Food You Hate?

I'd say Lobster, and GROSSHOPPER!

Lobster is.. soo well gross! Even the appearence is GGRROOOsSSSS

Grosshopper: Hmm, yes lets eat an insect that I used to catch when I was 6 or so. Oh yes, can't wait until I get it roasted, with bq sauce.. NOT, soo crunchy, and yuck you can feel their legs in your moth, and with a little bit of iminigation, you can imagine that it will hop >_<

Cocorochi.. I personally never tried it, but some people that went to China for vacation, they say they are awsome. ewwwwww... but then maybe it isn't from China...

Lady Miyomi Mar 3, 2006 11:09 PM

Brussel sprouts and beets....I've never been big on eating stuff that smells just like grass and tastes like crap. *barfs*

Also, LIVER! *retches* Liver has got to be the MOST DISGUSTING thing on this planet! Ewwwww! My mother tried to fool me as a little kid one day by frying it up as chicken. She told me it was fried chicken. I personally thought it was a little "skinny" to be chicken, so I sniffed it...then I broke it in half. That awful liver smell rose out of there and I went screaming through the house to all that would listen, "AAAAAAHHHHH!!! She's trying to pass off liver as CHICKEN!!!! Run for your lives!!!" Needless to say, my war cry worked because nobody ate it after that and all fried products were inspected closely from then on....

Acro-nym Mar 3, 2006 11:34 PM

What does the title of this thread even mean?! I can kind of infer from the initial post, but do you want most disgusting or just plain worst? In my case, the items are the same. Flavorless oatmeal.

Rydia Mar 3, 2006 11:36 PM

Edited the thread title for you. =)

I'm unable to eat squid regardless of the preparation. I suppose it's mainly because of the rubbery feeling while chewing. I’ve only really had it three or four times, but that was enough for me.

JackTheRipper Mar 3, 2006 11:39 PM

I can't stand bananas. It's not even the taste of them, but the texture. That mushy feeling in my mouth is just terrible. I also really despise tuna fish. That stuff is so gross. It smells like urine.

Snowknight Mar 3, 2006 11:42 PM

I don't really like most fish mainly because of the way it smells. In actuality, it probably tastes great, but I have a hard time getting over the smell. For that matter, I don't like lobster either; I keep thinking about how lobster have exoskeletons.
Also, I can't stand peanut butter if that counts as a food. I can't stand the smell, the taste, or anything else about it.

Son of Wiseness Mar 3, 2006 11:44 PM

Brussel sprouts, Asparagus, Onions, Lobster, Squid, and Snail.

Josiah Mar 3, 2006 11:47 PM

I just can't stand peaches myself. The smell of them for some reason reminds me of the smell of vomit. x_x And there was this one time I had to eat lime-flavored Jell-O with seven different vegetables in it, some of which to this day I have not identified. A friend with me at the time who also ate it made the comment to me later that it tasted like cleaning chemicals.

And it's for that reason that some people I know don't drink Root Beer.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. Every time I try to eat one when someone buys me one, I gag on it. The mush is enough for me. Bananas are gross! I don't mind having it mixed in with something else, say strawberries, but by itself it's nasty!

bahamuty Mar 4, 2006 12:06 AM

The main ones for me are Brussel sprouts, liver, hard squash, and cantaloupe melon. It's really strange because I used to like cantaloupes. But now I can't stand the smell or taste of them.

kat Mar 4, 2006 03:21 AM

Surprised to see how many people hate lobsters. Did you know they're in the same class as cockroaches? Yep, lobsters are bugs, disgusting but they taste good.

I hate eggs and mayonaise. So egg salad gives me heart attacks, pretty much.

Quoted for truth.

I truly hate liver. My mom couldn't understand that either. I tried to tell her over and over that I truly HATE the taste, but since she loves it a lot she would never listen. Another thing she loves and I hate is coconut milk. She sometimes used to make this thai-esque stew with coconut milk in it, and I just couldn't eat it. It was horrible. Mom tried to convince me that it wasn't the coconut milk, that it was something else that made me not want to eat it, but I knew it was that damned milk. She even went so far as to put it in another dish just to prove to me that it wasn't the coconut milk. Of course, I couldn't eat that dish either. Yuck!

wishfire Mar 4, 2006 05:50 AM

Liver and catfish make me run away screaming in terror. Mostly the former.. the way it smells, the way it tastes, everything. I can't stand it.
As for the catfish.. I think it's really just the texture and smell of it, because I can stomach other seafood just fine.

doodle Mar 4, 2006 11:19 AM

I detest liver and fried okra. Liver is obvious, organ meats are gross, but okra I hate because it is a slimy little ball of seeds, and that makes me want to gag when I bite down on it.

There's the demons right there.

halfbloodprince Mar 4, 2006 12:05 PM

I hate lecctuce and everything is green! [exept brocoli... yeh weird]

Also I hate spice food, Chili, red pepper.... I hate u!!! :cussing:

Ryuu Mar 4, 2006 01:54 PM

I hate peas. A lot.

I can't stand eating them - I always feel like I have to puke.

munchkin13 Mar 4, 2006 02:03 PM

Food I hate o Lord where o where do I begin lol
~Sprouts
~Prawns
~Lobster
~Crab
~Muscles
~Salmon
~Sea food in general except tuna.
~Sweed
~Pork Chops
~Tomatoes
~Califlower
The list goes on and on. I'm not a picky eater I just hate the taste and smell of the stuff.

Angel Mar 4, 2006 02:07 PM

I hate grapefruit, organ meat and especially escargots... I don't even dare to touch those last ones... they're all slimy and yuk!

Living Legend Mar 4, 2006 02:37 PM

I cannot stand speghetti. I am italian and all but I think italian food is just horrible. I don't know why, but I just can't eat any of it without getting a really sick feeling within me.

Bacon- I cannot eat that, Bacon is the most horrible thing there it for me to eat. The only time bacon is ever good is in the "Chicken Bacon Ranch" at Subway.

Hotdogs- I don't mind sausage, but hotdogs have the worst plain taste to me. Even after adding katchup, mayo, mustard and whatnot. The taste of the hotdog is still completely horrible.

Von Mar 4, 2006 02:43 PM

Snails hands down.

I'm up for anything unusual, but man, I went to a place that served Escargot and I just could not stick that in my mouth.
I step on those things outside. They leave slime trails. They have other stuff.

http://www.japannewbie.com/images/jo...nail/snail.jpg
EAT IT

elwe Mar 4, 2006 04:25 PM

I can't stand plain bananas. I either have to slice them up and dump them into a cup of milk, or put it in some other "dish". I'm not sure why. It's not the texture or the taste that bothers me. :p

Mangos are also pretty gross. My family loves them, but I can't get over the texture.

The absolute worst food, for me, though, would have to be durian. The smell, texture, and taste are all horrible. Whenever my family cracks one open, the smell lingers for days. It's nightmare-inducing.

http://img313.imageshack.us/img313/5...meat2gi.th.jpg
MMM! These are a little nastier-looking than the plump, yellow ones.

TRZD Mar 4, 2006 05:07 PM

I can't stand mushrooms. Most other foods I don't like alone (tomatoes, sweetcorn) I enjoy fine if they're mixed with something else, but I'll never eat mushrooms. If I get a meal with mushrooms in I'll spend ages looking through it to dig them out before I start eating, they're that bad. I just know if I've got a bit of one in my mouth, it's horrible.

alhana Mar 4, 2006 08:03 PM

I love most all kinds of food. I love liver. I love mushrooms.

There is this horrible soup my mum makes though that I don't like. It looks like vomit. (Seriously.)

I can't stand most fast food. Burgers, chips... Ugh.

Disgustingly sweet things are - well - disgusting. Like donuts. Anything fully covered in sugar is quite awful. Cream cakes are pretty disgusting.

I like most fruits and vegetables, but there is one I don't really care about: mangoes.

Oysters have a funny texture and I don't really like eating them, but they don't particularly taste bad...

neus Mar 4, 2006 08:41 PM

Is it weird that I've read through the entire thread and not agreed with a single person? And yes, I have tried all of those.
:itisamystery:
The only thing I can't eat would probably be milk as I'm lactose intollerant (but, really - soy milk >>>>> cow milk), and anything meat related. I like the taste of meat, but my face gets pimpled and oily and gross and I feel like crap after I eat it, so I'm a vegetarian.

(No one has mentioned tofu yet, but PRE-EMPTIVE STRIKE BITCHES!
Tofu > h8rz.)

Jin Mar 4, 2006 10:17 PM

BALUT.

I've tried it and threw up. I've watched other people eat it and threw up. Just thinking about it I want to throw up. Bleh.

SemperFidelis Mar 4, 2006 10:25 PM

I love balut. Sprinkle some vinegar and eat it all at once. DELICIOUS.

Outlaw Mar 4, 2006 10:40 PM

Cauliflower. Tell me all you want that it's just "albino broccoli" but it still won't make me like it.....Other then that...Water Chesnuts....the tate and the texture...blah x_X ....but my mom keeps on trying to get me to eat them when she knows I haven't liked Water Chesnuts OR Cauliflower since I was little.....

Chibi Neko Mar 4, 2006 10:50 PM

Seafood was something I could never grow into, odd seeiming that I worked in the fisheries since I was 5 till it closed.

J-Man Mar 4, 2006 10:51 PM

Tofu.

'Nuff said.

Chibi Neko Mar 4, 2006 11:04 PM

Tofu dosn't have any taste, however if you cook it with something...like stir-fry for exsampe, the tofu absorbes alot of the flavor. Tofu is awsome depending what you cook with it.

Abstractication Mar 4, 2006 11:16 PM

Tomatoes - Ew. On sandwiches, in salads, etc. I have never liked the taste.

Brussel sprouts - My first grade teacher made us try them raw when we were learning about the five senses.

Liverwurst - My grandpa made me try it, I was never fond of it.

Onions - Well, when used lightly I don't mind them, but something overpowering like a sub, it has a lingering smell which reminds me of BO.

scotty Mar 4, 2006 11:22 PM

I hate alot of food, I can be extremly picky. I find the best food is plain, and is not mixed with a whole bunch of vegtables, and exotic crap. I despise tomatos for their taste and texture, and hate all foods containing them except pizza. I am not all that fond of ketchup either, and only put it on hot dogs and hamburgers in small amounts.

Fleshy Fun-Bridge Mar 4, 2006 11:47 PM

I'd be hard pressed to really name any foods that I hate. About seven months ago I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and have suffered four severe flares since.

Each time, my diet was severely restricted for a period of several weeks starting with clear liquid (nothing but broth, water, tea, ginger ale, and jell-o for a total of 600 calories per day) for a few days followed by low residual (highly processed foods only with little or no fiber content--no whole grains, no nuts or seeds, no fresh fruits, no fresh vegetables, no fibrous meats) for a few weeks.

After the first few days of the clear liquid diet, I found myself craving foods that I wouldn't normally think about. All kinds of vegetables, fruits, meats, grains, nuts; they all were constantly crossing my mind. The thought of brussel spouts, asparagus, beets, liver, cauliflower, etc made me drool during those times.

Consequently, the only foods I avoid are the ones I possess an allergy to: Most nuts (except for almonds), bananas, kiwi, and most melons. Everything else is a flavor experience to be savored.

Synthesis Mar 5, 2006 02:31 AM

Onions are definitely something I don't like. I hate even smelling them.

XerxesTheMighty Mar 5, 2006 02:35 AM

I won't eat any seafood. No shirmp, squid, shark, fish, whales, etc... I just wont do it. I have the mental block that just wont let me do it. Yes I have tried to eat some of that stuff mentioned above but I have an automatic gag reflex to it all. Not to mention the smell. BAH.

magewarrior Mar 5, 2006 06:55 AM

Oh geez, dont ever ask me to eat seafood, cause I wont, its just *gag* repulsive.

ComCrimson Mar 5, 2006 07:18 AM

Olives: They're just nasty in my opinion. They taste really damn funny and i don't understand how the hell my parents can eat them all the time. However, i don't mind them in something such as pasta bake or olive bread.

Tomatoes: This is another weird one for me. The taste of tomatoes just makes me feel sick. My Mum once fed me a cherry tomatoe when i was younger...and i spat it straight out because it tasted so rank. However, i love tomatoe ketchup, pizza and anything else my Mum makes with tomoatoe in it. As long as it's not whole tomatoes i don't care

Mushrooms: These are just foul. It's not so much the taste that i can't stand but the texture. I can't stand eating something that just turns to mush in my mouth. I'm the same with mushy peas. >_<

Same here. The severe pain is enough to completely stop me from drinking milk or eat ice cream. I don't fool with red meat at all and I'm trying to stop from eating chicken. I just don't like meat anymore.

Another thing I can't stand is JELLO! OMG, that stuff almost had me kill myself one day! Every time I put that stuff in my mouth, I gag horribly.

One day (back when I used to have my car), I stopped at 7-Eleven and got one of those Lunchables. I started eating while I was driving. I'm on the highway doing about 70mph and I pulled out the dessert--damn JELLO!!!! I thought to myself that I could tolerate it. I stuck the first spoonful in my mouth, gagged horribly, and almost spun out of control and flipped the car over! That's it! It's done forever! I CANNOT EAT THAT CRAP!!!

Shinimegami Mar 6, 2006 08:50 AM

Hate mussles... or actually all shellfish for that fact. They are so rubbery and disgusting and slimy is its raw. And people slurp when they eat it..(God..that is so gross)
Looking at them makes me want to puke... ^^;

Relic Mar 6, 2006 09:37 AM

Wow, a lot of people here seem to hate seafood. I'd hate to expose some of you to crayfish, which look like big red bugs and have to be smashed open to eat. They actually taste pretty good boiled and seasoned properly, though I'm sure that you have to be from the South to cook them well.

I'm not a particularly picky eater (I've even learned to tolerate the smell of canned tuna), but I can't stand pork. Bacon is nasty and greasy. Ground pork smells horrible when it's cooking and tastes lousy. I can eat ham, but sliced turkey is much better on subs, so that's a moot point.

I won't drink regular milk, but that's because I'm lactose intolerant, and being strung up in my crappy dorm room for a day puking isn't my idea of fun. Lactose-free or soy milk is fine.

Alice Mar 6, 2006 09:48 AM

I love food sooooooo much, and I'm not very picky, but if I hate something I hate it and that's that. Here's my list:

- mayonnaise
- ketchup
- organ meats (liver, chicken gizzards, etc.)
- sashimi
- bananas
- milk (even chocolate)

I will eat pretty much anything else, but you couldn't pay me to eat anything of the foods on my "hate list" ever again.

Bobbet Mar 6, 2006 04:38 PM

-Celery. Even if there's a little bit of celery juice mixed in with other foods, I can still taste it and my throat constricts and I start to retch.

-Frogs. I've tasted it with a couple of different seasonings several different times. It sure don't taste like chicken to me.

xSummonerYUnax Mar 6, 2006 05:57 PM

BEETS. Even looking at it makes me feel nauseous.

majario Mar 6, 2006 06:06 PM

I can't stand those Quaker rice cakes. It's like eating the styrofoam that they use to cushion a package. There is also no taste to these things. It doesn't help that every time you bite into it pieces of it go flying everywhere.

Jinn Mar 6, 2006 06:09 PM

I've never really cared for fish too much. I usually find myself picking the bones out of my mouth most of the time rather than actually eating it. Some of it I do like, but most of it has, well, that fishy taste to it.

I could also never really stand squash. Neither the texture or tast are very appealing to me.

Arkhangelsk Mar 6, 2006 06:41 PM

Lordy, I hate squash. Especially Yellow Squash -- it makes me gag whenever it enters my personal space. Seriously, it's so nauseating. I think it's the pulpy texture that turns me off from most squashes.

Also I ABHOR onions. Detest them with all my heart.

Fire On Ice Mar 6, 2006 06:48 PM

Jellied consomme. It's essentially like beef jello only it tastes far worse then it sounds. I have never wanted to vomit more then when I tried this repulsive food.

I ate a random brand of rice cake that had the texture of a piece of cardboard. -_-

*AkirA* Mar 6, 2006 09:46 PM

The very thought of asparagus disgust me. Theres nothing appealing about it.

It fucks up casseroles like no other vegetable can. Its got a weird texture and its so flavorless its disgusting.

SemperFidelis Mar 6, 2006 10:21 PM

Red wine vinegar is pretty bad. I thought it would remotely taste like wine when I bought it. WRONG. It tastes and smells like fermented vomit. Now I mix it in with my grape juice just to get rid of it.

Lee-chan Mar 6, 2006 10:36 PM

I hate tomatoes. Fresh one, that is. I find them digusting. Which is funny, since I'm typically savvy for tomato-based products (including ketchup, salsas, and sauces).

Being a native Georgian, I also have to point out that I hate both peaches and peanuts.

I've never tasted it (the smell's more than enough), but I'm suprised no one's mentioned nattou. It's some fucking nasty shtuff.

Dork Mar 7, 2006 03:44 PM

tofu. that stuff is gross, no matter how it's cooked.

also, tomatoes, and several other veggies that I can't think of right now. I am a meat lover. :D

I also dislike other weird random stuff that my mom cooks.
For example: this one really spikey fruit thing.
it stinks, like, the smell is really HORRID.
ugh.

oh yeah.
fish that isn't fried.
and the one time my mom dumped sugar all over fried fish. That was bad too.

You know, there's a much more efficient way to get rid of the stuff if you don't like it: THROW IT AWAY.

Just a suggestion. That said, you're not supposed to drink red wine vinegar. You cook with it, or put it in salad dressings.

I poked it and it made a sad sound Mar 7, 2006 04:02 PM

Ahaha, he drinks red wine vinegar because its a wine? CLASSIC.

I can not, for the life of me, stand artichokes. I've never really been a person who hates vegetables - I rather like them. But there is something REPULSIVE about artichokes.

Also, olives. I can not STAND any kind of olive at all, sadly.

This weekend I was tricked into eating a hot pepper. I officially hate those now, too. ^_^

I really hate squash, I dislike salmon a lot, and eggplant makes me nauseous.

I assume that you mean durian. The only other spikey fruit I can think of is jackfruit, but that doesn't really stink. It's an acquired taste, I heard. I'm fine with eating it, but I'm really picky with it. I have to handpick mine fresh from the farm when travelling in Asia.

Could you explain (for the rest of us idiots - unless I am alone in this, here) what the bloody fuck natto is?

I mean, it looks like peanuts mixed with semen. What is actually made of?

Fermented soybeans, I think. But then again, I've never eaten that before.

nazpyro Mar 7, 2006 04:49 PM

I'm don't eat most vegetables...

But specifically, some stuff I detest include most of the mentioned. Nay to tofu. Balut... yuk. I don't like the textures of calamari and squid, but I love most seafoods.

galador Mar 7, 2006 05:12 PM

Guacamole....

There's nothing that makes me writhe with disgust more than eating guacamole.

andkeener Mar 7, 2006 05:30 PM

The list of foods I don't eat (either for taste or texture reasons) it way to long to even think about, so ill just try and hit on the foods that I CAN'T STAND.

Mayonnaise. I name it first because I HATE it the most. Just the sight\smell of it is enough to make me gag. (I also don't eat condiments/dressings)
All vegetables with the exception of potatoes and raw carrots. Green things are gross, that's all there is to it.
Seafood/Steak. I've been a vegetarian for about 6 months now, but all the required I do is give up chicken (and the occasional piece of bacon). Both of which I only ate every few months. Hate to burst anyones bubble, but most meat just doesn't taste good.
Tomatoes. I love the taste of them, but the gross semi-soft texture of them irks me. Tomatoe sauce/paste is wonderful though.

I guess the fact that I like routine keeps me from going crazy when I eat the same food day in and day out, over and over again.

Relic Mar 7, 2006 08:24 PM

Natto is fermented soybeans, and it has an...interesting taste, smell, and texture. I really don't know where the gooey stuff in it comes from. I think that miso is made from the same process, but that's actually tasty. ^^

And I can't believe that I forgot about mayonnaise. That stuff is gross, seriously.

Radical Mar 7, 2006 08:52 PM

I really don't like eggplant. There are other foods that I dislike, but eggplant is the only thing that I really do not enjoy eating.

oh, sick Mar 7, 2006 09:55 PM

Hate list:

Tomatoes - literally, LITERALLY tastes like puke
asparagus- no joke, tastes like rubber
olives- If I could imagine what a spider tasted like, this is it
any seafood or fish- sick
concrete- its so hard

Eleo Mar 7, 2006 09:59 PM

I hate goopy stuff. Pudding, yogurt, melted ice cream, applesauce, porridge, oatmeal, creamed wheat, grits, stew that exceptionally thick, runny eggs, the list goes on and on. I don't like foods that come in pools of liquids like baked beans, etc, unless I can put that on top of rice for the rice to soak up the goop. I like my spaghetti with limited sauce, just enough sauce to get on all of the noodles; no residual sauce to be left when I'm finished. I never really put condiments on my sandwiches or hamburgers, although if they are made that way, it's fine. Except for mayo. I dislike mayo.

Just don't like thick, goopy stuff sitting on my stomach, it makes me want to barf.

Dork Mar 7, 2006 11:24 PM

Yup, that would be it.
Is that what it's called?
My parents call it uhm.. doodoo
or something o_O I don't really remember. =/

Can't believe I forgot condiments.
I don't like those either. Ketchup makes me want to barf everytime I come near it, I don't know why.

andkeener Mar 8, 2006 12:05 PM

I'm so happy there are others that hate condiments just as much as I do. I'm the only person that I know that dislikes them and everyone acts like i'm some kind of freak for eatting all my food dry and condimentless. I say they are the weirdos that drown the flavors of whatever they may be eatting with the same old gross sauces!

valiant Mar 8, 2006 05:24 PM

Oh man I love condiments! They just add a subtly sometimes to a food...

I detest celery, eggplants, and avocado X_X

shadowlink56 Mar 8, 2006 05:53 PM

Tomatoes. Ugh.
Weird too, because I love marinara sauces, I use ketchup, and pretty much every other tomato product. I just can't take 'em plain.
I can't even be around green peppers, unless they are seriously masked by other spices in mexican food.

EmpyreanHorizon Mar 12, 2006 10:44 AM

It's not that I hate bitter melons, but I just can't stomach it. Initial bite is fine. Once the stuff gets to the back of your mouth, the bitterness kicks in and suddenly I need to puke.

I'm the kind of person who'll taste something weird just for kicks--so to me I like foods, like liver or raw goat meat, that taste funky but bitter melon is definitely something i'll be avoiding for a long time.

I HATE celery, I just cannot stand its taste. I tried it once when I was really young, and I started screaming and spitting everywhere. Then when I got older, I tried (a few times actually) to eat it again, but I just can't swallow it. Just biting into it makes me want to gag. Celery is evil.

I also hate olives...I've never tried eating one whole, and I don't think I ever could, they look so nasty to me. Pickles are quite bad too, the only time I can eat it is if it's a little slice in a burger or something.

Peas and Liver. And I probably only dislike peas because they were on a plate with liver. Peas taste like puke. Liver tastes like more puke.

I can't stand cheese...most of the time! It's not bad or anything - I mean everyone else eats it, but there's something about it that I can't stand its taste. I say most of the time because I do eat pizza, but I hate it when the cheese is burnt or its one of those stuffed crust pizzas.

I also can't stand Dinuguan - it's this Filipino dish composed of pig blood and meat. It sounded appetizing but has this weird texture to it when you eat it - it's not bad, but...no.

Can't believe I forgot condiments.
I don't like those either. Ketchup makes me want to barf everytime I come near it, I don't know why.

Gosh, I can't believe you don't like durian! I love them! I'll do anything to get them when they're in season :D

I hate celery or any other veggie that smells like it (there's some herb my grandma fries with eggs that smells a lot like it which grosses me out) and I wouldn't touch any food tainted by celery. I don't like raw tomatoes either, not only is the taste repulsive, but the seeds are always mixed with this gooey stuff. Ketchup and tomato puree is great though. I don't like liver, blood puddings. Same for most seafood (except fish and crabs).

I will second the hatred of olives. They taste rotten, even at the best of times. One of my friends loves green olives as if they were candy, and buys the massive jars of "massive" green olives. Some are as big as a golf ball....disgusting.

Also V8, for pretty much the same reason, unless there is a liberal amount of some kind of additive to make it tast like anything other than V8, or olives.
