Shin Onimusha Dawn of Dreams (aka Onimusha 4)

Game is coming out in a few weeks (March 14th)! Can't wait! You can check out the demo for it, in the current issue of OPM (March, Issue 102).

It's a pretty good demo, you get to play through the first two chapters in story mode, and 3 stages in Test of Valor where you can solo (Soki) or partner with either Jubei or Tenkai. The Test of Valor is loads of fun, and made purchasing the magazine just for the demo all worth it (can easily kill a few hours playing it). Story mode you start from scratch with few moves and limited number of chain crits (can only do 2, max is 5 I think), in test of valor you've got maxed stats/skills/combos.

The dub a little lousey (specifically Ohatsu and Jubei's VA), unforunately we don't get the option to switch between JPNS and English VA, and subtitles can't be switched off.

Though, I think the biggest thing that's bugging me in DoD is the new camera system. The new camera, at times, kinda made it more difficult to see the enemies on screen. And it also made it difficult, for me at least, to perform the dodge issen attacks (though the absence of the old "tank" controls was the bigger factor).

Also, the music is pretty good. Techno style with some orchestrated goods, it really adds more beat to the more action oriented gameplay. Oh and I love how Samanosuke's theme in Onimusha 3 (probably the only good theme from that game's OST) was revived/remixed for this game as Tenkai's theme.

Anyway, fun fun fun, the demo kills the time while I wait for the game's release in March.

Single Elbow Mar 2, 2006 09:15 PM

From what I expect, the game's coming out really good. I also approve of the cinematics while others complain that "it may not be ROBOT's rendition but still good nonetheless".

The demo had me hacking away while getting used to the controls. It seems that I have to adjust to the new control scheme while getting treated to lush visualizations. With the new control scheme, I have one gripe: The one-hit kill counterattack (or heavy damage) in this new game. It seems that I have to wait for a certain timing to land a blow OR I have to press R1 for the main character's sword to glow then wait for an opening. The team attacks are also good as some of the characters' AI do a pretty good job of covering their own asses. Other than that, the action's pretty good and the visuals are definitely promising.

Since it will be out in around three weeks, the demo will keep a lot of fans waiting with excitement.

Rei no Otaku Mar 2, 2006 11:28 PM

I have this preordered, can't wait. I'm a big fan of the series, especially the second one. I have to say DoD looks to surpass it. I don't really care for the design of the main character, but that's a minor gripe. I really like how there's multiple characters to play as again. I really liked that about the second game. A nice sized cast to interact with.

I actually don't want to play the demo, since demos tend to make me want the game that much worse...

Kairi Li Mar 3, 2006 06:38 AM

I have the game imported, and personally I think this is the most polished Onimusha game yet. Total of 5 unique characters to control, each with at least 30 weapons to collect and their own Oni Transformation! Also each character has their own unique set of moves that you can exceute with specific button commands, kinda like fighting games.

The game is longer than any other Onimusha game, and the story is good as well, filled with twists and hasn't got any paradox-like BS like Oni 3 did.

Probably the best of the deal is TWO PLAYER CO OP.

Quote:

At the title screen, both players hold R1+L2. Then the 2nd player press START, and there will have sound effect if the code is entered successfully. The game will be locked into two player mode, and you can load a save or start a new game, as long as you have an ally with you, the 2nd player can take control of the other character. To exit two player mode, restart your PS2.
The mere two player co op will probably make alot of you guys happy. I can't wait to move so me and my boyfriend can play co op together.

Also for those griping about how the main character has blonde hair, theres an actual reason behind it for the story's sake, but it contains spoilers.

I'm glad someone noticed Samanoske's theme was used as Tenkai's theme, cause there's a reason for it. Can't tell you what though. :p

Very true. I as well imported this and I really enjoy it.

For the moves, does the set change with each new weapon you get? Or are they pretty much the same for each?

Sweet! So the rumours about the co-op mode were true! How is the screen for it? I've read that it's one full screen focused on one character, is it similar to DMC3 and does it get irritating?

Haha, now if say it like that, it'll gives me ideas. Ahhh, I can't wait! Two more weeks, and I can finally soak it in!

maneve Mar 3, 2006 12:17 PM

About how long is it supposed to be?

Also, about the two player mode, is it like two player in campaign or is it a different setup from regular gameplay?

My friend is going to be pre-ordering it, so I'll have to borrow it from him when he's done.

RYU Mar 3, 2006 03:51 PM

this badness series,1,2 & 3 better than DoD,camera is very bad and is not useful at all.

Kairi Li Mar 4, 2006 02:17 AM

During normal gameplay, you will constantly be joined by a 2nd character who is AI controlled and aids you along with the main story (except for certain boss fights). The 2 player mode simply switches AI to a 2nd controller.

There is no seperate campaign, in fact, the only extras in this game is costumes and joke weapons. No mini games this time. There are sidequests in the game though, like tests of Valor which gives you a time limit to complete a battle objective, either defeat all enemies or do enough Issen etc. You gain prizes for doing those.

Two player mode is fun but the major problem is that neither player can control the camera anymore. Its quite a pain when you battle a boss and he foes off screen and you can't turn to lock on. Another problem is both characters need to stick together in battle, cause they can go off screen. If you press L2 the camera will focus on that player, but this can cause a tug of war over the camera if both players spam L2. So its nesscary to stick together unless its a puzzle, and there a lot of them that requires both characters cooperating.

Other than the camera issue, this game is MADE for co op in a sense. If you're challenging Dark Realm (each character has to go through 100 levels), having a player 2 means you can take someone with you, and since Dark Realm can be tough to the point that the game is cheap, having a friend to help you out makes things so much easier.

Also move sets tend to stay the same with most weapons, however Soki's(main character) swords have bit more variety, some are heavy attack ones meaning he can't do combos, the ligthers ones can do combos but have less power. I suck at those moves so I dont use them often, but players use to DMC stuff will get them.

Its probably the best, in story and gameplay, I love it.

NOTE that to get 2 player mode, you MUST use the code on the screen that says " PRESS START BUTTON". Both players hold down R1 and L2, have player 2 press start, and then press start AGAIN to enter the game, load a save or start new game and the ally will be player 2.

IGN just putted up its review of Onimusha Dawn of Dreams
http://ps2.ign.com/articles/693/693332p1.html

I am just glad that they are keeping it like the Japanese release with the option to choose either Japanese or English voices. I can't wait to pick it up along with the pre-order bonus art cell of Soki.

Simo Mar 4, 2006 03:01 AM

Hmmmmm this one has been off my radar since the original announcement. I mean I love the Onimusha series but Onimusha 3 kind of wrapped things up for me especially with the conclusion of Samanosuke's story and the Nobunaga saga.

The fact the game is less than 2 weeks away though....I'll definitely have to check DoD. :)

Kairi Li Mar 4, 2006 03:26 AM

The Japanese import had English and Japanese language options as well, so they just simply ported the Japanese game and tweaked some things.

Thus Onimusha 4 is the greatest import I have ever gotten.

Quote:

I can barely understand what you posted, but the camera is not crap in one player mode, and you can Lock on the Enemies and the camera will steer to them (if the backgrounds is not prerendered since this game has a mix of controllable and non controllable environments) and lock on if you press R1.

Two player mode is another story, see my previous post.

LS Mar 4, 2006 06:23 AM

I got this game, but for some reason i wasnt impressed by the mere fact that the battle system is somewhat hard and kinda annoying, I dont know i didnt felt great when i first played it unlike Onimusha 3 especially with Samanosuke and Jacque or something like that but i'll try to finish this game since there are some parts that has good storyline
Spoiler:
except that one with the whole green orb collecting then black

YoMan Mar 4, 2006 06:13 PM

Have this one preordered. Looking forward to its release. Haven't looked at that much stuff (videos, screens etc etc), dont want to spoil anything.

An EB employee over at GAF mentioned that the release date had changed in the computer and moved up from the 15th to the 7th. EBgames.com does actually list it as being released on March 7th too. :)

Rei no Otaku Mar 5, 2006 12:20 PM

I'm actually kind of wishing it hadn't moved up. I have so many games to finish, and now I'll be getting this and Shadow Hearts 3 on the same day. Yikes.

Huh, you're right.

However, I just phoned them up and the guy said it's the 15th.... Hmm, I better phone again later on in the week. Maybe their computers will be updated by then.

According to our EB here, Shin Onimusha comes out at the 15th while Shadow Hearts 3 comes out at 7th (good present!).

But yeah, 2 weeks away? Why not?

I'll have to check around here then but given I'm dropping my cash on MGS3 Subsistence and the FFXII OST I'll probably have to rent which means waiting until Friday anyways but at least I won't be waiting until the 17th.

Im so glad the game is coming with JP voice tracks along with English, now i def. need to find the 40 bucks to buy it lol.

Here is GameSpot's review for DoD:
http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/s...p;subj=6145465
8.0
Quote:

The Good: Fast-paced, responsive combat rewards skill and timing ; great mix of pure action and puzzle-solving; epic-sized quest takes a while to finish and gives you good reason to come back; excellent audiovisual presentation.

The Bad: Noticeably recycles content from previous Onimusha games; some bad dialogue and implausible plot points mar the story.

Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams plays it safe, presenting lots more of what fans of the series loved about the past games, while adding a new layer of complexity to the action to help keep things fresh. The game doesn't assume your familiarity with the previous installments, though a lot of the story's references might fly over your head if all this material is new to you. Even so, there's enough exciting action in this latest Onimusha to make it live up to the quality of its predecessors.
On the hand it seems EGM didn't like it too much...:eyebrow:
Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams (PS2, Capcom): 4.5 / 7.5 / 6.5

Hantei Mar 7, 2006 03:34 PM

Jeez, EGM seems to be making more and more harsh reviews lately. Like DOA4, they gave it 7.0 6.5 6.5, while everywhere else gave it higher than an 8. Maybe they're just giving the game to the wrong reviewers?

Anywy, what were the good and the bad from EGM?

Rocca Mar 7, 2006 04:00 PM

I think EGM is focusing on being a more credible magazine by just lowering their scores for the games they cover. So maybe they expect to be a zine version of Gamespot.

I've owned the import copy of Shin Onimusha for some time now and giving a 4 is probably the most ridiculous thing I've seen in a while. It's an 8 at the worst, since it's loads of fun and, so far to most players, topples the other Onimusha's (although I liked 3 very much).

Rei no Otaku Mar 7, 2006 07:04 PM

I would also like to mention that they scored Final Fight: Streetwise higher than Onimusha. If that's not absolutely ridiculous, I don't know what is.

Man, even 24 slightly surpasses DoD's score, and like Rei no Otaku mentioned Final Fight scoring higher than DoD too. I have to read that article, I wanna see what was so bad about the game that those two reviewers had to give it a 4.5 and 6.5.

In anycase, hopefully the game will be in stores by today or tomorrow (preferrably today)!

Zero Mar 8, 2006 05:53 PM

This game's gonna be 40$ at Circuit City. I can't wait to get my hands on it. I don't really care about the reviews, as long as it plays, smells and look like an Onimusha game, that's good enough for me!

Hantei Mar 8, 2006 11:12 PM

Woo hoo got my copy.

Just question, but did they cut out Ayumi Hamasaki's songs from the game? Cause I thought the demo sequence at the start menu was supposed to be Ayumi's "Startin'", but instead we get the game's intro.

Not that I was crazy about her songs for the game, but I'm just a little disappointed that they took out the nifty promo. I mean, even Onimusha 2 kept in Hotei Tomoyasu's "RUSSIAN ROULETTE"(even though the song itself was pretty bad). Makes me wonder what they switched the ending song with now, as Ayumi's "rainy day" was supposed to the games ending theme.

That's because one of their editors is the biggest 24 fan and met the 24 show crew prior to the review being up. I think a different editor wrote the review, but there's still some sort of favoritism going on. At any rate...

No clue. Although if they did, that would be most disappointing. Makes me glad I bought the import copy. I'm not the biggest Ayumi fan either, but this song seriously fits the game well and gives it the right mood. Taking it out would just be ridiculous.

Zero Mar 9, 2006 12:19 PM

I just got my copy now, but can't play it before 5 cause I have work to do. For some reason, I went to EBgames and the game was priced at 50$, however, at gamestop, it was 40$. It's weird cuz both companies are suppose to be the same now. Anyway, can't wait to boot it in my PS2!

Single Elbow Mar 9, 2006 08:38 PM

I got duped in release dates. What the shit.

So I'm getting it tomorrow.

Hantei Mar 9, 2006 09:03 PM

Haha, nevermind about the Ayumi songs, they're still there. You just have to switch to the Japanese dub track and the demo sequence will now be a little DoD MV featuring Ayumi's "Startin'". Naturally, in the NA release the default is english, hence why I saw the game's intro instead.

Kairi Li Mar 10, 2006 06:35 AM

If you check the gamespot site, you will find a extra gam called onimusha Arena, a 2 player VS mode like Blade Warriors cept the camera angles are Onimusha 4 style.

What ticks me off is that NO ONE knows how to unlock in on the Japan IMPORT!
RAGE!!

So if anyone finds out about how to unlock it in the JP version PLEASE let me know. THE USA version uses button codes which can be found on brady games guide and soon on the codes section on Gamefaqs.

I could have done without the Ayumi... I think she's awful and I disagree in that song fits the game. Hell, I think Russian Roulette fit better than Startin'

Excellent game so far, I just got Tenkai.

Meh, I kinda prefer "Startin'" over "Russion Roulette," not too fond of Hotei's singing.

Was it button codes? I thought it was through completion of the game. Hey... maybe arena is NA bonus. Since we did have to wait a few more months after the Japanese release. Woo hoo, if true!

Anyway, I'm on stage 8 in the game, and I gotta say I'm loving it! The weapon/armour upgrading system is a lot better now. It takes a lot less souls to upgrade weapons and armour now, which gives players more chance to upgrade the library of weapons. Also, it's pretty cool how some of the weapons are the same ones from previous Onimushas. BTW, what does leveling up exactly do? Does the character just gain skill points out of it?

Oh and there are so many connections/references to the previous games, that us fans of series will definitely get more out of the game then the new comers.

Spoiler:
Minokichi, who's a decent from the descendant the same clan (mino clan) as the old hanging-upside-down-hermit guy from Onimusha 1 and 3. Haha, he even does the "Mmm, Haa!" when transporting you to revisit places. There's lots of referencing to Samanosuke, the oni with the gauntlet. Jubei's grandfather being the same Jubei from Onimusha 2 (rather obvious), who has met Samanosuke. Which is kinda indicating that the events of Blade Warriors, at least some of them, did happen. Then theres the consistent hinting that Tenkai is Samanosuke. There's also revisiting of Mt. Hiei. Even the appearance of Ako, which absolutely surprised me (using the true ending from Onimusha 3)

One thing that's bugging me is how there are some parts where we're givin text to read as opposed to a cut scene (which would have done a better job of telling the story). This is especially true for the text scene after defeating Sakon for the first time, have been better see scene said scene in action. Another thing is how sometimes a stage just ends off after defeating the boss and all of sudden we're in the hudeout again. Just a bad transistion in my opinion. Anyway, they're all just minor nitpicky things.

I think it increases HP and Oni magic. I'm not 100% on that, but I believe I saw the bars increase.

Hmm, maybe I dunno. I think you can only increase those bars by either using the jewels or from the bonus stats your weapon/accessory gives.

Oh how about leveling up the armour? The only thing that I notice it doing is just increasing the slots. Does increase defense too? Cause it's hard to tell, our hps (mine and the AI) always seems to get drained quite quickly, especially against the bosses.

Bleh, I need to flip through a strategy guide.

I'm glad you confirmed that there is a Japanese language option, thanks Hantei.

Man, I'm lovin this game! So far, the only thing bothering me in the game is how harder the Issen (criticals) are to do compared to the previous games. Before, I was going through the game doing criticals almost every time I was seeing an enemy. But now, it’s somehow harder and since I seem to die more quickly than in the other games, I don’t feel like doing it too much.

Kairi Li Mar 11, 2006 01:47 AM

The Arena thing was in the import and someone did unlock it, but didnt post how.

And the Japanese Official guide book had nothing on that, nor did they have the 2 player code.

When I played the demo, I also had a extremely hard time doing the issen. Can someone tell me how it's done? In Oni 2, it's before it strikes while in the 3rd you have to block and counterattack in a speed of light. How is it here? I mean, I make Soki's sword glow blue (R1?) and hopefully score an issen move.

Can someone enlighten me at the least?

I gotta admit, I had the same troubles too, cause was so used to the system in the previous 3 games. But once you learn some of the tricks you'll find that issens are pretty simple to do this time around.

The easiest issen to perform is the "Breaking Critical." The best method to activate it is to use your level 1 magic and then quickly mash at the square button. Another trick is to deflect an enemy's attack, where you block just before the enemy tries to hit you, if you see the enemy stagger then hit the square buton. One other way is to kick at the enemy when they're blocking, then hit square. Kicking at them while they block will break their guard and make them stagger much like a deflecting issen.

Also, chaining the issens is so much easier in this one, compared to Onimusha 3, as all you have to do is mash the square button after successfully performing one issen attack.

B4-Hunter Mar 11, 2006 11:47 AM

Well I just play it and I have to say that it's FUN! Chain attacks rox and chain critical blows are great!! Is it just me or weapon and armor is leveling faster? I was right about game time, it's around 20 hours just like I said earlier =). Ok back to slashing =D

Ramenbetsu Mar 18, 2006 03:22 PM

I just got this, Im only on Stage 3 and Im loving every minute of it. I messed up the first 2x on the 2nd boss thougb but got him the 3rd time! lol. Completely forgot about the Triangle button/Oni Magic, that did him in quickly. Can anyone explain the criticals though? I dont think ive gotten one yet.

B4-Hunter Mar 18, 2006 04:12 PM

First of all press R1 to lock on target then press Triangle to use Oni Magic after this move Left analog stick in the direction your enemy is and press Square as fast as you can. Then each time you're making critical change direction of your analog stick to get on next enemies. Remember to boost your chain and critical skill after each level.

Ramenbetsu Mar 18, 2006 04:21 PM

I got my first couple crits (one during the first Test of Valor) and i must say, this is probably my favorite Oni game so far, I love Jubei and Soki, i love how they interact, the cutscenes are awesome, all the characters are cool and intresting. Yep im lovin it lol.

(thx for the help B4)

B4-Hunter Mar 18, 2006 04:30 PM

Well there are team Oni magic attacks to but I don't remember how to do them. You will love Tenkai after you watch the ending =D. Besides Tenkai is my favorite now after finished the game and saw the ending =)

Rei no Otaku Mar 18, 2006 04:40 PM

Team magic is done by first having your weapon powered up to be able to use level 3 oni magic. Then just charge it up and hit L2 at the end. Your partner needs to have at least one bar of oni magic, and you have to have full.

B4-Hunter Mar 18, 2006 04:43 PM

Well I knew it wasn't hard at all =) I had finished Shin Oni 2 times but in 2nd I just save after you know why had left us in order to get us you know where. So I'm just visiting Dark Realms from time to time =)

Ramenbetsu Mar 18, 2006 09:41 PM

Big equipment question. Im on stage 5 i believe (the fortress stage) and I just got the Black Sword. Should i not be using/upgrading Lamentation? Ive got it to lvl 4 and im not sure if i should upgrade it anymore and start using the fire sword or maybe even the Black sword.

B4-Hunter Mar 19, 2006 01:08 AM

Black sword it heavy and his attacks are slow... wait I'll check what weapons I got my self to the MAX.

Ok first of all make sure to get LAMENTATION blade to the MAX cause of Lv.8, Lv.9 and MAX Lv addons. Then MAX out ENRYU (84) and use it till you get HABAKIRI (130) witch you will use to the end of the game. If you like to play in Dark Realm try to get to floor 50 and get EXCALIBUR (180) there then MAX it out. This way no enemie will stand in your way =). If you want I can do the same for all characters.

Ramenbetsu Mar 19, 2006 01:32 AM

Yeah, a weapon guide for the other characters would be nice as well lol.

Hantei Mar 19, 2006 03:47 AM

Cut scenes are great, but so few, a lot of it is dialogue. That's probably one of the disappointments for me, the lack of cut scenes. Like some missions start with a narrative and summary of what happend, then you hear some of the characters speak. Those kinds of scenes, should have been made into FMV, as it would have improved the presentation. They've done this way too frequently, really a disappointment, you'd think they'd be able to fit it in too, since the game is two discs. Oh well, the gameplay is hella fun though, with the story giving some great connections to characters/places/events of the past Onimushas. This is truely a game that fans of the previous titles will appreciated more.

Anyway for weapons... Definitely max Lamentation, as you get some pretty great bonuses out of it. Cutting Wind is another good one, as you'll generate wave attacks at max level (one of Soki's faster weapons, with a 6 combo). Infact any character that has a wave attack weapon, I suggest maxing, as they're the best ones IMO. Jubei's was Onimaru, which also gives +100 attack, probably one of the best weapons for her. Though lately, I've found myself using the Dragon Offer quite frequently for Soki and Juzumaru for Jubei, as both give +100% experience. As for Ohatsu, I'm using Guardian which gives some nice stats . Can't really say what for Tenkai or Roberto, as I haven't been given many good chances to use either yet (you'll see what I mean later on).

Don't forget to upgrade the armour too! Level 30 will give you max accessory slots (4 total), subsequent levels will raise the armour's defense points. Love how everything takes a lot less to level now.

Currently I've just finished stage 10 and clocking in at about 22 hours now. Mostly because I've been leveling in the many levels of Dark Realm. Which is hella hard, good thing there's a 2 player mode which gives you the option to go through it with a friend.

Ramenbetsu Mar 19, 2006 03:56 AM

Akane:
- Onimaru (Till the end of the game)

Ohatsu:
- Decadence
- Black Inferno (Till the end of the game)

Roberto:
- Gloves of Hades
- Class Zero Gloves
- Michael's Gauntlets (Till the end of the game)

Tenkai:
- Congoyashu
- Gundari
- Fudo (Till the end of the game)*

* Thanks to this weapon game is like a walk in a park.

You won't gain access till about Stage 8, I think. It'll be through Minokichi.

B4-Hunter Mar 19, 2006 09:20 AM

Oh and after you get to the Dark Realm on each 50th floor you have 2nd the best weapon in game. After getting there get back to hideout and MAX it level then use.

Ramenbetsu Mar 19, 2006 03:34 PM

I must be doing something wrong, I always seem to go into a boss fight with like half health lol, after a couple tries im usually able to still beat them but i never seem to have medicine when i need it lol.

Spoiler:
Tenkai's freeze move is kicking my ass =( I can get him down to about half health, but then somehow, he manages to get me frozen and since i only have half health, he does a combo that pretty much ends the fight.

UBER EDIT: Ok this genma guy is something else =/ the spider boss type thing...i kinda wish i had full health now lol.

LAST EDIT: I must say i love this game...why else would i try to beat a boss with this much health left: http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/2200/mg26865eb.jpg
I think i was somewhat out of my mind but i killed him, just had to be super careful. I had tenkai switch off between Praying while I was attacking and staying behind and recover so he'd stay alive when the boss attacked.

Single Elbow Mar 20, 2006 03:32 PM

If you're problem is going to boss fights with half-health, mine would be charging in with only 2 level 1 meds and 2 level 2 meds, half-health as well. :(

So currently at the mountain pass and I must say that this is one challenging yet enjoyable game. I like it.

Since I'm a weapon addict, Lamentation is now at the MAX while the other weapons are just floating at around 3 - 5 levels. Tenkai, Jubei, Roberto and Ohatsu I have no idea what to use. Tenkai's Yama, Jubei's wind sword or something, Roberto's default weapon and Ohatsu's Ice Rifle is what I currently use.

Ramenbetsu Mar 20, 2006 03:50 PM

Gah, Stage 6 =(

Spoiler:
I wasnt ready for bosses that can break my guard! lol. I beat roberto using to Oni Meds which was a bad move because im fucked when it comes to sakon. He does massive damage and you cant block that huge dash + the fire. I can get off 2 Oni magic before im out of MP and then Tenkai dies and its all over for me. Im gonna try to kill Roberto without using oni meds so i can just spam it on Sakon.

Spoiler:
Roberto's just let him approach and swerve to his flank when he's attacking. As for Sakon, just hit and run. Go to his back and he'll start looking for you. Attack, run away, evade all his spear attacks and let loose at his back.

Hope that helps :)

Hantei Mar 20, 2006 08:55 PM

I find it rather interesting that you guys are having item troubles, that's one problem I never seem to have. I gotta agree that the boss fights are hella hard, but I've not once ever run into trouble where I'm only stuck with a couple items.

Have you tried using issen attacks? That's what helped me defeat some of the bosses. Eg. Use level 1 magic then do a critical/issen attack (only works when the weapon's element isn't Ice), I find that this method usually does more damage than a level 2 or 3 magic skill. Or the deflect/break issen.

Also, try doing Combine with your partners when you're at the hideout. Grass + Grass = 1 Medicine, etc. You can also make some rare weapons.

I just finished stage 12, so feel free to give me shout for help as well.

Rei no Otaku Mar 20, 2006 09:10 PM

I've never had item problems either. It's ridiculously easy to keep your meds at full capicity. Actually I'm finding the game pretty average in difficulty. It's not super easy, but it's not exactly hard either. It's perfect.

Is it just me or is Ohatsu wicked fun to use. I love her.

Eleo Mar 21, 2006 04:56 AM

I played this game for a few minutes. It lost me at the very beginning with samurai robots and the main character pulling off stunts I already knew i wouldn't be able to reproduce. Always disappointed by the limits of plausible control by means of a control pad.

I guess when I was playing it, I got the feeling of a watered down Devil May Cry. I was hacking and slashing and doing cool moves, but there wasn't enough fluidity in my assault and the enemy's. Maybe I'm being a jerk for expecting such.

I'm sure I'll come back to this game eventually; perhaps when I complete BLACK.

Yeah for me game was damn easy and I never had a problem with any of boss fights. Item? I was only using them in Dark Realm... so I don't know where is problem here. It all depends on how do you master R1 + Triangle > Square + Left Analog Stick in enemies direction. If you manage to master it you can finish the game easily. I mastered it on stage 6 or 7 and from them I have 1/3 kills by critical =) so it was like 1500+.

This is horseshit. I mean, Luis Frois anyway.

Spoiler:
How the hell can you beat him with that time bomb on your body? What I did was use a co-op attack every now and then to eliminate the timer, sometimes use a special attack before the timer explodes so that I would be invulnerable. What if, by circumstance, you don't have any magic or you've exhausted your supply of MP meds, you're bound to die every time he casts that piece of shit? Also, I found out that he's terribly annoying as hell. Never knowing where those scalpels may fire so you can deflect them as well as the time bomb. What in the world? I beat him once but if the opportunity rises again and I don't have any MP invincibility moves like the co-op attack or the MP attack, how in the living world would I survive? Any easier methods?

Only problem for me was to figure it out that you can deflect the scalpels. After I got it there was no hope for him. It was quite a long fight but it wasn't hard at all. I don't think any boss fight was a problem for me... Now I finished game 2nd time and have Lv.99 or characters, armor and MAX level of all best weapons. Viva la Dark Realm!!

I usually just hacked away at him, when that happend. As for when he disappears, I just used the sword of purification (R2) at the scalpels that were in armed/locked-on mode, that'll reveal his location. Not much else I can suggest for that fight....

On a side note........

Just finished the game! Woo hoo! Clocked in to be about 42 hours, didn't go all the way to level 100 on Dark Realm though, stopped at 50 for all 5 characters. Just got too stressful after level 50.

Anyway, man, quite a few surprises at the end! Clicky for impressions, which contain HUGE SPOILERS, on the game's conclusion.

Spoiler:
Gotta say that the whole concept of everyone was being possessed/controlled I kinda suspected. Haha, I actually predicted that such a thing had happend, simply because we weren't allowed to kill Hideyoshi (altering history deal thing), though I was surprised that he ended up dying anyway.

Minokichi's death was sad, but kinda expected as he hinted at it when you talked to him prior to stage 16.

Then Stage 17, probably one of the best stages, I loved how everyone faced their nemesis on their own, that was fun. And man Munenori is evil, that guy just doesn't die. Oh and Fortinbras' (final boss) return, that completely surprised me. As well as the man in white being Fortinbras, I actually thought he was going to reveal himself as Soki's father or something. Tenkai's (aka Samanosuke) gauntlet being removable kinda threw me off too, didn't know you could slide it on and off, though it does explain why we didn't see him wear it earlier in the game. Then there's Soki's death which was kinda expected, as Arin kinda hinted at it, but the way he died was not how I expected (I thought he was going to turn evil and be consumed by the dark oni power as Arin warned about).

The end gave pretty good closure, Ohatsu moving on, then Roberto going back to Spain (no reason to stay, now that Ohatsu is married). Ah, and Tenkai (aka Samanosuke) finally going/continuing his journey to seal the gauntlet. Haha, at that point they made it painfully obvious that it was Samanosuke (even revealing that Arin was Ako, and saying the first two syllables of Samanosuke's anme), just incase people still couldn't catch on (probably also to give assurance to fans). Ahh, and the end, hinting towards a possible sequel starring Akane (who dawns an eye patch now) with the new minokichi.

You stopped at 50? Awesome.

Because right now, all of them (except for Soki) are at level 60. Soki's approaching about.. 69?

If you ask me, Ophelia was more challenging than Luis Frois though.

So now I'm at the Toyokuni Research Facility (the second facility) and I can't really get a grip on the story so far on my location. Could anyone just summarize it up? I get confused with all these events and whatnots. Thanks. :)

Just to avoid confusion, I'm talking about Dark Realm level and not character level. Character level, I finished much higher (I think 90+ for all). But if there isn't confusion, then DAMN, you made it to level 69 with Soki? After 30 the mobs were just getting horrendus, that I just wanted to get out as soon as I got their 2nd best weapons at level 50. Haha, even B4-Hunter knows how going beyond 50 is frustrating.

I think at this point, you've found out who the real villains are behind the Genma Trees and Omen Star, etc. You're at the second facility to destroy the second Black Stone to cut off Hideyoshi's energy source. I'll try to give a better summary after I've loaded up my game.

Hell yeah!! If not those flying mage that use some magic seals on you that you can't move or drain your Oni Power it would be easy as a pie =). I just can't get right timing for them. It's hard for Soki to take them out and any other flying monster. People on GameFAQs board say that they use a lot of "reviving bells" to get to 100 floor. Well I didn't die even once in DR...

After going through the game's credits again I found out that the music composer is Hideyuki Furasawa. Who happens to be the composer for Chaos Legion (loved the soundtrack for that game)! No wonder the music for DoD rocks!

Double Post:
Also, ordered 5 of those Onimusha Arms Collection from Play-Asia. They're pretty sweet! They're also much larger than I expected too. Got me Samanosuke's Onimusha sword from Oni 3 (which also came with his gauntlet and a sheath for the blade), Tenso, Chigo, Ekei's Spear, Magoichi's Unikuzushi (I think that's what it was called, its the one he used to finish off the 3rd Ginghamphatts fight) and Kotaro's Roga Kunai (Magoichi and Kotaro's weapons came together). Also each one comes with a sort of trading card. Might order some more from Play-Asia, unless I can find somewhere else selling a full set first, as I'd love to get my hands on the Bishamon O, Enryu and Raizan. Also, I heard the secret one in supposed to be Soki's Lamentation from DoD.

NP, it does come with a OST, hence why they listed it under music (even though technically it's a book).

Oh and incase anyone somehow missed it, Godai and #gamemp3s released game's OST recently (the same one that can be found in the Shin Onimusha Dawn of Dreams Official Complete Works).

I decided it should be Capcom week, as we have a string of new Capcom releases lined up for the week…starting with tonight's release! These were both released as books with CDs in them, something Suleputer seems to be doing alot recently. “Shin Onimusha” is damn awesome, the music is by Hideyuki Fukasawa of “Chaos Legion” fame! I love that soundtrack! There is also really good cinematic music composed by an American composer, check out the release for more info.

Thanks to Rockman for “Rockman EXE5DS&6″ which features music from said games, as a bonus Rockman has provided us with the card file for the special promotional Modification Card (137-C010, Cyber Beast Falzer) for Card e+ Reader for Rockman EXE 6 Cyber Beast Greiga & Cyber Beast Falzer which was included with the book. You can get the link off our site.

Jamie Christopherson's , the game's cut scene composer, compositions are really impressive. And of course Hideyuki Fukasawa's work is outstanding as usual.

Also, it looks like they're going to release a 3 disc OST for game that comes with a video UMD. If this one is the complete OST set, then I think I might just order it.

Shin Onimusha Special Pack Original Soundtrack + UMD - VIDEO - Shin Onimusha The Story [3CD+UMD]
Quote:

Set of music from the latest release in the "Onimusha" series, "Shin Onimusha Dawn of Dram" and bonus UMD with beautiful visuals from the game. Includes three CDs filled with dramatic numbers UMD with 120 minutes of video made via the same method that produced the graphics in the game (subject to change).

That website is funny.
You don't have to subscribe, just get the link of the thumb. and change the last "1" to a "2". Example:

Anyway, those have crappy quality.
I'll upload these later:

Aww nuts, NOW which one should I get? THe book and the OST are both so tempting...

Also off topic, I didn't know you like Rule of Rose Anubis, Cool!

Ramenbetsu Apr 8, 2006 11:48 AM

Im thinking im gonna have to get both, I was mainly getting the book for artwork. Id really appreciate it if you could upload those anubis, thanks.

Yuri Enrico Apr 8, 2006 03:50 PM

Just finished the game :)
One of the best in the serie's! Love the surroundings, like the glowing cherry trees. Not that very difficult, but did a lot of time at the dark realm. Ohatsu is really hot, especially at the end when you see here panty's :D
Completion time: 34.30u :D

Second play time is really a walk in the park with the weapons you complete the game with :D

Spoiler:
I was glad to see that Minokichi was still alive in the end, funny little guy. Though made me sad that everyone parted and went back to an normal life.
Always had the feeling that Tenkai was Samanosake...

One thing i dont' really get, did Soki went into the Star to become the God of Darkness, or was it something else?

Hantei Apr 8, 2006 06:05 PM

Haha, yea, I'm just gonna order both (the artbook and 3 disc ost are just so hard to resist). I love the series enough to spend money on the sweet merchandise.

I wasn't too sure about that too.
Spoiler:
I think he went up towards the Omen Star to seal it and purify the lands (part of his power I guess, hence the sacrifice).

Ramenbetsu Apr 8, 2006 07:23 PM

Bleh, Ive been doing Dark Realm for like 5 hours now, im up to 18hrs and im only one mission 10 lol. Ive got Victory Gale Max, one of Jubeis weapons maxed and im maxing onimaru now because it finally dropped for me...funny thing is, im not tired of this game yet, far from it.

Sigma Apr 8, 2006 07:29 PM

Spoiler:
Finished the game myself. One thing I thought was weird was the god of light was Fortinbras. Samanosuke KILLED Fortinbras in Onimusha 1 right? So why couldn't he kill him this time then? Or how in the world was he even alive now? only weird thing I found, the plot in general I didn't think flowed aswell as past Onimusha games, but for a sequel it would be nice bringing back Samanosuke as the lead prehaps meeting Jubei (Akane) along the way on her own journey

Spoiler:
Maybe the God of Darkness has to use up all his strength to do this and thus give his life to destory the star, seems like a blance between the Genma and Oni you can't have one without the other

Rydia Apr 8, 2006 08:19 PM

I fixed your spoiler tag in that last sentence since it was spelled incorrectly.

From what I see it, to counter the God of Light's power, Soki sacrificed his whole life and all of his power with it to dissipate all the anomaly that went on.

I'm not even sure if I should even buy both. Hell, I just might you know. This game is awesome and I wouldn't mind spending money for merchandise, including the calendar that's coming about next year (or this year, I suppose).

Ramenbetsu Apr 9, 2006 02:43 AM

A Calendar? I think we should start compiling a list of all the Oni 4 merchandise lol.

Anubis Apr 10, 2006 02:22 PM

Here are the artworks I promised: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8877ZDAE
It has the GamePress logo, but the resolution is great.

Ramenbetsu Apr 10, 2006 02:59 PM

Greatly appreciated Anubis! I just beat lvl 12, game is still awesome so far. Im really enjoying Soki and Jubei as playable characters, i dont like the "feel" of the other characters.

Sigma Apr 10, 2006 06:47 PM

I only liked Jubei and Tenkai as playable characters I didn't care much for the others or thier stories at all. I was just annoied you always had to have Soki in your group set up I'd of liked to just played as Tenkai and Jubei

Single Elbow Apr 10, 2006 11:59 PM

Excuse me? Soki's the main character even.

Anyway, I finished it the second time. God those Special Costumes look awesome. Also, how did you get the last 5 weapons in the game for each character? (MINUS that code you have to input for the last weapons however and those you can get in the Dark Realm).

Shirokage Apr 11, 2006 03:20 AM

I'm fine with most of the characters, but I just hate Ohatsu. She got on my nerves, and she wasn't particularly useful (at least I didn't think so anyway).

Hantei Apr 12, 2006 10:08 PM

Woo hoo, my Official Complete Works book, along with 11 more of those onimusha arms collection, came in the mail today!

Pretty sweet, bah, but the top left corner in the back got damaged, dammit. As for the Onimusha arms collection 6 of the 11 ended up being repeats, ahh that sucked.

Anyway, in the book there's a character connection chart, character/boss illustrations and CG art, bonus costume designs, monster illustrations, concept designs for characters (looked like they were going to give Tenkai a beard and much more older looking face), illustrations of some of the game's locations, the whole scroll art thing from the game (from the cut scene at the end of stage 1), storyboards and script for all the game's cut scenes, section with interviews with the VA's (at least what looks to be) and staff, some illustrated artwork, and closes off with some of the merchandise released like the drama CDs, trading figures (looks like there's TBA, wouldn't mind getting a Tenkai), and manga ("Twilight of Desire" looks like it features Tenkai and Arin's backstory). Oh and the OST is in a cardboard page at the back.

http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/323...ialcomplet.jpg

As for the Onimusha Arms collection, the 5 different ones I managed to get were Oyu's Gladius and silver shield, Jacques' Enja (it's actually articulated!) and gauntlet, Marcellus' sword and shield from Onimusha 3, Genma Samonji (Onimusha 3, gained from when you absord Nobunaga's sword) that comes with a Magical Jewel, and Samanosuke's katana and Kaede's sacred dagger from Onimusha Warlords.

...Can someone scan this and translate it?

Hantei Apr 14, 2006 01:22 AM

Oh I second that. But if I remembered correctly, I think Udon or Tokyopop announced that they will be translating and Shin Onimusha manga (it was announced in Diamonds Comics previews, forgot which issue). I know "Night of Genesis" has been confirmed, pretty sure "Twilight of Desire" will follow it.

Single Elbow Apr 14, 2006 03:52 AM

I only got the Gladius and the Silver Shield. But I shall order again.

Hantei Apr 14, 2006 04:11 AM

I think I might wait till I can find somewhere selling a full set before I order again. I pretty much got all Onimusha 3 weapons, just missing some from Onimusha 1 and 2 (only missing 5, 6 if you include the secret one). So I'm more likely to get another repeat, if I do order again. Though, I'm really dying to get a Raizan, Enryuu, and Bishamon-O...

Kairi Li Apr 14, 2006 09:55 AM

IF Tokyo pop is translating them, then I'm so gonna buy them. I've seen the mangas here in Hong Kong in Japanese book stores, but I didn't buy them cause they were in Japanese, kinda pointless...

Ramenbetsu Apr 14, 2006 12:13 PM

I'm really antsy for a nice wallscroll lol, I havent ordered my complete works just yet, waiting till i have enough for the 3 disc soundtrack as well.

YoMan Apr 15, 2006 06:15 PM

Man this game is awesome. Finished it today and i got to say i am very impressed. Well done Capcom. I liked every aspect of it, the battle system, the lvl up system, the music, overall graphics, the cut scenes and the plot.

I thought it was very cool that they threw in alot more weapons, items and such this time around. Although some of the weapons were utter crap it didn't hurt the overall impression. In addition to all this new stuff they could have maybe included the same thing for armour, but that would mean a hell of alot more modeling jobs to be done at Capcom. Anyway, maybe something to think about the next time around.

The plot was very enjoyable, with some minor twist here and there, nothing big though. The plot had a very nice flow in it. There were never any major stops in it. There were new additions to it all the time.

The cut scenes were pretty good. I especially liked the second part of the intro and the last one before the final fight. And yes i am talking about the FMV's, prerendered, not ingame.

I gotta hand it down to Hideyuki Fukasawa and Jamie Christopherson, they have done an incredible good job on the soundtrack. There are some tracks that are more enjoyable than others, but overall very good. Soki and Tenkai's themes are amazing.

As for the Dark Realm, i finished it with Soki, all 100 lvls. Got bored after finishing it with him so i ended up not clearing the realm with the other characters. Getting the game over screen with Jubei on lvl 36 didn't help on the motivation either:)

Overall a very good game and i would recommend it. Let's hope Capcom is in the process of cooking up number 5 now :)

Single Elbow Apr 20, 2006 12:27 AM

I'm so happy.

I actually have Roberto and Tenkai's final weapons. TAKE THAT 6 HOURS OF CONTINUOUS PLAYING FOR EACH CHARACTER.

Man, my head hurts like hell after each character.

Hantei Apr 20, 2006 12:55 AM

Nice, I also got Roberto and Tenkai's finals, took me about 5 hours total (about 2.5 hours for each). Haha, but that's cause I went through the levels with my brother.

Still gotta work on the others though, can't wait till my finals are done, so I can get back into gaming!

Onimusha's in there.

Hantei: Awesome. I want to do each of them everyday. Since two are down, three more to go. Good luck on the exams.

As for me, the reason being is because of the Dragons and Oni pendants. Tomorrow: Jubei and Ohatsu if there's time. Soki's the final.

Hantei May 7, 2006 08:35 PM

Phew, got all their final weapons. Pretty much got every single weapon, accessory and item now, just missing 3 of Soki's weapons which are rare drops. Haha, they're all at MAX level now too. I think it's time to play hard mode now. Also got gold on all Test of Valors, which helped unlock the Special 2 costumes (which I think are the best of the 3 available).

Also to update on the Shin Onimusha manga, I can confirm that it is being translated by UDON. Stopped by their booth at the comic con today, they had rough print edition for preview (story is a prequel to the game, and it's looking pretty good). The project manager for UDON, Jim Zubkavich, told me that volume 1 should be hitting stores in 3 weeks (currently being printed). They're also translating volume 2, Twilight of Desire, and that's due out before the end of 2006 (or so the bookmark thing said).

Kairi Li May 8, 2006 12:25 AM

Nice! Im heading to to the USA, LA for college in 2 weeks, I hope I can find it there. If you can direct me to places that might have it, that would be awesome!

Rei no Otaku May 18, 2006 02:33 PM

Just beat it.

Spoiler:
I was surprised Soki died at the end, though knowing the way most games go he'll probably be back. I don't like that. If someone dies, leave them dead. Same with Minokichi. It cheapens the sacrifice that the character is making. Also where did Roberto's love for Ohatsu come from? All of a sudden he's saying he loves her out of nowhere. Well he must not have pursued it too hard since Ohatsu got married to someone else.

Oh yeah, wtf Fortinbras? That was a ridiculously annoying boss fight. The very last one. It wasn't hard, just time consuming. I hate fights like that, just let me beat the crap out of the guy.

Anyway, it's obvious the next game will have Jubei as the main character. Sporting her stylish new eyepatch XD A Yagyu should have an eyepatch, it's just the way things she should be. I'm calling it now, Munenori is still alive. His death was far too ambiguous. Plus getting tossed off a cliff is like the universal way to kill someone, yet not.

Excellent game.

Not sure exactly where, I'm guessing anywhere that sells manga. I normally get mine from my local comic shops, so try somewhere like that. Oh and just checked Diamond Comics' site, the manga should be in shops on Wednesday (May 24). You could try book stores though, as I've seen a lot of them carry manga.

It was mentioned shortly after he found out that Ohatsu nursed him back to health. If I remembered correctly you had to chat with him shortly after he regained consciousness to find out.

Spoiler:
Actually I'm sure most of us assumed as much, as soon as Jubei mentioned that someone was still alive (and that she hadn't returned to the Yagyu village). What I hated was how Munenori just wouldn't die, lol, it's rather annoying. Heh, especially after seeing him again with Fortinbras in hand, I was like "WTF? Doesn't this guy die?" Seeing him tossed off the roof like that, well, pretty hard to believe he died of that, especially since he didn't die by Jubei's blade.
I was actually rather surprised that Capcom didn't announce another Onimusha at E3, or much less anymore info about DMC4 and RE5.

Jan May 25, 2006 12:42 AM

Fucking eh this game kicks ass. I got to the second disk on Nomral mode, but I kinda felt that it was going too quickly. So I restarted on HARD mode. I admit it takes a LOT longer to kill things(especially bosses) but I feel like I'm getting more gameplay. Even so it's still pretty easy even for me (I'm not a gamer). Onimusha games have always been a favourite of mine though. Only one I didn't play that much is the second one. I probably should though.
It's got a very adicting quality to it and the characters are pretty neat to. I can't stand playing it with the english voices though. Too bad you have to switch to Japanese sound everytime you turn it back on. Can't save the option for that as far as I know.

Hantei Jun 7, 2006 08:40 PM

Soundtrack finally came in.

Also recently finished reading the manga (which was released a few weeks ago). Really good BTW. I highly suggest reading it, as it does give some great back story. They mentioned stuff like what exactly the Genma trees are, why Soki has a strong grudge against Hideyoshi (and how he got the name "Kaijin no Souki" aka "Oni of the Ash"), as well as a deep backstory on Jubei (how she got the title, and why she's so determined on killing Munenori). And of course further hinting of Tenkai being Samanosuke. Anyway I won't spoil the story, but definitely pick it up if you're aching for more story.

Oh, and according to the manga the second volume "Night of Genesis" should be out this fall.

http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/9...nimusha2xn.jpg

Rei no Otaku Jun 7, 2006 09:43 PM

The soundtrack you got, is that the same one that was released on #gamemp3s? Since that was missing a lot of tracks from the game.

Also is that the English version of the manga? If so I'll probably pick it up.

Hantei Jun 8, 2006 03:43 AM

Nope it isn't same OST that gamemp3's released. This one is full OST (as far as I can tell anyway, totalling 69 tracks), 3 disc set that comes with a UMD (unfortunately region 2 only, may import a JPNS PSP now). However, I've been informed by Godai that they plan to release this one by tomorrow. So everyone will be able to get their hands on a digital copy!

And yup, that's the english version of the manga, translated by UDON (the guys that did/are-doing the Street Fighter comics).

Im coming real close to just buying the OST, Ive never really fallen head over heels before like this and i still need to beat the game! ugh stupid graduation. I only have like 3 levels left though and summer has already begun so it should be done before the end of the week. Im at some beach ready to assault the pharmacy...but idk what to do, Soki and Jubei are pretty maxed out (i do not have the uber pwnge weapons, those flying enemies in the Dark Realm are bitches because i dunno how to kill em with Soki or Jubei.). any reccomendations?

Not sure. I do know that the 3rd disc sounds like it's filled with all the cut scene music. Some of the tracks are even combined together (like the Intro movie tracks). So technically there's more than 9 other tracks. Oh and the last track on the 2nd disc sounds like it was something they composed specifically for the OST, as I've never heard in the game. Here's YSI link to it for your listening pleasures, not sure on the tag though (that's what I could make out from the katakana, and Hideyuki Fukasawa as being composer is what I assumed, it could very well have been Jamie Christopherson).

Yea the first OST was ok, but the book itself was well worth it. As for the UMD, it looks like just a bunch of cut scenes (though, pretty sure it's more than that). Won't actually know till I decide to import a Japanese PSP. According to CDJapan though, the UMD supposedly has 120 minutes of video made using the same graphics that were used for the game.

Well for those flying enemies, just use lv2/3 Light magic and lock onto em. Or you could try getting a friend to go through DR with you, as they play as Ohatsu or Tenkai (these two are probably the best when it comes to air bourne monsters).

Rei no Otaku Jun 8, 2006 10:10 PM

For flying enemies I just used certain moves. With Soki I used his launcher, Jubei that one where she leaps into the air (back, forward, attack), Roberto that uppercut (back, forward, attack).

Thanks a lot for the link =) and yeah there are always tracks that are hard to get from game and we can never see them on OST. I don't know why I'm not so obsessed with the game... Sure I was playing it for 4 days in a row but just don't know =)

EDIT:
LoL this track is in the game and I remember hearing it even few times. I'm sure of it I have good hear for music and stuff. Only the beginning is new or it was not played in game but for 100% it was in game.

Rei no Otaku Jun 9, 2006 10:47 AM

That track seems like a medley of various songs from the game.

Ramenbetsu Jun 19, 2006 04:09 PM

UGH! i still cant get these fucking flying mages! I try my lvl2/3 oni magic but thats only gotten me 1 kill so far. I also dont have a friend i could play it with =(

I AM SO FUCKING PROUD OF MYSELF! 2 hrs but i did it, 50th floor of DR. Got Exaclibur..god im falling in love with this game...AGAIN. My hands are killing me but i love it. With the orbs I got, im maxing out Excalibur and putting the rest into Jubeis armor because shes next for DR

I need to calm down and find money for the Night of Genesis manga.

James913 Jun 22, 2006 10:52 AM

Flying mages

Yeah them things suck! the only way i was able to kill them was by pure luck but there has to be a better way some how.

Has ne one got soki's wepon on lvl 100 of dark realm? and is it worth goin all the way for it?

Rei no Otaku Jul 15, 2006 02:08 PM

I got the first volume of the manga. It's really good, and I like how it goes into Jubei's backstory. I hope all the characters get that kind of treatment. I'd definitely like to see more about their pasts.

Also the original Jubei got wicked old O.O

Kairi Li Jul 15, 2006 03:05 PM

Are the mangas from Tokyo pop? If so, I'm defintly gonna get then along with Kingdom Hearts

Hantei Jul 15, 2006 04:27 PM

Nope, it's translated by UDON, probably best known for their Street Fighter comic series (which is outstanding). They did a pretty good job though, I definitely suggest picking it up. Can't wait till volume 2, "Twilight of Desire."

All you need to kill those flying mages are upward slashes. Basically Ohatsu won't give you trouble, or Tenkai.

Also I got their last weapons and they're awesome. Go for it.

If I remembered correctly, I read somewhere that it supposedly contains some sort of drama/scene using the game's engine. Won't be able to find what's exactly on it till I can afford to import a JPNS PSP (unfortunately region locked).
