This show is fairly interesting. The fact that there is a decent amount of profanity actually helps, it certainly makes it more realistic. I mean, I'm watching Prison Break and I go, damn these people can't be this proper to each other in real life. Now if only "fuck" could be used regularly, that would take it all the way. I guess people aren't ready for "fuck" on basic cable, they can only put up with "shit" and "dick". Give it a few more years, I guess.
Anyway, this past episode's development was interesting, even though I haven't been following the plot carefully. |
Isn't this a little late? I mean, the season finale already aired, and the next season probably isn't gonna start until January.
Anyway, yeah, this show is freaking great. Definitely in my top five of all time. It's just so gritty, in both its action and its dialogue. This is probably the only show on TV that has made me flinch because of its level of violence. Even at it's worst, this show is better than almost anything else on TV. This last season was definitely great. The addition of Forest Whitaker as Kavanaugh was more than just stunt casting, as he added a lot of depth to the show. And the way the season ended, it's just too great for words. I can't wait for it to come back! |
I just think it would kind of suck to have a 3 man strike team, face it you can't replace Lemansky, he was the one that kept the team honest, but at the same time would go along with whatever they did.
What I don't get is Spoiler:
The show is still definately great, although in series 4-5 theres something missing that was in the first 3 series that made the show epic. Personally I didn't like the Atwon Mitchell storyline. I think its shifted more to them trying to cover there asses rather than busting some skulls and bringing in the big perps, which I think is a shame because I love their style of brutal policing. |

When they did that fake deal with the Russians to show up Kavanaugh, really brought back the charm of the previous series. The one thing that makes it so good in my opinion is that, yes they are a brutal team of cops but at the same time are very swift and intelligent in keeping a step ahead.
|
I really need to download this show. I was watching it a few years ago, but then it was mysteriously removed from the air. I loved it though. Gritty, bad ass corrupt cop show. It rocks.

Just finished season 5. Unfuckingbelievable. Easily the best season yet. Best writing on any show ever (besides season 1-3 of 24). Oh and Whitaker was damn awesome.
Spoiler:
|
Man, now that 24 is MIA, I can't wait for The Shield to start back up again. It sucks that it'll be the last season, but I need something to give me an action/drama fix that can rival 24.
|
I love how they saved Vic at the end of season 6 with the mysterious box in the trunk, although it was anti-climatic it means season 7 will be war because of what he and Aceveda found in there.
The question remains will Vic a) go unpunished b) ass in jail c) Die I mean they have to end it somehow. Seems like Aceveda is probably gonna get it too. |
One of the best shows ever, anyone who says otherwise has serious problems, is returning in nearly two weeks now (sept 2nd). Similar to 24 it has had a hugggggge break due to the writers strike. With the LAST season all hell could break loose. Who knows what the hell may happen with the continuity of the six prior seasons so prevalent. I have never watched a show so intricately thought out where each episode since the beginning has had an impact on the following episodes and seasons.
Oh and season 6 dvd coming out Aug 26th if you missed it. |
I'm waiting for one of those best buy sales to pick the show up on dvd but I agree, definitely one of the better shows out right now.

But anyway, definitely can't wait for this show to start (or should I be saying end?). Aside from 24, this is definitely the best show on TV right now, and I expect nothing but epic awesomeness to come from this final season. |
The premiere fucking kicked ass. Sick just sick. That is how it is done prison break. 0_-
|
Haha, seriously. Never took my eyes off the screen for a second.
The only part I didn't like was that federal agent that came in. Her character seemed kind of generic and pointless, especially compared to someone like Kavanaugh. I suppose she could get better, but I just don't see the point of introducing yet another character in that vein so close to the end of the show. |
Yeah, I noticed her, but don't know what to think as of yet. I really hope they can somehow bring back Kavenaugh or Antwone if story and time allows for it. However, I doubt the former. At least bring back Diro.
Spoiler:
Great acting by the strike team. I really hope Chiklis gets an actor nomination and maybe even goggins for supporting actor for the globes or emmys when it is all said and done. Goggins deserves it for his performance over the course of the series. Oh and loled when Julien wasn't leaving so Vic and Ronnie could talk privately. |

As for someone who is coming back (spoilered since it could be considered a spoiler, though I don't know in what capacity the character is coming back in or anything (I only know they're coming back to begin with because someone mentioned it in an interview)): Spoiler:

The fact that Walton Goggins hasn't been nominated for anything thus far is a an absolute joke. He is one of the best actors on TV if you ask me.
Last night was fantastic. Gonna be an interesting season! |
Every episode great so far like usual. 1st and 3rd being the best eps. Love how stupid Rezian is. And what a display by Vic and Shane bullshitting each other at the end of the third.
I didn't like how they downplayed Mara with the package Shane wrote on the Strike team. It could come up in later eps, but I would think Mara finding out about everything else besides the money train and Lem would be pretty big. It was assumed she read it, since it was open right? |
I seriously thought the last episode was one of the best ever. Fucking intense throughout.

I didn't get to watch the last two episodes, but the last one that was on was pretty awesome.

5 episodes to go too... Last night would have served perfectly fine as a second-to-last episode, but jeez man, they still have a lot of ground to cover. |
I agree. Definitely the best episode so far this season, and definitely in the top 5 for the whole series. Hell, I'd say that just on the strength of the last five minutes alone, but the whole episode was was pretty fucking awesome. I hadn't been following how many epsides were left, so I'm surprised to hear there are so many left (in relation to where they are in the story), but that just means more time for rogue Mackey to be awesome.
|
Yeah the show just keeps getting better as we are coming to an end.
Spoiler:
|
Fuck yes last night's episode was so awesome. As far as drama goes, this was probably the best episode in the entire series. I mean, the show has always done a great job mixing action and drama, but the drama in particular in this episode was just so amazing, especially finally getting to hear Vic say all the dirty things he's done to someone who's not on the Strike Team.
|
Last night was not only the best episode of the series but one of the best hours of television, ever.
The best part is, there's still no clear set-up for next week, but I have my ideas... Spoiler:

I like how 99.0% of people with TV aren't watching the show that is clearly the top or in the top 3 best shows ever. You can put it past most cinema features too, it has been done so well. How about that (vic laughing) "I was just too good" line, referring to acaveda, the barn, and Kavenaugh. Good stuff. Spoiler:
And Billings will NEVER ever get the barn again after the stunt he pulled. I am going to be so sad when its all over. |
I have high hopes for the finale after this week's episode. I just hope it doesn't end like The Wire did, where they wrapped up everything all in the last episode in a rush, which made it feel very unauthentic compared the super-realistic feel of every other episode in the series. But The Shield is been winding down for several episodes, so all long as they don't pack too much in, I think it will be great. But I'm very sad to see it go, it has been one of the best shows on tv for years.
|
The Shield is an amazing show. Last week was so great. I definitely agree it was one of the best hours of TV I've ever seen. Great action, great tension, great everything.
|
TODAY IS THE DAY BITCHES!
|
Incredible finale. One of the best ever for sure. The best thing about it was that they didn't try to go over the top just to get it talked about. They ended it perfectly and suitably for each individual character. There were definitely some hard to watch moments emotionally in the finale for all characters.
Great end to a great series. |
