Most anticipated game for 2010?
ITT: try to convince me there'll be another game worth playing next year besides this:
|
|||||
Looking forward to a new Rainbow 6 and Ghost Recon this year, I think there's one of each due. Also, the more nerd rage I read about the new Final Fantasy, the more I'm looking forward to playing it. Hopefully Too Human 2 will see the light of day this year, but I'm not holding my breath. Apart from those, I'm not really up on what's due out.
|
Mass Effect 2, Final Fantasy 13, Splinter Cell Conviction, Bioshock 2. These are the only ones that spring to mind at the moment and are all pretty much guaranteed to be good. However, lets hope Mass Effect 2 has good alternate worlds to explore and decent side quests.
Iffys are Aliens vs Predator (if anything like old PC version, it is a must buy). Additionally, I am kind of intrigued by Just Cause 2 even though I never played the original. The many trailers I seem look great, but all the developer's comments and their constant praise of it make me want to not like it. If I had to pick one game, I guess Splinter Cell since it has been a while. I only wish they would stop fucking around and include Spies vs Mercs from Pandora and Chaos Theory. |

Darksiders & Bayonetta are the big ones for me. Lost Planet 2 being another one but we'll see. |
Mass Effect 2 is easily the one I anticipate the most this year. I'm way more excited about this game than I have been about any game this generation, really. I attribute that to a combination of nerd-love of Bioware and space operas.
If there is another Rainbow 6 this year as Shin suggested, I would be pretty excited about that too. brb gotta take cover behind this conveniently placed post in the middle of a long hallway |
Personally some games that fit the category would be:
Darksiders Bayonetta Dante's Inferno God of War III Mass Effect 2 Bioshock 2 Infinite Line Left 4 Dead 2's "The Passing" DLC Dark Void (Possibly) That's all I can recall for now. There's probably more that I have absolutely missed. Will keep an eye out for future releases. |
While new entries for Metal Gear, Mega Man, and hopefully Sonic (Project Needlemouse) look to be coming out in 2010, I'm going to have to go with Super Mario Galaxy 2. The first one was just freaking amazing, so I'm curious to see how the sequel is going to fare.
I would have said the new Zelda for Wii, but I doubt it'll come out in 2010 unless Miyamoto only showed a picture on purpose and the final product is closer to release than what was previously let on. |
Are we gonna see Half-Life 2 Episode 3 next year or what
|
Honestly, the only games I'm genuinely excited for are Mass Effect 2 and the Pokémon Gold/Silver remakes. Everything else I'm looking forward to hasn't actually been announced yet in any official capacity (Elder Scrolls V, Zelda, HL2 Episode 3).
I'm looking forward to FFXIII and Cave Story, but I'm not as impatient for their arrival as I am for the two aforementioned titles. |
The Gold/Silver remake for the DS looks good, that was probably the most recent pokemon game i really enjoyed.
Also looking forward to Miles Edgeworth: Perfect Prosecutor in February. Because pretending to be a lawyer and yelling at one's DS just never seems to get old. |
I am totally psyched for Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta and Splinter Cell Conviction, but they're all Q1 releases, so maybe they don't count.
Red Dead Revolver is going to be great as well. |

Given my nick, was this answer ever in doubt? :3: Also ![]() |
Looking forward to Lost Planet 2 and.. damn, I can't think of anything else at the moment. Maybe Senko no Ronde DUO if it ever makes it to the US or becomes region-free but I really doubt it.

Mass Effect 2, Crackdown 2, Resonance of Fate and Metroid: Other M are the major console games I'm looking forward to seeing, with WoW: Cataclysm on the PC side.
|
The one I'm most excited for is Battlefield: Bad Company 2, as the first one is probably my favorite FPS of this generation of consoles. Played the beta a few weeks ago and it definitely seems like it'll be just as much as the first game was.
|
Looking forward to the Perfect Dark remake, as well as a few sequels (Bioshock 2, Crackdown 2, Just Cause 2, and Mass Effect 2), and Darksiders.
Also, The Underside, if it's actually finished in 2010. |
I don't really look at game info, but right now I'm looking forward to Final Fantasy XIII and Tales of Vesperia PS3 (assuming it's actually going to happen). Considering how well Contra 4 turned out, I'm also interested in AvP DS. Dunno if it's coming out next year though.
I'm also iffy on AvP PC. I loved AvP2 for the PC but never played the original so I don't know if this new one's gonna be any good. |
Bioshock is my favorite FPS of all time so, to say that I'm waiting for the sequel is a bit of an understatement. Also, God of War III is coming out soon and I played the demo three days ago; probably gonna have to get me a PS3 now. That shit is gonna be fucking EPIC. Another game that I think looks pretty interesting so far is Heavy Rain but, since they haven't really released any details on the gameplay I don't know what to expect. That trailer (and the entirety of the game) is reportedly run on the PS3's hardware without any prerendered shots.
While we're still on topic, I didn't really like Mass Effect too much so I'm not too sure why everyone is so hyped about its sequel. I mean, it was a pretty good game but, are we hoping they improve on it? |

FF XIII, Bayonetta, GoW3 are on my list. And probably Tatsunoko VS Capcom lol. |
I'll add to the Blizzard trend and say not only Starcraft II but also looking forward to Cataclysm. I'm having fun in WoW again, so why not.
Other titles I'm getting itchy to try this year are God of War 3, CastleVania: Lords of Shadow, Darksiders (next week, baby) and yes... Lunar PSP. I'm pretty sure that as the year grows, there will be other titles that will make me drool coming out. |
I'm excited about Stalker: Call of Pripyat's US release. From what I've read, GSC really listened to feedback and addressed most of the problems people had with the first two games. I still muck around in Shadow of Chernobyl occasionally, but I'd like some new places to explore.
Plus, the improvements to the engine should mean that it'll be a good base for mods, and I expect a slew of them. |
I'm surprised. I've heard so little about Call of Pripyat and yet it's already been released in the Russian region? And this only a year after Clear Sky. It's a shame because the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe deserves so much more than rushed expansion packs. Shadow of Chernobyl was one of the best games in years.
|
With most people, I'm obviously really excited about Final Fantasy XIII which reminds me I need to get a pre-order on that game when I go home.
Other games that have peaked my interest for this coming year are: Miles Edgeworth: Perfect Prosecutor Golden Sun DS Lunar PSP and I totally forgot that this game is coming out in just under two weeks. That game is: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...estruction.jpg It didn't really score all that great in Japan, but the fact that a lot of original key designers behind Xenogears worked on this game and that Yasunori Mitsuda is doing the score for this game is enough for me to definitely purchase it. |
Sin & Punishment 2, baby!
As challenging and fun as the original, but like 8 times longer. Treasure magic at work. ALSO, MEGAMAN 10 FTW.
|
|||||
Bayonetta, Mass Effect 2, The 3rd Birthday, RE5 Mercenaries content.
FFXIII was fail for me (played it in jap) so I'll probably get it used somewhere eventually. |
Oh yes, Sin & Punishment 2 is going to be great.
Also can't wait for Yakuza 3 translation. |
Yakuza 3 is set for March. No dubs anything, like the first and second (and what it should be).
|
First one was dubbed. Second wasn't. Tails less.
|
Oh, right. But still.
Yeah, looks like I forgot it on the list I had on the previous post. Was actually pretty excited when Gech told me all about it. |
The Last Guardian
Sin & Punishment 2 Super Mario Galaxy 2 No More Heroes 2 Dead Rising 2 Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands Wow, there's a lot of "2" games in my list. |
super mario galaxy 2 for sure. i think i play a lot of games my age but my wife put in more hours in the prequel than me!

Most Anticipated Video Games of 2010
Gamers be ready for the year 2010! This year will prove to provide many quality games that are sure to keep you entertained for hours. I have included a list of top games of 2010. However, there are so many games available that are worthwhile, that it would be impossible to include them all.
Bio Shock 2 2K Marin developed Bio Shock 2 and will release it on February 9, 2010 for the Xbox 360, the PS3, and the PC. In this sequel, gamers can expect to find another impressive storyline, which takes place 10 years after the first game. Game Reviews say the Spear Gun is the most satisfying new tool. Dante's Inferno Dante's Inferno was created by Visceral Games, and its release date is set for February 9, 2010. Gamer's get ready to experience a beastly adventure as Dante journeys through the nine circles of Hell. Final Fantasy XIII Square Enix developed yet another Final Fantasy game, which will be released on March 9, 2010. Final Fantasy XIII has a new battle system that yields some of the fastest combat the series has seen yet. This game is available for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. God of War III God of War III is the first game in the series that will be available on the PS3. PS3 reviews tell gamers to expect new weapons and capabilities. Gamers will appreciate the visually stimulating graphics that this game offer. Pick up your copy when it comes out in March of 2010. Starcraft II Starcraft II was developed by Blizzard Entertainment and will be released in the second quarter of 2010. This PC game will be in the form of three separate chapters. Super Mario Galaxy 2 Nintendo will release Super Mario Galaxy 2 in 2010. Go on the adventures with Mario to different planets and experience the joys of the Wii. Max Payne 3 Rockstar Games developed Max Payne 3 for the Xbox 360, the PS3, and the PC. This sequel is expected to release in the year 2010, several years after the last Max Payne. Halo: Reach Halo: Reach is a prequel to the hit series' Halo and was developed by Bungie. This anticipated game will be out in the fall of 2010 for the Xbox 360. Gamers will like this 1-player action style game with its new weapons like a sniper rifle, a needle rifle, and the Falcon helicopter. Final Fantasy XIII Square Enix developed yet another Final Fantasy game, which will be released on March 9, 2010. Final Fantasy XIII has a new battle system that yields some of the fastest combat the series has seen yet. This game is available for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. |
Bioshock 2's already out and also there's already an entire thread about this slightly further down the page.
Merged, and please try to make sure you're not duplicating an existing thread next time you start one. :) |
He failed to list Mega Man 10.
Nobody will miss him. |
Speaking of Mega Man 10, it's gotten some release dates.
Wiiware - March 1st PSN - March 11 XBLA - March 31 Source |
Yeah, I saw that.
I also saw the complete list of robot masters. I'm gonna say it. Not awesome. Sheep Man Chill Man. Strike Man (an oversized baseball) Commando Man Blade Man Solar Man Nitro Man (a robot/moped hybrid) Pump Man Pretty much no originality there. You have the standard Ice/Fire/Water/Weapon themes that always recur. Plus Nitro Man is just Turbo Man with a paint job. 9 was fairly recycled too but they did break a bit of new ground with a female robot master. It's fairly obvious they didn't even try this time around. Yes, I'll probably get the new Mega Man game but unless other aspects about it are out of this world, I have a feeling it's going to feel somewhat played out. It's a shame because I love the series as a whole and I, myself, have little trouble conceptualizing more original themes for the robot masters. I think most of us can. Capcom has just stopped giving a shit. |
I hope Commando Man is continually telling you to "Let off some steam" and "When I said I'd kill you last, I lied" and gives you the special power to drive Porsches into lamp posts then flip them over and they be completely undamaged.
Likewise Blade Man has Kris Kristoffersen as a side kick and never pays his tax bills. |
A brief bio of Sheep Man reads that he is a mutant originating from "a valley somewhere in Wales".
Chill Man has been renamed. It was originally Chill, man. |

I'm sorry but this position is already filled, Capcom. |
Yeah, I've seen a few Civilization V interviews in the last few days and it made me giddy. Hexes FTW!!!!
|
But... but no more giant stacks of doom, a classic fixture of the Civilization series!
And now we can't easily manipulate Isabella with the removal of religion. So sad :( I totally wish they'd put that Extreme Diplomacy April Fools' gag in the game as an Easter egg :D |
Yeah... One thing is certain, it'll be quite a departure from Civ IV.
I haven't played Civ II or III, though I do recall playing the original many years ago, so I don't really know how much difference there is between successive games. If BTS is any indication though, it seems that they aren't afraid to make major changes to gameplay when they think something would be cool. Apart from the combat mechanics and change from squares to hexes, they seem to be keeping a rather tight lid on the game so far, especially considering it is set to drop in the fall. I haven't seen a single gameplay video yet! |
Seems like they want you to crank out much less units this time around though. You could spam units like nothing in Civ 3 and 4 (haven't played 1 or 2) as long as you have the production capability and prerequisites. Now, it's just one resource, one unit.
Dunno what the major impact changing from squares to hexes is. It does seem you can surround something (say, a city) with less units (6) as compared before (9). It probably makes a difference in combat because now only one unit can fortify a city, as opposed to inifinite previously. We'll see, I guess. |
the thing is that cities are supposedly going to take up more than one hex (two or three), and hence defense will be more complex as a result. It hasn't been confirmed that you will actually be allowed to have a unit fortify one the city itself, so that could make it even more interesting.
The introduction of units attacking from more than one tile away may also make it necessary to build your defenses in such a way that they are not in danger of being taken down by melee units. Units will be able to move more than one hex per turn and will be able to switch places with one another, so that should help. The limited resources are also gonna be quite something to get used to, though from what I've read it may not be as restrictive as one resource one unit (say maybe a few per resource), but they will be finite and that in itself should be cool. Also, units won't necessarily die after losing a combat round, so it definitely is a move towards requiring the player to produce less units, while taking better care of the ones he has. I myself am honestly even more excited to see what this game is gonna be like thanks to the revamped combat. It seems like the world size will have to be much bigger, otherwise the scope just won't be the same. Edit: I may just have to start a thread for this. |

I don't think this is due until 2011 (Despite Gameplay.co.uk showing a June 26th 2010 release date) but I'm getting increasingly excited about Space Marine, the latest use by Relic of Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 license. Despite looking a bit like a Gears of War style shooter, it's apparently an rpg and from the looks of things it'll play a bit like Too Human which as I'm sure we'll all agree is a good thing. Given that it's by Relic, chances are you'll be able to customise the shit out of your squad in whatever online mode they put in at least if not the main story and there's little I enjoy more than a good loot 'em up, let alone one that presses all my most deep seated nerd buttons. Also, Silicon Knights have just got a grant to hire a shed load more people so they might release Too Human 2. One day. Maybe. I hope. |
Personally I am looking forward to Splatterhouse. That game looks wicked and I loved the original! Can't wait.
|
Final Fantasy 13 been waiting since it first came out to get it
Super Mario Galaxy 2 I heard the game will be very challenging but as long as its not challenging at the beginning of the game then I'm fine with it |
I'd say the biggest ones for me have already come out. Mass Effect 2, FF XIII, Bad Company 2, Assassins Creed 2 to name a few.
The only one I can think of is Starcraft 2, but after playing the beta, I kinda lost interest. |
Adding 2 more games:
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift. |
