Good ol' ringtones. Where would we be without God-awful ringtones? I have a few ringtones I cycle through depending where I am. At school with my buddies, it's "BOOM HEADSHOT!" by FPS Doug, at work it's "Level 1-2 from Super Mario 1 for NES", and at home it's "LEEROOOOOY mmJENKIIINS!!" to wake me up.

Right now it's "Bananaphone".

I've had the same ringtone on my phones for the past year or so: The Clash - London Calling. I mainly only got this because I just wanted a ringtone that sounded like a PHONE RINGING but T-Mobile has that annoying jingle of theirs and Samsung phones (which I've used over the past 2 years) have never had the best selection of built-in ringtones. I figured I'd just give in and at least get a song I enjoy listening to on a regular basis.

I alternate between remixes of the original NES Contra theme and SMB.

I can't do those fancy mp3s, mostly because I refuse to actually put them on my phone. SO ANNOYING. And I like actual RING TONES.

Vivaldi - Winter.

It's one of the defaults - I'm not up to spending money for a "real" ringtone.

When my wife calls, it's the Matoya's Cave/Dwarf Cave theme from FF1. When my best friend calls, it's Green Hill Zone from Sonic 1. When someone from work calls, it's Vampire Killer. When someone not on my list calls, I get a song from Kirby's Adventure.

The silent hill acoustic theme from the first game. So awsome ^_^

My ringtone is the chorus of BYOB by SOAD. My phone has been on silent a lot though.

Mine is myself screaming very loud...yeah it went off in bank one day...scared the shit out of everyone. :biggrin:

Led Zeppelin - When the Levee Breaks. Certainly the song is overplayed, but it's attention-getting and nice to listen to. Sometimes I let it keep playing instead of answering my phone.

My phone's ringtone format sucks (.mmf), so I have a shitty ringtone of Styx' Mr. Roboto that just says the "Domo arigato mr. roboto" over and over.
It gets stuck in my head easily.

My ringtone is the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Theme. My phone is usually on silent though, so I never really get to hear it.

I wake to my phone's Dance of the Swans from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, and for calls, I believe it's currently Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu.

My first ringtone on my cellphone was a segment off BT's "Knowledge of Self." For about a week, I used a segment from a song made by my friend (SuperGreenX, maybe you heard some of his stuff). Then I went back to the BT song. It rarely plays as my phones always on Vibrate anyway when it's not plugged in.

I hacked my phone and most of my friends have their own theme now.

I hate all Ringtones. MIDI ones, MP3 ones. A standard "phone ring" I can tolerate, but I don't enjoy. I leave my phone on Vibrate 24/7.

My ringtone is a sound wave that creates 100% destructive interference with any ringtone that sounds like a classical piece. Also, it rings whenever your phone rings.

A simple 2 octave arpeggio. I think I was fiddling around with the limited composition features at the time (those were the days…) when I realized that I probably wasn’t going to be able to come up with anything better due to the rudimentary of the software.

Mine is set to vibrate and then ring, with about a three second delay before it actually rings if I don't notice the vibration. The ringtone itself is from one of the openings of rurouni kenshin, very cheesy. It is also the alarm I listen to when I wake up.

Mine is really nerdy - FFVI - Decisive Battle. But I only use that when I'm at home. When I'm out, it's pure vibrate.

I have mine set to the Prelude from Final Fantasy series. It's really a simple one, pretty much an arpeggio with the 2nd note of the scale. I think the 3rd note alternates from a major to a minor.

Due to the fact that I rarely have my phone in pockets where I'll notice it vibrating (my pants are mostly a bit on the baggy side) I have to use a ringtone.

Right now it's the bassline in the intro of "Sweet Child O' Mine". Monophonic ringtones ftw.

All incoming calls are set to the first 20 seconds of Utada Hikaru's "Traveling." It's the instrumental only, since there are vocals in the beginning. My phone tends to be on silent for the majority of the day until I'm out of class or at home though.

I got mines set to FFX prelude but sometimes i set it to this weird techno music I have, not sure of the title but it just sounds great.

I have the greatest message tones on Earth on my phone. I have Tails' remix of Night Phoenix's GFF diss aka fuck shit bitch nigga sass fuck shit and so forth. I should also put ::gong gong:: on it too. Justice phone.

I think I have Lowrider by War as my ringtone at the moment, but I switch around alot, sup mp3 format.

I think ringtones are the most aggravating shit on the planet. Even though I can't put ringtones on my phone (it's a pile of shit) I still keep it on vibrate 24/7.

Ringtone- "Poi Poi Peace Instrumental ver." It took me a while to get it sound just right. Finally it sounds like the one you hear.

I currently have the theme of Legend of Zelda II, but I'm planning to change it fast, cause each time it my phone rings, it reminds me of my ex, which used to to call me too much often and it was pissing me off. Yeah I'm definitely going to change it. Probably another good ol' classic vgm theme. Or the ringtone of Basile calling Austin Powers !!! Original.

Well, right now, I have Lorene Drive's "Let It Go" as my current ringtone, but it'll usually flip around to the other 10 ringtones that I have right now; generally every 10 days I change it around, just for a change of pace.

I use a recording of an actual telephone, the kind that sits on an end table with the cord and receiver and plugs into the wall. The kind that used to be big, black and clunky, the type that could be used as a murder weapon if you wished.

Why?

Because a fucking telephone should SOUND like a telephone.

Nothing is more aggravating than hearing some shitty recording of "Lady Marmalade" come out of nowhere as everyone glances around, pretending they don't own a cellphone with "Lady Marmalade" set to it.

Whereas with my phone, when it rings, it sounds like actual ringing. I can say to people "Hold on! I have an incoming telephone call. I can tell because it sounds like an incoming telephone call and not a low-bitrate recording of Kanye West being broadcast through an elephant's ass."

Mine's is "Feel Good, Inc" by the Gorillaz and Pink Panther. I put it on all incoming calls that aren't in my phonebook. For family and friends, I use the generic rings that came with the phone.

Mine is the FFIX Airship theme, or the Windmill song from Ocarina of Time depending on who calls. Most of the time it's on vibrate though, because people always seem to call when I'm in the middle of a class >_>

I have Ridge Racer 5's "RareHero2000" that I got the other day. It's now the new "unfamiliar calls" ringtone.

I was very torn between this and another theme, but as awesome as it is, it got trumped by the theme to Monkey Island. Its classy.

Can't stand cellphones! My only reason for ever getting one would be to put in the back seat of my car, but the ring-tone would be the Final Fantasy victory fanfare or the chocobo theme... that would rock!

Don't laugh, After all my hate of main stream rap this phone was only used for a month before it's previous owner but when I recieved it as a gift from my older brother It came with a bunch of various ring tones and my current ring tone is "Can't Knock the Hustle". Seriously, I've only vaugly heard of the song but yeah it works as a ring tone.

Since this thread was last active, I changed my ring tone to the intro to Put your ass into it by Ice Cube. When my girlfriend rings it plays Orrizonte from the Suikoden 2 OST because I'm a massive fag.

Mine is the Metal Gear Solid codec sound. Distinctive enough to know its my phone that's ringing, but not so much that it can't pass for just another ringtone noise.

Every nerd has that, though.

Go into any game store and have that ring go off and watch how many people check their shit.

Not saying it's not a good one or anything, but I find that I bump into it too much.

My current ringtone is 'Frolic' by Luciano Michelini, probably better known to most as the theme song to Curb Your Enthusiasm. I might need to change that though since I always get someone trying to do a Larry David impression every time it goes off.

Nah man, if you like it, why the hell not? It's just something I've noticed personally when I'm in any place where nerds tend to gather.

It works quite well for being an injoke that most other people won't get though, and it's hard to find something else that feels that appropriate as a ringtone.

I just use Magical Sound Shower, because I'm a tool.

I used One Winged Hut for quite a while, that's an awesome ring tone.

I always found polyphonic ringtones to be pretty embarrassing (especially in public...), so I opted for something more simplistic: "Select Mode" from DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS.

My reception hiccuped and spotted the missed call. My prof just started role call (small class, but attendance was mandatory). He said "so, anyone not here?" Then my phone promptly started screaming for Snake :( Prof thought it was pretty hilarious though.

I've always had stuff that makes people think I'm a weirdo. I remember having one of the very first phones where you could record a sound for your ringtone, and I had a Ford A horn for a while.

It's gotten depressingly more hard having people cringe, as having anything weird on your phones these days are the norm. So now I mostly have music that the general public hate. Right now I dig bagpipes.

I've never bothered figuring out how to correctly convert a song into a ringtone since my phone is really picky about what works, so I just have it set to the one preset ringtone that rings like an actual phone. I used one of the dumb little songs (I think it was called "Sword Dance") on my previous phone, but that didn't work out too well. I used it so infrequently that when it did ring I'd just look around wondering where the strange music was coming from until someone would point out that it was my pocket.

This routinely made me check my phone and trying to look important whenever the phones went off during staff meetings and junk only to remember that I have no friends. :(

In order to be able to tell my phone apart, I loaded a bunch of soundsets on my phone for everything except for the phone's incoming call ringtone since that changes to whatever song in my library sounds catchy that week. All my past ringtones are in here and their matching wallpapers here. (For the record, my current one is the cover of Boston's self-titled album with the ringtone being the guitar intro to Long Time.)

My Blackberry and my Nokia both have the complete set of sound effects from Quake on them so you get various gib shower noises and the Quad damage sound for different types of message and email on each.
