I dunno, most of these games either shit or old. Decent deal if you haven't picked up Final Fantasy XII (though I imagine most everyone that wanted to already has done so), but not really a whole lot else.

The 2GB SD card for 20 bucks is a decent deal, though. I may pick one up.

Well I have not yet (I rented it at one of them online game rental sites and beat it fast, but I might want to buy a copy of the collectors edition

Grawl May 26, 2007 03:46 AM

I would like the King's Quest collection for that price. Why do I live in Europe? :(

Elixir May 26, 2007 04:15 AM

Everyone should by law own Phoenix Wright. And the Castlevania: Aria & Harmony 2-Pack for $15 is an extremely good deal. I thoroughly enjoyed playing through Aria of Sorrow and it was the first Castlevania game I fully completed. (I sorta went from Aria, forwards and then backwards.) ;_;

Final Fantasy XII: Exclusive Collecter's Edition <- Is this the one with the tin box and extra dvd? If so I'd jump at that FIRST THING. Although every man and his dog probably has a copy, it's still really cheap.

Also Chromehounds is the best deal out of the entire list. Providing you have a 360 though. General Badass is right though, there's a LOT of games listed there, and 98% of them are crap.

If I was in america those would've been my purchases.

Infernal Monkey May 26, 2007 04:22 AM

Hey five bucks for Wumble Woses is pretty good. You can listen to the erotic eighty year old granny voice actor make moaning noises for the on-screen teenage girls wrestling in mud! "UNHAND ME, OOOOOAAAAAUGGGH MMMMM, NOOOO I need a weak cup of teeaaaaa"

BlueMikey May 26, 2007 04:26 AM

Nothing there I see that really jumps out at me. I do wish I hadn't bought the Starcraft Battle Chest recently, now.

Sousuke May 26, 2007 11:24 AM

Wow, some really great deals in there. :o I wonder if ours has any Phoenix Wright in stock...

I don't see why you'd buy FFXII now when you've waited this long when you know it should take a price dive to $20 soon enough.

Thinking about buying Musashi: Samurai Legend since the first one was so amazing and this is just $10.

It also looks like this sale might be online since a few of the prices I've looked at matched up. Also looks like it is the metal-case edition of FFXII, though I don't really see any worthwhile freebies with it to make it a worthwhile buy: http://www.ebgames.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=281613

I don't have these two yet so I'll probably swing out there today AGAIN hoping that they have a copy of Odin Sphere available as well. A pair of wireless PS2 controllers for $20 doesn't sound too shabby either.

yeah, but whats the likelihood of getting the Final Fantasy XII: Exclusive Collector's Edition when it goes down?

Considering that it's as widely available as every other Final Fantasy game available now... Pretty likely. :eye:

I thought they were trying to get rid of the last copy's by lowering the price of it. Heck I thought it was a limited time thing so I am a little serprised they still have any copy's left.

RacinReaver May 26, 2007 12:04 PM

Just noticed there's accessories on the list too, and the dual pack of PS2 wireless controllers for $20 doesn't seem too bad since both of my controllers are having issues nowadays. I wish it was a 1 for $10 deal, though, because I'd be all over it then.

There's also two Guitar Hero controllers on sale for $40, but they're both third-party and I'm not really too sure how I feel about dropping that kind of money on an accessory where it really needs to be top notch quality to keep the game enjoyable. =/

Edit: If you didn't buy the Collector's Edition when it came out, then you're probably like me and don't care about the junk they throw in and just want to play the game for being the game, so having a metal tin to keep your CD in doesn't really do much (especially since I keep all my games in a CD wallet anyway).

Well I agree with you on the wireless controler issue I would have loved just one of them

as for FFXII I just did not have that kinda extra money to trow around for that game (I don't remember, but I think I was more interisted in getting xenosaga III at the time)

Skexis May 26, 2007 12:35 PM

For an extra $120 off on top of the $45 in credit I already have, I'd say my time to own a PS3 has come.
Hopefully they'll make this an annual thing, which will make at least one time out of the year when their deals don't suck ass.

The Plane Is A Tiger May 26, 2007 12:42 PM

If for some insane reason you don't have Phoenix Wright yet, you should check out Circuit City instead. Mine had 2-3 copies in a clearance bin for $15 last week. I was sorely tempted, but I don't think they sell for much on Ebay anymore.

Chaotic May 26, 2007 01:18 PM

Yeah, I think they're mass producing the first one again...

Anyway, is Musashi really that good? There's a billion of them at the Gamestop near me. And they have 20 copies of PW:AA also.

Don't.

Trust me on this. It's a huge letdown considering how good the first one was.

As for Chromehounds, it's turned into a game populated almost entirely by the hardcore fans these days. And trying to get into it now will take a fair bit of effort. That's just a warning to people interested. It's still a great game and all, though. And there's still that new patch that recently-ish came out and changed mechanics enough that a lot of people quit and so forth, so there's still a chance, but it won't be as easy to get into as it used to be. (Lix, have you even played it before?)

Where are you getting the "120 off" thing? Are you essentially just counting all the game trade-ins you're going to do?

I mean, I'm interested in picking up a PS3 too.

Skexis May 26, 2007 01:55 PM

$100 for trading in a PS2 with 2 controllers and memory card (this one's been going on for a while), plus extra 20 for trading in used hardware posted there. I have a spare memory card and a third controller, so it works out for me, but not everyone might feel like parting with that much hardware.

nuttyturnip May 26, 2007 03:00 PM

All the EBs I went to today (in Springfield, VA) were putting out special display bins with all the titles in the ad in new sealed condition. For once, they seemed very organized; I saw copies of FFXII special edition, Castlevania double pack for GBA, Chromehounds, etc. Nothing I was looking for, but for once an organized sale from EB.

Chaotic May 26, 2007 03:25 PM

Yeah. I was expecting just a normal set-up where you'd find the games on the shelf or something... I was surprised to see billions of sealed copies in a box. <.<

I'm still thinking about what to get and stuff. I might pick up a copy of Dragon Quest XIII since I gave my friend my original one, but i'm a little reluctant to.

If I had a 360, I would've gotten Condemned in a heartbeat... I'm not sure if I should get it for the PC instead though...

Helloween May 26, 2007 03:58 PM

Damn, gotta pick up Phoenix Wright 1. That's pretty much the only thing on the list i'm drawn towards, that is, if my local EB has a copy of it. Canadian game stores are notorius for not having that one.

I read a few reviews and they all said the storyline is pretty asstastic, as well as the voice acting, but all I really care about nowadays is gameplay and if it's a fun game. I always liked the play control of BFM/ToF more than Kingdom Hearts (just felt more precise) and I was hoping this one would continue the style.

Dark Nation May 26, 2007 08:18 PM

I just got Dragon Quest VIII today through that deal. I was considering getting Sonic Rush for the DS, as it would have only been 10 bucks, but I decided to go with something more reliable.

I think I will return later for something else though :333:

speculative May 26, 2007 11:46 PM

This is a great chance for anyone who hasn't picked up DQ VIII to do so.

The trade-in deal isn't bad, considering now if you trade in 4 or 5 games they might actually give you more than $.50 apiece!

Chaotic Jun 2, 2007 03:09 PM

I'm planning to hit this sale up again for a Wii Cooling Fan. A little pointless, but it's only $10 at this point, and I always leave my system on standby anyway, so might as well not let it overheat...

RacinReaver Jun 2, 2007 04:03 PM

That reminds me, while there a few days ago I saw these mini-PS2 controllers with NBA teams on them. They were only $10, but I don't know how comfortable they are so I didn't buy one.

Also, how's Harvest Moon? I haven't played one since the SNES, have they added much to it?

I almost bought Shadow the Hedgehog for $10, but I figure it'll drop to that eventually anyway.

I have but I quit due to the game moving about as fast as a snail.

But for $22 bucks I'd overlook a games slowness for it's qualities.

UltimaIchijouji Jun 2, 2007 04:18 PM

I walked into Gamestop not knowing this was going on. I got FFXII Collector's Edition (The cover of the manual is slightly ripped and creased for some reason, should I take it back?), Phoenix Wright, and Starcraft Battlechest.

Also picked up a GCN memory card although thats kind of unimportant.

I havent tried Starcraft yet but I'm satisfied with the rest of my purchase.

edit//I might go back for DQXIII, the Gamestop I went to didn't have it. Also want an SD card for my Wii.

I didn't care for A Wonderful Life much. There's very little challenge in getting a fiancee, and then you have nothing to do but plant stuff until you finish going through that part of the game.

If you want to try a new Harvest Moon game you should buy Magical Melody on the GC, or Back to Nature on the PSX. BtN has been remade several times for the N64 and GBA, but the PSX version had the most festivals and stuff. It's also still my favorite in the series, with MM as a close second and the SNES game third.

Chaotic Jun 2, 2007 06:40 PM

If it's new, then I suppose you should take it back... Kinda seems like a used version at that rate.

UltimaIchijouji Jun 2, 2007 09:19 PM

Yeah, I think I'll take it back Monday, I'll probably pass by there early enough to take it back. I love the game, I just want a nice manual.

Infernal Monkey Jun 2, 2007 10:24 PM

If there's any other Aussies lurking around, EB have started a rather large-ish downunderverse sale too. Lasts about a month, there's over five hundred games ranging from a piss poor $10 off to half price. The majority of pre-owned PS2 and Xbox games are half price too, and stacked on the floor, with chewing gum and bog stuck to them. Just waiting to be kicked over for an exciting goaaaaaaaal. Full list here. *Nobody cares*

Bratz games for under $50? I'm sold!

I might keep my eyes open for some bargains. Oh yes, and I'm not buying games stuck to the floor with chewing gum...unless that chewing gum is grape flavour. Nobody cares about this either..perhaps we Aussies should plan an uprising?!*

Skexis Jun 2, 2007 10:44 PM

So it turns out the deal gamestop had going on for a while (trade in a PS2 with 2 controllers and memory card, get $100 off a PS3) went off just as they began this sale. I should have known they wouldn't give someone $120 off a PS3.

In any event, I picked one up, along with Resistance. So far I'm somewhat underwhelmed, but my PS2 was dying, and I figured my system would only drop in trade-in value if I waited any longer. (It was only $30 credit before the extra $20.)

This way I know at least I can play all my old games and DVDs.

Chaotic Jun 2, 2007 11:07 PM

So I didn't get that Wii Cooler Stand today. :|

I'm a little iffy whether or not I should bother investing in one <.< I might just get it for the nice light compliments.

And out of curiosity, what's the Aussie equivalent to 1 USD? <.< Seeing Bully for 99.94 only makes me wonder. >_<

Sousuke Jun 2, 2007 11:39 PM

Looking at some of those Aussie prices... EB seems WAY overpriced. I compared the price of Mario Party 8 to the price here [$99.95 AU vs $59.99 CDN], and well...

One hundred Aussie dollars is worth about 89 Canadian ones. So essentially... well, that sucks.

On another note, my city is incredibly stupid, and passed a bylaw of sorts the other day. I went to make a trade-in yesterday so I could pick up Mario Pary 8, and apparently the city isn't allowing any sort of trade-in anymore unless they install this tracking software, check for ID, and all sorts of stuff. Hopefully enough people will complain that they'll change it though.

...Had I gone in ONE DAY earlier, I would have been fine. Great timing.

Yeah, all video games here are extremely expensive. Bully at $100 = $80 US. Our new release Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games cost $100 US. =)

I played Shadow the Hedgehog for free, it SUCKED. Not worth 10 bucks. not even worth $4.99.

I don't know why you just don't import games, Infernal. I've seriously saved thousands of dollars in doing so (even if shipping isn't the greatest thing on earth) since the inflation of games in AUS/NZ is ridiculous.

Infernal Monkey Jun 3, 2007 03:39 AM

Yeah, I've thought about whacking a mod chip in my PS2 for years, but never have for whatever reason. Luckily I have very little interest in proper video games these days. I'm all about stupid Japanese/Euro budget rubbish. :tpg: I import the majority of my DS games though, because fuck paying $70 for the likes of Cooking Mama.

Elixir Jun 3, 2007 05:23 AM

You don't need a modchip, you can just use a swap magic. Although if you end up getting a lot of imports (I know I ended up with heaps, I have like, what, 5 PAL games out of 60 PS2 games?), it gets tedious swapping.

Still YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO PLAY KATAMARI ANY OTHER WAY. So :(

I hope the NiGHTS sequel doesn't turn out like Shadow the Hedgehog :(

But for me, the only thing I would consider buying on that list is Guild Wars: Nightfall...If I played GW as much as I used to.

Also, I think this week Gamestop/EBGames is running a buy two, get one free on used accessories and games.

I seriously want to find a Gamestop in my area with a sad sap who sold Rogue Galaxy and Odin Sphere at the same place <.< Then I could finally put my $54 credit to use.

Ah. I didn't see it on your gamercard, so I assumed you had not. My bad, I guess.

Elixir Jun 4, 2007 10:04 PM

lol I haven't played it since about November (back on my cousin's 360). It just didn't hold my interest for very long, like PDZ or PGR3. I don't really sell my games though which is why I still have Gran Turismo 3 Platinum (and a bunch of Super Famicom games I don't even own a Super Famicom ksjdfksjff:(). I'm not a very organized collector.

I'm specifically not loading those on my gamercard because I'm trying to complete as many games as possible on it and not have a bunch of baggage. Kind of wish I hadn't of loaded Condemned since the game scares the shit out of me and I'll never find all the birds anyway.

Oh my, that's good to know! Katamariiiiii! I like how the PAL version of the sequel included the introduction movie to the first as a 'SPECIAL BONUS TREAT'. I probably need to play Chulip one day too~ Plus the countless number of Simple 2000 games that never got translated.

I feel I should mention that even though $20 for that Wii SD card seems nice you can find other cards cheaper online at Newegg.

On that note besides Excite Truck are there any other games with customizable soundtracks?
