Anything for you guys this year?

The Plane Is A Tiger Apr 4, 2009 12:19 AM

I think I might pick up Namco Museum Virtual Arcade for $15. I own Pac-Man CE and Mr. Driller Online already, but that's still quite a few achievement point games. Plus it apparently has Bosconian, and I freaking love Bosconian on the Namco TV Games plug & play thingy I have.

Infernal Monkey Apr 4, 2009 12:23 AM

Wow, most of those games are like $5 less than their RRP. The economic crisis has hit Gamestop hard!

Paco Apr 4, 2009 01:17 AM

WOW. Guitar Hero Aerosmith!

I'm ALL OVER THIS!

(No I'm not. About the only game I see on the 360 worth getting for me is Tomb Raider Anniversary. And that's only because I don't already own it.)

Scent of a Grundle Apr 4, 2009 01:30 AM

N ot much interesting, except perhaps sonic rush adventure. I liked rush, and in need another sonic game to keep me occupied.

Detection Apr 4, 2009 01:33 AM

Already own everything I'd consider getting from that list. No deals on any accessories?

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Apr 4, 2009 02:15 AM

Valkyria's a good deal at any price, but I am unsure how much lower this price is than their normal, and if it's already been discounted.

Regardless, it's pretty much the only non-ass bit on there.

nuttyturnip Apr 4, 2009 08:48 AM

Sonic Unleashed is the only thing that is even slightly tempting, but $30 is still too high; I'd bite at $20. I'll put in a plug for Word Jong, though. If you like word puzzle games (Scrabble, Bookworm, etc.), it's an awesome game, and it has online multiplayer as well.

Omnislash124 Apr 4, 2009 10:31 AM

Hmm...it seems that the PSP Final Fantasy games have finally fallen to my price point. Time to pick them up. Even if I didn't enjoy Final Fantasy II THAT much.

How many players online? I might be tempted to get it if we can get some OLDK going on for it.

RacinReaver Apr 4, 2009 03:36 PM

Best deal is totally the Diablo II Battle Chest. Gonna go stock up on 10 of these so when the prices skyrocket back up after this stellar deal I can sell them all on ebay for $$$$.

Gakineko Apr 4, 2009 03:41 PM

i fancy that i may be willing to invest $15 in Sonic Rush Adventure.

after Sonic Advance 2, i realized that i didn't particularly mind the changes that had befallen the series. not yet having the chance to play Sonic Rush (all of the boxed copies had been sold during the last Game Days sale... little did i know that they would ALL be gone by now) i've been eager to see how Sonic has changed since the GBA days... (meaning i've also got my eye on Sonic Rivals 2)

These are relevant to my budget interests... I haven't seen Dracula X Chronicles around here for ages though. Really, it's likely that I'll only find Final Fantasy Tactics in stores around here from that list... I think I shall scout the stores today in preparation...

Just 2 at a time. Tritoch and I both have it, but it's pretty hard to find a random match. I haven't tried in awhile though, and there's always a chance this sale will bump up the players. Single player is fun enough on its own to warrant the purchase.

Tails Apr 4, 2009 07:43 PM

I've been holding off on Metal Slug 7 since I know it'll hit the XBLA whenever they get around to it but $15 is damn good.

That and it looks like I might finally pick up FFT: War of the Lions. I could use another nine thousand hour game to play.

xrgtr Apr 4, 2009 09:57 PM

I might consider getting Juiced 2 and GH:Aerosmith on the PS3 considering the price, but to me, the other games aren't even close to tempting me.

The Plane Is A Tiger Apr 4, 2009 10:32 PM

I happened to be at the mall anyway today, and it was nice to see that Gamestop gutted all their copies of Namco Museum specifically for this sale. All the copies in the bin felt perfectly new and even had bits of the seals and plastic wrap still clinging to the sides. It's not like I was expecting to get a new copy, but at least last year they only stuck the shelf copies in the bins.

xrgtr Apr 4, 2009 10:37 PM

Aren't all games (non-used) sealed anyway? Just wondering...

Helloween Apr 4, 2009 10:59 PM

Gamestop and EB are notorious for gutting games. Taking new copies and opening them pre-purchasing. To be honest, i don't even know why they do this.

I've also heard that employees take new games home and play them before selling them to customers, but that could just be a rumor.

That aside, i'm most interested int he Diablo and Warcraft battle chests. If i had access to a Gamestop i'd head out tomorrow, but, no such luck.

That's not a rumor; it used to be company policy that they could do that. Now they supposedly don't, but who knows. As for the gutting, it's supposedly some sort of archaic anti-theft system.

You'll probably have good luck looking for the Diablo and Warcraft battle chests. I usually see several of those in Gamestops.

Getting Medieval 2 golden pack. Should be neat! Thanks a ton.

nanstey Apr 5, 2009 01:07 AM

I wonder if I should get a little something when I go to pick up my DSi...

Scent of a Grundle Apr 5, 2009 01:31 AM

I'm pretty sure the deal won't last until next summer. Maybe next year's blowout.

Frozen Memories Apr 5, 2009 11:10 AM

FFTA2 seems like an alright deal, seeing as I still see it new for around $30 here. I MIGHT pick it up, but everything else... meh, just doesn't seem worth it. That, or I'll probably never find it around here (like Dracula X Chronicles)...

You PS3 owners are cheating yourselves if you never pick this game up.

mortis Apr 5, 2009 01:32 PM

FFTA2 was actually at the same price at Circuit City a few days after Christmas. Of course, CC is now gone so Gamestop now pretty much can do what they want. Kinda like how I went to Staples and their deals weren't that great. The deals didn't have to be anymore.

Anyway, I waited for quite a while and was able to finally snag FFT:WotL and also CastleVania. Nothing else really interested me that much.

Lukage Apr 5, 2009 05:43 PM

Regarding the guts, we do it for this sale because at a given time, a bunch of stores have several people getting the same game. Its so that they can get themselves one, but the majority of those we still have sealed. Official policy on rentals doesn't allow new titles. I'd do it on DS games if I could, but not on a disc. We're to wait for used titles and only when we have a bunch of 'em in.

Actually, get it. It still works with our free guitar deal, and you can trade in the game for 5 bucks, so essentially the guitar is only $5.

Valkyria is worth 60, so half price, hell yeah!

Also PSP on the..... PSP. New game and from what I've played, its great.

speculative Apr 5, 2009 10:10 PM

I was able to snag Castlevania and Silent Hill for PSP. I would have picked up FFT for PSP also but they didn't have it. For $9.99 they're good deals to me. (On a side note, I cannot believe Daxter is $4.99 now.) Also, I saw that Hidden & Dangerous was marked down to 99 cents not $4.99 as I thought it would be. I almost bought it just for kicks, but then I thought, if it's that low, maybe it will eat my HD or something if I bothered to install it.

I was under the impression that the price was for the game only.

elwe Apr 5, 2009 10:50 PM

Nothing much here, but I might pick up FFTA2 for DS tomorrow, if there's still any left. I heard it was pretty sweet, and seeing as how it's usually around 30 bucks unless I catch a sale, I might as well go for it. But I'm kinda trying to save for something else. Dilemma dilemma. I do have the money for this, but I'm not getting a job again until I'm on summer vacation, so 20 bucks won't be too easy to come by until then.

Dragon Quest: Swords is the only thing I might consider getting. Sad how many of those look like they're just the price they've been selling them for. Wasn't that Mario and Sonic's price for the sale last year?

Over here they just put empty boxes on the shelves and keep the game disc and manuals all behind the counter. Makes shoplifting pretty fucking pointless.

Also, with the more popular games they often have a store copy which they'll sell second hand a week or so later. I've picked up quite a few games second hand a week after release this way (That and easy achievement point whores who buy games, run through the easy achievements then sell them back, a practice I will never understand, why not just rent them if you're sad enough to give that much of a fuck about your achievement point score?).

GAME are actually having a pretty decent pay-day sale at the moment on their web-store, most notably selling Bangai-O Spirits for £8...

Nope, both deals work. $20 off the game, get a free guitar with the game.

Snap, I might just do this. I need another guitar for Rock Band anyway.

elwe Apr 6, 2009 11:45 AM

So about this free guitar deal--is it basically buy any related game and get a guitar? Also, which guitar is it? The GHIII one? New? Used? I'm considering nabbing Aerosmith and selling it, since I, too, could use another guitar.

Chaotic Apr 6, 2009 01:48 PM

So I stopped by Gamestop before I headed to class.

You got a free Wired Xplorer guitar when you buy the:
  • Guitar Hero: Aerosmith Bundle
  • Guitar Hero: Aerosmith Game Only
  • Guitar Hero: World Tour Bundle

So, since the the Aerosmith game is only 10 bux, the guitar is literally that price. Should you decide to sell the game back, it would be about five according to what Lukage said over there.

elwe Apr 6, 2009 02:14 PM

I guess I might as well nab one. Now it's a matter of either getting the PS2 one or the 360 one. I don't have a 360, but I'm planning on getting one this summer after I start up work. D: Stopping by before my next class~ FFTA2 was a no-go.

Hmmm, I retract my statement from earlier. I guess the story I heard about it being game only was incorrect. My bad, niggas.

Paco Apr 7, 2009 05:10 PM

Yeah, I'm going over there tonight and picking up a new guitar for myself then.

mortis Apr 7, 2009 07:48 PM

Just so you all know, one of the threads in the Cheap Ass Gamer forum's includes a 10 % off any games that are part of teh Game Day sale. I printed it off, and tried it out and sure enough, they let me get an extra 10 off.

As it turns out, Gamestop got wise to this little loophole and refused to give me a guitar with my purchase of a game that I didn't want in the first place. I could call it a loss of a guitar but, really, it would have taken a lot of scrubbing to wash off the filth of knowing I paid for a glorified Aerosmith album.

Lukage Apr 12, 2009 03:24 AM

I'd complain, as they would have to manually undo the sale. It should have been automatically discounted. *shrug*

Nabbed a War of the Lions so I could motivate myself to get a PSP. I'll grab PSP for the PSP as well.

Oh, I didn't buy the game and I didn't want to start a battle of quarter-wits with a Gamestop employee so I just picked up a copy of Guitar Hero II (360) for $5 and Tomb Raider Anniversary (360) for $15. Not a bad haul for $20.
