I think it looks cool... seriously like bringing an Anime to life in live action, without adapting everything to be "realistic." Seriously, Speed Racer was never realistic.

And, I mean, it's the Wachowskis. It's not like it's some Uwe Boll crap.

Matthew J Fox as Racer X seems pretty perfect. His head is the exact shape! =D

I must say that trailer looks cool. However, the tracks look like they could be in Wipeout, and not exactly Speed Racer, did the show ever have tracks like that?

To be honest, it doesn't look that bad...And did you see how Racer X and the Son of Sparta looked? Awesome.

Speed himself looks like a dumb shit, but I kind of expected Speed to look as retarded as he did in the anime. It's probably a stipulation in the contract to make the movie: "Make Speed look like a dumb cockface, like he does in cartoon! HAHA! HA! HAHAHA!"

The car flipping through the air in slo-mo made me laugh. It's so, gee--what's the term? Mona Lisa Overdrive. har har :tpg:

When they first showed the real-life version of the Mach 5, I thought that the movie was going to be grounded in reality. Now, the trailer has made me realize that Speed Racer is representative of an ugly and stupid racing game on the Wii.

I must say that this trailer is nothing more than a tribute to the current low-level metrosexual fashion (faster! harder! pinker!) hype

I really wish they keep more of the original music style, more cheesy the better, that's how it be authentic. :<

Just watched the trailer... and I have to say... I have NO IDEA what the hell was going on in there. Kinda reminds me of the Rollerball remake. :|

Actually it reminded me of a cross between a shitty PS1 racer and some bright as fuck Hot Wheels track.

Looks horrendous. Definitely not going to see it. It's rated G too. I suppose it's because its going to be a kiddie film. But it looks like a bad one at that.

Looks fantastic for 90 minutes of shallow "oh look whooshwroomkaboom" fun.
If you want anything else / more I don't think you'll be in luck here...

From the trailers I've seen so far, I'm kind of liking the look of this film. The style is definitely something different and I can see that it won't sit with some people, but I like it. I've also really enjoyed the music that's been used in each trailer. Certainly one I'll be keeping an eye out for.

Upon watching these new ones, it looks more like F-Zero than Speed Racer :(

This movie looks all sorts of nonsensical, but I'm definitely going to see it. I'm a simple-minded fuck who likes over-the-top action movies, as long as they look good/interesting. And I'm excited to hear the soundtrack as well. I loved The Matrix and Reloaded's soundtracks (don't exactly remember any music from Revelations since I liked that one the least), so I hope the W bros. get some equally awesome artists on Speed Racer.

I just got back from a showing of this, you'll find my thought at the end of this link, but the short version is: I thought it was awesome. Bright, silly, cool, fun and full of heart.

This is one I'll be picking up on Blu-ray when it hits for sure.

I agree completely, I'm not a big fan of the series (watched it when I was a little kid, but never religiously), but I thought the movie was a blast. I just can't understand a lot of the hate; the movie is about a kid named SPEED RACER that has a fucking fast car with superpowers, and girlfriend that flys a heli everywhere and his kid brother and monkey, who live in his trunk.

What did you seriously expect? As far as a good summer popcorn flick goes, this was as good as it gets for me. I enjoyed Iron Man, but not like I did Speed Racer.

It's the raping of childhood memories. RAPING!
Plus a nonsensical plot, evil computah effects, bad acting and a LIVE CHIMP! THE CRUELTY!!

But enough of playing devil's advocate.
I'm sure I'll enjoy the movie. What I've seen of Speed Racer was the remake-series, not even the original, and it never managed to be an ESSENTIAL part of my childhood. And even if it would have been... I loved the Transformers movie, even though it didn't stay close to the source material. I guess some people are able to see remakes and movie-versions as what they are, and others who cannot.
Just look at the douches dissing the new BSG for not being a gay Star Wars ripoff.

So, it's basically faithful to the source material.
