Post your academic major ITT

Hey guys if you're in college post your major because it'd be interesting to see what GFFers study and all.

Sociology here.

Alai Nov 25, 2007 06:46 PM

Studying Electrical and Computer Engineering. I'm also minoring in Astronomy.

I'll graduate this May.

Also, what does ITT stand for?

Radez Nov 25, 2007 06:47 PM

Why only people who are currently in college? I got a degree too you know. =(

It was Math with a minor in French and Religion.

Temari Nov 25, 2007 06:50 PM

English (Literature) and Writing. :)

Chaotic Nov 25, 2007 07:03 PM

Psychology in to Pre-PT. Thinking about changing my major to Communication though.

Crash "Long-Winded Wrong Answer" Landon Nov 25, 2007 07:44 PM

I majored in electives.

I had a 4.0 in Lunch.

i am good at jokes Nov 25, 2007 07:55 PM

I'm a musical composition major. I'm studying in a classical program but I nonetheless have access to a few jazz classes.

Grilled Carrots Nov 25, 2007 08:00 PM

Computer stuff degree, currently working in some certifications. ('Cause 564813 years work experience < fancy papers)

Lizardcommando Nov 25, 2007 08:00 PM

I'm going to be majoring in Art, more specifically in animation/illustration.

Wall Feces Nov 25, 2007 08:00 PM

Got my degree in film production. +1 post count achieved.

Paper Crane Nov 25, 2007 08:56 PM

I'm majoring in Mass Communications. We talk about how Facebook and Myspace are media devils. Good times.

No. Hard Pass. Nov 25, 2007 09:05 PM

Honours Degree in Socio-Cultural anthropology, with special attention paid to concepts of Personhood and political approaches. A lot of work with things like sexuality, sub-cultures and tattoing. Currently doing my joint masters-phD. Specific region attention paid to East Asia, as I'm mostly based out of Japan. Some physical work, but mostly limited to digging in the dirt in Polynesia and South America.

Dual major in film production, specializing in Cinematography/Director of Photography and writing.

Minors in History (East Asian), and biology (evolutionary, vertebrate).

I also have the required credits for theatre, but you can only declare so many majors/minors when you graduate.

Ballpark Frank Nov 25, 2007 09:06 PM

I'm majoring in Golden Age Pornography. Contrary to popular belief, Ron Jeremy is not a member of my studies. He is, however, a personal hero. I think I'm going to go on and try for a Masters in Muff Divers Of The 60's.

The courses may stink, but I hear the climatic ending is worth it.

Rydia Nov 25, 2007 09:27 PM

I'm working on a major in nursing with a minor in biology. The minor is only something I'm considering since I'm only a few classes away from completing it, and also because the nursing major itself doesn't give much time to take extra classes during the semester.

AlleyDog Nov 25, 2007 09:44 PM

I have a B.A. in English, but I hated every class for the major. Then I got an M.A. in Media Communications, and that was much more fun since I spent my time writing about games instead of contemplating the meaning of silly things.

Arainach Nov 25, 2007 09:53 PM

Honors B.S. in Computer Science with a minor in Criminal Justice. If my Senior Year goes like the first 3 have been, should be Summa Cum Laude as well.

orion_mk3 Nov 25, 2007 10:12 PM

I was an English (literature) major and history minor as an undergraduate, and went on to earn an MA in English. I used that to teach writing at the college level for two years.

Now I'm working on my second MA in information science. This new degree does make that first MA kind of unneccessary, but it was free, so I'm not complaining.

No. Hard Pass. Nov 25, 2007 10:23 PM

Yeah, honour BA in anthro, BA in film.

5 years, total. I had certain IB courses going in that hooked me up with college credit. Much of a highschool fuck up as I was, I had a few choice bits that let me skip ahead.

Dullenplain Nov 25, 2007 10:32 PM

A Bachelors of Science in Geological Sciences.

And yet I started out declaring Economics.

The Wise Vivi Nov 25, 2007 10:42 PM

I have a degree in History and a Minor in Geography, and currently doing a second degree in Native Studies and minor in English, which I will have in May.

Summonmaster Nov 25, 2007 10:43 PM

Currently aiming towards a degree in Commerce, with a specialization in Human Resources. (Changed mindset from accounting)

Also aiming for a minor in Japanese, and possibly a second degree in Music should time ever permit.

Immortal Nov 25, 2007 11:06 PM

Major: Management Information Systems
minor: Computer Science

And I am taking my good sweet time with it for basketball tickets (really because I hate having more than 13-15 units a semester).

Gechmir Nov 25, 2007 11:09 PM

Got my degree in Geophysics, as well as three minors: Math, Geology, & GIS/Geoinformatics.

Just so I could shoot guns in to the ground and set off explosions. All in the name of science <3

Cellius Nov 26, 2007 02:27 AM

I've got a BA in Multimedia Production; currently pounding away at an MFA in filmscoring. I love my program and career path so far. When I graduate with my Masters I hope I can afford one of those deluxe cardboard boxes. They sound like nice places to live in.

Hellscythe Nov 26, 2007 02:32 AM

Majoring in Arts-Film/TV animation emphasis, minoring in computer programming. Too bad I won't graduate in time to work on Madagascar 3 :(.

Jesus Christ. What don't you do?

I thought about becoming a theater major. While I think acting is one of the most exciting experiences I've uncovered, it's a very hard life and difficult to make ends meet at times when work is slow. I know this because my aunt and uncle have been in the business of the theatre for many years and they are very happy with their experiences but it's sometimes difficult for them to make do monetarily.

I can't do theater. I need something a bit more real as far money goes. So what am I doing? I am going into film scoring and music composition; one of the most competitive fields around. (I ain't so smart sometimes) Ah well, I have to do what I love.

Minor in liberal arts/(music therapy)

Major in (film scoring)/(Song-writing)

Most of these are tentative as I don't have the funds to go to my dream music school to finish up my studies at BERKLEE SCHOOL OF MUSIC. I visited once already, saw some friends up in Boston, took a tour of the campus and the city and I must say it's convinced me. THAT BE IT.

DAMN YOU INSUFFICIENT FUNDS!

Traumatized Rat Nov 26, 2007 02:56 AM

I feel kind of like that Deni character.

I have an advanced Bachelors ( 4 year program) with a major in Psychology and a minor in Microbiology. I took a bunch of different electives as well, so it was a fairly well rounded first degree.
I am currently finishing my four year Bachelors in Music majoring in Composition and minoring in Cello. I am also currently working on my masters applications and looking to leave the province, finances permitting.

Paco Nov 26, 2007 03:06 AM

I only have an Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies. It is also known as the MOST USELESS DEGREE EVER CREATED.

INDEED it is. However, it's a little known fact that everyone with liberal arts degrees have rhinocerous penises and get all the chicks.

Traveller87 Nov 26, 2007 05:44 AM

Currently in my second year of a BSc. Psychology with Honours. Did some literature, sociology and Spanish as well, and will dearly miss English Lit., because it was great.

Planning to go on to a Master's in either Counselling, or Child Psychology afterwards, if possible (and I can finance it). Preferably some sort of combination.

Bradylama Nov 26, 2007 05:45 AM

Major: Secondary Education
Minor: History

RacinReaver Nov 26, 2007 06:16 AM

I got a BS in Materials Science & Engineering with a minor in Physics and I'm currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program for Materials Science (Sadly my school doesn't tack on the Engineering title to our department. May or may not pick up a MS in Applied Physics along the way, it depends on which faculty I want to have on my candidacy exam. From how it's looking now, I'll probably get my MS in Materials Science).

Ozma Nov 26, 2007 07:14 AM

First year of medical studies.

Wished I could take up math too, but nobody in my family agrees to it.

RABicle Nov 26, 2007 07:25 AM

Major: Primary/Elementary Education
Minor 1: Environmental Science
Minor 2: Started Web Development but totally failed, might pickup something else, something not a science.

Wait what the fuck man? You're family doesn't agree? FUCK THEM. It's your life. You're 18, they aren't in charge of you anymore. My Mum is a doctor because it was just expected of her to study medicine and guess what? She hates it. If you want to study maths, to hell with your parents, yous tudy that. I mean it's maths, it's not like you've told your parents you want to be a prostitute or study Creation Science or something. Mathematics is a universally respected field and they should be proud.

Bigblah Nov 26, 2007 08:40 AM

Got my bachelors in Computer Engineering (actually just Electrical Engineering with some computing modules).

Going for a masters in Electrical Engineering next year. Also considering CCNA recertification.

brknredcrayon Nov 26, 2007 08:51 AM

BBA in Accounting & Information Systems

Will hopefully pursue a MBA after a few years of slavery in the auditing field :\

Adara Nov 26, 2007 09:16 AM

I'm going for a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and am hoping to go to medical school after that. I'm not sure which field of medicine I would like to go into yet, but I still have plenty of time and experience to live through to help me decide on that.

Helloween Nov 26, 2007 10:06 AM

Currently working on my first degree with a major in English literature and writing, and a (possibly double) minor in Music and or Political Studies. After that i'm not sure where i'll go. I might try for film studies again, but my parents suggested i try getting an education degree. I'm seriously considering it, but it's not likely.

musicman1za Nov 26, 2007 11:04 AM

BSc double majoring in Computer Science and Information Systems.

kat Nov 26, 2007 11:51 AM

Studying Elementary Education with an emphasis on Chinese with an intent on focusing on bilingual language education.

The_Melomane Nov 26, 2007 12:11 PM

I'm majoring in International Studies(A mixture of Foreign Policy and International Affairs) with a minor in political science. Part of the requirements is that I learn like three languages, so when I transfer to the Uni it should be interesting. I plan on joining PeaceCorps for two years after I get my first degree and then going back for my masters afterwards.

Dubble Nov 26, 2007 12:46 PM

Computer Art with a concentration in 3D Animation and Cartooning

Going for my masters currently. After December i will have a year and a half to go. :)

nazpyro Nov 27, 2007 11:23 AM

I got my BS in Computer Engineering last year, which is pretty much Electrical Engineering + Computer Science. Included in there is a citation (minor) in Discrete Math just for shits and giggles, since I took electives in that area.

In my future is a master's degree in electrical/computer engineering, but I might also go for an MBA at some point too.

Cetra Nov 27, 2007 08:58 PM

I earned a Bachelors in Information Technology and I will also hold an MBA in just 2 more long weeks.

As for me, History today, Library / Information Sciences tomorrow!

Angel of Light Nov 27, 2007 09:05 PM

I have a Bachelor Of Arts in Environmental Studies (Environmental Perspectives) with a minor in Geography.

Wanzer Radio Nov 28, 2007 02:43 AM

Video Game Art & Design. I may change to Music. It's a dream of mine to become a professional Jazz musician. I would die a happy man. The Musician's Institute has been calling my name.

Chiribo Nov 28, 2007 04:11 AM

I started studying for a BA in Philosophy and Economics, to then in my 2nd year drop Economics and do straight Philosophy.

Now, a little further down the line, I'm still studying Philosophy, on a part time basis now though, as I'm working full time. However as more time passes, the more I question the "need" of a degree to get a shitty job. I currently have a decent job with a rather decent pay for someone my age, and so far, no degree to my name with very real career prospects in the field I was aiming for before I started university.

Syndrome Nov 28, 2007 03:50 PM

I'm in my first year of Computer Science, which basically means lots of math and programming. I'm liking it so far, but it gets really hard at times. Also, my addiction of the internets and video games takes it toll.

Wojo Nov 28, 2007 03:53 PM

A.S.T. in Computer Networking Systems from a bullshit two year tech school that was too expensive.

In January I'll be attending a University for a BS in Computer Information Systems with a concentration in Security.

Clamjouster Nov 28, 2007 04:28 PM

Electrical Engineering focusing on high voltage systems. To avoid making this a one line post I guess I will shortly describe what it is about since from what I've known, mostly chatting with American students on the same branch, I don't study small circuits or electronics I more of so work with transmission lines and generation issues.

Lacerta Nov 28, 2007 04:37 PM

Accounting. I haven't really picked a specific area to specialize in but it sure as hell is not going to be Payroll.

In a few months the IRS is going to kidnap me and train me in the art of taxes.

I also intend to get a MBA and CPA.

UltimaIchijouji Nov 29, 2007 04:00 AM

Design. Specifically Communication Design, but I'll probably end up taking some Industrial Design classes. Not sure of my minor or double major yet though.

Mersenne Nov 29, 2007 07:54 AM

Completed BEng (Control Systems) BCommerce (Law) DipMus (Piano).

If all goes to plan, an Army Lt by Feb next year.

Lol sounds like you're studying Philosophy too hard then :p.

Ridan Krad Nov 30, 2007 01:25 AM

Studied political science in undergrad. Just started law school this semester and the first set of finals are right around the corner. One of the first things we were told when starting out was that while undergrad might be akin to a set of short straightaways that you can sprint your way through (i.e., all-nighters), law school is a marathon, requiring diligence from beginning to end. Looking back over this semester, it's so true.

Sounds kinda like what I wanna do. Character modelling any hard? I only took one class in maya so far and that was confusing as hell. And do you think it's gonna be hard to get a job as one?

katchum Nov 30, 2007 05:38 AM

I'm a master in chemical engineering and technology. Any other chemical engineers out there?

Crash "Long-Winded Wrong Answer" Landon Nov 30, 2007 06:36 AM

I was kind of snarky in my original post, but I'll answer this legitimately.

I've had two majors: Writing and Fine Arts (with a focus upon illustration).

Unfortunately, frequent health issues have interrupted my attempts at obtaining a degree; it's difficult to advance in writing and art unless you're physically in the class to acquire feedback. I've had to place my education on hold until I can get an organ transplant.

Once the transplant is acquired and I'm free to resume life with improved health, I plan to change gears and attend a culinary academy. I enjoy cooking and all its philosophies. It's also said that the best chefs are those who are naturally creative people. I'm currently employed as a graphic designer, so once I master enough kitchen techniques, I'm hopeful that I can combine both skills and be a successful, innovative chef.

Marina Nov 30, 2007 08:55 AM

5th year at Medicine, 1 more year I'll finish it.
I wish to be a psychiatrics. I kind like these stuff. :)

Crash, hope you'll get your donor soon and no graft reject at all. :)

eriol33 Nov 30, 2007 10:36 PM

no love for International Relations or any political studies here? That's what I study on college at the moment.

Planning to get overseas master degree for economy-related field though.
