Chrono sequel for Xbox 360?
 

It seems that on April 6th, Microsoft will host a Press Conference to announce new games; a Square-Enix project, a Namco project, a top-secret Level 5 online game and others.

One of the projects has supposedly been revealed on Japanese message boards by Famitsu Magazines as Chrono Grance, the new sequel to the Chrono series. It seems that Sakaguchi himself will be responsible for this game. Whether or not Square will be involved has not been revealed.

Played the first Chrono and still love it to this day. The fact that Hironobu Sakaguchi is supposedly behind this one makes it quite interesting, I must say.

Wow, that's interesting. I wouldn't mind a new Chrono game, and it's good to hear that people are possibly developing RPGs for the Xbox circle. First xbox was pretty dry there.

Well they said to keep in mind that this is the April Fool's period. They didn't state whether or not the Famitsu info was released on 4/1.

Seeing as how the dregs of April Fool's day haven't yet disappeared, i'm inclined to distrust this news, but there's still a little peice of me that's hoping it's real.

Come on. The X-Box? Squenix's main market is Japan - nobody in Japan has an X-Box, why would they suddenly make high profile games for it?

Yeah, since Sakaguchi went to Microsoft for Mystwalker Studios, we can expect some good RPGs in the future, especially Lost Odyssey which has a wicked story. Plus, there's the possible Phantasy Star Online which has been rumored for a while now on the 360.

They could release it on any console, and it would still sell.

The Japs would simply have to put aside their fake pride.

As in the final script? Because otherwise, you can't judge the games story until you play it. Games are reviewed after they're released for a reason.

Hell, Oblivion has caused me to step up my plans to buy an Xbox circle {why would I want to spend $300 on a video card for my PC when I wouldn't play any other PC games, rather than spending $400 on something I planned on buying at some point anyway which will have many games I want}.

Since the 360 isn't big in Japan and IF this news is true, MAYBE it'll also be released on PS3. Which seems unlikely, but until everything is cleared up, we can only speculate. :edgartpg:

how do you know people in japan don't have a 360? I run into countless japanese people online in PDZ. I've played with a couple thousand of them and talked to them and the 360 is surely but slowly picking up steam in japan.

This is the best news(I mean, more like, the only news I care about) in regards to the 360 since it's release. I don't know how they'd manage to pull this off but it'll force me to buy a 360 if it happens.

So? the 360 hasn't even been out for 6 months nor produced a title that the japanese will go crazy after and that is why i said it is slowly picking up steam. The japanese treat Sakaguchi like a god and if his games come out to good reviews as well as various other games, the 360 will have a boost in sales. The 360 just needs some strong rpgs and it will sell well in japan, as the japanese are rpg crazy.

Having been someone who grew up in japan, new consoles from companys that aren't nintendo and recently sony don't do well at launch. The original psx didn't pick up much steam in japan nor the U.S until FFVII and the same thing is most likely going to happen with the 360.

Most of the games out for the 360 are not games the japanese are really into which are FPS and generally racers. When the RPG's start flowing, so well the 360 sales in japan.

OK... Square-Enix and X360? USA? Chrono? No no no it CAN'T Be true. IF there would ever be sequel of Chrono games it would be on PS3 NO X360. Yeah it would be nice to see next Chrono BUT on SONY console that I'll buy in future not M$ X360.

I, for one, am not hoping for a Chrono sequel. I really liked CC's story and I figure that it's over and put to rest. To reopen it and fuck with it would be a huge shame.

It's not the only game. I just see more potencial games to play on PS2 and/or PS3. It depends on what you like.
I know but you see how Xbox made DOA it's own game and only for Xbox. They just bought it as an exclusive. Why didn't they make one for them self? They just buy games from other systems. It's ok cause they made damn good job with DOA tune up.
Sorry was thinking about 3 things at once. I say it's like making a 3rd part of the game for system that don't even have first two. I know that this is not game like LoTR that every part connect with each other but they mix somehow and you know it if you finished both.

It's like Shenmue. They made 2nd one on Xbox and put 1st Shenmue movie in to it. This is how it should be? Games should stay on the right platform till the end.

Yeah I remember when Square decided to release Final Fantasy VII on the Nintendo 64 instead of Sony Playstation, just because they released all their previous games on Nintendo consoles. Yeah, even though they were really upset at Nintendo's decision to use cartridges instead of optical discs, they decided to go the route of blind loyalty to Nintendo and release Final Fantasy VII on the N64. Could you even imagine what would have happened if they had developed it for that Sony Playstation console? I mean really, why would they put the 7th game in a series on a Sony console when the previous six had been on Nintendo consoles. That's just dumb!

{and if you ask me, looking purely at the consoles, and not the games, the Xbox {and now Xbox circle} are a whole lot more interesting than PS2. Of course, I have not been keeping up with PS3 info, so maybe it has been given a bunch of features that just TOTALLY blow the Xbox circle out of the water.}

Square Enix was making games on Nintendo consoles because of what Nintendo consoles was offering. Then N64 and PSX were born. They chose PSX because of limited space on a N64 cartridge. When they made Crystal Chronicles, why on the gamecube ?? Why that sudden switch again ? Oh yeah, what Gamecube features. So if it's really true, Square Enix found something really important that XBOX360 is offering that the others don't. But don't ask me what, I don't have a XBOX360 yet, so I don't have a clue.

XBOX360, just like the others, can make money.

This is enough to get my attention.

If Microsoft somehow manages to secure a Chrono Trigger sequel exclusively for the 360...

Square's game is called Project Sylph which is developped with Game Arts. It's a shooter that'll be exclusive for the 360.

And Sakaguchi only announced a demo for Lost Odyssey in Summer 2006 and the game will be released in 2007. Blue Dragon on the other hand will receive a demo at the end of the year.

Furthermore, the rumor probably got started by the fact that SquareEnix is publishing an exclusive RPG on Xbox 360. Tri-Ace (Star Ocean, Valk P) are developing it.

Actually Final Fantasy started on the Famicom, the original, then was ported to the MSX 2. FF2 and 3 were also released on the Famicom. FF4 was the first FF on the SFC.

I can't see why a lot of people get touchy when you talk about their favorite consoles. The trith is: IT'S ALL GAMES. It doesn't really matter on which console the game will be released as long as it is good.

If you want badly play a game, buy the console and stop complaining, end of story. Sure, I know that most people can't buy 3 consoles each generation (I can't), so choose carefully and be happy with the games that come to your video game.

All Microsoft is doing is trying to gather more people to buy their system. Back when I bought my PS2 the reason was MGS2 and FFX, much later (like 3 years) I bought an Xbox, and I'm happy with both.
