E3 Expectations and Reactions Thread
Like, for reals, where's the E3 thread?
Anyways, use this thread to post your expectations and predictions for E3 announcements and press releases, and feel free to discuss/react to said press releases here too. My biggest concern this year is going to be Nintendo's conference. Last year was unforgivable, but right now i think they have a chance to redeem themselves. Depending on what happens here, we could see the end of Nintendo as a serious gaming company, and it's official re-branding as a casual games producer. That said, i know we have Zelda Spirit Tracks to look forwards to, as well as rumors of a new Mario game for the Wii. Iwata also said last year that development teams were hard at work on "Zelda and Mario titles for the Wii". I wonder if this means we'll see Spirit Tracks released alongside screen shots and demos of a Wii Zelda game, but we all know we're going to have to wait until 2011 before it's actually released. |
Obviously, the most anticipated game at E3 this..and pretty much every year, is the release date for a Radical Bikers sequel. It's just so obvious that the people are begging for it, but no one wants to give the fans what they want!
Actually, in all seriousness..... We need more Buck Bumble |
I'm looking forward to seeing who's gonna crash and burn this year. Chances are, it'll be Nintendo.
I'm also hoping to see something about Half Life 2 Episode 3 and that Warhammer 40000 Space Marine game. I'll keep my fingers crossed. |
I'm anxious to see what mystery game Capcom keeps giving cryptic clues about. There are TWO games that will be revealed at E3 that are not known yet. One will be a playable Demo, and the other will just be 'Announced'.
Specifically they mentioned the following:
That narrows down the list a bit, the most popular title suggested is a new Monster Hunter game that is not Tri or Freedom United (Wii and PSP respectively), and following that Power Stone 3... one more (realistically unlikely) canidate is a Rockman Dash / Megaman Legends sequel. Sources: Kotaku - Capcom's E3 Lineup Rife With Mystery - Capcom Capcom_Unity (Capcom_Unity) on Twitter Whoops! Browser Settings Incompatible |
Onimusha is being tossed around as the most likely candidate. I also agree with that assessment.

|
Well, aside from a new online Wii Fit game that was announced, they did say they're working on a new Mario title... and there's always a chance they'll debut Pikmin 3.
|
I'm hoping to see Starfox for the Wii this year, and not a re-release of Starfox Assault with WiiMote gameplay. Seriously Nintendo, that's just being lazy. I was considering getting the first Metroid Prime with the Wii controls but since they're selling it with 2 and 3 as a trilogy pack for 50 bucks, no thanks. It may sound like a deal, but why should I have to buy Prime 3 again?
I'm expecting Microsoft to steal the show again this year. Nintendo has just sucked for the last two years. All they do is talk about how they proved the disbelievers wrong with Wii and showed how everybody is getting into it with past titles, kids and adults laughing, and grandparents smiling with their false teeth flying out as they bowl with the WiiMote in Wii Sports. We don't want to see that, we're hoping to see a show of trailers for the upcoming games and possibly a few demonstrations. Please, no more Wii Music. Oh lord, if they get that soccer mom back again this year... |
I'm hoping to see some new gameplay footage and maybe a playable demo of BrĂ¼tal Legend. I'm also waiting to see how Sony tries to justify their decision to cut out UMD media from their new PSPgo altogether and use a Memory Stick Micro instead of getting in line with the rest of the world and use media that's consistent with the century we're living in.

I'm expecting Nintendo to actually have the best news this year. And no, "Disaster: Day of Crisis" doesn't count.
The best news should be from 3rd party developers. Yes, I'm looking at you, Atlus, Level-5, and Capcom. |
I'm not really anticipating any software from nintendo but I am waiting to see how they make fun of themselves. I want them to shake their sticks to hard and so fast that their eyes roll back and give out to public orgasms.
As for ps3 and 360, nothing too exciting at the moment. Maybe Bayonetta cause I'm a fan of action+girls+demonic clothing. and trico too |
Is Kojima the only one left to officially announce anything? Everything else has already been announced just days before E3 this year which is weird why they wouldn't wait till their E3 press conferences.
|
I know its impossible, but can I still wish for Zone of the Enders 3? Can I, Kojima?
|
Let's see how Modern Warfare 2 shapes out. The trailer looks insanely promising. Needs more details on the game.
Also I wanna see how Darksiders: Wrath of War turns out. Looks interesting to boot at the very least. |

Reggie could walk outside and give that annoying snowboard bitch from last year's conference a quick facial, take a dump on the stage and then eat it while fingering an audience member's asshole with a hot glue gun, and the Wii will still sell 9,000 million units and Wii Sports 2: This Time With Frisbees will make more money than the GDP of Europe. |
It's almost as though E3 is a pointless, expensive spectacle that 99% of potential customers pay no attention to!
Almost! |
But, but!
They tried E3 without the expensive spectacle part, and suddenly 100% of customers didn't care! This way, game nerds can be hypocritical all over again when they deride people for being all "celebrity obsessed". "Why do you care what Brad and Angelina do? They're so unimportant and overrated. Oh, I just remembered, I need to check CliffyB's Twitter and Major Nelson's Squawkle accounts!" |
- Blast Corps 2: Time To Get Fantastico for 360. Limited edition includes lifesize model of Thunderfist.
- F-Zero XXL for Wii, developed by Monster Games. Story mode has 297% more old man getting angry over bets of two million space credits at the bar. Hard butt rock version of Captain Falcon's theme to be played everywhere. - Sony finally announces Lemmings 2 for PSP/PS3/PS2/Betamax. Includes depressed Lemming. - D3 brings back the Simple 2000 series. I don't fucking care what platform, they bring it back. - Earthworm Jim 4 revealed, 2D platformer. Launches next week alongside the new cartoon series. These are all very reasonable expectations. |

Oh, this is insider knowledge! I'm the janitor of Rare's janitor. Hang on, gotta post it on Twitter.
|
Man, Infernal's expectations are pretty awesome.
Either way, I guess I am waiting to see, uh... some more Prototype footage? Maybe some Mass Effect 2 information. |
I hope Nintendo brings Ravi Drums again or shit even Sony and Microsoft could benefit from him.

Yay! Motorstorm Pacific Rift DLC announced. Screw the rest of you, I am happy about this.

I'm just looking forward to the new metal gear game. the countdown's down to less than twelve hours - too bad I have to be at work when it ends...
Speaking of which, the sun's come out on that page - wild... And instead of all the cryptic numbers, letters and faces, there's the number 8 fading in and out... Or maybe theas E3 mashed together - who knows... |
Looks like Microsoft aren't even going to wait for E3 proper to make their big announcements.
E3 has become a bit of a joke now though as Pang suggested. Nintendo will doubtless tell us all about Wii Dog Trainer 7 and Yet Another Mario Game Consisting Primarily Of Minigames 24, Sony will try to persuade everyone that the PSP is a viable platform even though nobody ever pays for any software on it and Microsoft will announce a new Halo game or that FF XIV will be on Xbox. And the new Kojima game will be another Metal Gear and nobody will really care, although I'll at least laugh if it's on 360. |
Microsoft E3 Press Conference Live Stream/Blog: News from 1UP.com
and uh i guess Microsoft Press Conference - E3 09 Live Video Game Demos at GameSpot for streams of microsoft conference let's enjoy watching some nifty pie charts |
Joining in, though I somehow expect a complete disaster with no big surprises from all three parties this year.
|
|
new splinter cell looks fine!! it's the first time I get interested in the series.
|
Woah Crackdown 2. Didn't they claim they definitely won't be making that? Bastards. Oh well I like.
Too bad nothing else is worth mentioning! EDIT: Okay, the guy failing speech 101 in the presence of the Great Kojima was also quite entertaining. |
project natal showing of a full body version of ricochet game:
Tsunoda: "This is a full-body experience, not something you can just do on the couch by waggling your hand!" hehehe love backslash. |
Their little paint project was powerfully retarded, but to be honest I think ''Project Natal'' seems kinda cool. I've always liked this kind of futuristic shit. Nothing fantastic will probably come out of it on the Xbox 360, but by the time the next generation of consoles is out, it could be great.
|
The Lionhead thing was so deliciously fake that it made me crack up. Hey guys look we solved Megahal! Too bad all the voices were pre-recorded which means there was no way that conversation wasn't entirely staged. :3:
I guess their preoccupation with a Pedophile Training Ground emulator explains why all their games are so half-assed despite spending about 5 times as long on one as the average developer. :333: |
I liked the all navigating with voice and hands movement, but I'm not sure how reliable it is. I'm impress by the technology behind the 3D movement detection, if it work like they said.
But really that boy thing was kind of creepy... |
|

Microsoft's conference was alright. The games they showed off/announced look pretty rad, but I couldn't give less of a shit about the wagglecam. http://j.photos.cx/1243884858297-8e6.png THE FUTURE |
When you guys were watching that 'family' do the motion controls, did anyone else find it annoying more than a 'wow' experience?
Do you KNOW how annoying it'd be, if you had to drive with your hands in the air, supported by nothing? Do you know how annoying it'd be you had to do the tire changes and wait every few laps? Screw that crap |
Quote:
|
So they had time to tell us about Facebook and Twitter, but not that they're bringing a full 360 game on demand download service later this year that won't even require MSP?
Fuck you, whoever slated that conference. |
Oh goodie. Another Left 4 Dead.
Episodic gaming my ass, Valve. Where's Episode 3? I better see it in action this week. Yes, Left 4 Dead was a hit and I'll get this, but COME ON! I better not be waiting on it just for the next game, "Portal: Cake is Delicious." |

METAL GEEEAAAAALLLL? PETER WANTS YOU TO PLAY HIS LITTLE BOY FANTASY SIMULATOR Additional Spam: <nuttyturnip> Our TVs are going to look extra ghetto with a Wii sensor bar stacked on top of the natal |
They confirmed Crackdown 2, I'm content.
|
Huh? They've basically said as much for the last year. "When we're done APB."
I guess it's officially official now though, although I don't think anyone really didn't think it was coming. |

All I know is the gamers will get the blame and not the publishers, the publishers will just shrug it off. [/rant] sorry I couldn't resist a copypasta of a mini rant I just had on this topic elsewhere |
EA, other than showing us Revan in The Old Republic, I was let down.
Oh wait, you're EA. Great job based on my expectations! |
The only problem I have with watching E3 (This is actually my first viewing of it), is that with each new person that comes out and talks about the upcoming game reminds me of the god damn movie Good Burger when Kenan is in Mondo Burger.
They take it FAR to seriously and it's almost laughable
...hmm, 4:17- onward, i can't tell the difference between E3 and Mondo Burger |

|
Things continue to leak out. Metal Gear Solid: Rising is coming to the PS3 and PC. The PSP title is called Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.
...And the Lords of Shadow game that Kojima's working on? It's a new Castlevania. |
Kojima's doing a Castlevania game?
This might end up surpassing the N64 Castlevanias as the best 3d ones in the series. |
Looking forward to Nintendo pulling sells numbers out of its ass and announcing a direct port of a 10 year old game tomorrow.
|
So they're going to do what Namco did with Klonoa?
I mean, is it OK for one company to do it with a(n admittedly rare) game, while Nintendo does the same? |
Looking backward to Miles having absolutely zero self-awareness

Besides Punch-Out (which is sort of a remake), how many other titles has Nintendo released? I recall most of them being ports of the the same old GCN games we already enjoyed. So far all we know about is them porting all the Metroid GCN games over into a collection, which isn't a bad deal, but I am hoping they don't spend this E3 showing off gimmicky software and bragging about their sales like they have been doing every other year. I want some full blown games aimed at the hardcore gamers who supported them for so long. |

So wait, 4-player co-op equals Mario in the "4th dimension"? What the fuck, I was expecting them to whip out some crazy thing or something. Game still looks interesting though.

This is possibly actually worse than last year's conference, how is this even possible
New Super Mario Bros Wii and Golden Sun DS are both pretty cool, but everything else has been the same casual crap they did last year, but actually even worse. Also Reggie and the other guy talking about the Motion + thing capturing movement and everything seems retarded after MS yesterday. |

Vitality Sensor? Seriously?
Okay I'm done watching this shit, let me know if any GAMES appear later on. |
This just in: Wii Thetan Meter for casual scientologists worldwide.
|
They announced a vitality sensor...
Well, at least Sony doesn't have to worry about having the worst conference this year. |
I think the idea of simultaneous multiplayer for Mario could have appeal... if it doesn't degenerate into the "clusterfuck for coins" method of multiplayer that was in New Super Mario Bros.
MOTHERFUCKING MEGATON EDIT: SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2 SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...ty-e309--2.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...ty-e309--1.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...y-e309-key.jpg |
Finally something interesting, Mario galaxy 2! Now with more yoshi!!
|
Aside from that reused boss with a new method of fighting him, Mario Galaxy 2 looks fantastic. It's been so long since we've had Yoshi as more than just a bonus for perfecting the game.

NEW METROID, FUCK YES
Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a welcome surprise as well. |
Quote:
EDIT: Wow, Team Ninja Metroid. Now that is surprising. |
Damn they go out with a bang but with no zelda :(
So I guess only Galaxy 2 and the new metroid looked really good. Seriously Sony can't be that bad after that... |
Super Mario galaxy 2, you know in PC land we call that kind of game an expansion pack, also looks like the new metriod is going down the more dark and serious route.
|
HOLY FUCKING SHIT TEAM NINJA METROID WHAT THE FUCK IT LOOKS AWESOME SHIIIIIIIIIIIIT
|
Looks like it fits right in with Fusion's story too, using that commander who calls her "lady." Of course, the story could be absolutely horrible and the game would still be great with action like that Ridley fight they showed.
|
Gotta love comparing pages 3 and 4. No Star Fox or Zelda, but hey, this is damn good.

Team Ninja Metroid was the only thing worth watching that conference for, but it's still not enough to actually get me to buy a Wii.

|
I like how Team Ninja Metroid is made of plastic.

A while ago (like on friday) IGN said they have it on very good authority that Retro studios was working on a Zelda game, but made it clear that this project had been canned.
Now, didn't Retro say on twitter or some thing similar that "we will be pleasantly surprised." Only logic dictates that if Retro would have something ready for today, it would be a Zelda title. So what the fuck happened retro? What were you going to surprise us with? Where's my Zelda title? |
Quote:

Yeah I'm pretty sure that was from a fake Twitter.

ok, thanks for clearing that up

Once again, no Star Fox. Don't get me wrong, there were some good announcements in there within the boring sales charts and bullshit but come on, Nintendo.
And fuck that soccer mom for returning. On second thought, don't. She doesn't deserve it. |

I'd say that a couple of Mario games, a Metroid game and a remake of Golden Sun is pretty fucking weak as a lineup. I mean, I'm sure for people who like that kind of thing that the new Mario game will be great but it's not exactly shocking or exciting news is it? The reaction to the review here of the first Golden Sun would suggest that nobody really liked it much so who could possibly be excited about a remake except Miles and the chances of Nintendo not making another Metroid game, given their love of using all their old IP for at least two games a year, was pretty slim. Like I say, I'm sure the Nintendo fans amongst you will be overjoyed that these long-running franchises have not been abandoned but there's little news there for casual users of the format to be interested in. |
The cool part about this is watching Miles be completely oblivious to how his comments about "Nintendo needs to support the hardcore gamers" have fallen completely by the wayside after a whopping four games in the next year get announced.
Do you want to know why they don't make more, Miles? It's because you're already content with four after foaming at the mouth just a few hours ago. Say what you will about Nintendo, but they fucking know their audience. |
FINAL FANTASY VII ON PSN TODAY!!!! JUST ANNOUNCED!!!!
|
What. FFVII only?
Hell, Jap PSN has Vagrant Story in their ranks. NEEDS MORE GAMES OTHER THAN FFVII. |
Final Fantasy XIV.
Sony had the whole E3 conference for ONE minute. When they said "Online" they lost it. They lost it all. |
WHAT!!! FFXIV!
So this is the new mmorpg Square-enix was working on :) I'm a fan of FFXI and still playing it, so I'm really excited about it :) FFXI was the first successful MMORPG on console so we can only hope that FFXIV will be as good. |
Quote:
|
It's wishful thinking, Mo0.
It could've possibly been the reason that I actually purchase a PS3. BECAUSE it's an MMO, I immediately lost interest. But hey, a person can dream, right? :( |
I wouldn't really call it sequel though.
and if I remember Rapture was the code name for the next MMORPG of Square-Enix and it's been in development for some time now. It's called Final Fantasy XIV but I see it more like a spin-off, like FFXI was. |

|
Quote:
|
yeah not everyone like MMO because of the monthly fee, but you can't deny that MMO are popular and this will probably sell a lot and cash a lot of money.
Maybe not by you but by, many more. |
Well, Sony showed some good stuff. I'm disappointed that they didn't demo Heavy Rain or Final Fantasy XIII Versus, but there was a Rockstar North exclusive out of nowhere, and their motion control shit looks cool to me (as does Microsoft's Natal, but I think there's a better chance that Sony's version will actually get used in real games before 2015).
FFXIV was exactly as Luxary said, they had the whole E3 for one minute, before "Online" showed up; you could literally hear the disappointment in the hall. Still, it's the first big online RPG on a current-gen console, who knows, it might be cool. All in all, good stuff by Microsoft and Sony this year, and Nintendo was once again a disappointment to anyone who's not a bored housewife or still stuck in 1994 and unable to let go of Mario, Zelda and Metroid. |
See it would be one thing if this final fantasy 11 part 28 wasn't a grindfest and did something interesting with being an MMO but no it'll just be like every other grindfest but prettier. Whatever. You have fun with that thing.

So now that the press conferences are over, what you guys think of the e3 this year? Was it what you expected, more or less or as lame as last year?
For me I'm pretty exited. Some good surprises from Microsoft and Sony has a solid line-up for the next year. Nintendo on the other hand fall last again with almost all casual game showed and only 2-3 interesting titles. Motion control was a big thing this year too, now every console has they motion controller gimmick, but I think Microsoft might have something good with they project natal, not just for games but for the practicality of using it to navigate the menu (if it works correctly for voice and motion recognition) |
I was pretty excited about Nintendo's stuff. Call me a sucker for the interesting titles they had there (New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Golden Sun DS, Metroid: Other M), but that was more than enough to make me impressed with them. Looking forward to their releases.
As for Microsoft, the only thing I was really interested in was Left 4 Dead 2. Natal looks promising, but I'm reserving my judgment until other things come out for it. Sony almost had me with Final Fantasy XIV, as mentioned earlier, but MMO dropped the bomb on me pretty badly. They had a really nice showing of games (Uncharted 2, The Last Guardian, the lawl trailer for the PSP Metal Gear Solid game). Overall I was impressed with them. Ranking them in order for what I liked: Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft. As I said, call me a sucker for what Nintendo is offering up, but hell, it's working. I would care a little more about Sony if I actually had a PS3 or a PSP. Microsoft, I suppose, just needed to show me a couple more games I could be interested in instead of having Facebook, Twitter, and Last.FM attached to the 360. Plus, Koopa Kids might be making a return in the New Super Mario Bros. Wii. http://gonintendo.com/wp-content/pho...Koopa_Kids.jpg [ source ] |
Shit, there was an E3 this year? I was asleep the whole time because of how much E3 sucks but what did I miss.
Someone was talking about some new Metroid Gaiden where Samus travels back to America after Prime 3 to avenge the death of her father which seems pretty cool and all but, really I just want to know. Is Halo 4 coming or what. |
Basically, I liked what Nintendo had to offer. the only thing wrong with it was no Wii zelda. If they had given us that with everything else i would have forgiven them completely. As it stands, they're getting there.
Microsoft didn't wow me. It was forgettable, and i really don't recall anything was particularly excited about. Sony convinced me to buy a PS3, but it'll be a while before i have that kind of money. They did enrage me though, just the way the kept on talking about themselves, and how they're offering us the future. I was stoked for FF XIV, but as soon as i found out it was an MMO, i lost interest. I really wish they'd drop that shit, and get to fucking work on Kingdom Hearts III. Loved Last Guardian btw. Want to see more of it sooooo bad |

While inherently awesome, that seems like it'd be a "prequel/side story" of sorts since the events of Reach took place before the first Halo:CE, cannon-wise anyway. It's also the best of the Halo novels but that is neither here nor there. As for ODST, isn't that supposed to be September sometime this year? Regarding series hypocrisy: lol. |
I'm pretty sure I'm biased since the Wii is the only current-gen console I own, but Nintendo's showing excited me more than the others. Even though people will say "yet another Mario game," Mario games have always been on track in terms of production quality, gameplay, and flat out fun. Mario Galaxy 2 should be good (though I hope they don't call it that.) and Super Mario Bros. Wii brings in 4 player co-op for the first time in a Mario game, which I'm really excited about. I'm not all that big of a fan for Metroid, but it's still interesting, since Team Ninja will be behind the wheel this time. Golden Sun DS, assuming it's a sequel, is also great news. Contrary to the GFF Gamer's Month's overall feeling of the game, I enjoyed Golden Sun on the GBA quite a bit.
The only thing that stood out from Microsoft for me was Natal (once again, probably because I don't own a 360), and it's still too early to tell how that's going to turn out. Sony had a pretty good showing with Uncharted 2. I'm actually with Chaotic on this one and that Final Fantasy XIV would have been gold for me if it wasn't for the "online" that came out partway through. Their motion controller seemed interesting, but it's not much that hasn't been done before, that and it's still quite clearly in prototyping. The demonstrator wasn't exactly very good with it either, but it does have promise. The LBP/Mario Kart bastard child actually seemed pretty cool, IMO, though I forget what the name of it was. Custom track creation really piqued my interest. I'd been planning on getting a PS3 sometime soon already, and Sony has held my interest enough during the conference to keep me to it. In my opinion: Nintendo's Conference > Sony's Conference > Microsoft's Conference |
This is the year Nintendo goes out of business for sure
That will teach them to alienate hardcore gamers like me |
Halo 3 ODST - Set for 9/22/09
Halo Reach - Set for #/##/10 ODST looks like it would be something worth playing. Not 100% digging how it could possibly feel like a free-running thing. Never did like that about games (s'why I quit Burnout Paradise after so long). Also a little skeptical on the new stamina system he was talking about. Kinda falls back to Halo 1's shield/health system where you actually had to go hunting down medpacks every 2nd or 3rd gunfight. Dual wielding is gone, so no more SMG/Plasma rifle combos, however, I'm glad to see they've returned the pistol to its roots with a zoom and 12 rounds. Firefight mode sounds like it'll be a hell of a blast, despite the fact that people will whine saying it's a ripoff of Horde from Gears 2 or Nazi Zombies from CoD:WaW. It's co-op features like this that make games nowadays more fun. New Super Mario Bros. Wii sounds pretty promising. I've demo'd the DS version and came to like it, so I'm more than willing to give this a shot. Hell, it's gotta be better than most of the games Mario's been in as of late. Now, I'm no God of War fan, and I personally doubt I will get GoW3, but I can say it looked very beautiful. Since God of War is not on my to-buy list, I'll fill that empty slot with MAG. Yes, it's another FPS, and yes, sadly, it's on PS3. However, it looks that good enough of a title to buy FOR the PS3. Like ET: Quake Wars, it focuses primarily on objective-type matches. Sure, I'd much rather prefer a simple Deathmatch style, but meh, I've got friends getting it, so I know it'll make it more fun. As far as Final Fantasy... well... at least they broke from MMO-style combat for XIII before announcing another MMO in XIV. Let's hope the new ATB system doesn't piss people off too much. |
I like how
Sure Nintendo presentation sucks so bad that I almost fall asleep but when they announce SMBWii, SMG2, Golden Sun DS (I'm sure it's a not a remake as someone said) and the new Metroid, I was excited. For a person who own all three console, IMO Microsoft presentation 'won' this year but nothing interest me beside Final Fantasy 13 (though I'm just going to get it for the PS3) and maybe whatever developers make for Project Natal. Sony comes in second, was only interested in a few games like ModNation Racer (I was excited for Final Fantasy 14 until "online" popped up!). |
Quote:
I enjoyed what I saw of the Nintendo conference. Mario Galaxy 2 floored me, totally unexpected. There was so much more to explore in Mario Galaxy that I'm excited to play it! The Wii super mario brothers looks promising. I wonder how fun the coop will be, though. I'm a huge fan of local multiplayer, especially coop games, so I hold out hope. My thoughts drift to how much BIGGER this mario brothers game could be. How many different worlds? How amazing can they make it? They don't have the limited DS hardware, so we could see something very exciting! |

Supposedly a remake of Super Metroid. Oh yeah, Team Ninja is doing it so it'll be fucking awesome. etc. |

No, I'm suggesting it.
If nobody else was brave enough to suggest it that's too bad because I'm suggesting it now and the opportunity for the rest of you to suggest it is long gone dibs baby dibs If I interrupted anyone's enthusiasm for the Sega Activator Mk. 2 I apologize |
Maybe now that E3 is live they'll have to hire hot chicks that have taken college-level speech courses instead of trotting out exotic foreign developers with fantastic things to show us about AMERICAN GAMES.

Good job SE, you could of at least come up with an original idea instead of FFXI-2. The races are even the god damn same! Mithra, Galka, Hume, and Elvaan.. they're all in there.
I don't know what to think about this. This will probably kill FFXI, and I doubt many will join up on FFXI-2, er excuse me, FFXIV after experiencing the fucks up with FFXI. I really don't see any reason why to go try it when I'm already playing FFXI. Hi-res mithra booty isn't enough to make me switch, either. Just more of the same but prettier.. |
Also can somebody sum up E3 for me? I didn't actually watch it.
|
We are not really sure if its the same races, even if they do look a lot like them. The galka type character didn't had a tail in the trailer and we didn't see any mithra.
For all we know they could just be place holder... but the phrase: "you must join hands... once again" really make it seem like a sequel. I don't know, they might be a reason story wise. Maybe it's set in the future or FFXI, or in another dimension or something lol I really don't know. I guess we'll have to wait for more news. |
Every Final Fantasy is like the same shit over and over again. The advent of FFX-2 is proof that Square-Enix has grown wise to the fact that you people will gobble up anything.
|
You can say that about any genre of games. Especially sports games, and FPS. Final Fantasy has far more variety in my opinion.

Story notwithstanding (and even then it has some of the more fucked moments in it (the Ronso die if you don't do stuff in a specific order what?)) those battles were the best FF battles ever. |
I would also like to antagonize and insult an ambiguous group of people to somehow disassociate myself.
Yeah, what the fuck is wrong with you goddamn morons? |
Ambiguous? The group he's deriding is very specific.
"People who like Final Fantasy, but didn't like FFX-2". And I feel comfortable in joining him in dismissing that group of people as a bunch of total shitbags, for various reasons. |

Looking forward to tomorrow the most for 3rd party developers, as the "Big 3" aren't announcing new consoles, so its up to the 3rd party again for the real news. Also overlooked: Fuck yeah Revan in The Old Republic. |

so I guess I'll wait for an explanation from Square-enix. (this sure does make FFXIV less interesting...) |

Look at all these fucking video games!!! ( ) None of these are no good video games to fucking video game with because I dislike COMPANY which I have not the fuck. HARDCORE casual grandmas ARKANOID.
This E3 is worse than a ham sandwich that has been dropped into the sand pit. The Internet will feel my text for certain. |
A ham sandwich that has been dropped into the sand pit is at least somewhat edible, Infernal.
I fear that we are not dealing with a ham sandwich... but a turkey sandwich. |
WHAT A SCOOP! =O This further fuels speculation about everything!

Supposedly the canon has Revan as light side, too, so. |
Yeah Fuck FF14 MMO, Old republic bitches.
ps don't Star Wars characters live a loonnnnnnnnnng time. Like Yoda. |

The Star Wars MMO is a lot more interesting to me then 14, I mean XI-2. To try and answer your question, I think some do live for a really long time; but likely most of them get killed long before they would die of old age, by a lightsaber or blaster or pissing off a wookie and so forth.
|
The more I think about it, the more I'm warming up to FFXIV being an MMO. I enjoyed FFXI for a while. Was it flawed? Absolutely. But it was a fun game. I had a lot more fun with it than I did with WoW.
So long as they make some innovations and actually fix the mistakes they made with FFXI, this second coming of the Square MMO could be the one that is successful, for them and for the players. |
Has it been confirmed to be an MMO or is the keyword "online" all we know for sure? Online multiplayer co-op action/RPG seem to be popping up a lot lately, so maybe Square Enix is jumping on that bandwagon.
|
Final Fantasy XI logo as the same online key word:
http://www.markeedragon.com/images/b...ffxi-cover.jpg and to more precise: FINAL FANTASY XIV Under information the game genre is: massively multiplayer online role-playing game oh and btw I just notice Nobuo Uematsu is doing the soundtrack! |

I think they have more to tell in the Revan plotline, so I don't think they'd give away the ending, in a sense, by having him as such an influential dark side character. @BZ: theoretically, yes, dark side characters can use techniques to extend their life, but 300 years would seem to be stretching it. From an in-universe viewpoint, it would allow the Siths to effectively win the war, because they could simply wait until the light side masters died off or became too decrepit to defend themselves. Yoda's race just happened to be one that lives ~1000 years. Additional Spam: Quote:
If they can clean it up significantly, and make it more appealing to new players, I'll certainly check it out. |
Although chucking Revan back into the new Old Republic game would certainly be good for the hype machine, he'd only be there as an npc since it's an MMO isn't it? I mean, everyone can't all play as Revan right so you'll be some random Jedi and I'm willing to bet it's a random Sith pretending to be Revan, saving the real Revan for a KOTOR 3, featuring the Exile as well. It'd certainly make more sense to me to have a KOTOR 3 where you're travelling the outer reaches looking for Revan and the Exile, rather than have either of them as antagonists in a game set 300 years later.
In terms of Sith surviving that long though, I'm pretty sure all the Sith in KOTOR 2 were supposedly hundreds of years old, Darth Treya having trained the other two, who both have powers of unkillability in one form or another. |
So far, I'm excited for FFXIII, hoping it will be fun at least, but not excited for it's shoddy voice acting. I read somewhere "the voice acting is shaping up pretty good." No it's not, it sounds like another mouth abortion like FFX did. The Last Guardian trailer stirred up a pretty fierce desire to see more. And since I'm not an MMO person the FFXIV and Star Wars MMO stuff has just been pretty over my head.
So far nothing too shocking, though PS3's new motion controller has me a bit confused but whatever works for you Sony, whatever works. |
Quote:
Hamauzu's work on FFXIII sounds pretty good too from the trailer, but it's really not been the same since they ousted Uematsu. Oh wait the best song in that trailer was written by Uematsu too. :D Also how did nobody talk about the epicly awesome updated trailer for TricTHE LAST GUARDIAN :333: |
I thought due to the time lapse in news it would get cancelled but Alan Wake looks incredible.

Um, I can already accurately weigh my cat using weighing scales, why do I need a Wii fit board to do it?
Weigh yourself, then pick up the cat and weigh yourself again, the cat's weight is the difference, which I imagine is exactly how it'll work in Wii Fit 2. Hardly a feature that's going to change the world, unless people don't own bathroom scales I guess. |
I was mostly being sarcastic. Still, between Personal Trainer: Walking and Wii Fit Plus, Nintendo is really cornering the market on pet fitness.
|
They're cornering the demographic that believes what they see on fitness infomercials; that's for sure.
|
Now Nintendo just needs a wireless ab-jiggling attachment and they'll own the TV-fitness market.
|
When they played the teaser for Metroid: Other M, I was floored. I mean, Team Ninja doing Metroid? Awesome. Can't wait to see how that pans out.
And the whole "Any objections, lady?" was great. Throwback to Fusion! And Golden Sun DS? FUCK YES. |

Kojima has announced his four projects: Metal Gear Arcade, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Metal Gear Solid Rising, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (the mask rumor). Peace Walker and Castlevania will be out by 2010. There's no release date for Rising or Arcade, however Arcade will hit arcades in Japan first followed by a worldwide release.
|
...well, I think I just ended up missing all of E3. From what I can get, Microsoft released an Eyetoy+ that won't be developed for, Nintendo churned out more shit from their franchises, and Sony let Square Enix loose with their shittastic 3D models.
God. Damn. It. (At least there's Modern Warfare 2.) |
Moving on to games that they're showing off this year, I found some things on Nintendo's E3 website. After a brief reprieve with Disaster: Day of Crisis, Nintendo has Monolith Soft working on a new RPG-- that being Monado: Beginning of the World for the Wii.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...creenshot2.jpg Also of note is Nintendo's quiet announcement that The Glory of Heracles is making its way over. That was the most recent entry into the series in Japan, and a first for North America. It was a pretty darn good RPG released for the DS in... early 2008? I don't think it was 2007. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...engel/logo.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...creenshot7.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...creenshot6.jpg |

Heracles came out in Mid-2008, I think it was mid-July?
In any case, it's still an awesome game. One of the best looking DS titles, for sure. |

(don't forget, you're talking to the ONLY PERSON EVER who didn't have a problem with that retarded speed ball boss. You know the one. The one that made it impossible for regular people to win the game.
|
AMG! Castlevania: Lords of Shadow looks really really good. I think I'm anticipating that as much as God of War 3. I am preased!
|
Hopefully they won't do the obvious "main character becomes lord of darkness!" plot twist. Otherwise it looks really good. Robert Carlyle <3
Also I don't get why more people aren't psyched for it, new look Splinter Cell Conviction looks astounding. I really wasn't looking forward to the game based on the previous iteration but this new style has me completely sold. I love the visual style, the pace of the action and the execute system looks to work really smooth too. Game looks what Bourne should have been. |

EA = Electronic Anti-Christ?
Sure, we'll roll with that one. |
Christians sure do pick some weird shit to complain about. I mean of all the things in computer games that could possibly offend a slightly nutty christian, they're pissed off that a game allows you to escape from hell? Have they not played Too Human? You get to fucking invade hell in that one, butcher your way through legions of dammed souls then nuke the place on the way out. There also weren't too many complaints about Kratos fighting his way out of the underworld in the first God of War, although to be fair there aren't too many fundamental, ancient Greek polytheists around these days.
|
Considering what happened with the likes of Dan Brown's Davinci Code, this likely comes from a not altogether unique propensity to presume their beliefs are somehow uniquely untouchable. There are "worse" games they could be protesting, but there's no doubt these people are acting on heresay: "did you hear about this game where you can leave hell? TO THE CONFERENCE"
|
Wow. A 3D Castlevania I think I might actually want to play. Looks great and they even got a really good pool of vocal talent to go with it. =)

But yeah, I was enthralled by this game when they showed it both during Microsoft's and Ubisoft's press conferences, even though it was the same demo both times. Both presentation and gameplay look incredible. |

Where else would you grab a ventilation technician for information and the conversation would go: "Something going on with the ventilation system?" "Ow... ugh... hey, who are you?" "Pretend I'm Harry Tuttle." "Ugh... who?" "I'm an ill-tempered and heavily-armed heating engineer who's asking questions about your ventilation system." "I... I guess... I guess it's not working properly since the blackout." "So, I guess it shouldn't take much to shut down that big fan I wanted to." "I... I... I don't know. Why would you want to do that?" "The adventure... the travel." "Uh... okay." Chaos Theory is obviously the pinnacle of the series (and the stealth genre in my mind) and a game any stealth fan should play through (Xbox or PC, not the PS2 or GC versions, though), but I enjoyed the first two just as well. I have Double Agent for the Xbox (which is different from the 360, PS3 and PC versions), but I've yet to play through it. When they originally showed what Conviction was going to be like, with Sam's new bum look, moving through public crowds in daylight etc, I was interested in the story because of Grimsdottir's framing, but gameplaywise it didn't seem to offer me anything I loved about the Splinter Cell games. This new style is still very different, but displays a lot of the qualities I like, only with more energy and swiftness. |
I actually have all four Splinter Cell games (for PS2 :(, though I actually have the PS2 and PS3 version of Double Agent), I've just never got around to playing them. It's a series I've always known I'll like (I read Tom Clancy's books, not to mention that I love stealth games, so it's a perfect combination), but for some reason I've never started on them. I probably will sometime soon since I'm excited for Conviction now, but there's still no rush since there's no time frame for the PS3 version.
And I haven't been following Conviction from the beginning, but I think I heard it was originally running on the same engine that they eventually used for Assassin's Creed (which it definitely sounds like from your description). I guess that wouldn't have been too bad (since I'm a big AC fan), but what I've seen of Conviction from E3 this year seems much better. |

That part in Conviction where you plan out your attack is sick. |

So, I saw the trailer for the new Metroid and I have to say: it makes SO MUCH SENSE for Samus to have melee attacks. I honestly don't know why she hasn't in a canon game yet.
Excited. |
