there was also another episode of it that was 5 min long... but the animation looks fine to me. i think disgaea has potential to be animated.

I watched a 3 or 4 minutes trailer of this anime last week and I'm definitely looking forward to it. As a fun of the first game (haven't played the sequel yet) I hope they can catch the humour of the game and from I could see in the trailer they are doing a good job.

Hello, cannot wait to see this anime either this is going to be halarious, anyway does anyone know about the english version of the anime I heard that geneon was translating it, but that was all that I heard can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

I am looking forward to this, even if the character designs are not as good as I'd have liked - considering the original game art is so superb compared to the saturday morning cartoon look of the anime.

I read that the anime was also pre-licensed by Geneon, but ANN doesn't report it. Did this turn out to be a rumor?

I m looking forward to this anime, I just watched the trailer few days agos and this anime look the same as the game, i really enjoy the 1st game I hope that they continue with all the joke with Flonne and the other.

Doesn't matter becuase the animation is really fluid. I forgive the character design for it looking absolutely awesome in action. I hope they can keep up all those awesome spinning cameras and angles.Doesn't matter because someone is going to pick it up no matter what. Get the RAWs if you're desperate.

Yeah yeah, and Etna with a gatling gun is enough to get me to watch anything.

I just wish they'd made them truer to Harada's original designs to make it even more appealing. Now it's like Peach Girl anime's designs compared to the super manga originals :(

I really liked the promo, I'm glad everyone is at the show, even Captain Gordon and Jennifer.

Etna is my favorite character of the game, I'm glad she's of the main characters, she's so damn funny, especially how she treats the prinnies.

This anime is a must watch for me.

I haven't seen the promo yet but I've seen some pictures of it. I'm really looking forward to seeing as how much I loved the game. When it was first announced at ANN they said it was being made by Rondo Robe which is a related company to Geneon, so that's were I believe that rumor may have originated from.

You should watch it, it's a really small download (38mb), especially you that have an avatar of Mid-Boss (or Dark Adonis if you prefere).

The animation is great and just by seeign the promo I get the feeling that this is going to be a lot of fun too, with a lot of jokes.

I'm just not sure if I wanna see Combo Rangers in the anime.

This is the part where I embarass my self and say that I'm still in a neck of the woods where we(my parents) can't get a reasonable broadband connection down hear, so I'm still on dial up and I'm so cheap I'm still running on Windows 98 so bittorent is no longer compatable for me.

I also believe Disgaea as a game held itself together very weakly. In fact, I found it almost trite and boring most of the time. Making it into an anime is a better move. Gameplay and such were tedious and slow, not unlike most tactical RPGs, but since the story was in perfect format for a 26 episode or such anime, why not just make it into that anime? Since a relatively lengthy, in depth story holds most tactical games together, Disgaea just didn't cut it in my book. Most RPGs can't make it as a reasonable anime, but Disgaea sure can.

Oh god Flonne, the only thing about Disgaea I actually dislike. It's not the cuteness of her, but her voice. It's so whiny.

I'm interested in this when it comes out too, even if it does look like it's a low budget series.

Using the characters faces when they were Team Attacking was surely a good idea.

I just didn't make an Etna wallpaper because Flonne had her eyes closed, and that would save me a lot of time.

Oh Flonne what a cute angel, I love her as a character but I prefect Etna and all the penguin lol, also that I great wallpaper with all the faces when the team atk.

I prefer the fallen Fionne not the angel one. She is just cuter as a demon.

I'm also looking forward to this anime, since I saw the anime cutscenes on Disgaea 2, I think this will be a nice move and if it comes with the same animation and humor from the game that anime will rock.

Is this anime taking place AFTER the first game or what? By after, I'm expecting fallen Flonne instead of angel Flonne. Or are they doing the entire game storyline?

Also, this is ONE and ONLY anime I hope they will dub. The english VA for the game was excellent.

I'm pretty curious about this, and as long as they keep that awesome humour, this will be an enjoyable show.I reallly hope that they'll let Etna do the next episode previews.

Well after to nights of leaving my computer on downloading it I have finally seen the promo trailer. I must say I have never been more excited for an anime than I am for this one. I've watched about six times already but it hasn't gotten that boring yet. If the animation stays as consistent as that promo it will be one of the prettiest I've seen in a good while.

It's a great promo, lot of action and jokes.

I liked the drawing of the promo, it looks much better than the models on playstation 2.

Something I'd really like to see in Disgaea is a special appereance of one or two characters from other Nippon Ichi games, like Marona from Phantom Brave.

If they were to include any characters from any of the other Nippon Ichi games I don't think it would be very appropriate unless they have some omake episodes after the bulk of the story. I personally wouldn't mind seeing some of Zetta and the other overlords myself.

Yeah, I heard they've made quite a lot of changes, but I don't think I'd find it too interesting if the plot was exactly the same as in the game. I do miss Flonne's "Nin nin." -scene, though. :(

From what I've read, people have been rather disappointed with the first episode... I'll see for myself when someone subs it.

I was indeed disappointed with the first episode... I meant, I wouldn't want a repeat of whats in the game. However, throwing the first 5 characters into the 1st episode seemed a bit too 'fast'. Etna is comming in the 2nd episode... >_>

Somehow I will give this anime another chance in eps 2... if it doesn't pick up the plot I am gonna prolly watch it after its complete.

I've seen the first episode, and while it's too early to judge, I definitely was not too amused with what I saw. It seemed as though the people who produced it were just trying to hard to be funny. While the game took the characters and just had them interact in a way that was natural, what happened in the first episode was forced. I think this is more of an attempt to cash in on the success of the game rather than to make a quality series.

The introduction of three certain characters certainly did not come at a time that even fit the events that was happening. At the very least, they could have introduced Etna at that point and had a bit more verbal sparring than what actually occurred. Oh well, at least we'll get a chance to see Etna and the prinny squad in ep. 2.

Still, this isn't a good start to a (supposedly) comedic series. The producers should take a few hints from School Rumble Nigakki for some pointers on how to do things as that is a series that manages to give me good expectations for the rest of the season while maintaining its humor.

My expecation for this show just went to zero. :(

Anyway, I watched this a bit back and was sorely disappointed. Despite what was promised, the show feels like a saturday morning cartoon after all. I'm still not liking the character designs and all of the faces look deformed most of the time. While I don't like the story changes they've made
, it shouldn't really matter if the show would be fun to watch (the Japanese VAs are at least retained from the game), but so far the banter and few fights that were there just haven't done it for me.

The show simply lacks the charm and wit of Disgaea, the delirious sense of fun is just not there.

OK, so now there is a non-shitty group doing the subs, does anyone still watching this thinks that the video quality went down to shit? Animation is next to nonexistant and Laharls body looks something like a badly drawn Beavis & Butthead.
