I now suddenly feel very stupid for downloading Shining Force 1 and 2 on the Wii.

Come on, for a next-gen I would expect twice this list, but this is all quality so I cannot complain.

And for those of us who already got anything there worthwhile, its no big deal.

Sonic Mega Collection has a bunch of those, and if any of us really wanted any of the titles there, we'd have them already. You honestly want three Golden Axe games?

Oh lawd, watch them remove Streets of Rage again for a T rating.

Aren't there supposed to be some bonus games they haven't announced yet? Perhaps things we haven't seen a zillion times before in previous collections?

No Toe Jam & Earl? No Earthworm Jim? No Landstalker?

Massive FAIL

Not a bad collection, certainly not "ultimate" for some folks. I gather it might be because of licensing or oversight at this point. No Sega collection would be ultimate to me without Gunstar Heroes, but this is still potentially cool depending on how they handle the release.

What's the betting the achievement list involves finishing every single game in the collection without dying or something equally ridiculous?

It's not a bad collection by any means and depending on how it's priced I might pick it up. There's a few things on there I'd be interested in revisiting and I'm sure there are enough to make it more worthwhile getting this than paying for the XBLA versions. I could always just download the emulated ROMs I suppose but it's just not the same is it.

It would mean I have about 4 different versions of Sonic knocking about though.

I'm glad I never bought any genesis games on the virtual console. Honestly, the virtual console is a huge ripoff to me when it comes to anything but n64 games. To buy 4 of those games off that list on the virtual console would be 32 dollars which would buy you this collection of 30 plus games. Of course some of it is crap, but it's still not a bad deal.

I know it's splitting hairs, but really... emulated or on a disc, it just really never will be and I'm not sure it's the original games that draw me in. I've been there and done that on a lot of these releases. I was half tempted to wish Sega would just bring over the Phantasy Star 1 and 2 remakes that were done on the PS2. I get the point of these releases, just not sure if I'd care to bother. It's not bad a collection to me, at this point it just is.

This. If priced correctly there'd be little against picking this up, though I agree with Crash that there's some obvious omissions that deserve to be there.

But Earthworm Jim wasn't made by Sega. I understand it was on the Genesis but it was also on SNES and obviously wasn't made by Sega.

Who cares? They can't throw around the word "ultimate" and then fail to include Earthworm Jim. It's strictly principle.

Earthworm Jim was available for the Sega Genesis. I believe that is enough of a connection for anybody. It is a standard of the English language; you do not use the word "ultimate" and fail to deliver an experience which can immediately be proven inferior.

Look, Crash, you were done the moment you uttered "principle." I know, without your explanation, what you were getting at. I'm pointing out that you look stupid for doing so. You're smart enough to know "Sega" meant "their properties" as far as "Ultimate" experience goes.

This is me saying "you're not clever." Yeah, Earthworm Jim wasn't in it. Sega probably can't put it in because of licensing deals. There's someone out there saying that "John Madden Football" or any other awesome Sega Sports titles aren't in this game and thus this is not an "ultimate collection" and they'd have more of an argument than you do right now... if your comment were even meant to be taken that seriously.

In fact, this more or less looks like the Sega Genesis Collection for the PS2/PSP but with a few more shit swapped titles in it.

Oh I fully understand why EJ couldn't make an appearance, being it was just released on the Virtual Console meaning Nintendo likely has its grubby hands on it, I'm just saying there's no reason to be an enormous dick because Crash suggested it.

But one of the composers of Brawl worked on Xenogears so maybe we will get Citan as a downloadable character or at least Sora because he's still Squaresoft

So we lose four games(of which Sword of Vermilion is probably the only real loss although some people might miss Shadow Dancer as well) but in return gain 16 other games, most of which are good ones(Streets of Rage series, Sonic 3, Shining Force series, Shining in the Darkness, etc).

For a sec there I was thinking "Isn't Beyond Oasis a Game Gear game?" but then remembered that the Game Gear had Defender of Oasis, not Beyond Oasis. Is Beyond Oasis part of the same series as Defender or is it just a coincidence that they have similar names and are both by Sega?

If this is $29.99 I'll be very tempted to get it. On one hand it has a lot of repeat games for me but on the other it has a lot of stuff I don't have but really want(especially the Shining Force series).

No Sonic CD = No sell... again.

Oh yeah, the "HD" sprites. I hated when they did that with Double Dragon for XBLA. It made me feel like I was on newgrounds rather then playing a game on the 360.

God, I was wondering what they were going to do to make it not even remotely wantable by a guy who already bought Beyond Oasis for the Wii & owns the PS2 Genesis Collection & both Sonic collections. Qwarky's got it right with his "joke" about what turning them off is going to be like. WHY DOES A COLLECTION OF GENESIS GAMES EVEN NEED TO BE IN 720p IT MAKES NO SENSE
