I fucking hate winter...

Some of us are already below freezing, so piss and moan for everybody to hear.

I fucking hate Winter because the damn toilet seat is ALWAYS COLD.

DeLorean Nov 5, 2007 01:46 AM

I fucking hate cold toilet seats... but there are advantages to winter. There is nothing better than a hot shower when your freezing cold. Hot chocolate is so much better in the winter time... and dumping snow down someones pants is an experience no person should live without having.

I live in the northeast and I had to crap in an unheated public bathroom at the state park yesterday. What really sucked was that the toilet was made of fucking metal, like a jail toilet. I definitely second your notion after that horror. I do generally like the winter, but I prefer the fall, which somehow the northeast missed out on this year.

Cellius Nov 5, 2007 01:59 AM

I like winter in Chicago because it means less bums begging me for my change from Starbucks as I walk down the sidewalk sipping my Grande Americano extra whip in my long black coat, spiffy scarf, leather gloves and laptop case while pretending to be a rich successful businessman on his way to an important meeting.
I DON'T CARE WHAT IT TAKES, I WANT THOSE REPORTS BY MONDAY, JEFFERSON!

No way. Fuck you. Not only does it take twice as long for the water to warm up, but as soon as you turn it off, you are freezing again. INSTANTLY.

No way. Fuck you, I stay warm for quite some time after a hot shower.

The trick is to leave the fan off in the bathroom when you take a hot shower in the winter. If you do it right the place won't be too steamy, but it'll be nice and warm. Then slip on a warm pair of pants and a sweatshirt and you'll be happy for the rest of the day.

Also, best thing about winter: Sweatshirts straight out of the dryer before going outside.

Yggdrasil Nov 5, 2007 02:46 AM

Why the hate against winter? I love winter. Its the time of rain/snow and nice cloudy days, sunny days are overrated. Not to mention hot showers feel so much better and when you're in bed it also feels much more cozier and warm. Although it does become and issue when trying to get out of bed, as the moment you jump out and realize how unbelievably cold it is you're prone to jump back in, combined with my bad habit of falling back asleep easily this has created a number of tardy marks on my school record.

mortis Nov 5, 2007 04:34 AM

I like winter. I suppose it's because you can always put another layer of clothes on (well, okay, so maybe not ALWAYS) compared to taking clothes off when you are hot in the summer.

Actually, one of the things I miss most during winter time is snow. I haven't really seen too much snow for two, almost three years now. Seeing snow makes me think back (usually) fondly to past memories.

PiccoloNamek Nov 5, 2007 04:49 AM

Screw the summer. I love the winter. I love how cold and crisp and clean the air is, I love being able to actually see the real color of the sky. I love being able to go for a walk without breaking a sweat. I love being able to go outside without being set upon by gnats and mosquitoes. Here, in the winter, it actually rains regularly. I love how the cold weather keeps the troublemakers and miscreants inside (where they belong).

Yep... down here, winter is pretty much better all around.

Bernard Black Nov 5, 2007 05:18 AM

Winter is by far the best season. I always feel feverish in the summer, and my eyes are very sensitive to bright sunlight, not to mention that I have fair skin. I much prefer rainy or snowy days to long, hot, bright days. I'll agree that cold loo seats are a pain in the arse (pun intended).

Alice Nov 5, 2007 05:50 AM

Winter clothes are way cuter than summer clothes. Let's not forget that. And also, there's sleep. Who doesn't sleep better when it's cold and dark outside and they're all nice and toasty in bed?

Killy Nov 5, 2007 06:32 AM

I love winter. I won't be seeing a glimpse of the sun for another 3,5 months! Seriously, I won't.

That makes it easier to appreciate summer and we all know summer rocks.

Angel of Light Nov 5, 2007 06:36 AM

Winter tends to be one of my better seasons. I find with all the seasons they all have their good points and their bad points.

There are a number of reasons why I like winter:

I kind of like the majestic beauty of it. Its just nice to wake up and see the entire ground covered with snow. There is such a pristine beauty about it.

I find during the winter the sky looks much clearer and its actually a beautiful sight to see the aurora borealis in the middle of the night.

Contrary to some people I actually do enjoy shovelling snow, I like getting the workout every time I go out to do it. My fiance got me involved in downhill skiing and I can't wait to again. I like going skating and like one of the people on this forum said, the air feels much more crisp.

Plus the fact you get more of a chnace to miss out on work (snow day) due to bad weather well in my province (newfoundland) anyway. In terms of working in here in alberta, its not nescessarily about the weather but if it reaches -30 C then they send us home.

One of the best feelings in the world is during the winter, just hugging into the person you love in a cold bed, trying to get warm.

Krelian Nov 5, 2007 07:16 AM

Southeast England's just a frozen shithole in the winter. Snow is a rarity, and the air is boring, icy and still.

Wait what. No no no, this is all wrong. Completely wrong.

I love winter in the northern hemisphere, means the cricket is on in Australia

Philia Nov 5, 2007 07:59 AM

I love winter season so much for a lot of reasons that were mentioned above.

However though, I really hate how much my car has suddenly become a huge burden around this time. :\ I have a lot of problems with it and a lot of it can be rectified by being stored inside a GARAGE.

ForestBrain Nov 5, 2007 08:48 AM

Wrong... name... my sister stayed signed in and I didn't notice... darn...
but anyway, (sorry Deborah)

I love winter! and I loooove snow! :D

Adara Nov 5, 2007 09:48 AM

I like winter because down here because it's not really all that cold. I mean, I thought it was when I was growing up until I spent a year in Michigan and began to appreciate how mild Texas winters are. It might get into the low 40s on a really cold day, otherwise you can expect mid to upper 50s or lower 60s where I live. The only downside is the rain in the winter. It doesn't snow, so it rains instead and it's some cold shit.

indutrial Nov 5, 2007 11:35 AM

One advantage of the winter is that I don't get sinus-fucked to death by ragweed and all the other shit that the other seasons bring to haunt me. The first big pollen weeks of the spring always makes me hope the winter will hang on a little bit longer.

An annoying thing about the winter for me is that I'm the only one in my apartment complex who seems to have any snow-shovelling technique or ability, let alone an actual snow shovel. Tons of my neighbors are Indian and Asian office-slaves who have no concept of how to function in the outdoors, and they'll be outside pathetically fucking around with a garden shovel or a broom, trying to move 5-6 inches of slush/snow/ice.

The central NJ area also features some of the most crap-tastic winter drivers you can imagine. It's even worse when certain townships plow their streets/highways and others just say "fuck it" and let people spin out and slide all over the place.

Maybe you should try eating something. =p

I love winter. At least, I love it until after New Years. After that, everything looks so drab and the snow gets dirty so fast. The sky is always gray and the trees are bare.

But everything before February is GREAT.

You must have a poorly insulated house or like no heat system in there. Even in winter my bathroom gets really steamed up when I take a shower.

Personally, I prefer winter aside from the snow. Snow makes driving a pain in the butt. Aside from that I find it alot easier to just dress extra warm then to try to cool down from the heat. Plus my allergies don't bother me as much, I can freaking breath!

niki Nov 5, 2007 01:09 PM

Winter has to be enjoyed in the wild more than any other season. There's nothing like walking in a frozen landscape while wearing the perfect clothes that make you neither cold nor sweaty.

Although, yeah, I'll agree urban life sucks even more in winter.

Hamu-Sumo Nov 5, 2007 01:21 PM

Winter is great. Fall is okay, too. Well, when it's too hot you can do nearly nothing but when it's cold you can wear warm clothes and use a blanket at home etc. And it's still the perfect season for gaming. :D

Ah, and German christmas markets really rocks. ;)

The Wise Vivi Nov 5, 2007 01:31 PM

Winter is good other than the fact when it gets to -40 for a week and you have to go to work every morning and wait for the car to warm up. The steering wheel is freezing cold for an hour.... and I usually get to where I am going before it even warms up.

Other than that, snowmobiling, skiing, skating, bonfires, and other outdoor activities make winter great. I love it when it snows, although, I hate the mess it creates in the city.

guyinrubbersuit Nov 5, 2007 01:41 PM

I enjoy winter because it means I can wear leather coats. Too bad it's still not cold enough here for me to wear it. :(

Paco Nov 5, 2007 01:49 PM

I fucking love winters here in Central Cali. It's nice and cold but not "there's icicles on my dick!" cold and I can always bundle up. That also gives us a good chunk of the year to have an excuse for bonfires and mad drinking dashes.

It's the summers I can't stand here.

Ballpark Frank Nov 5, 2007 02:18 PM

Hey man, more to put on makes for more to take off; and that makes for a longer show. Winter is fistworthy.

Temari Nov 5, 2007 02:47 PM

I love winter, but I hate certain aspects of it.

I love bundling up in the cold, but I hate it when the wind is so sharp that it bites you. I love the snow... I hate cleaning off cars (and climbing into a ridiculously cold car).

Winter = electric blankets. <3

SuperNova Nov 5, 2007 03:29 PM

I'm a huge whore for snow. Being from New England, I'm a big fan of the snow, and people think I'm nuts for it. Another great moment is when you get to drive in it and you can't see more than 2 feet in front of you. Love it.

Oh, and this too...

Midna Nov 5, 2007 04:04 PM

I tend to romanticize winter. One of my favorite things is on cold rainy nights to light a fire, get a drink, and curl up on the couch with someone to watch a movie (or something ^_^ ).

Man, to have a cold rainy night in my area... Would be nice....

JackTheRipper Nov 5, 2007 09:11 PM

Winter SUCKS. Cold toilet seats are by far the worst.

So true. I love that feeling.

I love winter because crawling into a comfy bed is even better than during summer. I hate how early the sun sets, though. I feel like going to bed at 6 because it's so dark out and I always feel rushed to get my work done.

Audiophile Nov 5, 2007 09:33 PM

Winter in Texas is extremely nice. 70 degrees, slightly windy, and it gets dark earlier, which is nice for night person like me. Of course, the intense humidity and heat the rest of the year make up for it, but... at least it's nice for a couple months!

This sums up my post right here. Livin' in Las Vegas and it's actually really nice during Winter. But then again, you get that when you had to go three days in a row in 120F weather.

I can actually open the windows and fall asleep comfortably here. Comfortably!

My feelings exactly, I hate being hot. Having to wait for the a/c to cool down in your car, or just plain being without a/c. When you're cold you canget warm so fast! But I do hate stepping out side of the shower and freezing my ass off.

I've lived in Vegas my whole life and we had maybe 5 different times that it snowed. We just moved to Idaho and I'm looking forward to a good snow. yay.

Obviously you've never been really fucking cold as anyone that's lived somewhere it does can attest to.

(Worst is when your core temperature drops and nothing you do can manage to heat you up.)

What? Did you fall in a pool of really freezing water and stay there for more than 5 minutes? How did your core temperature drop? Please tell us, that's quite interesting.

Radez Nov 5, 2007 10:28 PM

I went hiking with my father down the Appalachian trail one summer. It rained one of the days, we had like a 13 mile hike that day, somewhere in Virginia. I'm pretty out of shape. When we got to the shelter at the end of the hike, I was wet, cold and exhausted. I also couldn't stop shivering. I was in my sleeping bag, with dry changes of clothing, lots and lots of layers, and still freezing. I had apparently exhausted myself to the point where I couldn't warm myself up.

I'd love winter, normally. Freezing air is invigorating to me in small doses. Also comfortable beds and that melting feeling when you walk from freezing cold into heated rooms is awesome. The only thing that sucks, which trumps any possible bonus is the potential that I might need to shovel my car out of snow at 5am so I can catch a 6am train which may or may not be on time due to those same weather conditions. When I return at between 6:30 and 7pm, there is the possibility of having to shovel my car out yet again in order to drive home through wet, slippery, icy slush. The potential for massive suck is there.

Shonos Nov 5, 2007 10:43 PM

At least you guys get a winter. This year it's going to be a dry and warm winter. Just what Southern California needs! We're already way below our yearly rain fall. So low it might as well be negative rainfall.

Last year it was warm as well but this year is supposed to be even worse. I would kill for a 5 minute rain so it would at least feel like winter or fall.

Instead of getting a winter we're getting another spring/summer. >_> Oh well..

Yeah us Californians really have it rough, what with the mild weather and lack of toilet frost.

Shonos Nov 6, 2007 01:03 AM

Yeah I know, we have to deal with fire after fire because it wont fucking rain for more than 30 seconds. Oh wait, people forget about the fact if it doesn't rain or cool down everything fucking burns.

Vemp Nov 6, 2007 06:18 AM

Being in the tropics, snow is impossible. We get dry and humid "winter" season, so it's still like summer, just like the rest of the year.

Well, flying back from California in the middle of winter to find your car frosted and snowed in while you've lost a glove and your hat's inside the car (whose door is frozen shut) can do it to you. Also, digging a car out of being stuck with only a windshield scraper can get you mighty chilly.

Or just go out when it's around 35°F, really winy, and raining and then walk to work for 20 minutes. That shit chills you to the bone in no time. Extra sweatshirts and hot chocolate don't ever seem to do the job of warming you up then.

Say what? After New Year's is the best time for winter!
The snow gets thicker and frostier, and the nights are fantastic.

Look, I don't know about you guys, but I love snow and cold weather. Not to say that I love the extreme cold weather (anything below 10 F is pushing it), but I find that winter makes everything seem so much more important.
Like in the summer there's always something going on that distracts me, be it the wind blowing the grass or the sunshine for 12+ hours. And in the winter it's the opposite: everything in front of me is the most important thing. When I'm at work I'm not thinking about getting out so I can go fishing, I'm thinking about what's on the agenda. When I'm with my girlfriend it's not that I want to take her out to some expensive ass dinner, I want to cook something for her and stay in and watch a movie under a shared blanket.

Plus I've always noticed that certain music sounds so much better in the winter. Boards of Canada is a winter staple for me, along with other mellow tunes.

ps - I forgot to mention that I know exactly what the above poster means, what with the cold walks chilling you to the bone. But let's face it, in summer you'd be sweating your ass off and reeking of shit (BO), and it'd take you some time before you're able to cool off and function again.

Rydia Nov 6, 2007 07:58 PM

I don't enjoy having to drive during the winter. It doesn't snow where I live (California), but it can be irritating to wait for my windshield to defrost before I can leave the complex. It usually rains a lot during winter as well, so sometimes driving through that can be a problem.

Giro0001 Nov 7, 2007 12:38 AM

We're still wearing shorts and t-shirts over here. I just needed to put a long sleeve shirt for biking to school or else would have been a bit uncomfortable.

Seriously though, I was in New York during March one year, it was just below freezing and that really wasn't bad. Just put on long pants, a shirt and a light jacket and I was fine. I can see problems when it gets down to the 10s and single digits though.

Chaotic Nov 7, 2007 01:21 AM

Winter is great in NJ. Cold as hell and there are a crapload of times my dad refuses to turn on the heat, but it's easier for me to get to sleep in the winter since I could bundle up.

Since New Jersey actually gets the butt of all four seasons, the snow here is harsh at times. I hate shoveling it though. I don't think anyone likes doing that... :><:

Either way, Fall/Winter is the best time to rock out stylish jackets for the season. You could be snug, warm, and look good. :)

nanaman Nov 7, 2007 06:22 PM

I love winter! But then, I love pretty much every season for different reasons. I think that every season is beautiful in it's own way, and I always get these nostalgic feelings whenever a new season comes around. But then I guess, I live in a small town in northern Sweden, where the nature is beautiful and you won't encounter the problems of snow slush and other crap as much as in other bigger towns/cities.

But hah, I find it funny when you're complaining about temperatures at around like 10 Fahrenheit, here where I live it can get as cold as -35 some days in winter. Now THAT is cold :) But of course it's not that cold all the time :p

Erisu Kimu Nov 12, 2007 01:05 PM

I hate winter. It's the season that sprinkles snow from the sky and I hate snow. I hate shoveling snow at 2 A.M. I also don't want to get up from bed during the mornings. It's also the time when colds and flus are frequently going around.

Fire On Ice Nov 12, 2007 01:22 PM

I love the winter. One of my favourite things is to be really warm and cozy when it's cold out. That being said I lost like 70 pounds this summer and am totally unused to being this cold but I'm stubbornly sticking to my opinion that winter is awesome.

nanaman Nov 12, 2007 01:41 PM

Hah, in just like a week we've gotten almost one feet of snow. And I love it :D
