Level System?
 

I am kind of new here, and I have a newbie question. I am little confused as to how the post levels work for this board. It seems that every time that I post, I get fewer points added to my level count than I did for my previous post. Can someone please explain the system to me?

The more you post and level the more posts are then required to reach the next level than the previous one. Of course the VB mod itself has a formula for this.

I wouldn't post just to level up otherwise you might get some ban stick lovin'. Post levels don't mean squat round here you don't win any prizes or club memberships, although for some it gives their raging e-penis a hard on.

I hear it's a REALLY good hard-on.

Oh, I didn't mean that I was going to do that. I was going to get a feel for the rating system by monitoring my own progress, but it puzzled me when my number fluctuated semi-erratically.

The reason that I asked was that I like to familiarize myself with the board rating system whenever I join a new forum. This way I know what the pecking order is and I will have a lower chance of stepping on any toes. >_<

If you wanna take that route I guess I was the John Holmes of this place at one point considering I had more posts than our current top six combined.

Seriously though, it's amazing how many questions we've gotten about the leveling system over the years.

I'm actually surprised someone asked about it now. The board got alot of them when the bars were still around.

I remember that, then (I think it was Skate, I dont know) whoever just went ahead and gave you 65,665 posts =P.

Oh the level system. Can't remember why that was removed. The MP bar had a ridiculous formula. You be posting all day and that thing will still drop.

It was removed because, as repetitive as the questions about the level system are now, the were worse when people had HP, MP, and XP bars, so not only did people repeatedly ask how all 3 worked, they wondered why they couldn't use those stats to fight each other "like I can on ClOuDiRoThXxX's RPG FUNHOUSE".

And they were butt ugly and huge.

But besides the various characters we've had, it's probably one of the more notable Gamingforce trademarks. <.<

Boards had variations, GFF had a whole complicated system to it. Hell, the RPG bars are kinda what drove me to stay and post from day to day.

besides I know How big I am and I don't care if my level don't show that because I think it would make me look like I was compensating for something (like our top posters are doing)

I'm #7 now, though I was #1 for a long while.

But don't think this is my saying that postcount matters (or levels). It really doesn't. A lot of our better members are low-level and actually hang out in chat a lot more than they post.

I don't even know how I'm position 6. I really talk about games way too much.

Also Sasso's right, I don't like forums that have post count showing visibly. A lot of people seem to think a hih post count means something over just general conversation and making proper use of a forum.

At least someone here sees the light. On another board I go to, there's three members with over 10k posts. About 75% of their posts are either one worded posts or a smiley. Nobody there can spark a decent conversation either.

It's just pathetic that post count matters that much to some people.

Ok, so what are the level titles nowadays? All I seen is carob nut.

How do you do that? The part where you're so allknowing about the reason our current top posters are at the top? Hell, our top two posters don't have to compensate for a damned thing, they're two of the most community orientated (maybe that's where the posts come from!) people in here and I wouldn't trade them for thirty of you.

That's awesome Acer. I actually extended that first list to the point of Zeio nut. Skate had a great idea with the "bonus" custom titles. Apparently he even dedicated one to me (post 2015).

It's her not-so-forward way of insulting people in the top 20 she doesn't like. Though it does make you wonder what exactly constitutes a person being a member since anyone that spends 90% of their "GF time" in chat isn't really a member. Puff? Aya? Icetron? They're long gone.

So from what I gather from all this discussion: The important people around here are the ones who insist that they are important. ;)

The Streets were a little later in 2002. But I was being completely facetious when I made that remark, I don't actually take that seriously and still wonder how it started.
