World of Warcraft GFF Community Guild - Aperture Science

This thread is to further make aware that some of the Gamingforce community are starting a guild for Gamingforce folks. The reason is that while we realize a lot of folks on GFF play World of Warcraft, the community is split up across many different servers. This is our effort to get a large group of Gamingforce members onto one server, one guild, to have fun, and of course PWNING NUBS!

I know you probably have characters on other servers, but this is a chance to get everyone together to play on one server. I myself have a 70 and a 60 on two separate servers, but I'm starting again for the chance to play with forum members. Even if you don't plan on playing all the time, stop by, say hi, play a while.

(We wish to keep this thread separate from the other WoW thread as it has gotten too large. This thread is for GFF guild discussion while the other thread is for WoW game discussion.)

This is a great idea. I've been wondering which PvP server to join since I have access to a retail account now, but haven't found a group of people I'd like to play with. Until now. Awesome.

JasonTerminator Dec 2, 2007 08:41 PM

Isn't Dark Iron the server with Penny Arcade on it as Alliance?

I may have rolled an alliance noob on there a year ago or so, but I'll prolly delete him to get in on this.

Benjamin please Dec 2, 2007 09:12 PM

Horde actually has decent progression on Dark Iron, meaning, of course, that the server is nowhere near dead.
AH prices are extremely awesome if you're starting out and plan on selling everything.
I started out two days ago and already have 40g, (And am also level 20) by just selling what I've picked up (meaning I haven't even sold profession stuff).

Can you advise what class they play so those of us wanting to be useful while participating can get a chance at doing something different / interesting??

Of course it's not dead, it's the PVP/Penny Arcade server. Are you guys nuts?

Benjamin please Dec 3, 2007 12:06 PM

APERTURE SCIENCE.
Also
In-game persons to contact for invite:
Kurado (Aerisdies, Phantoma, Philosoma) (Main: Mage)
Benjamin (Hefty, Malebox) (Main: Shaman)
SuperNova (Reynova, Altanova) (Main: Holy Pally)
Devoxycontin (Devoxy) (Main: Hunter)
Zeal (Zmode) (Main: Prot Pally)
JT (lol i forgot) (Main: Druid)

It would really help if someone made a warrior, but anything is fine right now.

Grail Dec 3, 2007 12:27 PM

Well, I've gotten EXTREMELY bored with my 70 hunter on Ursin, so I'll roll with the punches and make a warrior...haven't had one in a long time.

The name is KawBehl

I will keep a guild roster in the top post so everyone knows. Perhaps I'll try to keep up with levels, but I got a feeling as it goes on and more people join, it'll get a little ambitious to keep up.

rpgcrazied Dec 3, 2007 06:58 PM

this sounds cool.. but i have so many toons, i dont think id lvl him up fast or anything. :P

Jujubee Dec 3, 2007 09:03 PM

Damn, why'd you guys have to pick horde? I would have transfered my Alliance characters over to join the guild. Oh well, I made a Blood Elf Priest named Aigis, I'll be sending someone a tell soon.

coeccias Dec 4, 2007 12:46 AM

Having just built a new computer, I'm considering reactivating my account. I am sure Moonfire spam is as fun as it used to be.

Benjamin please Dec 4, 2007 01:05 AM

Horde is superior due to smaller numbers.
Also, because blizzard themselves did an inventory of faction ages.
Average age of alliance is 17.
Average age of horde is 23.
Which would you pick? =p

Sonus Dec 4, 2007 01:16 AM

Aside from their unique racial abilities and passive skills, the classes available to certain races makes me hate Horde more than dying by them. I never understood where in the storyline that Taurens learned how to be Druids. Sure they live on the same continent as the Night Elves, but come on.... Is Blizzard saying that Taurens do not have enough magic potential to be mages, but just enough to be Druids?

Overpowered Tauren Restoration Druids = win.

Benjamin please Dec 4, 2007 01:39 AM

...They're one of the closest races to the Azeroth, according to LONG-time established lore.
A quick note, you obviously aren't a big enough nerd to even play WoW.
Mana user != to every other mana using class.

StarmanDX Dec 4, 2007 03:42 AM

Yeah, the Tauren were taught druidism by Cenarius long before the Night Elves knew him, perhaps even before Night Elf civilization. :nerd:

Anyways, I've been thinking about playing again. If and when I do, I'll at least make a character on Dark Iron, if not transfer my lvl 70 "Overpowered Tauren Restoration Druid" over. Nothing left for me on the server he's on, anyways.

Benjamin please Dec 4, 2007 04:43 AM

Someone reads wowwiki. :D
TAURENS WERE TAUGHT BY MALORNE AND ELUNE'S LOVE CHILD.

LS Dec 4, 2007 05:13 AM

And on that note, Tauren warriors = amazing.

I'm so intrigued on joining your guild, if only kostaki and dagget would transfer that would have been fun, aye?

Benjamin please Dec 4, 2007 12:43 PM

That would actually be very fun. I prefer the whole "more than two people on at once" type of socializing in wow :P

BucPride Dec 4, 2007 01:40 PM

Hmm, this idea intrigues me. I think I'll jump in after the servers come back on in about a half-hour.

Maybe I'll be with some competent players this time around, yes?

I'll be on as "Hefty" (or "Malebox") until exactly 2:30 EST. If you want invites early today, then it'd be best to get them in that half hour window. =p

Jujubee Dec 4, 2007 08:01 PM

Hey uhh, I was invited into the guild yesterday, then when I log in today I'm not in it anymore. What gives, did you guys break it? Zero search results for 'Aperture Science' now.

Benjamin please Dec 4, 2007 08:34 PM

Someone might have kicked you because someone forgot to promote you. Everyone that signed the charter is a "member" and is generally a stranger, so we kick them. Remember to ask the person that invited you for a promotion if they can, or send a mail to Hefty, Reynova, or Aerisdies in game if we're not online.

A zero-search on a /who means nobody with that specification in any given field is online. It means no guildies were online is all, which is pretty typical of late afternoons. :)

Yggdrasil Dec 4, 2007 08:42 PM

Hmmm... neat I'll drop by sometime and maybe establish an alt seeing as how its pretty easy to level now. Interestingly enough the Dark Iron is in the same BG group as the server I'm on, Kellogs errr... Kalecgos.

I had Aaron kick you because of the shit you were spewing in general chat yesterday. Be casual, but don't be an racist asshat. I even warned you to tone it back a bit in gchat and you ignored it. In a guild less than 30 minutes and already causing general chat arguments across the server -- we don't need that associated with us.

You're on Kalecgos? Me too! I'm alliance though, unfortunately..

Uhh, yeah, if you thought that whole situation was about racism then you're no smarter than the douche bags offended by it. One guy said 'NAGGER' which means a person who nags, whines, bitches, complains etc. Notice theres no I in there but two people decided to start sending tells calling us racist. For once I thought I'd have some fun on the other side of the spectrum, and mind you it was lots of fun. It had nothing to do with racism, just teasing a couple of idiots. And I sure didn't hear you say anything to me on guild chat once I joined. My UI notifies me everytime my name is said, so you must not have been talking to me directly. If you're going to be that snobbish and order some peon to kick me over a situation you weren't fully aware of then good riddance. I can see if I was doing it in guild chat then that would warrant a ban, but no you had to jump to conclusions over something you weren't involved in. Have fun playing god.

Actually I was fully aware, I saw the whole thing. It was a joke to you. We're a new guild and we don't need the likes of you running around with our guild tag over your head making the rest of us look like douchebags. So the feeling is mutual. Good riddance.

Jujubee Dec 5, 2007 08:46 AM

I understand you wanted to defend your guilds image. Had someone sent me a tell asking me to stop I would have, because I usually don't act that way. It would have been more prudent than booting me without warning and flaming me on the forums when I asked what happened. Is that how you're going to handle all your members who slip up? Prejudge him to be guilty until proven innocent, what an excellent way to represent GFF on WoW. Some moron sending me a tell calling me a racist for something someone else said deserved to have his ass ridiculed. Rather than watching and waiting until it was over and I logged off to boot me you guys could have told me something in-game. Yet someone went on a power trip and wanted to try out their new kick button. Congratulations, it works, have fun using it. The amount of fun I had was well worth it, probably the most I would have had while in such a guild. Oh yeah I didn't really plan on leveling that toon past 10 anyway, I got enough alts already. Adieu and Good Luck. :)

Benjamin please Dec 5, 2007 09:15 AM

Dude. You're seriously overanalyzing this.
There's no thirst for power. And thanks for providing us with our first record of drama. Great sign.

SuperNova Dec 6, 2007 03:58 PM

Just as a note, if I'm not on until next weekend, that's due to finals. Just an FYI.

Ayos Dec 12, 2007 05:30 AM

Once I see one of you guys on, I'll ask for an invite. I'm building up Lach, a Tauren Warrior - spent about half an hour on him tonight, got to level 5. Figure it'd be good to have another warrior in the guild.

Only that I wouldn't be able to transfer from a PvE to a PVP realm. Also, I don't care for PVP. I don't like being corpsed camped for hours on end like I was when I rolled on Laughing Skull. :| I might roll a character on Dark Iron when I reactivate.

LS Dec 12, 2007 09:18 AM

Well I moved back to thunderhorn, am part of your guild now with kostaki, rolled a BE hunter.

Currently level 20, aiming to 50-60 before january 3.

dagget Dec 12, 2007 09:55 AM

I don't know when I'll reactivate. I'm toying with the idea of doing it for about a month while I'm still back and forth between houses, but then will have to wait after I can get internet installed in the new place. :|

I hope any huge drama bombs haven't hit the guild while I've been gone.

dagget Dec 12, 2007 10:16 PM

lol not your guild, mine on thunderhorn. :P

i h8 cuz i <3

Did a little top post editing. Also added a Armory Page link to Aperture Science.

Does anyone think we should open recruiting to others? Seems like only 4 people max on at one time.

Yea we definately need to. It gets too quiet at times. I invited a friend of mine to join the guild last night. I would like to avoid spamming org and the barrens if possible, but we do need some more people around.

Guru Dec 26, 2007 08:35 PM

I decided I think someone needs to make me an officer in this guild since I'm online more than like, everyone except for Ronz.

Guru Dec 28, 2007 10:38 PM

I decided that you assholes who got me to reactivate my WoW account to play with you all suck because I'm the only one that's ever online. PISH!

StarmanDX Dec 29, 2007 05:32 AM

Technically, those of us who are higher than level 22 have been online more than you, just not recently or at the same time. I've just been feeling burned out the past week or two, hopefully it will pass.

I think we pretty much need to be doing this, though. Accept just about anyone now and sort 'em out later. I'd do it with my 70 if he had permission, since I've got a lot of downtime with him in cities anyways.

Oh, and perhaps we could use the rank "Sentry Turret" above or below Companion Cube, and push Test Subject down to Initiate?

Guru Dec 29, 2007 12:47 PM

I wasn't talking to you DX. You're the only person I see online, with Ronz in there a little bit too. ;)

Also, your level 70 was a reroll for Aperture Science? That's some pretty fast leveling!

StarmanDX Dec 29, 2007 03:28 PM

Well I obviously wasn't talking about him.

Guru Dec 29, 2007 09:54 PM

So it'd be pretty sweet to do some Shadowfang on Sunday. Anyone up for it? :)

coeccias Jan 1, 2008 04:25 PM

I have been contemplating transferring a hunter to Dark Iron. The character is actually the first one I created but is on a server that my friends have left.

Guru Jan 2, 2008 01:34 AM

You could if you want to~ we're just playing for fun, really...and if leveling isn't fun for you then that'd probably be pretty smart ^^

coeccias Jan 2, 2008 01:55 AM

I have experienced a druid from level 1 to 70, but created another on Dark Iron because I enjoy playing the class. The hunter I am referring to is level 43, which is the highest of any hunter that I've played. I think playing a hunter now would be more enjoyable now that I know more about the game (although I'm not aware of all the changes made to the class since last I played, so I can't say that with any certainty).

Not that I don't believe you, but where did you get that statistic? I'd be curious to see it if you have a link.

...It would explain a lot if it were true.

StarmanDX Jan 15, 2008 08:49 PM

For supposedly being older on average, we sure play battlegrounds like retards. =/ (At least on our battlegroup).

So, uh, anything going to happen with the guild, aside from crumble? All the randoms who were active have left, and the few GFF players that had time during the holidays don't so much any more. Not that I expected anything more than some casual play on weekends, but is even that too hard for most people?

Anyways, I'd still be willing to recruit if someone would give my 70 permission.

samari Feb 16, 2008 06:22 AM

Hmm, I'm tempted to roll on this server if you guys are still semi-active. Can't really guarantee that I'd play a whole lot though, seeing as I have my 70 main on another server with RL friends. Any certain classes that you folks need?

StarmanDX Feb 16, 2008 12:14 PM

Already dead, don't bother.

Shorty Feb 16, 2008 06:38 PM

Well I rolled a BE paladin on Dark Iron just for the hell of it anyways and to get away from the over populated stupid populous of my main's server. I'm having quite a bit of fun leveling the wee little thing, so I think I'll continue on with it. :)

Name's Cherrygarcia; if anyone from Aperature Science spots me please send invite. <3

StarmanDX Feb 18, 2008 05:47 PM

Yeah, I had hoped interest in this would last at least a few months, but by the time I joined in mid-December it was already almost gone. We could still make something of this if those who still play all went and joined another guild - I know Ronz is looking for one.

Personally I've gotten sick of grinding a broken pvp system for purples that will be invalidated by the first greens in Wrath of the Lich King, so I ended up cancelling my subscription. I have no reason to leave Dark Iron and I'll end up playing again someday, but maybe not until WotLK comes out.

samari Feb 18, 2008 07:31 PM

I am totally there with you and the broken pvp system. Being crowd controlled continually by a druid on my warrior while doing arenas this week (cyclonex3, rootx1, repeat) and not being able to do anything about it almsot put me over the edge this morning.

Well, I'm still interested if you guys are. I don't mind rolling a toon on here if theres more than you and I that would be playing, Starman. Any other people still around/still interested?

Guru Feb 20, 2008 07:28 PM

LOL Sam! You could come play with me on Laughing Skull. :) Alliance side, though. I've got a nice large guild with fun people, and Masanda and nwzinc are also on the server (though not in my guild).

Xelium Highguard or something like that? :P I was a member on my first character rolled, Alania. But I got sucked in playing on Thunderhorn that I neglected her and ended up getting removed. :(

I'm trying to do a DPS spec for my warrior for PVE/PVP type stuff. I'm afraid to go to the warrior forums, because I know that they'll show no mercy when it comes to people not speccing how THEY spec. (or lol DPS warrior) I went this way, and I know it's a huge mess. :|

Yep that's it! Heh, feels like such a long time ago. You win the bonus round! :)

samari Feb 24, 2008 12:50 AM

I'll probably make a huntard or something super easy to level with, because I'm leveling a pally on my main's server and its quite mind-numbing. I'll be sure to hit you up when I see you online, Guru =)

And dagget, are you planning on PvPing or PvEing with your warrior more? If you plan to do both, then you'll need a 2h mortal strike spec, which can do decent damage (with a decent weapon). My warrior currently is using this build and does just fine in both environments. Otherwise, dual wield fury is the way to go, something along the lines of this would work.

dagget Feb 24, 2008 03:08 PM

Well I used to be Arms/Fury when I started the game, then I went tank for just about 2 years. I'm actually not doing too bad with what I have now, I'm getting praised for my BG tactics. Hell I was tanking Van with nothing in Protection the last AV I did and people were shocked how well I could hold aggro on him and not being Prot.

Shame horde usually play like retards now in AV. :| Getting yelled at for stopping and trying to take SH really blows.

Shorty Mar 5, 2008 06:09 PM

dagget,

Wasn't Arms/Fury the ONLY way to tank in a 5-15man back in the day? I remember we had one prot warrior as dead weight in UBRS simply because we couldn't fill up the group. I forget what the mechanic was, but I seem to remember that I'd pull aggro off of a prot warrior pretty easily being a mage, but the arms/fury warrior can keep spanking shit forever so long as he had heals. The only thing good about the prot warrior was that the healer didn't have to strain so much to keep 'em alive because he wouldn't take much hits.

Correct me if I remember wrong. ;)

The_Griffin Mar 5, 2008 06:42 PM

For PVE, you want dual wield fury, with around 90-ish hit rating and this spec:

Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

The reason there's only one point in Improved Whirlwind is that it lets you set up a nice attack rotation where Bloodthirst and Whirlwind are always able to be used the moment they're off their cooldowns (in an ideal situation), and putting 2/2 or 0/2 messes that up.

For PVP, it's definitely MS or bust. :p

The thing is, though, that there are a lot of different PVP specs. There's 33/28/0, 33/25/0, 41/20/0 (at least in the next patch), 31/X/21, etc., etc.

All of 'em have one thing in common, though. You NEED Mortal Strike, you NEED a good 2-hander, preferably a mace, and you NEED Second Wind. Blood Frenzy is actually more of a PVE talent. Get a warrior with 33/28/0 Blood Frenzy in a melee group with an enhancement shaman dropping Windfury, and it can be a beautiful thing.

Srsly though, try something new out. There's a shaman who's running 29/32/0 as a hybrid Elemental/Enhancement offhanding the Maelstrom's Fury (the only one-hand caster weapon in the game at the moment, unfortunately fixed in 2.4 and replaced with a blue mace with less +damage from revered rep) and stacking melee buffs, and she can hit around 2,500 +damage and 8.5K CL crits (granted, in the clip she showed that, she was running with 'serking in a BG and crit a pet, but she ALSO had almost no buffs up).

And it's all thanks to Mental Quickness giving 30% of your AP as +damage. She is a burst MACHINE. 2K burst in melee (from DAGGERS), and that burst also gives a 20% nature debuff. It's insane.

Wow, what battlegroup do you play in? I'm on shadowburn and Alliance literally just rolls over and plays dead until the Horde come and actually kill us. AV weekends are just a complete waste of time as my BG's alliance simply forgot how to play.

dagget Mar 17, 2008 07:18 AM

I play on Vindication Battlegroup. Horde usually completely owns EotS and AB on that one. We used to win in AV right after 2.0 patch came out, but after 2.3.. horde had been losing like crazy. It doesn't help either we get fucktards from Gorefiend that like to shout at people not doing what their realm says.

I don't like the way AV is set up anyway, alliance have a straight shot at Drek. They can get to him and the game is over in like 5-10 minutes. The only chokepoint for alliance is Iceblood but even then, they just bypass all that and pop the relief station within 3 minutes of the game. Horde have that HORRRIBLE bottleneck at Stormpike because the only way to the keep is cross that bridge....
