GFF MegaScrabble: Game 2
♪^___^♪ WINS!
Each day lasts 24 hours and begins at 10am. I’ll keep this thread updated with the latest scores, and at 10am every day (or close to it, depending on sleep/work) I’ll post everyone’s new tiles to bring their total back up to 14. Remember: -No picking up blanks this time -POST YOUR WORDS IN CAPITAL LETTERS -Post your moves/scores in the thread -Letter/word multipliers only work for the first word(s) played on them (lots of folks made this mistake last game). I’ll be checking scores/letters for accuracy. If anyone makes a word for which they don’t have the letters, or any other illegal move, they forfeit that turn, and I’ll take the letters off the board if no one has played off them yet. Since this doesn't seem to have been mentioned anywhere, do we play in a set order, or is it first come, first serve? If it's the latter, what if two people decide to play at the same time?
|
First come first serve, Monsieur Nicol. First to post, first to place.
Psst Tritoch, do you have an IOTA of BENEVOLENT? :D |
Is that allowed? :/
|
You, sir, are a caked assaulter!
|
Zergrinch, stop suggesting words in the thread (or anywhere else). It was questionable last game, and since you're not even participating this time, it's just plain wrong. I'd better not see you throwing out words in #gfwerewolf either.
Face, there's no turn order. It's unlikely that 2 people could make the same move (i.e., block each other) because with Google Documents you can see the moves other players are making in real time. If you see someone lay down letters in the spot you wanted, you're out of luck. Last game, people seemed to pick different times to play, so I don't think it'll be a big problem. |

Score update soon. EDIT ~ Score of 38. |
God, Face is going to trounce us. :(
HYDRATED: 32 POINTS: 58 |
By the way, do we absolutely have to make our two moves at the same time?
|
No, you can space your moves out. Most people last game took them together, I think because they were using the first word to gain access to a better spot for the second word. Me, I'll wait if there's no great spot for my second word.
EDIT: Umm...Yeldarb, you don't have a K, so you can't make MURKY. You forfeit the turn and the points for that word. EDIT #2: I made ZOOTY (34 points) and JAMS/ZA/OM/OS (54 points) for a total of 88 points today. Not bad without a bingo. I was waiting for someone to lay down an L so I could make JEZAIL, but no one did. :( |

Revolts(20) Used the S in the board Draft(18) Used the F in the board total: 38 that gives me a total of 38 points if I did the math right, not completely sure of what tiles I have left but I think it would be C-D-R-O, kinda dissapointing seeing how good the rest did, done for the day I guess I will try to cath up later. |
Just a note, the 'game board for spectators' link is linking to the wrong board, unless "FRANCEWILLNOTWIN" and "ZERGRINCHMUSTDIE" are playable words now (oh how I wish ZERGRICHMUSTDIE was a playable word :().

CAPILLARY - 32 (blank used for second A, double letter score on L, double word score on word)
DRAFTY - 13 (put my Y of CAPILLARY on the end of DRAFT) SHAVER - 24 (double word score, used the A of HYDRATED) Bingo - 50 Score - 119 points (I hope I calculated this right) |
Quote:
Also, I fixed the autopublish on the board. ZERGRINCHMUSTDIE is not legal (at least not this round). We should do an edition where all words must be GFF usernames. :p |
Alright. I play the word ATARAXIA for 68 Points, and I play the word AMBIT for another 20 points. This gives me a total of 88 points I believe. No bingo. so sad.

Blegh, I forgot all about this. I laid down LEVITATE[S] for 44 points and JOB for 24 points, giving me a total of 68.
|
Numbers are updated for today, which starts in half an hour. The letter gods have given us a few more Qs and blanks, and some other uncommon letters, which should make some interesting words. Someone lay down a U so I can make TURNIP.
ctu still has a turn left, if he takes it in the next half hour (he would use the letters in the first post, minus J-A-A-Q). |
SUICIDAL (84) (the score computator got that wrong since it's still adding word multipliers together instead of multiplying them)

|
You said to change SUM to PROD, but when I do that, I get all sorts of errors.
Truth be told, I haven't played with it that much, and since I check everyone's scores and know the flaw exists, it's not a huge deal. Fixed now. |

Words to follow. |
I made SPIFFIER for now, for 60 points. I'm still contemplating my second move.
Also, I fixed the score computator for multiples. |
Laid down OUTVOICE and H. The H make HA and AHA. Scores to follow.

I made NIECE for 30 points. I keep getting a server error when I try to update the detailed scores spreadsheet; at least the board seems to be working, so I'll try the scores again later. The first post is correct. Also, I updated the game board. To help things, I removed the blanks that have been played and put the actual letter in their place, but I made the letters italic and changed the font. When you play blanks, continue to put [], but I'll replace them as I see them so we can keep track of what each blank represents. |
Nutty, I suggest changing the background to black, to indicate that that tile has a multiplier of 0...

Awesome. I'm Third today. A little bit of fame for a little while. Well, off to work now to earn the bread. See you literate folks later.

The new letters are up for today, with some truly attrocious draws for some. Good luck!

TI (2) EM (6) [S]I (1) 48 + 2 + 6 + 1 = 57 points if I'm correct. One turn left, letters: H, S, O, A, A EDIT: ALOHAS (9) Bingo: 50 57 + 9 + 50 = 116 points for today. |

No, it's correct. You had a big word with a W and G, then multiplied it by 9.
Anyway, I played TROVE/MOONSHINER for 38 points, then TROVES/VISTA for 45 points, for a total of 83 points today. Like last game, I'm just playing for 3rd at this point. I draw the letters for Face, Nee (and Zergrinch) and think, "There's no way they'll get a bingo," then they go and do it anyway. |
Intriguing. Mr. 8 point word scored a 198-point whopper in the next move. Wonder what he does for an encore, and who was foolish enough to allow him to make such an audacious move :tpg:
|
To be honest, today's bingo was the easiest to find yet.
Not that it means a lot against a 198-point move... :gonk: |
It's official, this game hates me. What I am supposed to do with all those vowels?
|
At least you've got a few consonants (and I can think of a few words you can make, though none place on the board very well right now). Notice that jafrenette has no vowels at all.
|
SPARKING for 60 points I think,
OVER 14 points I guess the 2x applies on this one and the rest doesn't apply? correct me if I am wrong JO 9 points re 2 points ar 2 points 60+14+9+2+2= 87 total if I am not wrong tiles left EAEA, done. |
Added HEJIRA for a point score of 48.
EDIT: Added AQUAE for a point score of 36. AA also made for a point score of 2. Total = 86. Letter remaining O, I, Y, I |
I use the G in the upper right corner and I get
GOT (12) total also I connected to the d and I have OD (3) total [unless I can get the affect of the 2x letter score the D is on in which case it would be 5] |
Layed down PUMICE for 18 points(does the double count if the blank is on it? otherwise make that 8)
And then put down EXUVIA for 18 points. Total = 36(or 27 if the double didn't count) |
First move: building off of AQUAE
SEXTAIN - 45 (double letter score on S, triple word score) US - 3 (double letter score on S) AE - 2 EX - 9 59 points Remaining letters: U-I-I-O-M-Y-[] (oh god I don't know if I can bingo again today, I hate I's) |
Well once again, another slow day. :(
RUBBER: 24 SCORE: 86 I trade in O, I, U, and T. |
I'm tired and don't feel like finding a better word for a bingo, so here goes move two, placed near ATARAXIA:
YULE - 12 (E is a blank tile, double word score) AY - 10 (double word score) XU - 9 AE - 1 (E is a blank) 32 points total, remaining letters: M-I-O-I |
I added DE to HYDRATED for 38 points and laid down XYLOID for another 21 points. Provided my math is correct, that gives me 59 points for today.
|
New letters are up for today. KnightofNee got all the vowels, and I got all the consonants. :tpg:
I'm just glad we're not picking up blanks this game, because we've drawn a ton of them. |
JOUSTER (28)
HEJIRAS (17) OVERT (8) CLUBMAN (24) MA (3) AT (2) NA (4) Bingo bonus: 50 28 + 17 + 8 + 24 + 3 + 2 + 4 + 50 = 136 Not an easy draw today. :gape: |

Added EURO making EUROS, and added AERILY
Scores coming soon EDIT: EUROS - 7 AERILY - 28 TOTAL - 35 |
I just made HOMOZYGOSIS off of a double/triple word score, which nets me a total of 150 points. It's not 198, but it's close. Don't expect a great second move, since that used all my vowels and my blank.
Ok, please don't go back and edit your post 7 HOURS LATER (Juanzen), because I won't see your second move. I had to flip back through the board revisions to find it, and I hadn't given you credit for it in your score. EDIT: Juanzen, I updated your letters in the first post, since I didn't see OVER this morning. You lost O-E-R and gained G-[]-U. |
DISAVOW (14)
GIBES (10) JOB (12) RES (3) lol. first time I've managed four words in two moves. Wicked. Only 39 Points in total though |
I play off one of the "i's" on the board and I turn my [] into a L and I make
QUINIELA (18) |
For my last turn I made:

First move: building near DETERGENT TIME - 15 (triple word score) ET - 2 TI - 2 EM - 6 (triple word score) RE - 1 (R was an existing blank) 26 points |
Now I play the word JOKER (24)
|
Time to make my moves.

uggghhhhh
Second move: WOOING - 20 (double word score) letters remaining - a whole bunch of vowels |

First move of today: Buiding off of the N in HEROIN
REPENTANCE - 34 (triple letter score on an E, double letter score on another E, double word score) Remaining letters: A-U-A-Y-W |
I played INTEGRAL (36) and WEND for (32) a total of 68 points today. Also, if it doesn't cost a turn I'd like to swap one of my Us.
|
Swapping does cost you a turn :(
|
Second turn: building off of OUTWEIGHED
AH - 5 AW - 13 (triple letter score on W) WE - 13 (triple letter score on W) Total move: 31 points |
Letters are up for today. No vowels for me (I'll probably trade in some tiles later so I can actually make a word), and Juanzen's draw was pretty rough as well.
It looks like the last day of the game will be Monday, based on the number of tiles left. How would you guys prefer to end it? Option 1: Same as Game 1; everyone gets unlimited turns to use up their remaining letters Option 2: Players only get 2 turns (someone's bound to use up all their tiles) Also, any changes you'd like to see for future games? |
I like option 2 better.
Anyway. Today's bingo was not easily found, but seems to work. MATELOTS (36) JOINTED (32) MA (6) Bingo (50) 36+32+6+50 = 124 EDIT: forgot AL (2). The actual score is 126. |
I kinda like the Literati rule of penalising players for leftover tiles, and distributing those points to the player who used them all up.
|
Sorry I didn't make a move last night. I completely forgot. :eagletear:
But anyway I'll make a move: HABERGEONS: 102 ADOPTS: 18 BINGO: 50(yay, first bingo) POINTS: 170 SCORE: 306 Also, I like option 2 better. |

ah well, couldn't do much with these
turn 1 NOW 12 DO 3 LAW 6 total 21 turn 2 HAS 3 AX 9 AXES 11 total 23 total for the day 44 wich is pretty bad considering how well the rest did, I just hope I get some vowels |
Smelnick cannot make BEAUX because he only had one E (which he used to make QUEZAL). He forfeits that turn and gets no points. Since Juanzen played AXED off of the E, I left that letter on the board, but erased the AUX part.
For my first turn, I exchanged R-R-J-V-G-H-R-Q for N-[]-E-P-I-D-G-M. EDIT: For my second turn, I played BEDEWING in the spot where BEAUX was for 57 points. I feel kind of awkward playing in that spot, since I just removed a word from it, but BEAUX was illegal, and if don't take the triple word score, someone else will. |
Oh? Wierd. I guess I forgot to erase E from my list of letters after I put down my first word. Oh well, figures that I would make some kind of mistake while hungover.
|
I formed RESUMED (26) and NOG (12) for an underwhelming 36 points. Assuming my fuzzy math is correct, of course.
|
Don't start this next day until 10, I'm making two quick moves now. >_>
Additional Spam: First move: MACADEMIA - 14 (double letter score on E and I, blank for an M) Second move: SPUNKY - 29 (triple letter on P and Y) Remaining letters - I |
No worries, Sunday is my sleep-in day. Tiles are updated for today.

Letters are up for today. I tried to distribute as evenly as possible, so that everyone would have plenty of letters for their final two turns. Because Smelnick and Tritoch have 14 letters (they only drew 3 letters each), they could still possibly earn a bingo bonus, but no one else can earn one.

Final scores updated. Good game everyone!
I'm going to take this week off from Scrabble to focus on Risk and Werewolf, but as long as there's interest, I'll see about starting up Game 3 next week. I need to rest my brain. |
Well I hope there is a game 3 it was pretty fun :D
|
Man it feels weird not having to think up a bingo today. :)
Thanks for hosting this, nuttyturnip. Everything seems to have gone smoothly and it was great fun! I'll definitely be up for more when the time comes (especially if Zergrinch is playing). |
It defeinitely got hard to think up good words when the board was getting full. Pretty much anything will cross over one or two or three words. Still, it was fun. I'm looking forward to the next one.
|
Perhaps if I'll make the sign-up thread for Game 3 tomorrow. I'd like to start next Monday, and that'll give the thread time to get some visibility to attract more new players. I know Tritoch said he wouldn't be playing next game, and we only ended up with 9 players this game.
|
If Tritoch says he won't be playing next game, then that means he will be playing next game!
|
No, I'm afraid this time it's true. Scrabble takes me far too much time, and now that I've got school to deal with again I just can't afford it. Maybe game 4 once I've settled into my new schedule, but I don't know.
