Google Mail for Gamingforce

I applied for the beta test of Gmail Hosted. This allows Google's Gmail service for the gamingforce.com domain name! This will allow all users to get an @gamingforce.com email account with Google's sweet Gmail system. I'm not sure if the site will get accepted or when it's going to happen but justed wanted to let ya guys know. :)

Freelance Apr 7, 2006 01:40 PM

Oh wow, that's sweet. I just LOVE the Gmail service/system. I'd definitely get a GFF email address as long as it's a reality and it's free, haha.

Miles Apr 7, 2006 01:40 PM

Oh man, that sounds much better than using the old system. I still use http://mail.gamingforce.com/ to access my gamingforce account. Of course gmail has much better features.

Mucknuggle Apr 7, 2006 01:45 PM

That would be really awesome. I hope that we get accepted.

Tube Apr 7, 2006 01:59 PM

Sweet, tuberacer@gamingforce.com will look hella impressive on my job applications.

IdleChill Apr 7, 2006 02:48 PM

Suppose we do get accepted, would we have to use our board names or could we choose our own?

bobo Apr 7, 2006 03:13 PM

You will be able to use any name.

Rydia Apr 7, 2006 04:01 PM

If the site gets accepted, I'll probably just use that as my main forum email. I've always liked Gmail.

russ Apr 7, 2006 04:26 PM

Watch it tell me that my name is too short to be used. Then I'll be saddened.

Eleo Apr 7, 2006 04:31 PM

Then I guess mine would be too.

I just learned like two weeks ago that GMail had pop3 access. I had no idea until then.

It's not like I need another e-mail account, though. I've got like five pop3 accounts in Thunderbird :(

Snowknight Apr 7, 2006 04:40 PM

This is very awesome, of course.

I really didn't even know that Gmail had such a feature...

Inhert Apr 7, 2006 04:59 PM

I like gmail but I never use it >.> mainly because I really don,t use a lot my email (they are mainly for some board subscription not really to go right e-mail to firend r receive a lot of them) so I mainly use hotmail, because of msn ans because msn tell me when I have mail so I don,t need to go check everyday to s ee if I have some new mail ...

but anyway if GFF does get accepted i,ll be pretty happy and maybe I'll use it more often XD

Disregarding your grammar, Gmail has a feature like that too, so you don't need to log into your email acct everytime you need to check to see if you have any new messages.

Little Shithead Apr 7, 2006 05:04 PM

Also, if you use a personalized google homepage, it has a section for GMail, which tells you if you have unread mail, and a preview of the most recent five emails.

map car man words telling me to do things Apr 7, 2006 06:31 PM

Although I already have one, I wouldn't mind another, especially if it's @gamingforce.com which is just awesome in a can. I can just put a redirect on my other account concerning certain mails.

I use Trillian for IMs, so You've Got Gmail has proven to be a lovely plugin.
It's not always 100% reliable as it sometimes says 0 emails even when there's new mail in my inbox, and I haven't for the life of me been able to open my account directly by clicking on the bar thingie (always get an error message), but for quick checking for email, it's a real blessing.

Free.User Apr 7, 2006 06:40 PM

I'm definately up for this, assuming it won't cost me anything.

oh sorry I didn't know, and for the grammar, english is not my "first language" so sorry >.>

well I just found out this gmail notifier, so I'll be more then happy to have this feature now XD

Freelance Apr 7, 2006 09:32 PM

Oh, I didn't know it wasn't your first language, so I apologize. Gotta love Gmail!

Drex Apr 8, 2006 12:05 AM

Now if only it would get rid of the 40 spam messages a day I get at drex@gamingforce.com. -_- I'd have to re-sign up with a new address, because that account is just about useless nowadays.

nazpyro Apr 8, 2006 02:43 PM

An @gamingforce.com account would be hot. osnap, should I go "naz@" or "nazpyro@", assuming we're limited to one. I may not have a choice if "naz" is too short (no self-joke intended).

elwe Apr 8, 2006 08:12 PM

That'd be pretty neat, even though I even use e-mail all that often anways. :D "@gamingforce.com" looks awesome.

Lukage Apr 8, 2006 08:27 PM

I think its pretty neat, but unnecessary. As stated earlier, nobody really needs another email account. If they did, I'm sure they can get another Yahoo or Gmail account.

My only concern is: Will this site's swiss army knife actually have a knife?

Still, sounds neat.

Freelance Apr 8, 2006 08:33 PM

Very true, but I'd rather have a @gamingforce.com domain than @gmail.com. GFF just sounds more...personal?

I can use the GFF email for my close friends and use the gmail one for registering at websites and things.

value tart Apr 9, 2006 12:32 AM

I would want it to forward to my main Gmail account, since I have basically everything hooked up to it... would that be possible?

David Deluxe Apr 9, 2006 10:46 AM

Although I'd never use this email account, I'd still create one. I mean, after all it wouldn't cost anything. :tpg:

Peter Apr 9, 2006 03:28 PM

No offense bobo, but just like the world map, this is just a rather lame gimmick, that people will rave about for a few days, but after that no one will care. Could we PLEASE get back to enabling chocopie and who quoted me?

nazpyro Apr 9, 2006 03:54 PM

When Gamingforce crashes again, will Gamingforce mail crash? osnap.

I would think not, Gmail would probably host the email server. It'd be great to have a gamingforce email domain, then I could finally register for Hydrogen Audio Forums.

You need a gamingforce e-mail address to do this?

Hydrogen Audio blacklists such email domain names as: Hotmal, Yahoo!, Gmail, any known 'freemail' email system.

Drex Apr 10, 2006 03:58 PM

In bobo's defense, it sounds like instituting something like this would take very little from him or from his time - it's not Gamingforce trying to become gmail, it's gmail branching out and bobo signing up to be a part of it, and that only possibly. I think it would be neat, and I've already *got* an @gamingforce.com account. =P

UltimaIchijouji Apr 24, 2006 10:37 PM

To clear up any confusion, I'll explain, since I just got accepted to the Gmail Hosted beta.

Its pretty simple. Google does host the mail, you just reroute the MX DNS stuff to them and the mail gets sent there instead of to the GFF server. Therefore, when GFF crashes, GFmail will not crash, unless if the domain expires.

They give you 2GB per account, and 25 accounts for the "Free" license. There is no option to upgrade as far as I know right now. Therefore actually giving GFF members a mail account is out of the question. In fact, the pricing would probably be way too high, so maybe bobo will have it so donators get email accounts? (sup chocosponsor goin' to cancun).

I'm happy to have my Gmail Hosted @ani-6.com account and with it, you can also login to Google Talk. Its pretty neat.

Immortal Apr 25, 2006 01:03 AM

Yeah, an @gamingforce.com email would be freaking awesome. I probably wouldn't use it as my primary account, but as a forum account it would be great!

I poked it and it made a sad sound Apr 25, 2006 02:31 PM

I think I had one of these back when I donated the first time. One of the things Bobo offered for the donors. Of course, it was just a forwarder, but even then.

But yea. I'd like to have it again. That would be kickass. PLEASE IMPLEMENT IF WE GET ACCEPTED~

RacinReaver Apr 25, 2006 05:32 PM

All I get in my gamingforce e-mail anymore is spam. :(

Lamo, exactly :p

every day = 50+ "WOULD YOU LIKE A BIGGER P****?" :lolsign:

And, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO http://mail.gamingforce.com !?!?!??!?!?!]

I NEED MY E-MAIL BACK !!

IdleChill Jun 1, 2006 10:02 PM

CHAOS, WILLY, IT IS CHAOS!

Also, KeithJ@gamingforce.com <-- still waiting

Musharraf Jun 2, 2006 01:37 AM

Uhh someone should tell them that this service doesn't work outside the United States yet (??)

I poked it and it made a sad sound Jun 2, 2006 09:22 AM

I am assuming that if Bobo uses gmail for gamingforce email, we will be able to use POP3 with it? Because, you know, I like POP3.

Can someone confirm?

Free.User Jun 2, 2006 09:29 AM

I can almost confirm. If it uses gmail, then it will most likely allow POP3, because even gmail's basic free service allows POP3.

eriol33 Jun 4, 2006 11:03 PM

Hmm, is this available for everyone? or only for donator? I would use this as my primary address. @gamingforce.com looks cool instead of yahoo domain.

BlueMikey Jun 4, 2006 11:55 PM

When this is set up, you'll have full Gmail capabilities with the gamingforce.com e-mail address, when you log in, it will look just like a regular Gmail account.

Turbo Jun 5, 2006 12:55 AM

Thats rad. At least us donaters will be able to have something extra besides the low user number :P

Summonmaster Jun 5, 2006 01:19 PM

This will be a great excuse for me to finally get a new email. I think that bust_this_groove is displeasing for employers :o

eriol33 Jun 20, 2006 06:50 AM

Has this feature implemented already? The gmail ask me username and password when I enter www.mail.gamingforce.com. So how does this work? Do we use our user name and pass here or do we must sign up again?

Bigblah Jun 20, 2006 08:23 AM

It's still in beta so accounts are limited, bobo has to manually register you, and the service apparently doesn't work outside the US.

willy_sunny Jul 3, 2006 02:17 AM

nuuu >.<

My precious willy_sunny@gamingforce.com is now gone with megapath T_T

*cries*
