Gamingforce Soundtrack III ~ General PC Gaming

So, I've decided to take on the PC Gaming end of the latest GFF soundtrack. It doesn't seem like there was a PC Gaming section on last years soundtrack, so we really don't have to worry about repeats too much, although there were a couple of PC tracks on other categories, have a look here to be sure before making your nominations.

Here are the rules of engagement:

#1: PC/Mac platform exclusive titles only!
(There are some exceptions to this rule, for example, PC games which have had ports or versions put on consoles, but are commonly regarded as PC gaming franchises; examples: "Command & Conquer" "The Sims" "Diablo" "Warcraft", etc. Recently alot of games are released on PC and console platforms at the same time, these will NOT be accepted; recent examples: "Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion" "King Kong" "Prince of Persia", etc.)

#2: We will be filling a single CD, so that's roughly 15-20 tracks at 74 minutes, keep this in mind when nominating.

#3: There are no limitations as far as how old the title is, but remember this is PC/Mac, not Amiga, C64, etc.

#4: There is a maximum of 5 nominations per person. As such, I am asking that you mix them up a little, some classics/oldies, and some newer material. Don't forget to cross genres/composers/game companies as well.

#5: No obscure Japanese hentai dating sim thingies. While I realize some of the music is good, we want to keep an image of recognition.

That should be the general gist of it, post here if you have any questions. I will also provide an FTP account for nomination uploads. If you can't access the FTP for whatever reason, posting a YSI link is also acceptable. The format of the music must be in mp3, and ideally above 128kbps.

That was half of my list. :(

I really think that Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion should be here. The PC version is THE version to get and BY FAR has the larger fan base. The mod community is ridiculous. In fact, I would place the Elder Scrools series along with the examples that you listed just before it as a PC gaming franchise that have been ported to console a few times. I'm sure many others will agree with me.

Godai Apr 2, 2006 08:23 PM

I'm not completely against putting "Elder Scrolls IV" in that category, maybe because I really enjoyed the score. I'll let Capo come here and make that executive decision though.

Tails Apr 2, 2006 08:45 PM

I don't even play PC games!

1. Joel Eriksson - Battlefield 1942 Loading Theme
2. Jets'n'Guns - Death From Above

k.

el jacko Apr 2, 2006 09:05 PM

1. Simcity 4 Rush Hour - ElectriCITY
2. Heroes of Might of Magic IV - Hope (better known here as "Dirt")

THE POWER OF WATER Apr 2, 2006 09:07 PM

Okay, here's my NON-PORNOGRAPHIC list:

Cave Story - On To Grasstown
Descent II - Crush
The Incredible Machine 2 (Red Book Audio) - Progressive
Perfect Cherry Blossom - Necrofantasia
Shogo: Mobile Armor Division - Negai (Wish)

List EXTREMELY subject to change, so I won't upload anything for now; I might end up swapping out every single track at some point in time.

Mucknuggle Apr 2, 2006 09:14 PM

1. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Atmosphere 6

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Apr 2, 2006 09:42 PM

Just in case CHz changes his nomination, I'll repeat it here. NECROPHANTASIA deserves IMMORTALITY for rockin' so hard.

1) Perfect Cherry Blossom - NECROPHANTASIA
2) SIMCITY 2000 - 10001 (No title as it's redbook audio and that's how it appeared on the disc. It's the main theme though.)

Godai Apr 2, 2006 10:18 PM

My FTP is up if you folks wanna upload your noms.

Skexis Apr 2, 2006 10:34 PM

This is more of an open call question, but are we going to exclude games that are multiplatform entirely? I mean, if we only do exclusives then obviously some titles will not be able to fit anywhere.

We'd be missing out on some good ones, if so. I'd like to see Beyond Good & Evil and Soul Calibur II (among others) nominated in at least one thread.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Apr 2, 2006 10:37 PM

I've been thinking about this. Oblivion music could either be placed in the General PC Gaming album, the RPG album, or the General Gaming album. They all have their merits. Elder Scrolls was originally a PC exclusive, and has, according to you people, a bigger fanbase. BZ may argue otherwise but that's for another day. Lately, however, Elder Scrolls has come into the console world much more, and holds equal releases on the consoles, namely the 360. This would place it in the General Game Music album. And then there is the matter of it being an RPG, which would place it in the RPG album.

Just a word of warning: this is my final decision on this. There is to be no arguing, for nothing will change my mind. The RPG album has been fucking up things more than it's been helping. This was my fear at the beginning, and I don't know why I brought it back. There is nothing, nothing that can be put on the RPG album that couldn't be put somewhere else. For that reason, the RPG album is now being done away with.

As for the Elder Scrolls music, the music from Oblivion should be put in the General Game Music album, because of the simultaneous release. They show no bias towards any system now, though because they did prior to this game, all Elder Scrolls 1-3 music should be put in the PC Gaming album.

Sorry for the inconvenience to everyone.

Thanks el jacko. I missed that.

Amanda Apr 3, 2006 12:44 AM

ARG!! It was so hard to choose five! And even then, I still cheated a little. Since Sierra's adventure game music doesn't seem to get nearly enough love these days, they get most of my nominations.

1) Quest For Glory 1: So You Want To Be A Hero? - Main Title Theme
Or Hero's Quest, for you purists. Since these were some of the first video games I ever played, this theme sums up everything that PC gaming is about for me.

2) Quest For Glory 1: So You Want To Be A Hero? - The Magic Meadow (Erana's Peace)
Now, this is a nice song. But the thing is, I'm not certain that this version of the song is actually from the game. It might be from the VGA version; I'm used to the EGA version, so I couldn't tell you. But it's very possible that it's a re-recorded version from the people at Quest Studios. If that makes it ineligible for this soundtrack, then I'll substitute it with....
Quest For Glory 5: Dragon Fire - The Dance of Mystery and Intrigue
Mysterious, calm, and pretty.

3) Thief: The Dark Project - Dark Beat
The music that plays during the credits. Sort of industrial, sort of ambiant, all kinds of nifty.

4) The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind - Title Theme
If Morrowind tunes go here instead of somewhere else, it would be a crime not to have it.

Mmm... I'm torn on my last nomination. I'll edit this later when I decide which one to go for.

Godai Apr 3, 2006 12:50 AM

Thanks for the noms, I'll be waiting for your last choice. One thing though, the first one is in OGG format, I need mp3s, would you happen to have it in that format?

Done and done. I updated my other post to include the new file.

Elorin Apr 3, 2006 07:24 AM

Fairly esoteric mix of songs. Will upload them within the week. Is there a dateline we must keep for uploads?

Divine Divinity (Game Rip) - Track 24 - "Whispers From A Council Past"

SimCity 4 Rush Hour Soundtrack - Track 4 - "Wheels Of Progress"

The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall (Game Rip) - "Winter1"
Daggerfall is the second game in the Elder Scrolls series.

Heroes of Might and Magic IV The Soundtrack - Track 20 - "Battle III"

The Sword of Xuan Yuan Side Story - The Green Tide (Game Rip) - "Fight02"

Aardark Apr 3, 2006 10:38 AM

Anachronox -- Brain Train.

Gone Jackals -- Get Outta Town (Full Throttle).

Louis Armstrong -- A Kiss To Build A Dream On (Fallout 2 obv.).

Scrapland -- Human.

With emphasis on obscure, Japanese, hentai or dating sim?
Is Falcom music popular enough to be recognizable or too Japanese?
Do hentai games qualify that don't focus on dating, but rather on stalking or raping and play like RPGs/Action Adventures?
What about games released in America and with cut-out hentai scenes, like Phantom of Inferno or Ever17?

Kaleb.G Apr 3, 2006 12:26 PM

Does Deus Ex count as a PC franchise?

If so, I would like to nominate the song "DuClare Chateau" from the original Deus Ex.

You should be able to get it from the #gamemp3s release I made for you; if not, I'll upload it later.

I think games that focus on raping would be ok

Dullenplain Apr 3, 2006 11:08 PM

Sim City 3000 - Concrete Jungle

It can be downloaded here

Drakken Apr 4, 2006 12:12 AM

Sim City 3000 - Sim Broadway
The War of Genesis 3 (Korean RPG) - Destruction
The Incredible Machine 3 - Progressive
The Sims 2 game rip - CAS
Tyrian - Tyrian, the Level

That's about as varied a list as you can get.

Sim Broadway and CAS are long songs, but they're very good long songs. :D

I feel bad not nominating an Age of Mythology song, since that's some of the best-fitting PC music I've ever heard. Um...if, say, the TS2 track is too long, I'd like to nominate Flavor Cats (In the Comfort Zone) from AoM.

EDIT: I forgot about TIM 3! Had to nominate Progressive, so I removed Track 4 from Dr. Brain.

Stealth Apr 4, 2006 12:57 AM

C&C Red Alert 1 - Hell March
C&C Red Alert 1 - Roll Out
C&C - Airstrike

Falcom is alright, as long as it appeared on PC, and it's not taken by General Gaming. As for the hentai, how about just something that is somewhat familiar not to just you and Japanese pedos. :)

Personally I'd go with the Versalife Music and/or the Area 51 music, as both are awesome ambient tracks...

Just Wondering, have you ever heard of a guy named Sivac Drak? He makes awesome piano versions of Deus Ex tracks on Soundclick
You can find it here

Josiah Apr 5, 2006 12:31 AM

This has a pretty decent variation.

Descent 2 - Are You Descent?
Diablo - Tristram
Guild Wars - Autumn In Ascalon
Jazz Jackrabbit 2 - Medieval Jam
Unreal Tournament 2004 - Hyperblast Redux

Already uploaded. I was thinking of nominating Hell March 2 from Red Alert 2, but Stealth already beat me on the C&C stuff.

DML Apr 5, 2006 03:37 AM

Alright, here's my list of goods.

Deus Ex - The Synapse (Hong Kong Streets)
World of Warcraft - A Call to Arms
Call of Duty - Call of Duty
Diablo II - Rogue
7th Guest - Main Theme

As for the 7th Guest, an actual soundtrack was never released and it looks like the redbook is a bit of a mess - at least the redbook I found. Anyone who's ever played 7th Guest knows exactly what I'm referring to.

Aztaroth Apr 5, 2006 05:56 AM

Actually there is a soundtrack album called 7/11 which contains the music from the 7th guest and 11th hour:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...9731029?n=5174

Teioh Apr 5, 2006 11:38 AM

I will nominate only one track

Shoreless Ocean from Age of Pirates - Caribbean Tales Original Soundtrack

I don't think Japanese pedos are familiar with this, so I guess it qualifies for the CD. If you know a Japanese pedo who has played this game, I'll withdraw my nomination, of course. We don't want this compilation of precious Western game music to be associated with immoral Japanese lifestyles, do we?

Godai Apr 5, 2006 03:26 PM

OMFG...the Cold War has been rekindled. Quick, get the White House on the horn, count how many nukes we have left! BAIL OUT.

el jacko Apr 5, 2006 10:01 PM

I can't connect to your FTP. Here are my nominations, plus one more.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0302HOGU

the third track is: Starcraft - Terran 3

Djinova Apr 6, 2006 07:31 AM

I'll throw in some stuff...

--- chiptune
Lotus Land Story - Faint Dream ~ Inanimate Dream
Mystic Square - Dimension of Reverie
--- non-chiptune
Perfect Cherry Blossom - Charming Domination
Immaterial and Missing Power - Demystify Feast
Imperishable Night - Voyage 1969

All tracks loop once and will be uploaded shortly.

silvervalkyrie Apr 6, 2006 12:55 PM

Homeworld - Adagio For Strings

*more later*

Amanda Apr 6, 2006 11:37 PM

Probably a stupid question, but...how can I get at your FTP? I finally have time to fiddle around with uploading my songs rather than just linking 'em, but it wants a password and I didn't see one in your first post. I probably just have teh dum or something, but...help? ^^;

Godai Apr 7, 2006 02:33 AM

pyramidhead.dyndns.org port 21

Amanda Apr 7, 2006 03:58 PM

Ack, never mind. The password was fine after all (I'd tried that one and it wouldn't connect at the time), but it was just something else being screwy with my FTP programme. I see you already have 'em uploaded, though. :) I deleted the .ogg file since the same file is there as an MP3 now, and tidied up the filenames a bit. I can deleted "The Dance and Mystery of Intrigue" too, if the Erana's Peace tune is acceptable after all.

Oh, and I uploaded my fifth nomination:
Space Quest 4: Roger Wilco and the Time Rippers - Kerona
I was searching for something fun and upbeat to round out my track nominations, and this one jumped out at me as soon as I heard it. A little tribute to the old-school Space Quest theme at the beginning, and then it jumps into a lively, Runaway Five-esque tune.

neothe0ne Apr 7, 2006 08:37 PM

1. Death From Above, from Jets'n'Guns
2. Hyperblast Redux, from UT2004 (low quality in-game version) (higher quality site version)
3. Main Menu, from UT2003 (low quality in-game version) (higher quality site version)
4. The Black Gate Opens (cut), from LotR: Battle for Middle Earth (160kbps in-game version) (My cut in -VBR 0 --vbr-new from the RotK soundtrack)
5. Hay Seed, from The Incredible Machine*

*I have a lossless copy.

Elorin Apr 8, 2006 03:48 AM

I've uploaded all my nominations. Actually considering of using some of them for future Song of the Week nominations...

In case anyone was wondering, The Sword of Xuan Yuan Side Story is a Taiwanese wuxia (i.e. swordfighting) RPG. The composers are Wu Xin Rui and Zeng Zhi Hao (note that family names come first; middle names are not applicable in this case). Amazingly, MobyGames actually lists the game, as well as other titles from the series...

Godai Apr 10, 2006 08:24 PM

Hey guys, thank for the uploads and noms. I'm away from home at the moment, but I'll be back tomorrow and I'll get things organized then.

splur Apr 11, 2006 07:53 PM

Please don't kill me for some of these songs, for some reason I liked them. They're not rock like the majority of the ones posted here... heh.

1. Quake II - Intro Theme (It's when you start the game and it shows you a demo of someone else playing)
2. The Sims 2 - Pleasantville (when you load up pleasantview)
3. Guild Wars - Intro Music (when you start it up, the asian sounding one)

Seems I'm out of songs, everything else I want has been stated. The only song I have is the Plesantville theme and it's terrible quality. I'll look around for a copy of these songs, but a bit of help would be appreciated.

Talec Apr 16, 2006 02:40 AM

1. Crusader: No Remorse - the traveller (Main Menu Screen)
2. Epic Pinball - drenaline
3. Jazz Jackrabbit 3D [Alpha Demo] - Castle City
4. Lords of Magic - Region of Earth
5. RAMA - Myrmicat Area (This one is 96kbps, but I encoded it in VBR and that's what it came out as. It sounds fine in a CD player, to me at least..)

Mrf. Never uploaded to someone else's FTP before. Hope I didn't break anything. :P

I believe you're referring to the Guild Wars Factions Theme. I got it from buying the soundtrack. It's been uploaded to Tappy's FTP, but I haven't seen it actually added yet. Here's that one track from YouSendIt.

Hey Kaleb, yeah go ahead. I feel bad, I haven't got around to finishing this up, and now I'm outside the country for another half a week. My FTP is offline at home, so just save them for next week.
