Join the Gamingforce Steam Community!

Wondering what you get when you join the GFF Steam Community?
You get:
  • A chance to meet up with people you "post" with
  • An opportunity to play some games with them, like Day of Defeat or Counter-Strike Source. Why, even the new TF2 game thing!
  • Uh...other stuff maybe...like events and stuff!

Anyways, go join it if you want. I made it for everyone, it's a public group, and it should be more fun than the Facebook group.

Also, post your Steam ID in this thread.

Skexis--Skexis.

I play DoD and DoD source occasionally, but lately I've been sticking with console stuff. I may end up buying orange box soon, though, and then look out, world!

xiaowei - mooo -> Steam Community :: ID :: mooo

I play DoD:s and TF2, currently.

Skexis. Get orange box for TF2. It's fantastic.

Not unsurprisingly:

StarmanDX -- StarmanDX

Anyone play Garry's Mod much?

Matt Sep 30, 2007 11:16 AM

Garry's Mod is playable? I thought it was just a sandbox thing where you could make videos and whatnot.

StarmanDX Sep 30, 2007 02:25 PM

While that is one of its uses, I much prefer the construction/playing with physics side of it. Constructing vehicles, arranging NPC wars, filling the map with bouncy, weightless explosive barrels; stuff like that.

The first "vehicle" I ever constructed, if you can call it that, was merely two dumpsters welded together with me inside, and with attached thrusters. Later I also realized I could make them transparent, so I could tell where I'm going. And yes, it was quite dangerous for all involved parties. My brother once made a submarine that could both float on water and submerge, and fire explosive barrel torpedoes.

GMod 9 also had several game modes. In one, teams built their own forts then played a "hold the flag" style game. In another, one team plays as birds trying to poop on the human's heads, and the other team is the humans trying to shoot the birds down. There's also Melon Racing, Hide and Seek, Soccer, Freeze Tag, and more.

So, I built a shiny new computer pretty much solely for TF2.

ID: Bender B. Rodriguez

we don't have grenades or shotguns, and sometimes that makes me very sad.

I can NOT wait for Portal. I hope it has multiplayer. *drool*

Taco Oct 5, 2007 09:08 AM

I don't know if it will, what with being a puzzle/shooter hybrid and all, but if it does it will be sick.

My steamname is anotherfourteen.

Inhert Oct 9, 2007 02:08 PM

SuperSonic Oct 9, 2007 02:21 PM

Guess I'll join in too. ID: sonictehhedgehog

The only games I play on there are Counter-Strike: Source, The Hidden: Source, and Goldeneye: Source.

Strife Oct 10, 2007 05:37 PM

I joined a while ago, so I'm already in the community, but my ID is Strife

come play TF2 with me!

Jinn Oct 13, 2007 02:46 AM

wanderingroninjin is mine. Been playing a rediculous amount of TF2 lately. For some reason I'm just really damn addicted to it. Anyways, the more the merrier! Look my up, or I might just add you all!

Grawl Oct 13, 2007 01:00 PM

I thought I posted mine ages ago. Anyway, it's grawl_NL.

Elmoogle Oct 16, 2007 02:58 PM

Bought the mighty Orange Box yesterday and I've been playing some TF2. ID is Elmoogle.

TheReverend Oct 18, 2007 10:56 AM

Sign me up!!

Didnt even know that this was here. I'm been playing TF2 like a maniac lately when I pull my head out of Portal achievements.

I just remembered I have Steam, so I dunno, hit me up sometime,
but let me know who you are, since I don't want random people just inviting
me to friends list or whatever.

ID = MrShinra

I'll probably make my account more interesting to look at after I actually go BUY the Orange Box.

Clamjouster Oct 28, 2007 06:21 AM

I mostly play TF2 these days, my ID is Juanzen, add me if you feel like it, no problem having more people you know to play with.

pofcorn Oct 28, 2007 09:27 AM

Steam ID is pofcorn, I play TF2 pretty much daily.

I also have a gift available for HL2. PM me.

Sousuke Oct 28, 2007 02:54 PM

I'm on there as Yggdrasill, but I don't have TF2... yet. Hopefully gonna pick up the Orange Box soon, cause Portal is awesome.

Ah my bad, I thought I put you up there.

Also wanted to apologize for my lack of being online (in Steam), I've been busy.
I play TF2 every so often but it might not even say that I'm on because I have to disable friends and the overlay. Some gay conflict between AVG and the Orange Box games makes it crash if I don't.

Krelian Nov 5, 2007 04:22 AM

I won't be online for a while. Campus network dislikes Steam.

Little Shithead Nov 5, 2007 11:36 PM

I'm new to this whole Steam thing, after picking up The Orange Box today.

I'm MervBurger.

See, it's like my (normal) username here, except without the space!

(TF2 so good)

Sakabadger Nov 7, 2007 09:31 PM

Thanks to an act of charity, I'm on Steam as Sakabadger. Just a word of warning (or curiosity) people have been getting "bokyung_suh" as a result back when they search for my name. Dunno if that's me or not, but whatever.

Played my first game(s) earlier with Juan. It was fun! I got hit by a train.

StarmanDX Nov 8, 2007 02:22 PM

Matt, any chance you can get our Group page to display our gameplay stats over on the right? I've only seen a few groups do it, but it should be possible.

Matt Nov 10, 2007 05:38 PM

As far as I know there's no way to post stats up in the group page. I just double checked and didn't see any option to do so.
What groups have stats enabled? Maybe if I saw it done I'd know what to look for in the admin page.

StarmanDX Nov 11, 2007 12:01 AM

Ah, apparently it only works if your group is private, and perhaps only as long as it's under a certain number of members. Take, for example, these poor fools who have played a combined total of 286.1 hours of Counter-Strike this week (and two of them haven't even played it much).

Dekoa Nov 11, 2007 11:23 PM

I joined the group as well.

Also, I plan on working on some TF2 mods that would help out one of them is an XMP type mod. THe other is a deathmatch type mod. I could use a little help getting it started though. I need to learn how to use the Source tools.

Sakabadger Nov 12, 2007 12:46 AM

There's very little actual activity in the group itself, huh. :(

I randomly joined a game once with Adol and I play with Juan on occasion, but I never really see anyone else (the other seem to be in 4chan srvars all the time).

What's the chat thing, just a regular chat room?

Matt Nov 13, 2007 07:20 PM

Yeah it's just like a regular IRC chat.

As for group activity, I'd love to organize some stuff but I'm not sure if there's much interest in, say, all of us invading some server and playing TF2 or CSS.
Post some ideas in here if you want to organize something. I'm all for it if we can get enough people.

Free.User Nov 13, 2007 08:28 PM

I've never tried hosting a server we can play on, but I think I probably have the hardware to handle it. We could try it.

Sonus Nov 26, 2007 07:24 PM

I'll join.

Sonus = Private Sonus

I play CS:S & DoD:S mainly. Sometimes Natural Selection and TFC. No Orange Box yet.

Little Shithead Dec 9, 2007 06:53 PM

Anyone with TF2 who doesn't have the "With Friends Like These..." achievement (and even those who do,) want to help a bunch of people get it?

Just got "Grey Matter" today, so now the friends achievement is the only one I'm missing.

(in before xbox360 kid)

Free.User Dec 9, 2007 06:59 PM

Yeah sure. We tried before, but it didn't seem to work. If we can get a massive group though, and make sure everyone is on each other's friend list, we should be OK.

It would be nice if Steam would do something with the achievements, like gaining points that can be used to put towards Steam purchases.

You know that'd really be a shame for me, since my stats/achievements are broken, during one of the patches world traveller and head of the class just locked down, it's starting to piss me off by now to be honest, but what can you do.

Sakabadger Dec 9, 2007 08:20 PM

I'm down for trying that.

What was the stats on that thing, like less than 3% of people have that achievement?

Little Shithead Dec 9, 2007 09:20 PM

Yeah, only about 2.1% of users have that achievement.

That, and more fun TF2 stats

Sakabadger Dec 9, 2007 10:13 PM

Wow. Those death maps are great. I love how all the deaths on 2fort are clustered in those sniper areas.

Matt Dec 11, 2007 06:47 PM

Yeah that's pretty hilarious. I never venture out in that area in 2fort, I'm always going underneath in the water to get to the others' base.

Adol Dec 12, 2007 02:06 AM

Observations on those statistics: Pubfags People don't give melee weapons enough love. BONESAW IS READYYYYY

I find it a bit weird that there are so many deaths in the first attackers' respawn on Dustbowl, since TF2 lets you change class without suiciding unlike old-school TFC.

Also, if anyone cares, I changed my name to It's Not Lupus. (period included in the name, much to the annoyance of game-monitor.com)

I think you may have to change your class inside the spawn area, otherwise, the character will commit suicide instead.

Freelance Dec 25, 2007 11:52 AM

Eh...you might as well add me to the list. I don't play much though and the only thing I do play is CS:S, but I suck at it.

It's one of those names I just choose randomly for fun only to end up using it 'cause I was too lazy to change it again.

Portal's amazing because it's different. A good kind of different.

It's not the best thing since sliced bread, but it's definitely good for what it does, a first-person (shooter) puzzle game.

Sakabadger Dec 27, 2007 11:44 PM

I'm not sure if this is anywhere in the thread, but can anyone tell me who *A-B*WanderingJin is? They added me to their friends list and I accepted, but I can't really recall who that is (though I've seen the name around).

Jinn Jan 1, 2008 04:47 PM

That'd be me. I just kinda started adding everyone from the GFF steam group to my friends list so it would be easier to see if anyone is playing.

Sorry about that!

Sakabadger Jan 2, 2008 02:15 AM

Ah, no worries. I just didn't recognize you because your steam ID in the topic post is a bit different.

Kitty Jan 2, 2008 11:58 PM

STEAM ID: rosagigantea

RacinReaver Jan 3, 2008 12:21 AM

Bet you've already done enough level grinding to be ahead of everyone else.

Little Shithead Jan 4, 2008 09:02 PM

Rockstar apparently made a deal to have a bunch of their games that had PC releases put on Steam.

So if you for some reason haven't played any of the GTAs, Max Paynes or Manhunt, you can redeem yourself now by buying them.

They currently have a bunch of bundles right now:

Max Payne Bundle ($14.95)
Max Payne
Max Payne 2

Grand Theft Auto Collection ($29.95)
Grand Theft Auto
Grand Theft Auto 2
Grand Theft Auto 3
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Rockstar Collection ($59.95 discount price of $53.95 until 01/11)
Grand Theft Auto Collection
Max Payne Collection
Manhunt
Midnight Club 2
Wild Metal

Supposedly there's some region locking right now, so it's possible people outside of the US could be getting less (or nothing at all) currently.

Sounds pretty worth it if you haven't played any of the games and want to on the PC. (It is worth noting that Rockstar offers GTA, GTA 2 and Wild Metal for free themselves if you just want those.)

Elixir Jan 9, 2008 01:01 PM

Can someone please tell me why the logging of your stats in TF2 is destroyed, it's annoying.

I know for a fact that I had, like, at least 20+ kills on a single sentry but it's only showing 8. It doesn't make sense because I even have the achievement.

I'm actually surprised there isn't a TF2 thread. There's one for the 360, but well you know.

That usually happens after steam does an update. A similar problem happened to me when I had the sentry achievement, but the next day or so it was gone, but I still had the sentry kill stats on record. There really isn't a way to get it back except redo it again especially when SPY'S SAPPIN MAH SENTRY all the time.

Meant to post here for ages, especially when I noticed a couple of people on the list played on the vidya servers. I think it was MervBurger and someone else.

lol that's lame because the portal: first slice is only a demo of portal and all the other things are already free items that you can get on steam >.>

RacinReaver Jan 13, 2008 11:05 PM

Just beat HL2 tonight, have to say I'm a little disappointed in the story development and all that stuff. Is it fleshed out a bit more in Episodes 1 and 2?

Also been playing TF2, enjoying it quite a bit, though I have to say I'm missing grenades quite a bit (and spies seem to be even more annoying now than before).

Slicky Jan 14, 2008 12:03 PM

The story does get a bit better during Ep. 1 and 2, although I haven't really finished Ep. 2 yet. You do spend a lot of time with Alyx though ;)

haha when I first started TF2 no nades were kinda odd, but I think it's better off this way. Really in TFC that was the only thing you used to kill, spam nades, especially when you're spamming them on respawns. No more conc jumping on dustbowl. Spies are beastly of friendly fire servers. Where do you play RR?

RacinReaver Jan 14, 2008 01:22 PM

I've just been hopping around to random servers. Only actually played four times so far, but now that I finished playing HL2 I might start playing TF2 a bit more. Any servers you guys have found to be really good?

Also, the other thing that keeps tripping me up is the medic's new weapon. A number of times I've charged into people hoping to poison them only to realize I just have that shitty needle gun. Then I'll just switch to the shovel and start slamming people. :p

We might be starting up a GFF game of TF2 soon if anyone wants to join. Come to the group chat room if you're interested.

Hopefully the "Last Five Posts" feature helps people see this.

Jinn Feb 23, 2008 11:35 PM

Sounds fantastic! I should be there soon.

StarmanDX Feb 23, 2008 11:39 PM

Ack. Well, we had a server until a moment ago. I don't know what we're going to do now.

Guru Feb 24, 2008 03:28 AM

My Steam ID is: Guru IQ

I have TF2 and Audiosurf.

Krelian Feb 24, 2008 05:54 AM

I got Audiosurf last night, and holy shit this game rocks and I can't even get high scores on obscure songs oh my god what the fuck.

My name's fnool on it (same as SteamID).

(you started that TF2 game an hour after I went to bed :()

Conan-the-3rd Feb 24, 2008 07:16 AM

Camcleod99

I have Portal and Goldeneye:source, that's it.

Rollins Feb 24, 2008 05:59 PM

You can find me with my creatively named Steam ID of Rollins. Just joined the group.

I've mostly been playing TF2 and Audiosurf recently, but I've been having fun playing older games with Steam as well.

Ah, there was TF2 action to be had? I'm down for the next round, if I happen to be around.

Lukage Feb 24, 2008 06:00 PM

Anyone care for some fun with Garry's Mod 10 tomorrow night perhaps? :D

Single Elbow Feb 24, 2008 07:28 PM

CobaltCrucible. But only playing Audiosurf.

IdleChill Feb 24, 2008 07:35 PM

Why am I not on this list. =o

IdleChill - IdleChill

Game's to catch me on~:

* Counter Strike <-- 3rd favorite.
* Counter Strike: Sage <-- 4th favorite.
* Day of Defeat <-- favorite.
* Day of Defeat: Source <-- 2nd favorite.
* HL2: Deathmatch <-- 5th favorite.
* AudioSurf (if you can count that...) <-- meh.

Matt Feb 27, 2008 10:00 PM

Hey gang.
If anyone wants to have admin over the group, hit me up with a PM. I'm a lot busy with school and work at the moment, but since we have enough members to organize a good sized event I'm thinking we need some people to post announcements and get the ball rolling.

So anyone that plays on Steam a lot and want to maybe communicate with the group via Group Announcements let me know!

Lukage Feb 27, 2008 10:03 PM

I nominate StarmanDX based on the number of times I see his name pop up on my task bar as playing a Steam game.

Jinn Feb 27, 2008 10:16 PM

I second that motion! Starman has some fine organizational skills if the Urban Dead thing we had going on a couple of years ago is any indication.

Immortal Feb 27, 2008 10:22 PM

Steam Name = ImmortalRane.

I only play CS/CS:Source though. Usually private pugs and such but I'm down for some deathmatch at times :)

StarmanDX Feb 28, 2008 04:06 AM

I'd certainly like to try my hand at it, but don't forget that we can have multiple admins if anyone else does as well.

I haven't been playing TF2 as much as of late, but the overhaul should revitalize my interest when it finally comes out. And maybe we'll get a weekly TF/CS/DM thing going on Fridays/Saturdays.

Matt Mar 1, 2008 06:57 PM

OK I'll set StarmanDX up with admin, but we can have more admins like he said, so if you want to help drop a line or something.

Grail Mar 1, 2008 07:20 PM

Mah Steam ID = Grail-ums

Not on too often, but every now and then I get a hankerin to play CS:S or TF2

Freelance Mar 2, 2008 02:04 AM

Oh, I guess it's time for an update. I have TF2 now and I just came back from a several-hour long session. It's quite fun. I'm getting to be much better at the game, with 26 points and two achievements ;3 Sadly I can't play during the weekdays.

Maybe someday I'll play with you guys :3

StarmanDX Mar 8, 2008 08:40 PM

Since we apparently don't have a general TF2 (aside from the Beta one) or Orange Box thread and I don't want to start a new one just for this, I'm putting these here (since it should interest most of us here anyways). First, an update from a couple days ago that I nearly missed:

Quote:

  • Removed sv_alltalk from the list of convars that affect custom server tags
  • Fixed Demoman grenades not hurting the shooter if fired at point blank range against a target

And the other, supposedly an email from Robin Walker of Valve noting the canning of the Medic Overhealer:

Thanks a bunch for the long & detailed feedback. It’s always great to get feedback with this amount of time & thought put into it. We’re still thinking about the relationship between the Pyro & the core combat classes, in particular that of the Pyro & the Soldier. We’ve tried a couple of things in our internal playtests, but haven’t found anything we like enough to ship yet. The recent update to the flamethrower with the audio cue played when you’re hitting an enemy seems to have been a good step.

No details on the Pyro’s unlockable weapons yet, sorry. We’re still focusing on the Medic, and the underlying system. Your fire axe will be happy to hear that the Overhealer didn’t work out as well as we wanted it to, and won’t be making an appearance.

Robin.

On the plus side a pyro buff would be nice, especially in pyro vs. soldier.

ID's Xilanne, but I only play Audiosurf. I don't know if that'll ever change. :erm:
