GFF Gamers Month ver. 2
Hey Guys, its that time of year again in which we can take a little bit of time out of our lives to speak of a certain game we all have a particular passion and dedication towards.
To the new and old members of GFF that were not a part of this event last year; basically the GFF Gamers Month is an event in which each member selects one game and gives their review on it. It can be anything from your personal experiences about the game, how you obtained the game, what you loved about the game, or even any funny stories that came as a result of playing it. It should be a little easier to manage the Gamers Month this time around, because of the success of the original. First of all, the GFF Gamers month will be in the Month of March as per discussions with Skills and Acerbandit instead of May. One of the problems we had with doing the GFF Gamers Month in May is that some members had exams during the time it was hard to find a date that corresponded with their school schedule. I'm hoping that doing the GFF Gamers Month in March should avoid that problem. Here are the rules: 1.) People sign-up 2.) Each member selects one date in the Month of March ( I don't think we'll have any problems getting the entire month filled up, but on the off chance that all the slots are not filled out, anyone can volunteer to do two games if they wish.) 3.) You send me a PM, of your primary choice of what game you would like to review and a secondary choice of a game, just in case your game may have been already taken. 4.) If two people end up picking the same game, The person that has sent their PM first will have priority over that said game; thus the reason why each person needs to send a secondary choice. 5.) Once the Month of March starts, a separate thread will be created that will just have each person's game review and nothing else. Pretty much the event will be a two thread approach. One thread will have each person's game review, and this existing thread will be used for any discussions about any of the games mentioned. 6.) When it comes time for your review on your specified day. There is really no set format or any rules pertaining to what game you may want to review. It can be a very popular game or a very obscure game; that is totally up to you. If your unsure of how to write your review you can check THIS THREAD out if you need any ideas: But overall your game review should at least have these: 1.) Title of Game 2.) Picture of the Game (Box/Case Art) 3.) Publisher & Release Date 4.) Brief History 5.) Brief Review 6.) Some of your personal experiences with the game, such as favorite boss fights, wtf moments, or any other funny stories that have come with this game. 7.) Conclusion 7.) Above all else, Have fun With doing this event for the second year, I do have a few concerns I would like to address. I am of the sound mind that if it's not broke don't fix it. I thought the event last year went a lot better than I expected, but I do want to keep ideas open if there are any changes people would like to see to the event this year. One concern I have is should members be allowed to review a game that was already reviewed during the first GFF Gamers Month. For Example: Qwarky reviewed ICO last year, but lets just say if another member wanted to review that game this year as well. I know that if you get a bunch of people playing the same game obviously each person is going to have a different opinion or perception on the game that they're playing. I feel pretty positive out of the 30 games we reviewed last year people probably picked games that someone else eventually wanted to do a review on. Personally, I would like it if everybody picked a completely different game this year. This is not set in stone, I want to see what the community as a whole has to say about this. The other concern, I had is if there are any themes anybody would like to do for the Gamers Month this year. Skills had briefly mentioned that maybe we could do a Gamers Month for games between 2000-2009. I'm not necessarily against that, I would personally like to keep it open to all games. As I said before, I want to know what the community as a whole feels about this. I'll set up the sign up sheet, and I think its better for guys to tell me which date work best for you instead of me giving you a date like last year: March 1st/2010 - Angel Of Light (game confirmed) - finished March 2nd/2010 - Skexis (game confirmed) - finished March 3rd/2010 - Muzza (game confirmed) - finished March 4th/2010 - Chaotic (game confirmed) - finished March 5th/2010 - GB (game confirmed) - finished March 6th/2010 - Krelian (game confirmed) - finished March 7th/2010 - Qwarky (game confirmed) - finished March 8th/2010 - Rychord (game confirmed) - finished March 9th/2010 - Ah Amiga! (game confirmed) - finished March 10th/2010 - Colonel Skills (game confirmed) - finished March 11th/2010 - Tails (game confirmed) - finished March 12th/2010 - Sousuke (game confirmed) - finished March 13th/2010 - Tawnee Van Pelt (game confirmed) - finished March 14th/2010 - Crash Landon (game confirmed) - finished March 15th/2010 - Philia (game confirmed) - finished March 16th/2010 - Worm (game confirmed) - finished March 17th/2010 - Mo0 (game confirmed) - finished March 18th/2010 - Encephalon (game confirmed) - finished March 19th/2010 - NovaX (game confirmed) - finished March 20th/2010 - Hawkeye (game confirmed) - finished March 21st/2010 - Rockgamer (game confirmed) - finished March 22nd/2010 - Tritoch (game confirmed) - finished March 23rd/2010 - Dark Nation (game confirmed) - finished March 24th/2010 - Acerbandit - ???????? March 25th/2010 - Iago (game confirmed) March 26th/2010 - Omnislash 124 (game confirmed) - finished March 27th/2010 - SuperSonic (game confirmed) - finished March 28th/2010 - The Dopefish (game confirmed) - finished March 29th/2010 - Dr. Uzuki (game confirmed) - finished March 30th/2010 - wvlfpvp (game confirmed) March 31st/2010 - Denicalis (game confirmed) - finished (game confirmed): The member has their game selected and a pm has been received. finished: Review has been written for that members said game. This Is Very Important: You guys can go ahead and let me know which date you would like to do your game review. I would like it, if you could hold off sending your PM for your game choice until the start of February because I want to make absolutely sure that all issues have been addressed for this years GFF Gamers Month, but if you feel confident that nothing should change about this years GFF Gamers Month you can go ahead and send me your primary and secondary game choice I'm open to all suggestions and ideas for this event. Always remember that an event is only as good as the time and effort that people put into it. I'll try to address any questions. Take Care Guys. |
I AM UP FOR THIS! Sixth please.
Hopefully this'll make for as much excellent reading as last year's. |
I'll give it a go, this time around.
Slate me for March 14th. I like the number 14. I'll think about my choice of game while I'm at work and get back to you. |
YES. Count me in! :D
Lets go with my original date from last year! :D 15th! |
Why certainly! Sign me up!
I will take March 7th! |
In. I'll take the 10th.
(Thoughts on making this limited to the last 10 years only? Due to the whole "end of the decade" thing and all?) |
I object to this suggestion.
I also object to this suggestion. Strongly. With vitriol. Lots of it.
Sure, I'll go back in on this again. I enjoyed it last time. Hell, I'll take the 26th again.
So up for this again. Chocodecide tells me i'll be going on the 20th.
Shouldn't we wait a whole year?
Barring that, I'll take the 5th. |
Sign me up, I'll take the 13th.
Yes!
I will do this! The 17th, please! |
Just a thought, dudes. Trying to change it up so I know that certain people won't make the obvious choices.
Before I forget, I'm archiving the other one. |
I claim the 11th~
I'm up for doing this again. I'll take the eight. Looking forward to this!
I'll take the 16th, please.
I'll take the 4th again.
Signed. The 9th please.
Put me down for whatever~
My original date [the 11th] was taken by Tails, so I'll take his date. :3:
Slot me in for the 12th! I'll send my game options as soon as I figure out what I want to do. |
Sign me up. I'll take the 21st.
I want in this year. March 30, plz.
I'll call the 22nd. No clue what game I'll do yet, but I made that decision at the last minute before too.
I'm unsure what date and game I want but I fucking want in on this. Had a blast last year. <3<3<3
Signed up for the 2nd. Looking forward to it!
I wouldn't mind doing this again, so I'll take... March 23rd!
Edit: Didn't seem Ah! Amiga's picked date as just looked at the list at the top when I decided on the 9th initially >_> So I'm changing mine to the 23rd, Carry on then! |
I'm in as well. If it's alright, I'd like to take March 27th. I have a few games in mind, but hopefully I'll narrow it down soon.
You know what, I'll go on the 19th. Right after Paco. <3~
Damn it, Acer. 19 is my favorite number. I'll take the 25th, then.
Can I take the 24th?
Holy Shit Guys, not even 24 hours have passed and we only got 5 spots left. Anyway guys, get your spot while its still available.
Anyway, it looks like we won't be making any changes from last years GFF Gamers Month, so you guys can go ahead and send me your game choices. You've got plenty of time. Anyway, thanks for all the support and judging from some of the games that are going to be reviewed this year. It looks like this Gamers Month will definitely be entertaining. Quote:
If this Gamers Month is as successful as the one last year, we'll probably hold it in March from now on. Quote:
March 23rd ;O
I'll take the 28th!
Quote:
I'll take the 3rd. :) This way I'll only have two entries to live up to instead of about twenty or so (because damn, the quality of last year's entries was both intimidating and entertaining).
Quote:
and possibly one-up you, in turn double-one-upping Skills? nah, probably won't happen, but I can imagine, right? |
I had actually mentioned in chat but a few hours prior to this post that last years was my favourite group activity for these boards.
hells yes. |
Well guys there is only one more spot left, somebody better grab it. We got a few new people involved with the Gamers Month this year. I'll be heading out back to work tomorrow, but so far everyone's game choices are good to go.
I should be able to put something together with a whole two months, so I'll take the 29th.
Copy pasting this here because everyone needs to know how much Hito sucks:
[03:45] <&Colonel_Skills> Hito Angel told me you tried to pick some bunk ass shit for Gamer's month and asked me to ban you from the forums [03:45] <&Colonel_Skills> I'm gonna do it ok [03:45] <@CHz> I'm okay with this. [03:45] <+Hito> FFXIII. [03:45] <&Colonel_Skills> Yeah [03:45] <&Colonel_Skills> what the hell is wrong with you [03:45] <+AcerBandit> tell me he didn't pick hello kitty roller rescue cuz if he did i'll be so fucking pissed  [03:45] <&Colonel_Skills> you can't even read gookanese [03:46] <@CHz> ACER I DID [03:46] <+AcerBandit> FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF FFF [03:46] <+Hito> By the time it's Gamer's Month here it'll be out in the US. [03:46] <&Colonel_Skills> yes [03:46] <@CHz> Hito you are the worst. [03:46] <&Colonel_Skills> for a week [03:46] <&Colonel_Skills> depending on when your day is [03:46] <+Hito> And I'll have already beaten it. [03:46] <&Colonel_Skills> I like how all your backup choices were SE too [03:46] <&Colonel_Skills> what the fuck man I want to shit all over you [03:47] <+AcerBandit> hey hito why don't you just do a fucking review like every other normal person going over a modern game coming out in a modern future [03:47] <+Hito> That's kind of gross. [03:47] <@CHz> Hito you are the worst. [03:47] <&Colonel_Skills> ^ [03:47] <+Qworkie> hito you are the worst [03:47] * Colonel_Skills changes topic to '# Hito you are the worst. In other news: Skills is into scat |
Fucking Hito. It's like he doesn't get it on a universal level.
I'm sorry, guys. I promise not to suck so much in the future (this won't happen).
So guys, were a little less than a week left from the start of the Gamers Month ver. 2 and I still got to get a few game choices in. Obviously, I don't want to rush anybody, I just want to make sure all the game choices are good to go and we don't run into any problems.
These are the people that need to get their game choices in: GB Krelian (He is going to get his choice in, within the next couple of days, before the Gamer Month starts) Qwarky Sousuke Mo0 Acerbandit (Had a talk with Acer, He needs to wait for one of his friends to come in before he can confirm his game choice. There shouldn't be any problems with his game choice.) Encephalon Hawkeye Tritoch (He is getting his game choice in two days before his required day in March, but he assures his game choice won't conflict with anybody else's game choice) Iago - Hito (Waiting to get confirmation on his second game choice since his first game choice was Final Fantasy XIII) The Dopefish So guys, I just want to say that there is no rush, just try to get your game choices in before the end of February and for the people that can't, I understand; let me know if anything else comes up. |
OH. I already have my review written. I'll PM you the title shortly.
It's gonna suck for you if your game is already taken!
I'll think about it for a little bit and get back to you, Angel. |
I'm gonna give up my spot. I have commitment issues, can't decide on a game, and March looks like it's going to be a busy month for me.
No you aren't, no you don't, yes you can, and no it isn't.
Okay. I'm convinced. Thanks, Skills. Game decided.
Ok Guys, the thread is now up, if one of the mods could sticky THIS THREAD I would greatly appreciate it.
Just remember guys, only game reviews go in the GFF Gamers Month ver. 2: Games Unleashed thread. Any discussions concerning those games will stay in this thread. There are still a few people I haven't got their game choice from and I must stress that I need to get them in as soon as possible. Those people are: Krelian Qwarky Sousuke Mo0 Hawkeye The Dopefish GB I'll be sending a pm to these people, just to make sure nobody is picking the same game and they already have their review done. With everybody else who has their game choice confirmed, I'll send a reminder pm on your scheduled day. Lets have fun with this event. Take Care Guys. |
I know, I know... I still have to send in my game. I honestly don't know which I'm going to do yet! I'll give it some thought though and I'll send it to you within a day or two.
Quote:
* 'Report Post' because it would be a bannable offense |
Krelian!
It should be noted Quote:
I will only prop WHEN CORRECT |
Whoa shit really OOPS FIXING
Well, I went ahead and posted mine. TOO IMPATIENT TO GIVE MORE TIME INBETWEEN POSTS.
Hey Guys, I was just wondering, if there is anybody who would want to trade their day with Acer. His review is on March 19th/2010.
If there is anybody who has their review after March 23rd, would like to trade with Acerbandit it would be very much appreciated. Just let me know, and I'll make the appropriate changes. |
Hey Games Month Crew!
Does everyone posting in the thread want to also start a new thread with the same post in the Review forum? I split most of them out last year but it was fucking tedious with all those images to scroll past and the review bit could use some love. |
Wait GB, y-you mean you're not doing Suikoden II? Despite having a Suikoden II song playing on your 'technical difficulties' page? -______-" Oh you tease...
Still an entertaining read though, your post! |
Quote:
Oh that's awesome! Thanks Nova! =DDDD <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3
Qwarky, didn't Max Payne also have an adaptive difficulty? I'm one of those people that tend to reload a section of shooters like that until I can do it practically flawless, and I remember Max Payne getting crazy hard in the end during the playthroughs I played like that.
Definitely one of my favorite non-multiplayer shooters, and your post on it makes me want to play it all over again. |
Quote:
I did however screw up the title of my Front Page post, and was wondering if one of the mods could change it? The comma after battle should have been a colon, and I guess the first colon should be a dash to make it less confusing. That's what I get for proof-reading my review the morning I post it. :eagletear: |
Fix'd.
Quote:
I would often reload a save over and over so I could do THAT dive and drop ALL THOSE guys flawlessly. Same for Max Payne 2, where I actually bothered to do the hardest difficulty to see the extra ending. Which actually wasn't as good as the original ending. |
No, the "dynamic difficulty" is definitely there. It's not in the options which is why it's annoying. Gotta love a game punishing you for doing well.
It's pretty noticeable in the early levels when you're trying to use your pistols and suddenly guys aren't going down as easily. EDIT: Oh, awesome writeup by the way. Spot-on with the comment about level variety--a lot of games would do well to take a page from Max Payne in terms of giving you neat places to shoot through (F.E.A.R., I'm looking at you). Quote:
Wow, I'm embarrassed to admit I have never noticed that if it's really whirring under there.
Usually they make such a huge fuss about such things (like with Sin Episodes I) and I don't recall any big difference in difficulty with each playthrough. I guess my playstyle was so similar each time. |
I would take rank ups for doing well instead of some shit like Border Down's rank up AS YOU DIE
Quote:
My original few playthroughs were double the length because I just kept pausing with P to admire the flying casings and splintering wall shrapnel and particle effects. And of course you paused when there was no muzzle flash caught in the pause, so you unpaused and paused again, and then unpaused and paused and unpaused again. And then you had to do another dive in another direction and pause and unpause and pause till you caught one. |
Quote:
I'll bet you like rubber band AI in your racing games, too.
EDIT: oh wow I just realized the hilarity of you saying this considering you just started a high score thread |
Yep. When I'm playing a racing game I find the fun comes from racing, not from time trialing around a lap ahead of the pack. GRID is much, much more fun than Gran Turismo.
Whatever. Can we get back to looking down into the grave of our love.
I just posted mine. I hope you like it.
Despite what I said up there, I do have to agree with Tails that R4 is perhaps the greatest racing game of all time. I even unlocked the Pac Man car out of that I played it so much.
Super Metroid love up in here! <3
Also, I recently purchased a PS3 (though I'm not gonna receive it for another two weeks or so) and I'm definitely gonna have to get around to playing both Uncharted games. I hear they're short but incredibly sweet. I already got a copy of MGS4 and I'm buying GOWIII for it as well. What else should I get? |
If you enjoyed Prototype, you should get Infamous.
Not sure if Infamous has a Very Easy setting though.
Well um... should I wait on Crash or just post mine anyway tonite? Actually I'm glad for the wait, once my head clears up and all. :D
I'm about to do my entry, Philia, so hold up a bit.
I was ready yesterday, as scheduled, but a sudden trip to the ER with food poisoning and subsequent dehydration from the vomiting slowed me up and once I got home, I was just too damned exhausted to post anything. Damned pork chops. Anyhow, I'll have mine up in the next hour. Feel free to follow anytime. |
Awesome choice, Crash. I have no idea what happened to my copy of Rogue Trip but I'm sad that I lost it. Easily the best Twisted Metal-esque game on the PS1 other than Twisted Metal 2. Also worth noting is how destructible the environments are--there are tons of buildings and monuments to destroy; it's quite impressive for a PS1 game.
You can even blow up Earth.
Question: Did anyone find my mayonnaise analogy a stretch, or did it work? I probably spent 20 minutes on that last paragraph. :(
(I got 10 props, yay, I feel validated!) |
I have a question. Why are so few people propping Worm's Thief 2 piece?
Don't tell me you faggots never played it. Or let that be a reason not to prop a good piece. |
I watched my roommate play Thief and Thief II in college on his aging machine. It was awesome. I'd have propped Worm's post anyway for it being awesome alone but I know the game is worth the prop too.
I'm so sorry I spaced on posting my game so late! For some reason I thought my review was due tomorrow. Either way, most of it was already written and it's up now. Hope you guys enjoy it.
Nova, dude. :(
Yeah I know....:eagletear:
Sorry, my computer died. I rewrote my review again this morning, it has nowhere near the amount of masturbation jokes as the original, but I guess it'll have to do. Sorry again... |
Fuck yes, you are the manliest videogame ever. Double thumbs up, Nova.
I should have put a disclaimer warning to avoid the New Play Control! Wii version at all costs.

Why is Billy so fat? I don't recall him being overweight in the TV show. Old enough to have a kid in middle school, maybe, but not fat. In this game he's like the Mo0 of Power Rangers.
http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...rnip/Billy.jpg |
Man, I'm surprised none of my friends or I ever had that game considering how big a fan of Power Rangers we were back then. I do remember playing a Game Boy game that looks awfully similar to that game (except for the lack of color, which kinda makes them all the same when they're transformed), but this game is news to me.
Billy is exceptionally creepy in the game. He's fat, his glasses have become sunglasses, and his motion when standing still is to pump his fists up and down at his sides. With those overalls I like to think of him as a deranged farmer out for justice.
Oh god, I actually own this game and the Movie game as well.
The only good thing about Billy is that he threw high as hell. Helped a bunch in the Skyscraper stage when you had that stupid thing shooting lasers down at you. He was the only character who could throw that high to destroy them anyway. |
Never underestimate the awesome power of parachute pants.
Ok did you know that on Donkey Konga you dont have to clap? :) Me and my friends had a fun time playing it one day and found out yelling at it also works.
I was a fun time playing that and yelling obscenities at it. One of my friends actually hit it so hard it lauch out of his lap on to the floor. We were laughing so hard we were crying! Thanks for the reminders of good times. :P |
Fuck yeah, Blackdown. Awesome choice, DN ^5
Good choice DN, although you could have tried to find a gameplay video where the person playing didn't suck massive donkey balls, the game is way more fun than you'd imagine from watching that clip.
Also, the dlc is totally worth it, if only for the hilarity of using the harpoon gun to staple people to your car then driving round the city in it. |
Yeah... I'm totally buying Crackdown now. :D
It should be justified to diss you for not already owning the game (seriously, what the hell), but I don't want to discourage fixing such error.
Well, I mean, I didn't have a 360 when the game was first released. In fact, I didn't get one until around holiday season of 2007. That was when I bought Bioshock (Which I eventually sold when I bought the Limited Edition on eBay.), Dead Center and Beautiful Katamari. I never even heard anyone talking about Crackdown at that time and never really have (at least in depth) until now.
Man, makes me wish Crackdown was available for the PC. :(
I'm surprised you didn't already have the game Paco, its great stuff. Also, that video was the first one I came across that didn't have some shitty music overlayed or the video wasn't artifacted to hell like it was taken on a cellphone camera covered with grease.
I went ahead and copied my post into the Front Page Articles forum like Shin asked. I can't help but notice that almost no one else has. Apologies if I screwed anything up.
Nope, you did just fine, it's just that everyone else is useless.
I meant to do that the other day, but it slipped my mind. I'll copy it over later.
I was gonna wait a little longer to annoy Shin but fine I did it, happy now?
Edit: YOU FORGOT THE PREFIX PACO |
It actually would have been ideal for everyone to move their post into the front page articles forum because the thread takes forever to load with all the images in it on slower connections.
http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a.../GFF/ftlul.jpg
Ho ho ho, a clever post, my boy. Even though you haven't gotten anything done we laughed. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...n_scowl300.jpg You are a terrible person Acer, and should feel bad. |
If for some reason Omni isn't able to get to his today, I wouldn't mind going ahead. It's just a matter of copy and paste.
Do it.
Go ahead, I"ll delete his post, you can take his day, and then he can post a follow up on whatever day yours was. |
I remember getting an issue of Game Players that had some tips for Sonic CD but explained nothing about the game, so I was reading sentences like "Hit the springs and bounce around in the loop until you hit the sign, go into the Past, and exit through the now-vanished wall" and getting really confused. Finally, the veil is lifted.
This was a really nice overview and actually makes me want to try out that demo. |
Congrats on a successful review SuperSonic. You mentioned earlier its only a matter of copy and paste. When did you type this up?
I think I started on Sunday and just kept adding on when neither school or Ikaruga had my attention.
Yeah, I have to say I'd normally have been rolling my eyes at SS for doing a Sonic game, but it was really well done. Kudos.
Quote:
Nice review, SS. I played it on PC, and to this day Sonic CD is still the only old Sonic game that I've beaten. I wish I still had a copy, but the closest I've got is the opening video included on Sonic Mega Collection to taunt me.
Nice review, SS! To this day, Sonic CD is still the only Sonic game I played so much of I actually lost track of the hours. It's the only game on the Sega CD I still go back and play once in a while and it's the only game I've beaten to completion on the system. I wish I still had the soundtrack though. :(
Sonic CD came with our first PC with a CD-Rom drive. I played the hell out of that bitch, and actually managed to get all the crystals (and Good futures) ... once.
Paco: do you not have the physical disc? I think the soundtrack is Redbook, even on the Sega CD version. |

I am lazy and also occupied by other things. I will try to complete my shit by tonight.
Additional Spam: I've also discovered I'm suffering from some serious writer's block. |
Just finished mine up and I'm eager to post it. Dope, I'll switch days with you if you want.
Nah, I just posted it. Thanks for the offer, but another day would just give me more time to agonize over it.
It's actually highly appropriate that our reviews come back to back with yours coming before mine given the games we picked.
How convenient then that I finally mustered up something in time!
All game reviews should end with a picture of the final boss in an apron and surrounded by pie.
... dammit, I'm probably going to miss my day. If dude after me wants to go first, you're more than welcome.
HOW ARE YOU ALL THIS FUCKING USELESS
Seriously guys, it isn't that difficult. If you've already got pictures prepared it only takes maybe an hour or so to do.
It took me a while to look up pics and take screens BUT THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T START TYPING IT WHEN IT'S ALREADY YOUR DAY GOD DAMNIT
If nobody minds, can I take today to make up for my miss on the 26th?
Quote:
I'll take that as a yes. I actually have the review ready to go and just need to post it. I guess I'll go ahead and post it then.
The voice acting in Radiant Dawn's cutscenes is absolutely horrible, but damn are they fun to watch. That execution scene with the Greil Mercenaries showing up to easily wipe out the remnants of the rebel army is still my favorite.
It's a great game once you get past Part 1 with the geniuses of the Dawn Brigade. "Hurray, our previous psychotic dictator had a secret heir! Putting him in charge is a fantastic idea." |
Sure, the voice acting's not great, but I've heard much, much worse. To be fair, that's not much of an excuse, but still. I really do enjoy the cutscenes, and yeah, the one I posted is still my favorite.

I was really hoping for a screenshot of shooter toaster, but I guess the absence of it just gives me more incentive to finally give Secret of Evermore a whirl.
And that Gamingforce Procrasination™* game Acer reviewed looks sweet, where can I download it (lemme guess, the developer never got around to appropriately distributing it). Also: Quote:

Obviously the never released and never distributed and never finished game would just be about Acer being THE WORST
Maybe Acer would be the FINAL BOSS and the good Gamingforce people would unite and DESTROY him. And his various MINIONS OF PROCRASTINATION.

(Acer Sucks)
FUCK YEEEEEAAAH FIRE EMBLEM. I kinda liked 9 better overall but that's because 9 doesn't force you to play as the horrible, horrible Dawn Brigade for a few chapters. However once that's over 10 is pretty fucking baller with ULTIMATE TEAMUPS and FIGHTING THE BLACK KNIGHT EVEN MORE and HOLY SHIT ALL THE LAGUZ EVER FUCK YES YOU ARE ALL AWESOME. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...th/6420147.jpg YEEEAHHHHHHHHH |
Man, I would have loved SoE if not for that goddamned Alchemy system. I remember getting all of my spells leveled up in the Prehistoric world only to have them completely nerfed by the change to antiquity. Also the whole deal of the alchemy system annoyed me a bit. Maybe if it was just a general skill level for the entire world that you leveled up instead of each individual spell it would have been better (and less time consuming for how many stupid spells you had to cast).

Sorry for the delay guys.
I've had a lot of stress at work lately, and I was really busy when I was home over Easter. I just want to say thanks for everybody you did a great review for this years Gamers Month. I think one of the best things for the Gamers Month this year, is most of the games that have been mentioned I never played before. Encephalon's review of Bioshock, has me pretty convinced to pick up and play my first person shooter since the days of 16 bit action. I absolutely look forward to getting my copy of Snatcher. Trust me, I know its an expensive game, but I'm only 15 games away from finishing my anime style domestic sega saturn collection. Sega CD will be the next system I will undertake. Some of my favorite reviews from this year is definitely: San Francisco Rush - Extreme Edition Flower Secret of Evermore Sonic CD Golvellius: Valley of Doom All time favorite review for this year is Sousuke's review of Super Metroid. That guy captured the very essence of what makes this game great. I remember playing it for the first time, at my cousin's and he has his video game set-up in a really large spacious room in the basement, but there was no light fixtures, the only thing that even remotely lit up the room was the glow of the tv. The atmosphere of that game and the music were suspenseful and frightening. Not knowing anything about the game, you didn't know when things were going to jump out at you, it was definitely one of the best snes gaming experiences I ever had. I'm also a little concerned, we still haven't had a review from Hito and Wvlfpvp yet. I don't know if these guys are busy, but I don't want to hold it against them. Acer is just being Acer, lol. Anyway, thanks for another year of allowing me to do this event. I look forward to doing it again next year. |
I am terrible. I know.
I just haven't had the time or drive to work on this like I wanted to due to various things. I will do my review eventually. PROMISE. Anyway yes you all are awesome people please be awesome again some more. I <3 these reviews so much. =) |
I think Golvellius wins for my favorite review this year. Uzuki took a game that I'd never heard of before and would probably serve to do nothing but frustrate the hell out of me, and he managed to make it sound genuinely interesting. You could tell just how much he'd played and loved the game.

Next year I'll do an actual review of Final Fantasy VIII.
The reviews don't have to be positive, do they? |
LOL, no Mo0, I'd like to see joke/hate reviews to be reserved for another thread sometime. :)
Well, for me Gamers Month is a celebration of videogames, so wasting a spot to bash something you can just as well bash in your journal would feel like a.. well, a waste, really. Don't you ever play any good games, Mo0?

I don't see a problem with doing a review of a bad game for Gamers Month. The point of it for me is telling people about games they may not have played and have personal meaning regardless of whether it was positive or negative. Most of the time that's going to be a good game, but what's the problem if someone can write an interesting review of a game they found particularly atrocious?
FF VIII still isn't a good choice, though. We've all played it and we all know the many faults with it. You'd have to write a damn good piece for it to still be amusing and interesting. |

Well no review is just wasting a spot again. We already know Acer is the worst of everything and should not be allowed to participate in anything ever.
