Wiimote Jackets: More Free Stuff!

| Nintendo - Customer Service | Wii Remote Jacket Accessory Offer

New consoles are shipped with some sort of grip. I'm not quite sure if I'll want it, but considering the things are free, then its worth getting.

Yeah, I woke up and saw the familiar blue glow of a new network message lighting my room like a fucking beacon and thought, "Oh great. Another useless message from Nintendo regarding new releases."

To make a long story short: I ordered 4.

Chaotic Oct 2, 2007 02:41 PM

If I knew it was gonna be this easy, then hell, I'm getting some myself.

I'm whorring out four myself for the future when I get two more. <_<

Slayer X Oct 2, 2007 03:44 PM

I Nintendo wants to share their rediculous amount of profit with me then I'm game. Ordering 4 myself, Boo Ya! For thoes interested this is costing Nintendo around $18million according to analysts, thanks.

Well given that the Wii and the DS are pretty much licenses to print money, 18million isn't that much for them, I don't think.

I wonder if they're gonna bundle these with the systems? Still need to pick a Wii up this Holiday Season :3

Chaotic Oct 2, 2007 04:03 PM

And argh, do you have to be registered to the website to claim these things? It says that my Wii Serial Number isn't a valid Wii number. <_<

Slayer X Oct 2, 2007 04:11 PM

Perhaps so then. It's not that hard to do. So register for free shit, I say.

@Dark Nation
Trust me, I know how much they're making. I've taken the Wii apart and it's only worth half what it's retail for. Which is why it's nice to see them at least giving back to the gamers. You'll never see MS do that, maybe Sony.

Chaotic Oct 2, 2007 04:12 PM

Yeah, I just went and registered for the site. Hopefully it will work now... I'm gonna go get Sin and Punishment in the meantime. :3:

[edit] Yep, it worked. Also, any shipping and handling fees that you have to pay?

You might have to pay shipping but I'm not too sure. I have somewhat of a bad memory and don't remember everything when ordering my better wii straps! D=! I do remember that it took as long as 3 weeks to get to my house though. :(

I'm totally getting four even if they look ugly as fuck. :eagletear:

Chaotic Oct 2, 2007 04:42 PM

Drat, if there is a shipping fee, but hell, I'll see what I could do about that. <_<

Slayer X Oct 2, 2007 04:47 PM

I dought there is. There wasn't one for the straps. But I guess thoes just came in an envelope however.

Chaotic Oct 2, 2007 04:48 PM

Then woot. Must find a faster connection. My connection is too freakin' slow.

[edit] ARGH. WHY MUST THIS DAY BE SO TROUBLING FOR ME? I finally find a fast connection to confirm my order on, and now they say I've exceeded the amount that I could request. Now I can't get my damn sleeves.

What now?

Sousuke Oct 2, 2007 06:38 PM

Same here. I ordered four, just like I did with the wriststraps... Even though I only have two Wiimotes. So far, anyway.

Slayer X Oct 2, 2007 06:44 PM

@Chaotic
I guess that means that your prior requests went through even though the page didn't refresh. It can't say you have reached your limit if it doesn't have an order for your Wii code. So it must have went through.

The_Griffin Oct 2, 2007 06:59 PM

I'll be skipping this, myself.

Original Wii (including the janky-ass wriststraps), until the day it dies!

Especially since they could have sold it for $200 and STILL made money... IIRC they said something like "If we sell it for too little, there will be a disincentive for casual and non gamers to buy it, when compared to the price of the competition.". Don't quote me on that though ^_^;;

Well I obviously can't get one right now, but someone should post pics when theirs arrive for closer inspection :)

It did go through before, but when I was trying to confirm my order, the page kept saying I timed out.

Elixir Oct 2, 2007 09:06 PM

Wii condom alert.

Hmm. America only, right? What's with the buldge at the front of the controller? Well no matter, it's fucking impossible to throw your remote if it's attached to the nunchuck, so I don't have any protection on mine right now. I have a pre-ordered Phoenix Wright wrist strap on my Wii remote though, and even that is annoying.

tl;dr I don't like the way they look at all. But then again I own a Wii, so this is an oxymoron.

Omnislash124 Oct 2, 2007 09:11 PM

I don't think they look very well with the remote. It kind of takes away some of the charm of the Wiimote. Regardless, if it's free, hell, I can't complain. I'm going to pick up 4.

They do look a bit ugly though. -_-

Infernal Monkey Oct 2, 2007 09:17 PM

Oh cool, NEStendo Australia's doing this too. Wow, free junk! I'm going to ring them right now. Right after I finish typing. Right now. Some lucky lady is in for a good time when I get them.

Lukage Oct 2, 2007 09:28 PM

I actually have four Wiimotes. Actually, I have five. I use one for my PC. :)

The Plane Is A Tiger Oct 2, 2007 10:24 PM

Well, thanks to Nintendo's site screwing up I have to wait until tomorrow night to do this now. The whole thing went crazy and started giving 404 errors when I got to the checkout screen, and when I tried again it told me I'd exceeded the number of jackets per serial number and to try again in 24 hours if that was an error. Looks like the same problem as Chaotic. If it doesn't fix itself tomorrow night I'll call the 800 number on Thursday.

I'm not sure if I'll even use these things, but they're free. Why not?

Chaotic Oct 2, 2007 10:35 PM

Oh, then it isn't just me. :3:

Slayer X Oct 2, 2007 10:58 PM

Alright, so you guys are using the US site right. Hopefully the Canadian site doesn't have the same problem when I go to do mine.

Infernal Monkey Oct 2, 2007 11:15 PM

Hey at least you guys get some form of space-age technology to order them, I had to ring up and wait as the guy on the other end went to find out what I was even talking about. "Wait, you want a new controller?" "No, some cover thing! It's on your site!" "Really?" Free offer = ten billion dollar phone bill. :tpg:

Buizel Oct 3, 2007 07:13 AM

Yesterday I got the 404 error when I try to order it but just now I tried again today and everything went through.

And when they mean free, they really mean it's free. No S&H or hidden fees! Order today! */infomercial*

FatsDomino Oct 3, 2007 10:40 AM

Yup, I got that 404/Try_tomorrow crap yesterday as well. I'll try again when I get home. I mean even if they look retardedly awesome who denies free shit? SHIT FOR FREE! I even ordered that free touching is good mannequin hand and only just recently threw it away. If these things suck then they'll at least make for an AMAZING chew toy. =D

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Oct 3, 2007 11:37 AM

I meant to do it yesterday, but I haven't felt like unplugging all the cables to get the serial number off of it. I'll probably do it sometime today and order the usual "four when I really have two".

Why would you throw away a mannequin hand? It's such a great random thing to leave sitting around the house!

Anyway, I had to try this twice to get it to work today. The first time I tried ordering I got that 404 crap again, but it let me try again immediately and it went through. Must be the high volume of people trying to order these.

Slayer X Oct 3, 2007 05:57 PM

Yeah, probably. The Canadian site was pretty damn slow when I did my order, but I did get it done on the first try however. Yay for low gamer volume in Canada!!! ^^

Chaotic Oct 5, 2007 01:24 AM

Tried it again, it worked, but I forgot to log in. And now it's saying I exceeded the limit again. <_<

I'm seriously waiting until Saturday to do this so at least then I'll have a fast stable connection and I'll be able to get the straps while I'm at it.

As long as it's free, it's free. <_<

Metal Sphere Oct 5, 2007 01:39 AM

Looks like they're covering their rears for any morons who break something by flinging the wiimote. I'm not keen on the looks, but I can't think of very many ways they could've made this look attractive. Snatching it up though, free stuff is, well, free.

Unrelated question:
Didn't know where to ask this, but what's the most recommended SD card for use with the Wii, or will any do?

I'm using a SanDisk 1gb SD card and it works perfectly fine. I don't think it would matter because there isn't a big need for SD cards (that I would know of course) besides the obvious backing up/excite truck/photo channel. :/

Well finally got through with the order as well. I can't wait until they come so people can make condom/penis jokes with these.

It's just like the early days of the Wii when people cracked jokes about it's name. :3:

Slayer X Oct 5, 2007 10:41 AM

Yeah, condoms for a person's Wii. And it's there to protect people too ;)

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Oct 5, 2007 11:46 AM

Okay, finally ordered it right now. I don't expect to see it for a while, though.

Going through my shopping history, I've realized that Nintendo gives out some pretty cool stuff. The mannequin hand, Kirby stylus, Zelda Collection, Master Quest, Quill Stylus. And then of course the safety things they've been giving out for the Wii.

The Plane Is A Tiger Oct 23, 2007 02:42 PM

Has anyone else gotten their wiimote jackets yet? Mine arrived today, and it's a little better than I expected. I'm still not sure if I'll use them though. Seems like they'll make changing the batteries a pain in the ass, and I doubt they'll allow the wiimote to fit into the Wii Zapper.

Still, nifty considering they were free.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Oct 23, 2007 03:04 PM

Mine haven't even shipped yet, unless they changed their minds and decided not to tell me when they shipped them out.

I'm also waiting for my quill stylus.

The Plane Is A Tiger Oct 23, 2007 03:08 PM

You probably won't get any sort of notification when they ship. The only email I got from Nintendo about them was back on October 4th, saying my order was being processed and there would be a delay in shipping due to a high volume of orders.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Oct 23, 2007 03:28 PM

I got the same email, but I swear it said they'd contact me when the item shipped.

But, maybe I'm mistaken. I just checked the order status, and apparently UPS is processing it at the moment.

Chaotic Oct 23, 2007 03:49 PM

Mine has the same status. I'm just waiting until I get mine also... Kinda sucks just waiting though.

Well fuck that, apparently mine came in today without me ever noticing it. My parents disapprove everything video games... I even had to prove to them that this was a free deal. <_<

chaofan Oct 24, 2007 04:56 AM

Well, this is strange considering I got my wiimote jacket a week and a bit ago... And I'm not even in the US :|! NoAus sure does surprise sometimes...

Not sure if this has been said but one of the most useful things about the jacket is the ability to cover the nunchuck connector. Nice.

Buizel Oct 24, 2007 08:29 AM

Mine didn't come in yet and I know why.

A week after I place the order my Wii started acting up. Playing games like RE4Wii, TP or "graphically intense game" show up bunch of dots on screen as if my TV experience dead pixels. This is GPU overheating cause by having WiiConnect24 on standby (wireless adapter gets really hot and the fan doesn't spin on standby!). So I called up Nintendo and ask for advance replacement. They ship me a "re-manufactured" Wii (looks new to me) and I'll ship the defected Wii back to them. During this time they'll hold of any orders, magazine subscription and repairs until they get the defected Wii back (even when they place a $214 hold charge on my CC).

I shipped back the defected Wii to Nintendo yesterday so I should get the jacket... next week. :(

LOL. It came in today. Guess they didn't hold up my order. :)

The Plane Is A Tiger Oct 24, 2007 04:39 PM

Haha, I just got an email from Nintendo saying my Wiimote jackets have shipped and should be here within 5-10 days. They're only a little bit late telling me this. :tpg:

Chaotic Oct 24, 2007 04:43 PM

Yeah, they sent that e-mail WAY too late. Mail usually comes around noon around my area. I got the e-mail at four later that day. <_<

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Oct 24, 2007 08:41 PM

Got the email too, but it was about on time.

Lacerta Oct 24, 2007 10:40 PM

This thing feels.... weird.

I'm sure it's ribbed for your pleasure or something but it feels kind of funky. Looking at the picture does make it seem like putting in batteries would be a pain, but that's how most of the jackets are for a Wiimote anyhow.

I guess Nintendo caught their flop and sent me 4 instead of 8 like their order page had previously stated. Not like I'd have a use for 8 Wiimote Condoms but you know.
