Valkyria Chronicles 2: Anime Tactical Warfare on the Go
Here's a famitsu scan:
Spoiler:
As long as it's as fun as the original, I don't care how goofy the cast looks. Glad to see that this did well enough for itself to get a sequel. |
Eh, I guess a sequel is a sequel, even if it's not on the system I'd prefer it to be on. Now I guess I actually need to go and play the first one.

Well as I don't have a PS3, but I DO have a PSP, my interest in this series has risen. I'll have to find a way someday to play the first game, or like what Rockgamer said.
|
PSP? Bwuh? :( Well, Valkyria is Valkyria...

Enemy Battleship is boss fight, eh? Nice. Hope the players get to take a ship for a spin too. |
I'll take any kind of sequel to Valkyria. Though it does remind me to get my arse in gear and get back to playing the PS3 game.
|
Oh yeah, glad to see this one coming. Though we'll likely have to wait at least another year for it...
|
|
Well, it looks like it plays exactly like the old Valkyria, which is a good thing. Story and setting be damned it'll at least still be fun to play.
|
I'm still in chapter six in the first one. ONE DAY... i will find a copy of this game to claim my own. ONE DAY...
Though, I will definitely need to get this for PSP |
Apologies for double post, but it's been a while, and some extra updates (Mods, if needed, go ahead and delete/merge);
Valkyria Chronicles “could” head back to PS3 - Sega Nerds Check it out, apparently theres word that it might hit up the PS3 as well |
I agree with the author of that article in that it wouldn't really make sense for them to move the game back to PS3 if it actually did well on PSP. However, I don't think it would move back to the PS3 if it did horribly either. At that point they'd probably either try a DS version (everybody's doing it!) or just end the franchise entirely.

After thinking about it some more, and coming across this --
Sega: Valkyria's future on PS3 will depend on sales for VC2 - SEGA Forum I am inclined to think its more of "Hay guys, buy our game then we might make Valkyria 3 on the ps3 hurr hurr hurr" Oh lordy. I am already reluctantant on getting that Kingdom Hearts game on the DS... I sure hope Sega won't pull that for this game :( |
They're relying on sales. Of a PSP game. Ohhhh lordy.
They'd have to release it right now while the pirating community is still trying to work around 5.55 and 6.0 releases. |
*Shrug* Well, they must be selling or people'd stop making them. Most PSP games only need to sell like 15,000 copies to be successful, according to one (mostly RPG) publisher.
|
If they bundle it with the PSPGo, I'd totally buy that <333
Wishful thinking in the end of it all though I'd imagine. |
Yeah, the PSPgo is a tad overrated, IMO. Off this subject, but I have to ask - should I be sad that the Valkyruia Chronicles page on Facebook has yet to crack 1000 fans? I mean, games like this need support from the fans. I'm glad that they're releasing the sequel over here, but if we want to see more beyond that, we need to be more vocal everywhere. Just saying.
|
I found out the other day that the PSPgo is not UMD style. Also, the UMDs I bought are basically useless as I have to pay AGAIN to download the games. I am disappoint.
I actually found the Valkyria Chronicles facebook page the other day. Soooo i added myself to that list! |
well this is your problem to not inform yourself about the pspgo >.> seriously, it was the first thing they said about it, that it doesn't have an umd drive and go for digital download...
|
Oh I know. I just totally neglected the research phase.
I actually hope this game will come out UMD. I think I'd rather have a piece of media than data floating around |
Enjoyed the PS3 version. This game will liven up my PSP library if I get it.
I hope it comes out for UMD as well. I mean most PSP owners aren't going to rush and buy PSP-go on it's initial release date. Or not buy it at all. So it would be pretty weird if it's not released for UMD. They could just do what they did for Fate Stay Night and keep it PSN exclusive. P.S Did anyone buy this? I am attempted to buy it, mainly due to small design and 32 internal harddrive? Hit me up, time to fill it in with porn. And it sounds like pain in ass, after reading the whole USB/save file/ etc transfer. |
Mrrr... PSP? No thanks. I'm not much for mobile gaming. I have a DS and hardly use the damn thing. No reason for me to get a PSP for any reason whatsoever.
Just sucks, though, cause I really liked VC. |

The demo came out on the Japan PSN a couple weeks ago. I had a blast playing it, even though it's... it's very different. I am still in the mindset of "why, Sega, Whyyyyyyyy" That is, why the PSP T__T

I've been playing this the past couple days, and it's not that bad.
Basically, because of the jump to PSP, stages are broken up into multiple, smaller battlefields (instead of one gigantic field). When you capture a camp and 'withdraw,' you can go to a new mini-battlefield and bring out that party member. It's... annoying, but it works. There's some new classes and the ability to promote units, which is a very welcome addition. And, of course, there's more than enough new and inconsequential party members. There's some pretty neat codes you can input to bring back some old party members too, which I've abused quite a bit. |
Minor bummer for me was how cheesed-up the story/characters got in its transition from a serious war scenario into a military academy of what appear to be 15-year-olds. It's only an occasional annoyance that thankfully doesn't interfere with the undeniable meat of the game (the combat), but it's still a noticeable change.
Game is solid overall though. Good battles, as expected, and good updates to the troop management. Won't let me make a separate save file though, which is highly annoying. |
I don't care what the biographies said, the first game was a war fought by 15-year-olds.

I was afraid that was going to be the case, taking some story/setting and slapping on a high school theme just seemed like it would be a bad idea.
