Mobile Suit Gundam 00

Teaser Trailer: http://youtube.com/watch?v=otnXHBwJoNc

Things we know:
Directed by the FMA director.
Character designer does lots of yaoi/shounen-ai mangas.

I sure hope the series isn't shounen-ai or something but either way I'm counting on this to redeem the Gundam series after what we had to deal with with Seed.

chato Jun 2, 2007 06:36 PM

The characters do look original though. What I hated the most about seed (other than the boring story) was that all the characters looked too sharp and colorful for my taste. First a new Macross and now a new Gundam anime. I'm up for it as long as it doesn't turn out hideous like seed.

Other than that, it looks like it takes place 2307 but I got confused since it said double 00. So i assume it'll take place somewhere during the Universal Century timeline. Honestly I find the UC gundams more dramatic and crazy the AU series' of Gundams. They didn't suck though.

New Gundam TV series confirmed: Mobile Suit Gundam 00
A very short promo appeared after today's episode of TBS/MBS' "Toward The Terra" announcing a new Gundam series. Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (Double Oh) is set to air at 6pm on Oct 2007. The official site is up providing a streaming promo.

Known details are:
Setting - 2307 AD ("seireki", Japanese for "anno domini")
Characters - 4 Gundam Meisters, who pilot the mobile weapons.
Factions - Solestal Beings (not real sure on the English name right now), a private militia group whose purpose is to eradicate wars.
Tagline at the end of the commercial - "Rebirth begins through destruction"

Rumors about the series have been going around Japanese message boards for some time, especially after Sunrise registered several Gundam00 domains. The proclamation that the setting would neither be in the Universal Century of the original nor the Cosmic Era of Gundam SEED, as stated by Sunrise's Yasuo Miyakawa, seems to have been followed through with. Staff members are yet to be confirmed although the most persistent rumor is that the series will be directed by Fullmetal Alchemist's Seiji Mizushima.
http://h1.ripway.com/hikarub/g00_215x115.gif

The official site is supposed to have streaming but I can't seem to access it right now. As reported above it looks like it doesn't take place in the UC timeline either which makes me wonder if they're gonna create a whole new alternate timeline again...

DarknessTear Jun 2, 2007 08:38 PM

Yeah, forgot to mention it airs this October.

chato Jun 2, 2007 09:06 PM

I think ANN mentioned that the timeline will take place during our century. Dunno why cause I kinda prefer the whole cruelty behind the UC series but oh well. I can always give this new feel a chance. whoa I just noticed Yadate and Tomino aren't part of this nor mentioned by anyone.

And thanks for the info on the air date, DT. There are too many animes to catch up on and I don't even have the time for them @.@.

jouhou Jun 2, 2007 10:19 PM

Yay! new gundam!! High-five Hikarub. lol

The pilots look hardcore. haha. except the last guy with the red scarf. He looks a bit young..
I like SEED. The beginning is slow but the last half of the series is good.
SEED DESTINY, now that was poorly done.

Conan-the-3rd Jun 3, 2007 02:35 AM

Two Points: One, Scarfs are what Super Hero capes are to Japanese Tokusatsu heros.

Two, the "chick" in glasses, given gundam's histroy of females and gundam piloting, has a 90% or more chance of being a "trap" (As in, "Wait, she's a HE?!) like Wufei was.

MS Gundam 00 official press releases
From Sotsu Agency's official website, the press release for Mobile Suit Gundam 00, the 12th Gundam TV series and the first to be broadcast in Hi-Def. The premise is given as follows:

"The setting is Earth 300 years from the present day, in 2307 AD. The series depicts the protagonist, Setsuna F. Seiei, who pilots a mobile suit (Gundam Excia) for a mysterious private militia (Celestial Being), going against a whole world where conflicts never cease and the struggle to eradicate war."

Bandai Namco's press release says the first Gundam 00 plamodel, the 1/144 Gundam Excia, comes in September. Outside of Gunpla, expect a slew of merchandising including figures, candy toys, vending machine stuff, apparel, video games, mobile content, and DVD & video.

Some interesting talent for the new series. The director is pretty well known to most Anime fans (for Fullmetal Alchemist), but what about the others?

Yousuke Kuroda has done series compositions for Gungrave and Hellsing(OVA) to name but a few.

Yun Kouga is the artist for Loveless so we see where the character designs are related from. :o_O:

Kunio Okawara is the mecha designer for practiaclly every mecha franchise to come out of Sunrise and others, pretty much every Gundam show including SEED, and even Keroro Gunsou!! Take a gander yourself at ANN's page for Okawara Kunio for his profile. I guess he's done pretty much every single Gundam show on Earth! :gape:

How do you think this series will shape up? Still no word on who's doing the story...and no name came up for Music Director either...

From Gunota Headlines

Quote:

Gundam 00 site update
The official site updated with an outline & staff section. Nobuto Sue's name is added alongside Kenji Teraoka and Hitoshi Fukuchi to the list of concept designers. Also worth noting is Kunio Okawara is credited third as a mechanic designer, behind Kanetake Ebikawa & Takayuki Yanase. In Sotsu Agency's press release, Okawara wasn't mentioned at all, potentially indicating a reduced role for him compared to his level of participation in other Gundam series. The official site will formally open on July 10.

The story outline:
"2307 AD.

As fossil fuels became exhausted, humanity found a new energy source to change their situation: A large-scale solar power system with three enormous orbiting elevators. However, only a few large countries and their allies reaped the benefits.

Three superpowers had ownership of the three orbiting elevators: The Union, based in the United States Of America, The People's Reform League, made up of China, Russia, and India, and Europe's AEU. The superpowers continue playing a large zero-sum game for their own dignity and respective prosperity. Even though it is the 24th century, humanity has yet to become one.

In this world where war has no end, a private militia appears advocating the eradication of war through force. Each possessing a mobile suit Gundam, they are Celestial Being. The armed intervention by the Gundams against all acts of war begins."

Woa, they're following the economics of the real world for this show. That's pretty cool.
Damn, the site opens up next month. Such a long wait. I hope we'll get a peak at the suits before that time.

Prons Jun 13, 2007 08:07 AM

I will be skipping this one. Gundam has not been gundam since the DAWN OF THE NEW MILLENIUM.

Mucknuggle Jun 13, 2007 08:32 AM

Excellent! Gundam is usually great. I loved SEED and I hope they continue to produce quality shows.

What's this about a new Macross show?

hikarub Jun 13, 2007 01:27 PM

The clearest (so far) picture of the Gundam Excia, as found on Famitsu:

http://h1.ripway.com/hikarub/h-681_73028_g01.jpg.jpg

The forearms seem to house metal blades it seems....is that good?

Tons of pictures of figures and characters.

jouhou Jun 14, 2007 05:32 PM

Woa, thanks for the link DarknessTear.

That's a new and interesting design for the body. It circular in the front and back.

My favorite design out of them all would be Kyrios, the orange one. It's design isn't the usual gundam. It's got pointed shoulders and knees. That makes me think it can transform into an aircraft kinda like Seed Destiny's Savior. Its feet design looks kinda like xenosaga's E.S. so I think that is pretty cool.

RPG Maker Jun 14, 2007 07:08 PM

Even more excited to see the show this fall. Does anyone know how many episode this series will have?

chato Jun 14, 2007 07:33 PM

Wow. I see alot of simlarities in these gundams. They look great.

Gundam Exia (Setsuna's) - A variation of the Original Gundam piloted by Amuro Ray(Rei)

Gundam Dynames (Lockon) - Looks like a wimpy version of the Gundam Leopard (Robi Roy) without it's Gatling Gun.Still I want to see it in action.

Gundam Kyrios (Allelujah) - Looks like it's own design but it reminds me of the Wing Gundam (Heero Yui) with a few touch ups and the obvious orange color ^^.

Gundam Virtue (Tieria) - I think I'm going to like this gundam the most . It's a cross between Duo Maxwell's first Deathscythe Gundam and Anavel Gato's (Gundam 0083) Gundam Physalis.

Yeah I'm definately checking this out. SEED never caught my eye like the other Gundam animes. Double-0 somehow succeeds in that and that is an Important part of gundam. Now to worry about the story.

Rua Jun 14, 2007 08:30 PM

eee, I probably won't be checking it out. If they make another compilation movie of something, I'd prob be more interestered.

hikarub Jun 16, 2007 01:20 PM

Weird but I'm seeing a lot of SEED's designs in there, specifically those mobile suits that are almost identical to Buster and Aegis.

o_O

Marina Oct 6, 2007 11:27 AM

So the main female this time is Marina Ismail, isn't it?
It's funny that she has the same name as my user name and about my age ...........anyway.....she don't look distraction and quite not well design, lol.
Anyone watched it yet?
Hopefully it won't turn to be something crappy like SEED destiny.

chato Oct 7, 2007 04:50 AM

The way I see it, anything is better than SEED.

- Music : The opening was done by L'arc en Ciel which is pretty awesome since I haven't heard from them for a hot minute. It reminds me of zeta gundam op 2. Ending theme isn't bad at all. As for the bgm, it's proof enough that I'll have something original to listen to. Who's responsible? Kenji Kawai :).

- The first minute starts you off with a little boy who's fighting all alone against the enemy until a gundam shows up and of course, predict the obvious. What's going to bother me is that annoying brat (you'll see).

- As far as design goes, I find it more different than SEED's since each character don't share huge eyes but a few female characters. Not a bad thing! ;p

In short : I like it so far. You be the judge

Gundam00 Episode 1 - Celestial Being!

Yggdrasil Oct 7, 2007 05:18 AM

After watching the first episode, I'm kinda iffy about this...
Spoiler:
The main character, even in the first episode, is shaping up to be another crazy emo kid who we will all wind up hating, just like the kid from Seed Destiny

Also, I'm sure this has been brought up before, but whats with some of the parallels I'm seeing between Gundam 00 and FMP? Main characters were both soldiers at a young age. Both series have a light-hearted sniper on their respective teams. And both belong to a non-aligned private army. And some would argue that new propulsion system on the Exia draws some comparison to the Lambda Driver. Who knows, maybe these are just things that a very commonplace and it just so happened that Gundam 00 put them all together.

Other than that though, interested in seeing how this whole Celestial Being thing pans out. And whats with the ugly propulsion system on the back of the Exia?

Oh! And that girly purple haired dude (who also happens to be carrying what looks like a big bag purse in the ending credits)? I mean I know there is a tendency to create certain characters with feminine traits, but that character's design takes it a tad bit too far, by that point you might as well just made the character female. Rather disturbing, wonder whats going through that character designer's head.

Also, coming off of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann's galaxy sized proportions, all these mechs seem disappointingly small.

Karasu Oct 7, 2007 06:44 AM

I havent watched any anime in ages, because normally i'm against it. However, i've been in a rather major mecha mode *points to my av*, and I do like Gundam for their mech designs. So after seeing the first eps. I must say it's not bad at all. I didn't see Gundamn SEED, and this is the first gundam series i've seen since G Gundam. Overall, I like it so far, I hope it gets better.

The yellow orb thing is gonna be obnoxiously cute, you watch.

I thought Shin from SDestiny would fit the same description only Setsuna didn't get into the cockpit like he did in the first episode (i think). Did you notice Setsuna's Gundam looked a little like the original Gundam from a far away distance?

Also. Good to see a gundam (I think it was Dynames) attacking from below! Haven't seen one since 08th MS Team's Eledore ;)

jouhou Oct 7, 2007 10:21 AM

#1 - I thought for sure the purpled hair person was going to be a girl...
#2 - Funny how the voice for the "main" pilot happens to be kira (death note) not kira (seed)
#3 - So far nothing special but I'll keep watching.

Ahh, upon second review of this thread I catch this particular detail, which would explain the purple haired she-man. But with this new fact in mind, this is Gundam, this isn't shounen-ai manga-to-anime time. So now the question is, what was going through the head of the guy in charge of hiring these people thinking when he hired the character designer.

You know, now looking back I can see where this parallel would come from. But I think if you did a comparison, Wufei looks like a manly man compared to this new guy. At least Wufei dressed the part of a man, which is something this new character can't even claim(watch the ending credits, not the suit he wears while piloting).

I wouldn't be surprised if maybe a few of them were, speaking of FMP, when in hell are we going to see The Third Raid/3rd real season of that show come out god damnit?! Also did anyone else think that the gundam in the opening scene flying there in that pose and with that sparkly crap flying out of its back look absolutely ridiculous?

Yea, no clue is to when it's coming out. So I'm pressuring myself to not watch the 2nd raid until further notice on the 3rd season ;p.

As for the sparkly aura shit coming out of it's back. It's no different than Turn A Gundam's. seriously ;p.

YouTube Video

Go to the 50th mark. A solid opening but I couldn't finish the series.. Those were the days though. Bandai pretty much sucks for not gaining license to this or other shows like Gundam X.

Firefly Oct 8, 2007 12:35 AM

A friend and I were discussing this series (briefly) and agreed that it would be one hell of a twist were this 'Celestial Being' to turn out to be the unknowing stalking horse of that world's analogue of SPECTRE. It's a simple plan, really:
  1. weaken various governments and transnational corporations;
  2. take advantage of the resulting vacuums to slip in your own puppets;
  3. dispose of the 'stalking horse';
  4. Profit!
To which yet another colleague replied, "Ironically, you'd see that plotline in SRW before a 'serious' Gundam program."
On a completely different note, it occurs to me that an MSG take on Kelly's Heroes might be very interesting indeed. After all, the Principality of Zion's Zabi family were wealthy, especially after their successful raid on Earth's resources (early in the One Year War). But Side-3 (Zion) the colony has been pictured as ridiculously below the poverty line in later series (especially in Char's Counterattack). So, where did all that money go off to?

kouji Oct 8, 2007 01:01 AM

It took me a little while to get used to the new Gundam designs, but other than that, this one might be the next big Gundam series ever. Hopefully, they will be able to keep up with the quality and the good flow of the story.

LS Oct 8, 2007 06:24 PM

I really liked the animation so far, and the soundtrack is just amazing.

The newer gundam designs we're pretty good except for the big hulking gundam (i forgot who used it, must be lockon)

For some unknown reason, the voice of Kira(Deathnote) doesn't actually fit his character, I can't see a tiny boy like that speaking in a very large broad voice.

Don't quote me on this, but I'm sure Kurz Weber Lockon was the sniper on the ground and the one with the Haro. The one that was big and bulky I think was the purple haired she-man, as ironic as that is.

HCM Pro figures for Exia and Dynames are already out, with Kyrios and Virtue being released pretty soon. FG kits are out already, HG versions will be available soon too. They're even coming out with 1/100 scale models of Exia and Dynames!!

wilflare Oct 11, 2007 02:35 AM

anyone know who's the character designer? is it the same person who did SEED?
but the new models look pretty sweet though.
caught episode one today. (slow xP) but the animation quality is smooth (but guess cause it was the first episode)

hope there's no colony drops this time round xP
the orbital transport looks like a likely target for colony drop Oo

hikarub Oct 15, 2007 05:10 AM

Well, so far there's no mention of any colonies so there might not be any in this series. I guess there could always be sabotage to one of the orbital elevators though.

Which group is everyone following? I saw Nyoron's fansub in the beginning but it seemed a bit off in some places. Now Mendoi have stepped up together with Conclave and their first episode has been a big improvement so I'll probably be sticking with them from now on. Mendoi previously did an awesome job on bringing us Gundam SEED Destiny as Hiro-fansubs, so for this series I would prefer to follow them.

Plus - they give the choice of downloading the 344mb HD version or the smaller 170mb version. The HD version is awesome for home because I usually use my 27" HDTV when watching anime. But I take my anime to work sometimes and the screens there are kind'a crappy, so the smaller version is good (what a geek).

Now just waiting for Mendoi-Conclave's episode 2!!

little off topic but

I would usually watch the HD versions in my ps3 and it looks a helluva lot better there (44" hdtv) than my monitor ( HP 22" widescreen). Either way, I think I need a new video card cause it freezes for 2 seconds then comes back and I don't want to force it =/. So the ones I download from are a noname group who provides it as an mp4 (still hd quality with no fuzzy pixels or anything). Can mkv files work in ps3's as well? If you have one that is ^^;

jouhou Oct 15, 2007 08:27 PM

I'm getting from GundamSnet. I'd get conclave but every time I get something in mkv the subs are always overlapping or something else is wrong so I stick with avi. I'm still expecting some groups to pick this up and depending on who, I might switch.

Btw, Episode 02; From 17:21 - 17:27: That move was HOT!

Nah, I tried it but .mkv files do not work on the PS3. I guess at the moment you can only play MP4 files for movies. But using my computer is fine for me. I just connect my laptop to the HDTV and play it. It looks awesome!

Xellos Nov 1, 2007 03:25 PM

Certainly a interesting series. I really hope that Graham turns out to be a Zechs Merquise type character. The series certainly reminds me of gundam wing more then any other Gundam series so far, so I wouldn't be surprised.

He seems to have the type of personality to become like him. All he needs now is a mask and we're good to go.

Bradylama Nov 1, 2007 09:21 PM

After being shit all over by the flaring asshole that was Seed Destiny, I'm really glad this show has so much potential. I'm hoping that it'll turn the whole pacifist ubermensch meme on its ear. That's mostly the reason Turn A Gundam has been my favorite show.

Kamui Nov 24, 2007 04:05 PM

So far it's all right. But the obvious fanservice is rather killing my drive to watch this serie.

spikeh Nov 30, 2007 12:14 PM

The first few episodes felt too disorganised, it lept from one frame to another far too quickly. Now that the story's getting more coherent, with the different factions focusing on one event at once, I'm quite enjoying it. I do like its attempt at fusing social and political ideas, even if it's amusing at best.

Yeah, I know what you mean a part of me wants to enjoy this series, but having characters like Louise who are ridiculously over moe makes me wonder if I'm watching this for fanservice, or if I'm actually enjoying it.

The other thing that makes me not want to watch this series and the thing that ruined Seed Destiny for me is characters like Setsuna, and Shin Asuka who just piss me off, like it was alright when they made that emo as hell Heero Yuy, but that was only because there weren't that many of his kind around when Wing came out. Setsuna just sucks ass. We need MEN, people we can look up to like Kamina, or grown up Simon, or Master Asia, or Domon Kashu, or Char Aznable, or Mu La Flaga. Not these pretty boy bitches.

I totally agree with this. These emo-like characters are just not an enjoyable part of watching a series, such as one of a Gundam variant. I can already discern that the emo-like fellas are going to have all these stupid mental problems in the middle of a fight. Then they're going to crack and go insane doing some flashy fancy gun show or massacre by melee. All just to show off the idea that if you mess with these guys, you're going to unlock their super sayian(?) power.

Kamui Dec 1, 2007 02:07 PM

Episode 08 wasn't that thrilling... The manner how they solve worldwide terrorism made me laugh so hard.

Fanservice is getting worse. I sincerely hope the series will get better

Kimchi Dec 1, 2007 02:43 PM

Uh so far I only got epi 1 since its sub's release date. Anyone know any direct links?

Bradylama Mar 13, 2008 03:37 AM

Bumpin dis to bring up the update. Long story short: shit's getting real. The playing fields are leveling out, and sure they're doing the same "oh the good guys are actually bad guys" bit from Seed Destiny's playbook, but it's worth it to see Gundams taken down a notch. (really)

Spoiler:
When it rains, it pours, and it's poured down hard on that Japanese kid. I don't remember his name since he seemed like such a throwaway character, but one of the new "fake gundam" pilots blew up a party his girlfriend's parents were attending for no apparent reason (fucking lame) but it kills mumsy and takes off the girlie's hand (pretty sweet). Now his sister has been murdered while investigating Celestial Being, and with a background in engineering, I hope to God this kid becomes a Gundam killer. They've been building him up for the majority of the first stretch now, with almost no indication whatsoever concerning what his role will be.

I still like all of the American and HRL guys a shitload more than any of the Gundam league, but that's been par for the course for the great majority of Gundam shows anyways, and they've gotten plenty of airtime to prove their mettle since this thread died 3 months ago.

hikarub Mar 13, 2008 04:13 AM

Is it getting any better or getting worse? Kinda lost interest and dropped the show after episode 10 or 11 (can't remember now). I've been hearing how it's supposed to have picked up immensely after episode 18 or 19.

Well, I guess I'll let it go....

Bradylama Mar 13, 2008 10:11 AM

It's gotten better in the sense that it's just more interesting. Shit hits the fan and the Gundam pilots are taking a lot of bloody noses. It's a nice change of pace from Seed when they were all nigh indestructible because goddamn that could hurt model sales.

If they can keep up this momentum like they did in the first Seed without relying on plot lines from old series it'll be pretty good.

Sonus Mar 16, 2008 10:17 PM

Getting better or worse is to be decided by which faction viewers are favoring more of.

Spoiler:
For the fans of the faction(s) in which the gundams work for, it's getting a little better with one group, but a little worse with the other.

For the earth based military faction fans, it's gotten much better.

However, I am starting to think the anime itself is getting a little worse. Spoiler time!

Spoiler:
The event to trigger some kind of climatic change in the struggles between gundam interventions and the earth based militaries was certainly needed. But the fact that the event became something stupid like, "Oh, we managed to get top secret information on engines that work like the gundams. Let's make our own gundams and kill their gundams. Haha, victory is mine!" LAME. BORING.

I guess in one sense it can be somewhat understandable that the playing field was balanced in this way. In the sense that the only scientist who was studying the gundams immensely had ended up dying by the Trinity group. But then again, it's an example of another flaw in the anime's story/plot. Why only one scientist working on learning how the gundams work? Why not a whole team of them? Why not a whole faction with some secret underground base experimenting and learning of not only the gundams, but perhaps even inventing new tech to outfit their faction's mobile suits? Could these 3 earth based groups have really been THAT preoccupied with each other's existence? Not even one window of oppurtunity(?) arose for people to think, "Wait, HRL (or whoever) have a guy working on understanding the gundams? We should kidnapp him! Or get our own research team! Or kill him!" But noo, it's ended up being, "God, if I can capture a gundam, I'd be god amongst my subordinates and peers! They'd all bow down to me!"

Don't view unless you saw the latest episode releases or don't care about spoilers!:
Also, Aeris dies two Trinity pilots die/are-severely-wounded.

The way the anime is progressing now makes me think it's going to end soon. It seems it's being buttered up for that "epic" finale that ends in certain kinds of revelations and realizations in which will end the conflicts and the need for mobile suits.

If I believe correctly, Sunrise, the studio that is producing Gundam 00 is doing what they did with Code Geass, that is to split up the series into two seasons. So in a sense Season 1/Part 1 is coming to a close and it will have its own 'finale' kind of setting (just as Code Geass' season 1/part 1 did). I'm told for Gundam 00 episode 25 or something is going to be last for this season, season 2/Part 2 will pick up in October.

Hence the reason why the series feels like it is coming to a climax finale episode. Although, honestly there are just so many loose ends at the moment, its simply way too early
Spoiler:
1) In a previous 00 episode, when Lockon goes to his parent's grave we were shown another Lockon-look alike, and in ep 23 in his final moments he mentions the world will be better for 'Lyra.' Needless to say, who is this guy and what role will he play will have to be answered.

2) Professor Aifman (sp?) of Union was close to realizing what CB's true aims where before he was promptly annihilated by the Thrones, and whatever Aifman stumbled upon we still weren't shown.

and, 3) Saji, his girlfriend only has one hand and his sister is now dead, surely he must serve some purpose other than to make us pour pity on him, I'm quite sure he'll have some pivotal role in the far future.

Bradylama Mar 17, 2008 03:29 PM

He's the next Gundam Killer, I'm tellin ya.

Sonus:
Spoiler:
The three power blocs got the GN drives because of information disseminated from the cabal, or at least that's what I got out of it. It's still pretty lame that nobody at the highest levels seems to question how they got the information or why they all got it at the same time.

A finale would be the perfect vehicle for Saji's character development, since the break in seasons can also constitute a break in time. The show can start back up later in the future when he's an engineering marvel.

Commentary on ep 23:
Spoiler:
Lockon Stratos was the most well-adjusted Gundam pilot, so of course he ends up the first to die. I have very little reason to root for Gundams now.

Yggdrasil Mar 30, 2008 04:37 AM

Finale is out and... uh wow

Spoiler:

So whats-his-face finally comes out with his pimped out Flag, and also gets owned by Setsuna. But the events of the episode aside, simply the ending alone is a treasure trove of speculation.

- Livonze/Ribbons is now the shadowy mastermind of some new group, got himself some new lackeys too.

- Saji looks like he is on some kind of deep spacecraft. Possibly heading to Jupiter? the flashback episode showed that derelict ship in Jupiter's orbit, possibly we could see some kind of connection here.

- The princess's adviser evidently is leaving?

- Ali evidently isn't dead, nor is that Flag pilot (who is now masked, surprise there?). Both men seem incredibly pissed off.

- Tiera isn't dead (at least a Tiera look-a-like), and is now coworkers with Louise?

- There is evidently a new Gundam being created and is currently undergoing testing. Meanwhile we're shown the first gundam to field a GN drive (which sounds like its going to be brought back?)

- Neena is now evidently part of CB (for reals this time). And her eyes are multi-colored now too.

- Exia has been salvaged. I would have to wonder, does that mean Setsuna is alive and kicking around somewhere?

Xellos Mar 31, 2008 09:57 AM

Hah! I so saw it coming.

About Graham:

Spoiler:
It was pretty obvious that he was going to wear a mask at some point. Throughout the whole series I kept thinking about how much he reminds me of Zechs Merquise from Gundam Wing. He has a pretty similiar personality and obsession with gundams, so this is pretty cool.

A tad disappointed how the final fight with the Flag turned out...

I've got to disagree. For once, Bandai didn't insist that a new mobile suit get a bunch of face time to push model sales, and actually sent it in from the get-go for a bareknuckle robot brawl. This finale honestly exceeded all of my expectations, I never expected it to be this good.

Sonus Apr 6, 2008 11:30 AM

I want to say the ending battle was good, but was also bad.

Spoiler:
The fight between Setsuna's Exia and Graham's Flag was just weird for me. Firstly, I guess it can be understandable that they can slice through each other so easily like that since they're both wielding similar level technology. But that does not change the fact that the gundams are made of better material than what the earthbound nations ever could know about. /flashback to first attempt to capture gundams. They couldn't saw open Kyrios' cockpit hatch.

Although, it may be debatable that because the armament tech was leveled enough that Graham's mobile suit had the power needed to slice through gundams.

Secondly, way too overly dramatic for me. Just that last fight sequence. "Oh yeah, you hit me? Well I hit you! Oh, another hit? Here's one from me!" God, that mechanic is soo overly used that it disgusts me now. Hey look, we are the evenly matched! lolololol!!!1111!

Thirdly, I want to say that fight sucked soo much because of the whole "we're on par with each other" idea. But then the entire series would be so lacking of that kind of detail if it didn't happen. We'd be back to the whole side B is greater than side A fact without any room to question the potentials of side A.

So, I don't know what to make of the ending. I just don't know!

Xellos Feb 7, 2009 09:21 PM

Anyone else waiting for Menclave to get off their ass and start working on Gundam 00 again? They're 7 episodes behind already. ;_;

Bradylama Feb 7, 2009 09:55 PM

Menclave sounds secretly homosexual, maybe why they're... BEHIND!?

nabhan Feb 10, 2009 04:06 PM

Is the series supposed to wrap up at 52 episodes?

It's the only anime I've been watching, and it seems like there are a lot of loose ends to tie up.

Xellos Feb 16, 2009 10:21 PM

Pretty much every Gundam series ends up at around 50 episodes.

Season 1 was 25, so I would assume it be 50 as well for 00.

Miho Feb 16, 2009 11:22 PM

It's getting good. Looking forward to episode 19.

Xellos Feb 17, 2009 11:02 PM

What fansub are you using? Because I pretty much had it with mendoi, they're releasing stuff nobody gives a shit about and they're already 8 episodes behind.

Tails Feb 18, 2009 02:08 AM

S2 is being done as a joint project by gg and BSS under the tag gSS. They usually get it out about a day after the show airs and the subs are pretty good. I'd go with them.

Shinsen-Subs is excellent. They released episode 19 today. I'm about to watch it now.

Kamui Feb 21, 2009 09:20 AM

Is it worth watching the 2nd season?

Tails Feb 21, 2009 09:41 AM

If you liked the first one yeah. It's more of the same, though the tech wars aspect has been stepped up noticeably (I blame Geass for that shit), but not to the point where it'd make you want to bail out on the series.

Everyone is better save for Saji. He sucks a lot (more) this time around.
