After checking out the list, I figured I might as well pick up either Too Human or Infinite Undiscovery... Can't decided though... Help?

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Apr 23, 2009 09:17 AM

Get Too Human. I really like it and I know a lot of other people do whereas I've not really heard any good things about Infinite Undiscovery. That said, if you're after a traditional rpg rather than an item farming dungeon crawler, Too Human isn't for you.

nuttyturnip Apr 23, 2009 09:22 AM

I already have the few games on the list that interest me (Soul Calibur 4, Infinite Undiscovery, Samba de Amigo). Besides, CAG has known about this for a week, and they have a habit of buying up copies before the sale starts, then returning them for a price adjustment. With Best Buy, I'd be surprised to find any of the good titles in stock next week.

Tails Apr 23, 2009 11:39 AM

More like the Best Buy Disney: Cory in the House Sale.

only game on the list worth owning imo

nuttyturnip Apr 23, 2009 11:40 AM

I can't make "that's the only way you'll see a black person in the White House" jokes anymore. :( :( :(

I don't have Devil May Cry 4 or Too Human yet so I may swing out and pick them up. Any idea when this is actually supposed to go down? Nevermind. Thanks nutty~

Skexis Apr 23, 2009 11:49 AM

As long as no one cleans the place out for pricematching, I'll probably get Fracture and Too Human.

Maybe Operation Darkness, but my patience for tactics games is limited, so.

RacinReaver Apr 23, 2009 12:01 PM

That've gotta have better PS2 games that need clearing out than that list. :(

guyinrubbersuit Apr 23, 2009 12:31 PM

I'd like to pick up Alone in the Dark, Condemned 2, Operation Darkness and probably Infinite Undiscovery all for the 360.

Misogynyst Gynecologist Apr 23, 2009 01:00 PM

Bourne Conspiracy and Quantum Of Solace are two really, really good games - especially at that price!

Dark Nation Apr 23, 2009 01:54 PM

I didn't care for Too Human based on the demo, but if you guys think its decent enough, I might spare 10 bucks for it. The only other games in the list that might be worth getting are maybe Bourne and Universe at War, and mainly due to the low price, Soul Calibur 4.

I'd avoid getting Operation Darkness though, the demo left a very sore taste in my mouth and I can't imagine the full game being much better.

Kaleb.G Apr 23, 2009 01:57 PM

What the hell is "Naked Brothers Band"?

Also, thanks for the info, Lux.

It's shovelware based upon some Nickelodeon show.

That's all you really need to know.

Adding on, it was supposed to be a reply to Disney's Jonas Brothers.

The only difference is that the Jonas Brothers could actually sing and make hits. Not particularly good ones, but you see my point.

Really? I thought everyone hated Too Human except for Plarom. I never bothered with the demo, but maybe I'll give it a try later. Infinite Undiscovery was actually pretty fun as long as you don't mind the screwy story pacing and some of the characters being very unlikable.

Didn't Naked Brothers Band start a year or two before the Jonas Brothers craze? Every so often they advertise TV movies like it's some big thing, but I don't think they ever actually developed a big following.

Has anyone here played Silent Hill: Homecoming? It's the only thing on that list that interests me and I don't already own. As much as I'd like to say $10 is fine for Operation Darkness, the demo was pretty terrible and cheap as hell.

It's a toss-up. The Naked Brothers Band movie was shot in 2004, but didn't get shown by Nickelodeon until January 2007. The Jonas Brothers toured as early as 2005, and appeared here and there on kid's TV, but didn't really get visual recognition on Disney until 2007.

And damn you for making me look that up; I'd rather the EPA find porn in my browsing history than this.

As I was reading the first paragraph I thought, "Why in the hell does he know this?" It's a good thing you stated that you did research.

But from the list, the only things that seem worth picking up are DMC4, Operation Darkness, and Infinite Undiscovery. Now I have plans for sunday.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Apr 23, 2009 03:32 PM

I wonder just how many posts we're gonna get next week stating "Oh, thank God I only paid ten dollars for this".

Most of them will be for Operation Darkness. Anyone who buys Naked Brothers Band deserves what they get.

A permaban?

RacinReaver Apr 23, 2009 03:55 PM

Actually, looking over the list, the Singstar Country Bundle isn't that bad of a deal if you like the Singstar games. I own Amped and Rocks the 80s since they're fun for girlfriend and myself after I've had a few drinks and don't mind singing like Barry Gibb.

Chaotic Apr 23, 2009 05:07 PM

I'm pretty sure the Imagine games have more quality in them than the Naked Brothers Band alone.

Even so, at least the Jonas Brothers could sing. Regardless of how bad the songs are. <_<

Dagobert Apr 23, 2009 05:48 PM

I might pick up Soul Calibur 4, Overlord and maybe Lost Planet for the PS3.

Rockgamer Apr 24, 2009 01:05 AM

I wonder if SingStar Vol. 2 is the one with the mics, though regardless of whether it is or not I'll probably end up getting it. I'm actually waiting for the wireless mics to come out over here, but I wouldn't mind being able to actually play the games until that happens (I don't see why they can't just use regular USB mics like every other freaking singing game).

Other than that, I'll probably get a few of the other games as well (SCIV in particular, since I enjoyed the demo but wasn't willing to pay $60 for it at the time, and I'm still not willing to pay the $30 that is is at most places), though I wish some more of the multiplatform were for sale on both systems (DMC4 and SH:H are two I'd definitely get if the PS3 versions were on sale).

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Apr 24, 2009 05:28 AM

If anyone here does pick up Too Human, I'm always up for a few runs on co-op. I've got a couple of low level characters ready to go and could always start a new bioengineer and go for the unstoppable achievements I've not got yet (All of them except Hall of Heroes, fucking dark elf bastards).

WolfDemon Apr 25, 2009 01:53 AM

I'm definitely getting Pure and Silent Hill on 360. I'm also thinking about Devil May Cry 4 and Quantum of Solace.

Anyone who doesn't have Pure should take this opportunity to get it. I don't even like racing games, except for Mario Kart, but Pure is a very close second, and I think it'd be hilariously fun racing you guys on Live.

Misogynyst Gynecologist Apr 26, 2009 12:15 AM

So is this shit "in-store only" or what?

Most clearance deals like this will be.

Newegg has a bunch of cheap games though, so if you don't mind paying $5-10 more, you can get a lot of these titles there.

Yeah, I didn't realize they were doing it online, too. Looks like all the ones they stock online will carry the same price.

Congle line of abuse. Or is that conga-line. Or congaline. Apr 26, 2009 12:49 AM

I'm having a hard time detecting sarcasm here. I mean, I guess Golden Eye is considered a classic, so maybe it's not that much of a stretch...

Misogynyst Gynecologist Apr 26, 2009 12:55 AM

People who defend Goldeneye need to return to the 1990s to play it. The rest of the world has moved on.

[M]artin Apr 26, 2009 01:36 AM

Sadly, my main console is still a PS2. If only that PS2 list weren't so crappy... but I guess most PS2 games can be found cheap-ish nowadays, eh?

DarkMageOzzie Apr 26, 2009 10:43 AM

I went, but the majority of the listed 360 games were not available. I got there right when they opened too.

IdleChill Apr 26, 2009 11:01 AM

Yeah, same here. Here's my haul in. I don't know why I bought Samba De Amigo...Dreamcast nostalgia, I suppose. The only games on my list that I didn't get were Soul Calibur IV, Too Human and Devil May Cry 4.

http://i41.tinypic.com/2cf6t0i.jpg

Quantum of Solace was a bonus pack with a free T-Shirt and it was the same price as the regular disc, so I went ahead and grabbed it.

Misogynyst Gynecologist Apr 26, 2009 11:05 AM

I am envious of Idlechill's take.

As for me, I was the second one in the door. Fracture and Soul Calibur were not even stocked, which meant the only other thing I was interested in was Silent Hill, which I grabbed. I also got Quake Wars (I haven't played Quake since the first game) and Infinite Discovery since I haven't played a Japanese RPG game in a trillion years.

God, I wish I had found Soulcalibur :(

Manny Biggz Apr 26, 2009 11:38 AM

I tried to get my hands on Infinite Undiscovery and Too Human, but they were nowhere to be found in three different Best Buys in the are. Ended up with Pure for 360, TNA Impact for PS3, and 5 less pounds sweated from 90 degree weather. Guess it wasn't so bad in the end.

Buizel Apr 26, 2009 02:11 PM

Wow. At my location (Seekonk, MA) they have LOTS of Soul Calibur 4 for both PS3 and 360; I picked that up for PS3. I was looking everywhere for Quantum of Solace because my brother wants it but they have none. :(

So I got Pure for PS3 instead. It's was fun since I rarely go to any kind of B&M store anymore because I do most of my game shopping at Amazon. :)

Dark Nation Apr 26, 2009 02:54 PM

Looks like the stores are randomly stocked: When I asked an employee about some of the other titles, it was revealed that only 1 copy of Soul Calibur IV was at my location (NW part of Phoenix, AZ), meaning it got snatched up right away, and they only had Pure on PS3 (apparently selling more of the 360 version), and they were sold out on Too Human earlier in the morning. They did have a couple copies of Bourne and Infinite though.

At any rate, I ended up getting Quantum of Solace and Universe at War.

WolfDemon Apr 26, 2009 04:09 PM

My store had no copies of Soul Calibur or Pure, so I got Quantum of Solace, Silent Hill, and Red Alert 3. I was pretty sad about Pure, but my wife reminded me that Wal-Mart price matches with ads, so I went over there and grabbed it.

Those of you who couldn't find what you wanted at Best Buy might want to print out the ad and check out Wal-Mart. The only problem is the only a few of the games are pictured out of the "over 100", so you may have trouble getting them to let you have things like Quake Wars or Fracture. Either way, it's worth a shot.

Paco Apr 26, 2009 10:45 PM

I had to help my old man slang herbs at the Mexican Mall™ this morning so I couldn't get out to check anything out until after 3 pm and, by then, EVERYTHING was gone. Except for two shelves with Rock Revolution (:tpg:) and one copy of PURE; neither of which I was interested in.

Fuck it. Better luck next year, guys!

WolfDemon Apr 26, 2009 11:11 PM

The sale is going on until next saturday, so you've got all week. Don't give up hope!

Misogynyst Gynecologist Apr 26, 2009 11:26 PM

The sale was agressive de-stocking. I don't think Best Buy is ordering any more.

WolfDemon Apr 27, 2009 12:18 AM

Probably not, but like I said, Wal-Mart price matches. I may go back later this week after I get paid.

russ May 4, 2009 09:57 AM

I expect all of you who picked up Quantum of Solace to play its multiplayer with me at some point this week. It is surprisingly fun, despite the fact that I'm always put on terrible teams.

Do I have your gamertag, russ? I have only two or three achivements left (I think they're for Golden Gun MP?) and would have a blast helping you boost.

russ May 4, 2009 10:28 AM

My gamertag is melorous. I'll add you when I get home from work this evening.

Misogynyst Gynecologist May 4, 2009 10:29 AM

Hit me up with a game invite whenever. QoS is dope as hell since it seems to have chased off the Gaylo fags somehow.

WolfDemon May 4, 2009 06:37 PM

I'm also down. Been having a lot of fun with that game since I got it. Waffles n Bees is my name.
