Gamingforce Soundtrack III - The Place of Laughs and Games disc
Allright trendsetters this is the offical thread for discussing inclusions for the Place of Laughs and Games disc of the latest GFF soundtrack.
A few guidelines as per your nominations:
I've thrown togethor a tenuous list of tracks as a start but I really need some imput from you guys too, afterall this is a community event. Artists I've got at the moment include TISM, Frenzal Rhomb, Weird Al, They Might Be Giants, Tripod, Guido Hatzis and Rodney Rude. I want to try and get as much variety in artist and genre as possible on this disc. Spoken word suggestions are encouraged but I was thinking of songs taking up at least 60% of the album. |
What about Japanese people trying really hard to sing in English and failing? I've got some tracks that are pure Engrish bliss.
|
Sounds good!
|
If I might forward a suggestion, tone down the Australian content a bit maybe? Diversify! Having said that, here are some musical suggestions.
William Shatner - Common People 50 Pence - P.I.N.T Goldie Looking Chain - Half Man Half Machine First one should be pretty obvious as to what it is, the second two are somewhat similar in style yet quite different in content. 50 Pence is a UK rapper, his schtick is pretty obvious also. Goldie Looking Chain are a welsh rap group, pretty fucking funny too. Should you want to only have one of them, I'd give the nod to GLC over 50 Pence. |
You need "History Is Made By Stupid People" by The Arrogant Worms on this disc.
Although, truthfully, it would work well for Political Palace too. |
Here are a few humourous sounding ones I have (hyperlinked because there's very little chance you've even heard of them before):
Spamtron - Soul Destruction The Waffle Song Naomi - Krafty Lord Gore - Rape Camp P.S Crash - Whilst listening to Rape Camp, it looked like your penguin was dancing to it. That amused me more than slightly. |
Nominating "Albie" by Flight of the Conchords. That song is hilarious, and they're pretty talented musicians.
|
|
I second the Waffle Song that Moon posted. :edgartpg:
Here's another one: You're a Pink Toothbrush (Smurfs!) |
How about some Kevin Bloody Wilson? Dunno if you've heard of him but it cracked me up when I first heard him a few years back. I'd be pretty immune to it now but I think he's still funny! That's What He Really Said is probably my favourite, but if you don't think that's appropriate after hearing I'll suggest a couple of others.
If there was a Sewers one this might have been a bit more appropriate for there, but it doesn't look like there is this year, so this is the next best place. |
There is a Sewers album, Seris is just slacking right now. It should be up within the next couple days. And if it isn't, I'll reopen the sign-ups for coordinating that album.

Hey what about that Hamster Dance song?
I think it was "Hamster Dance" by Hampton the Hamster something. |
I nominate:
Steven Lynch - D&D Warp 11 - Everything I do, I do with William Shatner Flogging Molly - Seven Drunken Nights |
William Shatner - Common People (as suggested by PEACOCK)
"Hardonz" by The Left Rights. "Barbie Girl" by Aqua. |
|
I can just say right now that the Hamster Dance and Barbie Girl isn't making it onto the CD. Common People is now on as I have that song already.
I'll take into consideration msot of these others suggested that have upload links. I'll just have to grab them hopefully this weekend or sometime (limited bandwidth atm.) Quote:
Also how would everyone feel if I included the Cloudsong lol from ytmnd or something for lols? |
RABicle. Don't count out my suggestion. I'll have the link for you in a week or two, when I can get access to the computer all my music is on. I don't forsee this ending before then, anyway.
|
You can't get much better than Duck Egg. It's not supposed to be funny, and it's hilarious on that alone.
|

Superhero by Stephen Lynch The Ultimate Showdown |
Just about anything by Totally Radd! Especially Dressed Up and Mike Tyson's Punchout.
|
I nominate:
Tom Lehrer: The Elements Oedipus Rex The Masochism Tango Unfortunately I don't have the music to any of them. |

|
I nominate:
Anything by Group X, specifically the songs, "Idioth", "Mario Twins", and "Good Girl Yes! Bad Girl No!" |
Must the tracks have funny lyrics or just an inherent comical character? For that matter, can tracks from video games be nominated?
|
I guess there's nothing to stop you from nominating Video Game tracks but I will quickly disregard them, particuarly since there is going to be like 7 other albums with VG music on them.
|
Well, I understand. My nomination would be from a very obscure game. I upload this sample, so we can see whether it fits your expectations in the first place, ?.
I am not even sure, you'll find it "funny". http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VNXHAWNW |
Since this is "The Place of Laughs and Games", I bet a song that isn't funny won't make the final cut.
|
Do you all remember hatepissannoy.mid from the old days of Gamingforce? That one, that one...
|
1. Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring, Banana Phone!
2. Azn Pride - Combo Number 5 (link) 3. All Your Base Are Belong To Us (Flash Movie) (link to SWF movie, rip MP3 out with free FlashDigger Plus |
Ugh, I remember one of the most terrible song from www.olremix.com titled "Terra's Bad News" it's goddamn horrible that might make you laugh to death. (The person played a synth of Terra's theme and howling words like "newwwwwwws"... UGH truly2 bad, but in same time I found it hilarious.)
I will post the link later. Double Post: http://www.olremix.org/remixes/?id=162 |
Quote:
That was used in last year's soundtrack. |
What about these songs???
1. Y.O.D.A. (Spoof of song YMCA from the Village People)~ Weird Al Yankovich 2. I Ran Over The Taco Bell Dog~ Weird Al Yankovich 3. Who Let The Cows Out?~ Weird Al Yankovich I know alot more if you want me to find them. (I have like three CDs of 'em) |
I already saw a William Shatner song suggested..but I'd like to suggest:
William Shatner featuring Henry Rollins - I Can't Get Behind That If I can find a copy..I will willingly surrender it. |
Nina Gordon - Straight Outta Compton Now, this song isn't actually funny, but the fact that she turned NWA's Straight Outta Compton into a soft, mellow song was funny.
I dunno, I don't really listen to funny music. *shrug* |
Ok update: I'm going home tomorrow, I'llbe able to download all the tracks poeple have kindly linked for me, I'll even do a search for some of these other ones. The album should be mostly finalised in a week.
|
Ok. I'll get links up for my nominations once I get home.
|
|
Some of these nominated songs that you guys have supplied me with are flat out fucked. I can reveal that Rape Camp, as suggested by Moon, will not feature on the disc.
|
So how far are you into this, RAB?
|
It's basically done. Jsut a few changes to the track list and order maybe. Big part will be me bothering to convert everything to mp3.
