End of Eternity of Fate and Resonance. Tri-Ace should not be allowed to name things.
Seriously, the site's been up since April 10th and there was talk about it even before then. Normally this site is ahead of most other places in terms of info on upcoming games, what's going on? Here's the trailer if anyone is interested.
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/48018.html |
Goddamnit, and here I thought it's related to Asimov.
Oh well, my bad. |
Oh, look. Pre-rendered CGI Scenes.
Let's take a look at what Tri-Ace has offered us recently:
|
Thet was a nice Cg video , ill wait for gameplay.
like Taco has said , not very hyped to anything they make untill i see gameplay. I bet it'll be another Jrpg... |

There would be a thread if there was something to talk about, or any reason whatsoever to possibly look forward to this. Taco's right. It's not like there's a lot Tri-Ace has done in the last decade that hasn't eaten bowls of dirty assholes for lunch, so.
I think the best thing one can say is that it didn't turn out to be Undiscovery 2. Thank God for that. |

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...ngel/Vpbox.jpg Nine years ago, guy. Yes, one game does not equate to "a lot," but I say VP's enough awesome for ten years or so. |
Yes. I know that. Uhh...thanks? I guess?
Unfortunately http://media.strategywiki.org/images...e_2_Boxart.jpg http://www.gametab.com/images/ss/ps2/2874/box-l.jpg Pretty much shat on any leeway anyone should give them. If you didn't want to just nitpick my choice of words, the proper response would have been this anyway http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/1...xart_large.jpg Because at least it's not a total bag of smelly, rotten vaginas. Also, if you're going to be anal, Star Ocean 2 also falls within the 10 year release window, since you seem to be going by Yankee dates. |
Seems they've released a new trailer with very little information for
Edit: So this is actually just the Hi-Def version of the video in the first post, oops. |
Strange, I don't see any differences between that "new" one and the first trailer.
This would normally perk my interest, but the guns kind of killed that. It's not a good sign, to me at least, when there's already one bullet time effect used in the first trailer. Not in an RPG. I'm not going to write it off until I see more about it, but at the moment it doesn't even look as interesting as Infinite Undiscovery did. Also, screw you Skills, Valkyrie Profile 2 was fantastic. |
Quote:
I just love Valkyrie Profile and felt that, for me, it was a slightly redeeming factor for the subsequent nine years of underwhelming games. Wasn't nitpicking though, Skills. |
Quote:
Not that I care, until some actual information is released, and give Tri-Ace's fairly 'meh' output of late, then I really have no interest in this at all. |

You know there is a End of Eternity novel... but Isaac something and it's about people going into the past to change the future... haven't finished it but it seems VERY interesting!
I'm a complete sucker for time travel story >....< I HOPE this involves time travel... the machine in the trailer *seems to be focused on* may potentially be one... but I'm babbling I guess - dunno if anyone heard anything about the story plz let us know >....< The only I know about this game's story is that the guys are "friends" - well one person + mercenary. The female is a test subject that was about to be terminated (on her 20th birthday... she is 19) but she escaped just before that happened (sounds like The Island).... but I read this on another forum so nothing official - EDITING Post: See ending for source Ultimately I actually am REALLY looking forward to this - It was said earlier this story would be appealed to older audiences (and I'm becoming an old woman :eye:) - I love more mature video games stories - I LOVE the name End of Eternity... unlike Infinite Undiscovery... awful name (just my opinion though) - The graphic "style" and setting - I LOVE! The long stairs are beautiful and the town (where the girl jumps from) is gorgeous! - Finally the guy in the trailer (older dude) is soooo manly and hot.... keep punching that person's head into the wall >...........< *ponders how many times she rewind the trailer just for that part :eagletear:* http://kotaku.com/5202959/this-is-th...rm-tri+ace-rpg <--- doesn't tell u much though... but there are magazine scans http://www.ps3center.net/news/2712/n...e-screenshots/ <--- three ingame graphic shots and a few minor extra details about gameplay etc http://www.famitsu.com/game/coming/1223411_1407.html <--- Famitsu article... if you can read Japanese From Gamespot Quote:

Only redeeming factor I can think of from the second one was the battle system. Otherwise it's eh, it's passable at most. |
I'm not sure about this one. It seems that two of the characters use guns to battle and I'm really not a big fan of guns in JRPG games. I hope the storyline is interesting, kinda reminds me of that Korean animated movie Sky Blue about the whole pollution surrounding the earth thing.
|
You're the second one to mention in this thread an aversion to guns in JRPGs.
Can someone explain this to me? Seriously. Aren't you folks the same assholes who complain about generic main characters and their sword usage? It's a Tri-Ace game, it's not like it's not gonna have the same trappings EVERY OTHER JRPG EVER has had, why the fuck would you be annoyed with the one tiny thing that might set a character apart? It's not like he's not gonna be a little emo shit and go through the same motions every other one has, so let him have SOMETHING instead of being soley defined by just how stupid his shirt is. |
God forbid JRPGs limiting themselves to swords, staves and iron armor.
Fuck, that's why it has become stale lately. Bring on some futuristic weapons (like PSU) to this shit. |
Resonance of Fate (Tri-Ace/Sega)
Tri-Ace seems to releasing games like nothing nowadays. Spring 2010 release. 360 and PS3. Doubt they will release it with FF13 on the horizon.
Resonance of Fate Announced - First Screens Inside - Xbox Could be garbage or great, who knows, too early to tell obviously. |
GameSpot has this pegged as the same game that End of Eternity is, save for Sega deciding to change its name for the US/EU launch.
What would make them want to change the name? End of Eternity sounds cooler, personally. |
Both sound like bad fanfiction. May as well call it Fate of Eternity and be done with it.
|
there's already a thread about this, they just change the name for the NA and Euro release
http://www.gamingforce.org/forums/rp...d-already.html Maybe because I'm not native English but I really like End of Eternity for the name lol |
End of Eternity was a pretty rad Asimov book, actually.
|
oh btw for anyone interested, new NA/Euro trailer:
YouTube - Resonance of Fate - HD Euro announcement trailer almost the same but with new CG scene and new music. I still wonder how's the gameplay will be, but for now the story could be interesting, at least I really like the setting of the game. |
First Gameplay Footage:
Resonance Of Fate Video Game, Japanese Debut Gameplay Trailer | Game Trailers & Videos | GameTrailers.com Ok it's not much and still not sure if it's turn base or not, but for once the CG trailer were true to the gameplay of the game lol |
New gameplay video:
Resonance Of Fate Video Game, Japanese Tri Attack Battle Trailer | Game Trailers & Videos | GameTrailers.com so it's definitely an rpg, or action/rpg. I'm really more interested in the title now that we got a better look at the gameplay, which seem pretty cool to me :) |
End of Eternity, a John Woo RPG™
Actually the gameplay looks pretty interesting, reminds me of Parasite Eve coupled with Grandia, while the graphics have a kind of 'Shadow of the Colossus' influence. |
Hey alright, it looks like they actually managed a constant framerate in that trailer.
If the combat is less clunky than Infinite Undiscovery I may start to become interested. Or if it's more than just strafing and firing, which seemed to make up a bulk of that video. edit: oh look this thread has become a lot prettier |
YouTube - EoE ????? ??????????
Definitely the VP2 team at work here. And that is such good news. Also the first song is very nice! |
^Thanks for the post^
This game looks beautiful so far. Interesting side note on the music, Motoi Sakuraba is going to be working with Tanaka Kouhei, who is responsible for the soundtrack of Legend of Legaia. This is going to be AWESOME! |
VP2 team?
Aww. But the video is pleasing enough. Here's to hoping it ain't all just for show. Then again, I may be expecting too much. |
End of Eternity scans seem to indicate it should take place at a coffee shop.
"End of Eternity, Thursdays right after Seinfeld." |
|
Ok, so.
Demos on both platforms in JAPPO REGIONS. Silver access on circlebox, so no need to worry about that gold locked bullshit. Tried it on both. Frames are stable on both. Would be hard pressed to tell the difference. Combat system makes abso-fucking-lutely no sense at all. I've figured out how blue and red damage works, and about the bar and your slow mo moves, but the trigger for restoring the bar is beyond me. It seems to pop at the defeat of an enemy but it's also showed up elsewhere for some sort of juggles, so I'm not certain? |
Just a guess, but would the instructions for how the combat system works be in Japanese, a language you don't speak?
|
I should elaborate.
http://i45.tinypic.com/70vr7m.jpg There is also a 300 MB tutorial video on both services. The demo is 680. I have read what people translated and even they don't fully get it. It feels needlessly complex for the sake of being needlessly complex. I wasn't expecting to get the same sort of battle system gimmicky feeling I got with SO4 with this, to be honest. Scratch Damage, at least as presented here, makes little sense from a design standpoint, the same end could be accomplished with a little more variety in the moves instead of forcing me to end all the infinite actions with a specific character/gun in order to deal the red damage and kill them for good. Unless there's an element to it not explored here, I'm having a bit of difficulty understanding the why. |
I gave the PS3 demo a try last night without reading up on any translation stuff, and failed miserably. Like Skills said, the battle system feels needlessly complex and awkward at times. If I could actually read how to play then it has definite potential, but it's difficult to say from this.
Is there some sort of timer in battles? At one point during the second fight a warning sign flashed and suddenly all the enemies were getting something like +400 to damaging me. |
Danger Mode or whatever it's called occurs when you run out of infinite actions. As long as you keep that bar at least partially full, you won't end up in it, but it seems that after you do, it's increasingly difficult to get out of it.
|
I was just taking a guess on the commands and wooped ass.
I just know square is for the running direction, then I jump and attack in the air but I stopped jumping so much after I saw how awkward it looked. They kept reseting in the air evey time they got a chance to attack. Did some sort of special move when I got them in the air, don't know how. I also switched out for grenades on the girl since they were the strongest attack. Then sometimes I hit triangle and they go running all around the screen . Formation plays a big part but hell if I know how to use it. |

You have to admit, it's pretty bizarre. I realize they know it's cheesy, and they do it on purpose, but more often than not their recent attempts at corniness backfire from humourous to just flat out annoying and terrible. =\

It's like a circle of bullshit, I suppose.
Do I hate the characters because of dumb shit like this, or do I hate dumb shit like this because it's done by a character I hate? |
I think it's mostly in how often the dumb shit occurs. Capell got to be annoying as hell pretty quickly, but when he finally stopped acting like an idiot towards the end I started to like him. Too little too late, but it would help the characters tremendously if they'd cut it out with this crap.
|
My wife's been capping videos and takin' questions. She's loving the game so far. I'll get to it when I've kicked these PSP games out of my queue (Valkyria 2 is talking up a lot of my time...)
|
Janelle just wrote up a very detailed description of the Battle System:
Everything You'll Ever Need to Know About Resonance of Fate Part 1: Battle System. It's very detailed and goes over all the stuff other previews have left out...which is lot. |
That battle system sounds complicated as fuck and yet intrigues me nonetheless.
Where is my 360 demo, Tri-Ace? :( |
On the moonspeak marketplace.
|
wtf?
im thinking for the title maybe they put little pieces of paper in a hat. after that , they get blown back and draw outta the hat to come up with a title.just like infinite undiscovery
|
Finally got my hands on this today, and I am absolutely loving it thus far.
It's pretty complicated, and I think it's probably the first RPG I have played that I don't feel I could have just dove in and started playing without going through the battle tutorials. I haven't gotten too far in, but as of two and a half hours: - English Voice Acting is Great (And Tolerable at the worst) - Battle system is fun, but complicated. Definitely do the tutorials in the Arena. - Touched only a bit of Weapon customization and "Dressing Up" characters. - Guild / Bulletin Board System very similar to FFXII - Story, not too much so far, and what there was hasn't really been explained at all. Doesn't seem bad though. - Graphics are nice when they aren't blurry, but its short comings are similar to Valkyrie Profile 2's. Still passable in my book though. - Music-- I've really been tired of Motoi Sakuraba lately, but this game's music is, in my opinion, far far better than any of his recent contributions. I don't know if there were other composers involved, but this OST is thus far probably my favorite this generation. (And definitely much better than SO3, VP2, SO4, and Infinite Undiscovery) But the most important thing is that it's fun. I've really enjoyed it so far, and while I know its going to be over shadowed by FFXIII, I hope enough people check it out. |

This game has turned out to be the sort of sleeper hit cousin to Final Fantasy XIII. While its release got incredibly overshadowed, the fact of the matter is it's as good as FFXIII in completely different ways, and if you're of the mind that XIII sucked, it's way better.
|
I'm still trucking along in Chapter 14. Enjoying it just as much as I did initially. Enemies are getting bigger and harder to jump around though...
I am in love with the music in battles. There's just something about having "two sides" to the track that gets me going hahah (Lucia and Estia are <3) |
So I started playing this this week and I'm loving it so far. The story is indeed nonsense and hilariously badly explained but the battle system is cool which is what matters really.
One quick question, do skills only work if you hit the exact right number of charges or is the number a minimum? |
No. They have X percent chance of happening if you charge to that level though. They get replaced by a higher percent chance of happening as you level up another 12 levels though.
They are on the right side of the screen during charge and the ones that don't disappear after firing are active. |
Oh ok, I was hoping it was something like that, rather than needing you to hit the button at the right time. How long do you have to wait to get another machine gun? I'm on chapter 5 and I picked up the extra pistol from the shop in the first town but another machine gun would be way more useful I think.

I assumed there'd be a load more guns than that. Cheers for that though mate.
I was finding it hard making money till I realised I could turn all the scrap iron and glass shards into scopes and sell them for more than the construction fee. Given I had over a hundred of each item I'm not lacking in cash any more. |
You could also buy those parts from the travelling merchant (At your point of the game, she'd prolly be hanging around in Forsaken and Waterless Bridge; once you have access to the lower sectors, she also camps in some tower... sorry i forgot the name).
But yes, you can buy the parts from her, and then make the scopes, and sell em. A pretty penny is quickly made! |
