Are you a cool cat consumer whore? What do you collect? =o
Gamingforce, more like Digital Press. So, do you collect anything in particular? Sometimes it's fun to have blobs of crap that can combine into a theme of CONCENTRATED PURE LOVE. Or something. A certain game series? Every game that features Jesus breakdancing on a skateboard? Toys based on games? Play guides? Everything by your favorite developer? Unreleased games that set you back thirty billion dollars on eBay? Maybe you just have a mind boggling amount of games for one system? MAYBE YOU WANT TO CATCH THEM ALL? Let's pointlessly flaunt our junk on the internet!
It's probably fairly obvious that I obsess over the terrible Simple 2000 games. I collect the PAL versions, pretty much because it's such a stupid thing to do. The covers are so hilariously bad, the games themselves are loaded with fun nightmares. The majority of them are second hand, I don't care too much for the quality of these, as long as the box is there to laugh at and the game itself works (though sometimes they're so high class, they don't even work when brand new). I'm never going to complete the collection, there's about seventy floating out there. All spread across different publishers. Most of them never make it to Australia. In fact some them never even saw the light of day outside of Italy (505 GameStreet's old home~). I can't be arsed putting effort into this, they're really not worth it. It's just something kinda goofy to pollute my shelves. And picking through pre-owned bins to discover new ones is amusing for a few seconds! It's also fun to write up about them, since they're so shit. REPOST FROM ANOTHER THREAD BECAUSE IT WORKS HERE TOO (WHOA). http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y13...yterrible1.jpg Um, since then I've gotten Dirt Track Devils. So you could imagine it's on Sam's head! That's about it from me really. I have lots of collection sorta things that I've given up on. Like my Taito DS/PSP one. It was fun to begin with, because they're releasing sequels to lots of awesome old games, the first few were okay. But.. they keep getting worse. And they DAMAGE MEMORIES. And they're expensive. And not worth it. And and and. For ages now I've been thinking of going ahead and trying to build up a collection of the Earthworm Jim games. There's not a lot! The worst part would be trying to find a copy of the Master System port.. since it was only released in Brazil. I can't get there by bus! GO GO GO GO GO GO. Post photos if you want. Then we can have a picture book. =) If you just post like "I have 200 SNES ROMs on mah computer" or "I collect video games see you later" I'll punch you in the dick. If you don't have one I'll get you one. Then I'll punch it. Don't mess. Internet. Come here and say it. Hur wuh buh. This thread was brought to you by Stefan_L's amazing Robocod collection. |
I used to have every Metroid game, but then Nintendo kept coming out with new systems and new Metroid games for those systems and I had to buy those too but I haven't and so now I don't have every Metroid game.
I also have a lot of Beatmania IIDX games. I don't have the newest one yet but my birthday is in two weeks (hint hint GFF buy me a $70 game plz). I also have a Japanese controller and an American one as they have subtle differences between them. And then I play the games a lot to get high scores and as the rain pours I open more doors. |
I believe I have nearly every version of Street Alpha 2 in existence:
SNES (ha!) PS1 (standalone) PS1 (Street Fighter Collection) Saturn (Street Fighter Collection) PS2 (Street Fighter Alpha Anniversary) Arcade (ROM...I almost bought a cabinet w/ an Alpha 2 board in it though and would still probably do so if given the opportunity) So I'm only missing the standalone Saturn version and the "real" arcade board (if I had the money and resources, I'd collect real arcade cabinets for a lot of games). Such a beautiful game... |
I don't really collect games, I do collect old issues of EGM however. Anything below issue 51 I'm looking for. I have some here and there that are older, but I'm definitely missing a whole lot of them.

I collect RPGs. I have
Sega Saturn Dragon Force Playstation Final Fantasy Origins Final Fantasy Chronicles Final Fantasy Anthology Final Fantasy 7 Final Fantasy Tactics Saga Frontier Ogre Battle Star Ocean 2 Valkyrie Profile Tales of Destiny Playstation 2 Disgaea Disgaea 2 Makai Kingdom La Pucelle Tactics Final Fantasy X Final Fantasy X-2 Final Fantasy XII .hack 1-4 Valkyrie Profile 2 Dragon Quest VIII Sega Genesis collection which has like 4 RPGs in it. Plus I have a few on Virtual Console and plan to get more as they're released since I no longer have any working cartridge systems. Of course there are some RPGS I don't have cause I just plain think they're crap. |
I guess it could be said that I collect DS games. I have somewhere between 170-180 games (I'm seriously beginning to lose count), and I continue to buy more and more every so often (it varies how many I get a month, though it's probably at the least gonna be two).
The reason I say I collect them is because I am pretty anal about what condition they are in (in other words, I don't buy a whole lot of them just to say I have a lot DS games). I have no preference for whether they are new or used (though only about ten of them or so actually are used), but I always have to have them complete with orginal box and manual. I even keep most of the inserts that come with the games as well (though I do this for all my games, not just DS games). I don't really know what I'm going for with this. My goal is not to buy every single DS game out there, as that would be pretty hard to do unless I was insanely rich or something. In addition to the games, I kinda just collect DS crap in general as well. I have a number of preorder/bonus styli, including the Lost in Blue 2 log stylus, the Death Jr. scythe stylus, and the Brain Age 2 rainbow styli set. Not as important as the games, but it's a nice little extra thing to collect in addition to them. |

I collect different types of music/rhythm games. As of now I have the beatmaniaIIDX Series, pop'n music, DDR/In The Groove, Pump It Up, and Guitar Hero (the controller also is used for Guitar Freaks). I'm looking into getting a Parapara controller as well as a Taiko no Tatsujin controller. |
I'm a Sega dork, through and through. I have Phantasy Star Online miniature figurines on this computer desk, all the soundtrack CDs, multiple copies of the game on different platforms, and so on. I have the Eternal Arcadia Limited Edition box on display for the Dreamcast. Also have an authentic copy of the game's soundtrack that had to be special ordered through Enterbrain. Even though it's technically not a Sega release, I have Deavid Soul's Sparkling Music CD that contains tracks featured in Jet Grind Radio. Still have my Sega Saturn and all three scenarios of Shining Force 3 in Japanese, as well as scenario 1 in English. I have the Shining Force 3 Premium Disk, the artbook, and own the domain name named after a character in the game. There's other stuff too, but you get the idea.
|
I collect RPGs also, primarily PS1 RPGs. If I walk into a game store and see a PS1 RPG I don't have, and its not a suck ass game like Beyond the Beyond, I buy it. Even if it costs me all the money I have at the time. Unfortunately, GameStop doesn't sell PS1 games anymore, and I'm not enthusiastic enough to buy games off eBay. I'm too lazy to list all my games, but out of the 45-ish titles I own, only 5 are non-RPG.
|
Anything by Level-5 -- Dark Cloud, Dark Cloud 2, Dragon Quest VIII (most of the game's development was left to Level-5, though it was still published by SE and drawn by Toriyama) and Rogue Galaxy. Beyond that, I ultimately bought my PS3 because of White Knight Story.
And yeah, I'll buy Professor Layton and Dragon Quest IX and whatever else Level-5 wants to produce on the DS. After Capcom abandoned Clover Studios, I went out and purchased all of Clover's stuff -- Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2 (on both the GameCube and the PS2), VJ Red Hot Rumble (again, GameCube and the PSP version) and VJ Double Trouble on the DS. I already owned Okami, and a couple months ago I found a new copy of God Hand at one of the GameStop's in town. Of course, I'll buy pretty much everything that Seeds manages to release, in light of hopefully an Okami 2 one day. That's all I can think of for now though, at least anything with any sort of group attachment to it. On a smaller scale I do have Lunar 1 and 2 for the Sega CD, their PS1 Complete ports. |
DDR mixes. Real or bootleg. Doesn't matter to me. I did own all the PS1 ones before until either they got misplaced or horribly scratched. Here's the list of what I own (and did own):
Japan 1st Mix 2nd Mix 2nd Mix Club append Vol. 1 2nd Mix Club append Vol. 2 3rd Mix Best Hits 4th Mix Extra Mix (Had it until my idiotic friend cracked the CD) 5th Mix (Horribly scratched.) Disney Mix US Dance Dance Revolution Konamix DDRMAX: Dance Dance Revolution DDRMAX2: Dance Dance Revolution Extreme Extreme 2 SuperNOVA Hottest Party Disney Mix I know I'm missing a few, and I don't own a single Dancing Stage mix... I'm working on it. And yes, I have the Japanese and US version of Disney Mix. |
Pretty much PS1/PS2/XBox/GC games.
I have: 213 PS2 Games 163 PS1 Games 100 XBox Games 56 GC Games And then less than 50 each for PSP, X360, PS3, etc... I recently sold nearly all my DS games (around 35-40 sold) because I got an R4 flashcart instead. I also collect DVD boxsets. I'm seriously running out of room in my house to store all this. I have to keep putting together new shelves to fit it all. SOMEONE HELP ME I AM AN ADDICT. |

Every now and then I'll try and get my hands on something classic, from the old days whenever I go into an EB. The biggest dissapointment so far was I went in there one day, no money (I know, I'm a tard) and I saw a copy of Castlevania: SotN for ten bucks. I almost shot myself that day :/ |
I collect Japanese PS2/other games. But you already knew that.
Fumito Ueda collection: Shadow of the Colossus PAL w/ 4 art cards Shadow of the Colossus Art Book Shadow of the Colossus NTSC/J Shadow of the Colossus OST ICO OST ICO PAL w/ 4 art cards ICO NTSC/J Making of NICO DVD ICO Novel ICO visual guide ICO press kit penispenispenis I also have a small Gitaroo Man collection, which includes Gitaroo Man PAL, Gitaroo Man One (demo w/ 4 cards) and Gitaroo Man NTSC/J w/ 4 cards. For the most part I collect box sets, limited edition (ie. DistorteD Konamistyle, Pop'n 14 Konamistyle, Lunar 1 and 2 etc) stuff. I'm also unintentionally getting a significant amount of shmups. |

I am collecting everything Rockman.EXE related though I only focus on Japanese released wares. My collection is almost complete; I own nearly all of the official stuff ever made by the likes of Capcom or Takaratomy, things like figures, soundtracks, dvd's, games, toys, event posters, cardboard cuttings, keychains, GBA special editions, e-cards... you name it.
I'm still in the process collecting some of those hard-to-get 3rd party stuff's though there's not much left to go. One time I almost got hold of an auctioned Battle Chip Stadium arcade cabinet but some bastard beat me to it. That would be pretty cool to have :) Besides Rockman.EXE i'm also collecting like crazy for the new series called Ryuusei no Rockman, this will be quite a chore as well. Wish I could take a few pictures of my whole collection but they are stored in boxes at the moment. This all changes when I move out and have my very own crib ofcourse :) |

I can't say that I collect any games based on Company or System or whatever,
but I have (Half-way unintentionally) have collected a nice sized collection of Game Manuals. Its one way to know what games I have owned in the past which I do not have anymore. I'll post some pictures later if you want to see them. I have: 24 PS2 Game Manuals 4 PS1 Game Manuals 7 DS Game Manuals 6 PC Game Manuals 1 Gamecube Game Manual 1 PSP Game Manual 4 Game Boy Advance Game Manuals 1 Game Boy Color Game Manual I know, not much of a ''collection'' =\ However, If I ever do start collecting games based on some specific category or whatever, I'll let you know |
Speaking of game manuals, I actually found a few the other day in my room--of games that I don't think I ever owned. I found one for 'Rocky Rodent', a SNES game [which I've since tried as a ROM, it's rather terrible], as well as a few N64 titles. Also came across the booklets for Super Metroid, Final Fantasy III [US], Mario RPG, Mario 64, and Starfox 64. Those ones I owned though. I'm not sure how I got the others, however.
As for my 'collection'... I think it's safe to say that I own every Final Fantasy [except for the Final Fantasy Adventures, which I don't really count as FF games] title released in North America. With an exception or two. I used to own FF Origins, but I don't know where it went, and I haven't picked up the ports of FFVII [as I own the PS version] and FFVI [as I have both the SNES and PS versions]... though I'd like to. I even have a copy of the FFIII [J] cart for NES lying around somewhere. I didn't really intentionally collect these, it just sort of happened. |
don't have the money to go all out and collect what I like...but I do have a few items for the Fire Emblem series, Harvest Moon series and the Phoenix Wright games...also got a handful of Pokemon goods, but I'm not really a big fan of Pokemon...
http://www.eternalemblem.net/GS/FE.jpg that's all for FE, 6 games, 4 in both Jap and English, one of the SNES game in a limited edition box set, 12 volumes of official manga, 5 official guides and artbooks, 20 figures, soundtracks, some 500 Trading Card Game cards |
You're missing the 2-episode FE OVA. ;p That's pretty impressive though.

Recently i've been examining what drives my lust for collecting games, and i think it's a balance of in and outside of game asthetic value vs. playability and fun. Inside of that i do have a pull towards certain franchises. To put that simply, i like having the box and instruction book to a game, so much so, that i won't even look at those coverless box games EB has in the second hand section. Also might be a reason why i haven't bought many GBA games (have had a DS for almost three years now, and have bought 3 GBA games). This is also pretty much the reason why i don't play ROMs or burn games. I like to buy stuff.
As for playability and fun, i will do research on games, and track them down/buy them impulsivley if i see them. This often stems from my constant franchises that i follow. Those are the games that i will buy without thinking, and pre-order if given the chance. These franchises include: Final Fantasy Resident Evil Zelda Metroid (Prime and Fusion up) among some lesser obsessions. Two smaller parts of my collective consciousness are games from my childhood that i desperately try to track down. I didn't play many games when i was younger in part of my parents limits on their avalability to me, and my having no money at all. It's a smaller list of games that i will require to play again one day, and i've stroked a few off it already. I'm sure i'll never be able to find the others. The last part of it is going to second hand stores and buying what i think will interest me. At the store i frequent there can be amazing stuff there, but you have to dig for it, and you have to buy it right then and there or you'll never see it again. How can you beat Final Fatnasy Chronicles, Final Fantasy Anthology for 8 bucks each. |
I collect all the localized EarthBound games. It's a pretty rad collection. :)
I also used to have every game with Mario in it (before they came out with 8 Mario Parties) including Mario's Time Machine and Mario Teaches Math (and all those Donkey Kong titles that had him in there too). |
A while ago my funmoneys ran out and as such my games collection has stood still for about a year. However, when I can afford it I will be expanding my FF collection of course, as at the moment it comprises only of VI - XII (excluding XI due to lack of computer memory and, unfortunately, including X-2). The only problem being I can't afford to buy consoles and the games, so things like Tactics and Crystal are out of the question for me, and copies of everything pre-VI are a bitch to get hold of where I live.
I also have Crash Bandicoot games from the first til the Wrath of Cortex. I've been playing it practically since the first game came out and I can't help but feel fond of the silly bugger. I've also got two Crash models which were either crappily made or broke when they were shipped. I wanted to start an FF figurine collection but the only place that sold them at a resonable price closed down years ago. All my other games are pretty randomised, except a few I have from the same series such as MGS, Tomb Raider and Soul Reaver. |
I collected RPGs for PS1.
SOME of the games in my collection include: Final fantasy Anthology Final Fantasy Collection Final Fantasy 7 FInal Fantasy 8 Final Fantasy 9 Final Fantasy Tactics Suikoden Suikoden II Wild Arms Wild Arms II Xenogears Breath of Fire III Legend of Dragoon Chrono Cross Beyond the Beyond (which thankfully I did NOT pick up as my first RPG on PSX else I would have not gone hrough with this collection). Legend of Legaia\ Arc the Lad Collection Lunar I and II Grandia II Breath of Five IV Those weird Chocobo Dungeon Games Some (but not all) of the DIgnmon games Some (but not all) of the Monster Rancher Games Threads of Fate Jade Cocoon Dragon Quest VII (which I literally saved pennies for months...only to play it about a week). Final Fantasy Origins Grandsteam Saga Those wonderful King's Field Games Koudelka Valkyrie Profile Legend of Mana Parasite Eve I and II Persona I and II Saga Frontier I and II Saiyuki Star Ocean II Tales of Destiny I and II Thousand Arms Vanguard Bandits I and II Those weird games where you trap civilions in a castle. They made a series of them. NOt all the RPGs for PSX, but quite a number of them. |
Beyond the Beyond is by no means that bad. Despite what everyone said, I beat it this year for the first time ever. I ended up removing my "Everyone thinks it sucks" bias and played it. There are normal random battles, an awesome dual-health (backup health) system which doesn't make the game bad (just level up to compensate people...jeeeez!!), lots of spells, lots of critical attacks and blocks...
There is a flying device and warp spells near the end. Plenty of caves to do. To me this game is in the 7 out of 10 range..... not lower, but not higher. Explain what is so bad please, mortis, and anybody else... |
Oh man, The Granstream Saga. And here I was thinking nobody else had ever played that game. I found a used copy of it a couple of years ago and managed to snatch it up for $10. Still incredibly fun even with the clunky character animations.
|
Taco, what game is that in your sig picture?
|
It's パンヤ, obviously.
|
Pangya sequel?

Well its only been within the last few years that me and my fiance have been hardcore video game collectors.
We mostly collect rpg's, but if its one thing all of the games that we collect have in common is that they're all anime style games. There is still quite a few games we have to collect. The majority of our collection focuses around PS1 and PS2 Games. There are certain series that me and her are into that we try to get as many products from that series as much as possible. In terms of RPG's I'm a Xeno-whore as well as a Shadow Hearts-Whore and my fiance on the other hand loves anything dealing with the suikoden and star ocean series. Personally I would like to be adding more games to my sega dreamcast collection since they have a lot of anime style games such as Project Justice, Gunbird 2, Bangai-O and a few others. The next RPG series we want to finish collecting is the Shin Megami Tensei collection and the majority of the games from Working Designs, my fiance loves rpg's with interesting storylines and the majority of the shin megami tensei games always get at least 90% rating in terms of story from RPGFAN. |

I collect "James Pond 2 - Robocod" games, not the whole James Pond series only the second one :-)
My most recent addition to it is the PC version (big box version): http://hem.bredband.net/b108596/robocod_collection.jpg http://www.ym2149.com/misc/pics/robocod/robocod_pc1.jpg http://www.ym2149.com/misc/pics/robocod/robocod_pc2.jpg http://www.ym2149.com/misc/pics/robocod/robocod_pc3.jpg Also i just started on building up a "Lode Runner" collection wich would be all Lode Runner games and it's sequels. Just look at these two PC-98 releases of the original Lode Runner :D http://www.ym2149.com/misc/pics/lr_pc98_1.jpg http://www.ym2149.com/misc/pics/lr_pc98_2.jpg http://www.ym2149.com/misc/pics/lr_pc98_21.jpg http://www.ym2149.com/misc/pics/lr_pc98_22.jpg |
Stefan clearly has the best colletion. Thread over.
|
Oh dear. I collect lots of games. Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, GBA, PS2, you name it! Japanese imports too. And Falcom games. These images show only a fraction of my whole collection. I mostly just displayed random games. I'm not gonna dig out boxes in the garage to take pictures of my ps1/n64/genesis/snes/dreamcast collections. To much work.
Spoiler:
If I came home one day to find it all burnt to the ground, including all my video games I have been collecting since I was but a small little kid, I would probably hang myself in front of the ashes of these games. |
Miles' collection automatically wins because of the collection of Falcom games, Klonoa (is Klonoa 2 in there?), Suikoden II, Valkyrie Profile and Dragon Quarter all in one place. The amount of kinetic awesome that bookshelf is emitting is flabbergasting.
|
Of course I have Klonoa 2. It was actually the first Klonoa I ever played. It's on the shelf
I wasn't kidding when I said I was a hardcore gamer. =p |
That shelf wins for Arc the Lad anime being on it. I thought my shelf was the only one. :tpg:
|
Monster World Collection! =D
Man, American Saturn cases are so nice. PAL ones are low grade clown meat plastic with cardboard badly glued on so that whenever you actually open the case it slowly commits suicide. Then God help you if there's a sticker on the case, that cardboard will rip even with a slight breeze! |
Well, There's nothing that I'm still really collecting. However, I did end up collecting every Zelda game for Gamecube (NTSC), I guess thats really the only thing I've really felt I HAD to collect. Although, If I do start building up a collection of something (Example being Dead Or Alive, were I had DOA3 and DOA4) I had to purchase the other games to make it the full series.
|
I wish had some specific collection to show off, but I just don't. I used to spend a lot of money on games in the past but just on nothing specific. I've always wanted to have a collection of all my favourite SNES RPGs, but I've never gotten the money to do so.
The only rare gem I can say that I have is the plug n play Dragon Quest Swords game that you plug directly into the TV. It's one of the best games I've ever played and I bring it up from it's box now and then to play it. |
I collect action & RPG
Wii Super Mario Galaxy DS Naruto: Ninja Council 3 <*> Lunar Knights <*> PSOne Final Fantasy IX PS2* Final Fantasy X* Final Fantasy XII* Wild Arms 4* *........Items for the new PS3 for when it drops to $299 <*>....Items for next Wii game |
