♪^___^♪ WINS!

Each day lasts 24 hours and begins at 10am. I’ll keep this thread updated with the latest scores, and at 10am every day (or close to it, depending on sleep/work) I’ll post everyone’s new tiles to bring their total back up to 14.

Remember:
-No picking up blanks this time
-POST YOUR WORDS IN CAPITAL LETTERS
-Post your moves/scores in the thread
-Letter/word multipliers only work for the first word(s) played on them (lots of folks made this mistake last game).

I’ll be checking scores/letters for accuracy. If anyone makes a word for which they don’t have the letters, or any other illegal move, they forfeit that turn, and I’ll take the letters off the board if no one has played off them yet.

Since this doesn't seem to have been mentioned anywhere, do we play in a set order, or is it first come, first serve? If it's the latter, what if two people decide to play at the same time?

Zergrinch Aug 13, 2007 08:54 AM

First come first serve, Monsieur Nicol. First to post, first to place.

Psst Tritoch, do you have an IOTA of BENEVOLENT? :D

You, sir, are a caked assaulter!

nuttyturnip Aug 13, 2007 09:13 AM

Zergrinch, stop suggesting words in the thread (or anywhere else). It was questionable last game, and since you're not even participating this time, it's just plain wrong. I'd better not see you throwing out words in #gfwerewolf either.

Face, there's no turn order. It's unlikely that 2 people could make the same move (i.e., block each other) because with Google Documents you can see the moves other players are making in real time. If you see someone lay down letters in the spot you wanted, you're out of luck. Last game, people seemed to pick different times to play, so I don't think it'll be a big problem.

No, you can space your moves out. Most people last game took them together, I think because they were using the first word to gain access to a better spot for the second word. Me, I'll wait if there's no great spot for my second word.

nuttyturnip Aug 18, 2007 09:04 AM

Letters are up for today. No vowels for me (I'll probably trade in some tiles later so I can actually make a word), and Juanzen's draw was pretty rough as well.

It looks like the last day of the game will be Monday, based on the number of tiles left. How would you guys prefer to end it?

Option 1: Same as Game 1; everyone gets unlimited turns to use up their remaining letters
Option 2: Players only get 2 turns (someone's bound to use up all their tiles)

Also, any changes you'd like to see for future games?

Franky Mikey Aug 18, 2007 10:59 AM

I like option 2 better.

Anyway. Today's bingo was not easily found, but seems to work.

MATELOTS (36)
JOINTED (32)
MA (6)
Bingo (50)

36+32+6+50 = 124

EDIT: forgot AL (2). The actual score is 126.

Zergrinch Aug 18, 2007 11:38 AM

I kinda like the Literati rule of penalising players for leftover tiles, and distributing those points to the player who used them all up.

Yeldarb Aug 18, 2007 12:27 PM

Sorry I didn't make a move last night. I completely forgot. :eagletear:

But anyway I'll make a move:

HABERGEONS: 102
ADOPTS: 18
BINGO: 50(yay, first bingo)

POINTS: 170
SCORE: 306

Also, I like option 2 better.

Smelnick Aug 18, 2007 12:39 PM

Clamjouster Aug 18, 2007 05:26 PM

ah well, couldn't do much with these

turn 1

NOW 12
DO 3
LAW 6

total 21

turn 2

HAS 3
AX 9
AXES 11

total 23

total for the day 44 wich is pretty bad considering how well the rest did, I just hope I get some vowels

nuttyturnip Aug 18, 2007 05:50 PM

Smelnick cannot make BEAUX because he only had one E (which he used to make QUEZAL). He forfeits that turn and gets no points. Since Juanzen played AXED off of the E, I left that letter on the board, but erased the AUX part.

For my first turn, I exchanged R-R-J-V-G-H-R-Q for N-[]-E-P-I-D-G-M.

EDIT: For my second turn, I played BEDEWING in the spot where BEAUX was for 57 points. I feel kind of awkward playing in that spot, since I just removed a word from it, but BEAUX was illegal, and if don't take the triple word score, someone else will.

Smelnick Aug 18, 2007 06:24 PM

Oh? Wierd. I guess I forgot to erase E from my list of letters after I put down my first word. Oh well, figures that I would make some kind of mistake while hungover.

The Plane Is A Tiger Aug 19, 2007 04:25 AM

I formed RESUMED (26) and NOG (12) for an underwhelming 36 points. Assuming my fuzzy math is correct, of course.

TheKnightOfNee Aug 19, 2007 08:41 AM

Don't start this next day until 10, I'm making two quick moves now. >_>

Additional Spam:
First move: MACADEMIA - 14 (double letter score on E and I, blank for an M)

Second move: SPUNKY - 29 (triple letter on P and Y)

Remaining letters - I

nuttyturnip Aug 19, 2007 10:39 AM

No worries, Sunday is my sleep-in day. Tiles are updated for today.

There are 54 tiles remaining, so tomorrow will most likely be the last day. I'll distribute the tiles as evenly as I can, and then everyone will have 2 turns as usual.

Franky Mikey Aug 19, 2007 01:00 PM

Second move: RAISIN - 8 (N on triple letter score)

This move isn't legal because it also forms VIMITATIVE, which is not a word. Turn and points forfeited.

I made P[R]IME (14) and PREDICT (39) as my moves today.

Yeldarb Aug 20, 2007 01:48 AM

I couldn't find much to use with my letter set.

FEYER: 22
BUTTON: 16

POINTS: 38
SCORE: 344

The Plane Is A Tiger Aug 20, 2007 02:00 AM

Whee, a low score night because I just want to get to bed! FOX should give me 26 points and 22 from ZA, for a total of 48 points.

nuttyturnip Aug 20, 2007 08:30 AM

Letters are up for today. I tried to distribute as evenly as possible, so that everyone would have plenty of letters for their final two turns. Because Smelnick and Tritoch have 14 letters (they only drew 3 letters each), they could still possibly earn a bingo bonus, but no one else can earn one.

TheKnightOfNee Aug 20, 2007 11:15 AM

First move:

VIDEO - 30 (double letter score on E, triple word score)

ES - 3

Remaining tiles: A-A-B-S-G

Domino Aug 20, 2007 11:18 AM

Added ZOIC and IVIED.

Scores to follow

IVIED = 9
ZOIC = 54

Total = 63

Letters remaining G

Franky Mikey Aug 20, 2007 11:24 AM

For my first move, added OX alongside IMITATIVE, making OX (25), AX (25) and TO (2) for a total of 52 points.

TheKnightOfNee Aug 20, 2007 11:30 AM

And my second move:

BAS - 10 (double word score)

JOKERS - 17

Franky Mikey Aug 20, 2007 11:35 AM

As for my final move (off HOPPINGS, right under FOX):
REPEL (14)
AXE (10)
FE (5)

Total: 29

Clamjouster Aug 20, 2007 11:36 AM

PUDDING
FINDER

24 points each it seems, and I used all of my tiles if I am correct doing this. That means 48 points for my final turn.

ctu Aug 20, 2007 02:17 PM

OK with the last of my letters I make the words

[Playing off a O] HILLOAING (15)
[playing off a G] YAGI (8)

and I used all my letters so thats a 50 point bonus

Total 15+8+50=73

Nope, you've still got a P left (not that it matters).

Nope, you only had 11 letters to start with, so no bingo for you.

I made MOON and PING today for a total of 24 points. Not trying real hard since I'm stuck in 2nd no matter what I do.

Smelnick Aug 20, 2007 09:57 PM

VARAS (18)
AB(4)

BURSAS (8)

Total is 30

The Plane Is A Tiger Aug 20, 2007 10:29 PM

I laid down WUD (18) and formed HUG (7) with a U. Not impressive moves by any measure, but it puts me 3 points above Smelnick. Can't hope for much more than that at this point.

Yeldarb Aug 21, 2007 12:37 AM

Well I didn't beat Juan but I would have if I hadn't missed that one move.

UNJOINTED: 32
YAK: 20

POINTS: 52
FINAL SCORE: 396

nuttyturnip Aug 21, 2007 08:53 AM

Final scores updated. Good game everyone!

I'm going to take this week off from Scrabble to focus on Risk and Werewolf, but as long as there's interest, I'll see about starting up Game 3 next week. I need to rest my brain.

ctu Aug 21, 2007 01:17 PM

Well I hope there is a game 3 it was pretty fun :D

Franky Mikey Aug 21, 2007 01:21 PM

Man it feels weird not having to think up a bingo today. :)

Thanks for hosting this, nuttyturnip. Everything seems to have gone smoothly and it was great fun! I'll definitely be up for more when the time comes (especially if Zergrinch is playing).

TheKnightOfNee Aug 21, 2007 07:00 PM

It defeinitely got hard to think up good words when the board was getting full. Pretty much anything will cross over one or two or three words. Still, it was fun. I'm looking forward to the next one.

nuttyturnip Aug 21, 2007 07:17 PM

Perhaps if I'll make the sign-up thread for Game 3 tomorrow. I'd like to start next Monday, and that'll give the thread time to get some visibility to attract more new players. I know Tritoch said he wouldn't be playing next game, and we only ended up with 9 players this game.

Zergrinch Aug 21, 2007 08:11 PM

If Tritoch says he won't be playing next game, then that means he will be playing next game!

The Plane Is A Tiger Aug 21, 2007 08:21 PM

No, I'm afraid this time it's true. Scrabble takes me far too much time, and now that I've got school to deal with again I just can't afford it. Maybe game 4 once I've settled into my new schedule, but I don't know.
