If you woke up one morning.
Lets say you wake up one morning and suddenly your back in your old apartment and your age was ten years younger, and you realize that the last 10 years you have lived was all a dream?
What would you do? Personally i would be really stoked out!! i would first calm myself and then be overcome with a wave of happiness, because then i can fix things that i have done wrong (Assuming i keep my dream memories) Discuss. |
I would think "FUCK! I have to do it all again?". Probably.
|
"Alright, people! Let's take it from the top with lot more liquor and a little less suck!"
|
There were a lot of people just begging to be socked in the face when I was younger, I would take every opportunity I could to do so. Then maybe I'd learn how not to hold grudges....
Nah. |
Well, given what you just said, I would retain all the knowledge and experience I gained in the last ten years.
With that being said, I would use what I learned, especially regarding the new technological advances, to set up quite a future for myself and others. I mean, this is like the old 'if only I knew M$ would be as it were and I placed stock into it' but changing M$ to, say, Apple, and their iPods or whatnot. |
I'd go directly to the girl I'm currently seeing and introduce myself.
|
I'd spend a whole lot less time stoned, and a whole lot more time studying and working hard. I was such a slacker in my twenties, and I expect I could see some major changes to my current situation if I applied my current frame of mind to the situation.
Mortis also makes a good point. I know all kinds of things that would have shocked me back then. Microsoft making the most successful games console? I can barely believe it even now, let alone ten years ago. Ideally I would want to go back further if I was going to start living my life over with the same knowledge though. I'm not entirely dissatisfied with my current situation, but I know I could do better than I ever did. The only part that would suck is that I'm almost certain there wouldn't be any way to make sure things work out with my current girlfriend in that timeline. You can't reliably duplicate a chance meeting, and there's no way to know if she would initially be drawn to me in the same way. |
This seems to be the dream most people have, to properly re-live ther lives, to fix their past mistakes etc. But the real problems come from certain instances when things were set up perfectly before that created something great, like meeting new people or getting a job unexpectedly or randomly getting something of value, Im sure when you re-live your expected early life, those instances wont show cause youve altered the balance or something to that effect.
Anyway, yeah, reliving early days is definately the dream and to know that the good things that happened will still happen would make it perfect. Id personally play catch up with a bunch of games, avoid and meet some people I know, you know, stuff most people would do |
What would I do if I was sent back to 1998?
(1) Invest in the Stock Market (2) Use funds earned with #1 to finance a tech startup in an area known to grow and be bought (i.e. start MySpace) (3) High School Chicks. |
I'd be 9. So I'd probably finish grade school.

I'd put a lot more effort into high school, completely avoiding the 4 years that I've spent at community college due to a lack of a good GPA to get into a "real college" right out of high school.
|
I'd be 8... So, I'd probably take more initiative on stuff that I regretted doing during my middle school and high school years.
Maybe then I'd get the girl. ;_; |
I'd stop complaining about the trivial shit that bothered me when I was eight, and realise that things never lose their potential to get a lot, lot worse.
|
I'd go back to sleep, then keep waking up ten years earlier, until I'm a dinosaur chasing Captain Caveman around.
|
Seeing as how I'd be 13 if it was 10 years ago I'd probably force myself to practice guitar more, draw more and be less of a pussy when it comes to asking out girls.
|
If i were mentally 10 years younger, I'd drink myself to death. If I were physically 10 years younger.. oh wait.
|
I'd invest in Microsoft, Google, and Apple stock! :p
I'll also make a very large bet on a terrorist attack happening on September 11, 2001... Ehm. Sticky can of worms, this. Profit or save lives? :3: |
I've thought about this. It'd be pretty pimp to try high school all over again, and then not waste three years on a major I hated. I've spent the last 10 years becoming myself without really accomplishing much else. So if I could still be me but have all that time back, I'd be pretty stoked I guess.
|
I'd fly to California and find some guy named Juan who was all 14 and little and a bitch. And then I'd stomp his nuts. Because I think it'd be funny to hear Enceph tell this story about how some huge gringo just came up out of nowhere when he was like, 15, and just wailed on his junk, yelling about how he'd thank him for it in a few years when he avoided an unfortunate pregnancy scare because his boys shot blanks.
I'd be doing it for you, lawn care expert. |
As long as my sausage still worked, I'd love you forever, lumberfuck. <3

I'd probably say "fuck" and proceed to do everything over again the exact same way I did in my dream.
|
I'd be pretty disappointed since I've put in a lot of work so far to get to where I am. I'm also a little over a year away from getting my degree, so waking up one morning to find out that I'd have to "do it again" would be really disheartening. :(
|
I'd probably be disappointed quite a lot because I'm pretty proud of all the things I've accomplished in my life so far despite moving away to work for a few months at the time.
The big things I would do is take advantage of a lot of missed opportunities I've had in my life especially in university. Since 10 years ago, I would be finishing high school and going to university. I would probably try to get my fiance a lot earlier in life, but other than that I wouldn't really change that much. |
Actually, I think I'd be quite happy with it. It's not that I don't like where I am right now, but if there's something that I've wanted to change in my life then it is not fucking up my back and arms by overpracticing at the guitar and bad ergonomics when sitting by the computer from a young age. If I knew better back then, I think my life right now would have been totally different.
|
well. with the mindset of an 11 year old, i'd think "whoa! what was THAT?!", but if i was to look at it with my current mindset however, i would be disappointed that i didn't take full advantage of the dress rehearsal.
this makes me wonder whether or not i'd have the maturity/intelligence that i accumulated through the 10 years of dreaming (which certainly could be abused to exhaustion) i find this question difficult to answer because it seems to revolve about what kind of life a person would desire or what changes a person would make to their life. personally, i find that there is nothing i have done that i would prefer to have changed. life simply progresses the way it intends to. it would, however, be rather interesting to observe how influential i could have been of the future and how great my sphere of influence could be... though, on the chance that i wake up on the wrong side of the bed... for amusement's sake (being that i lost all respect for the seriousness of life, having been sent back 10 years), i'd probably end up building gff from the ground up so we would all have the means to communicate and collectively change the future beneath humanity's feet (as gff does now >:3). oh yeah. i guess i would probably sit further from the TV when playing videogames~ |
I'd get up and take a burley shit.
Then I'd get emo because Eva Angelina hadn't hit the hardcore porn circuit yet. |
fixing stuff?
no way..i have a 2nd chance to have even more fun i mean..no matter what you do, in the end you fuck up anyway, so why not party as long as youre young...10 years younger....thats 15....holy...lotsa good parties to have once again..even harder than the 1st time, because i know where things end....fucking with time sounds like a fun thing to do |
Id be freaked out cos Id be 10 nearly 11 and at home with my mom :(

yeah...I definitely agree with the whole "Oh shit...I have to do all that AGAIN!?" post.
Actually, I'd convince my parents to let me take Piano lessons. |
Assuming the dream was completely lucid and I kept all my memories and skills, I don't see how anyone could not be absolutely ecstatic that they just got 10 years for free. Not to mention I'd suddenly be a freakin' child prodigy. Schoolwork can be tested out of, so the only thing that would suck (a LOT) is that everyone else doesn't remember being friends with you for 10 years. But I think it'd still be worth it.
|
Invest in the big winners and listen to classic rock at an earlier age. It would suck to learn that you'd be some lame kid again in elementary school, though, instead of living it up in post 21 life.

Second I'd probably be happy because chances are the apartment wouldn't be haunted like my house was. Do you know how annoying it is when you're a kid and your house is haunted and the ghosts only ever show themselves to you and your sister? Our parents didn't believe it until we both had gone our separate ways and the ghosts got lonely or something. Third I'd be disappointed because at an earlier age I'd realized it was the suspiciously cheap stuff for our bedrooms my parents bought used that was haunted. In real life I didn't realize this until I was 25 and according to dad the ghosts went away when he sold all that. Although if it was a dream then hopefully the ghosts really were just attached to the house and either way I'd still get bragging rights for having lived in a haunted house. Fourth, I'd be realize that in the dream my best years were the last four, when I finally moved out and then I'd be sad again. Fifth, I really can't say I'd try to fix anything. If it's a dream then it clearly wasn't reality, and even reality were to mirror the dream I must've done something right since I'm still alive. Besides, I have the memory of a goldfish, I forgot most of the stuff I did anyway XD |
Oddly enough I get the feeling of Deja Vu once in a while, but if what you just described really happened? I would definitely do things a lot differently. Lets see I would be exactly 12 years old. This time around I would get things done for myself instead wait and expect others to get things done. What I'm saying is that my family didn't get things done for me so I'll make sure this time that I'm in control. Save money, read more, be more involve with sports, just really learn how to help myself and make it a permanent habit!
|
Hmmmm. Well young teen years were pretty fun. No priorities, pretty much doing whatever.
Then I'd start 3 websites called youtube, myspace and facebook and make a lot of money. |
I would try to fix the situation and get back to real time.
Would you have to live it as you had or could you change things? I'd like to say I'd change things but because of all the bad stuff, good things happened that I will never forget. |
well i'd try not making the same mistakes, take the oportunities that i rejected, reject or handle in a different way problems that i had. be a better person, son, student, worker, lover, boyfriend, etc, etc, etc
|
I would not have dumped my girlfriend for a cuter girl because the one I had was the best I ever had
|
If I was sent back to 1998...
1) Hit more books, less mindless internet surfing and/or chatting 2) Work less. I really did not need the money I had. 3) Apply/take the SATs/ACTs more frequently for better results. 4) More community work / anything that would have won more scholarships. There's real no big thrill in being 16 again but I'd sure like to re-do the period of 6-8 years ago. :( |
Well, that would be just plain awesome! :)
Even though I hate to regret what I have done in the past, it is true that I want to correct some of my mistakes that were not necessary in my life. ;) |

I'll be glad for all the knowledge of these 10 free year... feel like a big F6 :P Mouhahaha no need to got back to school I'm a young genius !!! |
I'd bail home, join a circus and travel the world, fall in love, learn new languages, get my heart broken, buy expensive things, make pretty paintings, learn how to play a guitar, learn how to do a perfect backflip, learn how to make a slingshot all over again, get in fights, get in fights, get drunk and high, get broken, get lost, get somewhere far away, and finally fall in love and die happy.
(Why would I regret doing anything as a teenager?) |
