SPRING BREAK 2006

So what is every up to for Spring Break? I have some friends going to Cancun or South Padres Island down in Texas. Mostly everyone though are staying in town for work or some "catching up to do" with school work.

As for me, I'll be working and studying. I have three exams following spring break. That totally ruined my spring break! There's a rodeo going down here in Texas, so I'll be going to that this week. If I have time, I'll probably head down the port with some friends and do some fishing.

What will you guys do? What do you consider your "ideal spring break"?

xuemin Mar 14, 2006 12:22 PM

mine's going to be spent tutoring a friend in the year above O.o;; catching up on my online gaming, more piano practice and hopefully i'll also actually make an effort to revise for my exams this year.

my ideal spring break/easter holiday would be spent doing no work of course =p and probably abroad somewhere in south east asia, or being sad and lonely in my room playing games all day XD

Eleo Mar 14, 2006 03:38 PM

I've been on break since December, so I'm going to do the same thing I do ever day.

Absolutely nothin

Chaotic Mar 14, 2006 03:41 PM

Argh... My spring break isn't until next month. LATE next month.

I hate my school.

Plarom Mar 14, 2006 03:43 PM

My spring break is going to consist of 40 hours at work and 20+ hours doing community service. I won't be doing anything really fun, but I will be taking care of stuff I need to get done since it's the most free time I've had in a while.

My friends wanted to go up to UCONN (former #1 party college) on the weekend, but I'll have to see if they really folllow through.

Neogin Mar 14, 2006 04:55 PM

Spring Break? Nothing, nothing at all.. Just sit at home, relax, watch some soaps, the usual, heh.

My Spring Break isn't until April 16th...damn high school (and the public school system that assigned such a date)...

Fatt Mar 14, 2006 07:35 PM

Clean up my apartment for the most part. I also look forward to playing the original Half Life games through one more time.

As far as actually going places, I travel so much already fulfilling contracts that it is a vacation to just be able to sit around at home once in a while.

Wojo Mar 14, 2006 07:57 PM

My spring break was last week. All I pretty much did was play Serious Sam II. Though I also hung out with friends and stuff.

Man_of_Pie Mar 14, 2006 08:20 PM

Mine is gonna suck. This is my last Spring Break as a civilian and probably all I'm gonna end up doing is watching porn and masturbating cuz I don't have enough money to go on a badass trip. =(

PiccoloNamek Mar 14, 2006 08:30 PM

Why is your spring break so early? It isn't even spring yet.

Here, we don't have spring break until the middle of April.

Rydia Mar 14, 2006 08:40 PM

I'm on break right now, but I don't have anything interesting planned. Just visiting my parents for the most part, and catching up on schoolwork. When I return to school again in about a week, I have midterms.

Franky Mikey Mar 14, 2006 08:46 PM

Spring break begins on April 22nd for me. I get two weeks off the conservatory and my job, but only one off the faculty, so I will have to go to class during the second week. That's barely two mornings in the week, but still enough to prevent me from going anywhere.

Not that I would. Whenever I get a break, I take it as an opportunity to practise the piano about 6-7 hours a day and to catch up on schoolwork. And regarding the latter part, I fear there's going to be a lot of catching up to do!

I'm out the first week of May. :\

Mine's this week. I'm cleaning around the house. Joy?

Matt Mar 14, 2006 10:11 PM

Not sure, really.

My break isn't until the end of the month, which is pretty strange since we'll be out of class May 4th.

qtipk Mar 14, 2006 10:16 PM

I'm totally going to not leave the house for an entire week.

Lady Miyomi Mar 14, 2006 10:21 PM

I most likely won't be going anywhere. Work and studying will take up a majority of my time so I won't have time to go anywhere. Besides, if I really want to see something, I can always go stand on the beach and watch the water.

I'd love to go somewhere, though... :(

typ44 Mar 14, 2006 11:27 PM

I got some schoolwork and reading to catch up to . Yeah, I'm going to the rodeo also. My friend invited me to come along, he suggested that we go "brokeback mountain style." HAHA.

el jacko Mar 14, 2006 11:30 PM

Mine starts Friday and doesn't end until April

I'll be in Paris and maybe elsewhere in Europe for basically the entire time.

Gonna be awesome.

I poked it and it made a sad sound Mar 14, 2006 11:31 PM

Went to Vegas for the weekend. Saw the Grand Canyon. Saw Vegas.

Came home to be back to work on Tuesday. Work for the rest of the week, but no class - which kicks a lot of ass. I'm going to hate going back to class. I love this life where I do nothing after work.

But yea, spring break doesn't amount to much when you work full time and you're an adult. ^_^

Here in the southern region of the United States (Texas), it's already spring. Most colleges in our state have spring break in the middle of the spring semester. I'm sure France is still winter, just like the northern parts of the United States.

At least when you have spring break, we would wished we were in your shoes.

Oh the rodeo, that's wonderful! Your friend is a strange one!

kat Mar 15, 2006 01:16 AM

I was going to stay in my apartment at school and just hang around. Kingdom Hearts 2 is coming out the week before my spring break so I figured I'd just spend the time taking it easy, playing the game and seeing my friends, we were planning on going to the beach for a couple days in Santa Cruz. I also bought tickets to a concert that I wanted to go to.

BUT, my dad wanted me to come home for the duration. I figured it was too much of a hassle and I didn't really feel like going back down because my parents had rented my room out to boarder, so it'd be skeevy to say the least. But my dad asked me to come back, he's going to pay for my ticket and drive me back up so I agreed. I miss my family and good food so I figured it was a win win.

Yunnie Mar 15, 2006 02:17 AM

My spring break starts in the afternoon of March 24th to April 3rd. During the first 4 days of spring break, I'm going to be in Vegas with my parents (Dad is going to buy me my first LEGAL drink, lol) Then after Vegas I might just catch up with the reading that I have to do and prepare for the midterm exam that's gonna take place on the day I return to school *sigh*

As for an ideal spring break, I'd like to just chilling with either family or friends, and hopefully... *crosses fingers* don't do anything stupid, haha.

Elcee Mar 15, 2006 02:39 AM

I think I'm heading up to Oregon to see a Guitarist buddy of mine. Nothing major.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Mar 15, 2006 03:00 AM

Fuck all of you. I get a lousy three days off.

Hachifusa Mar 15, 2006 03:18 AM

I was going to be heading to Japan, but couldn't secure the passport quick enough.

Oh, well. I'll probably just play a game or something.

nazpyro Mar 15, 2006 03:21 AM

I get a week off. I was originally going to go on a cruise to Jamaica with 3 friends. But then some interviews and shit came up, so I gave up my spot to someone else. So basically I'll just be video gaming forever.

Interesting. I wasn't aware that Texas was nearly a week ahead of the rest of the country. That's one hell of a time-warp.

I'm in Georgia, and we've always had spring break in April, when the actual season of spring was already well underway. In March, it's only just starting to warm up, and the temperatures are still fluctuating. Why have time off then? Wait until it's consistently warm. (If you're into that sort of thing.)

Why only three days? I thought all schools had a week off?

PacificKid Mar 15, 2006 06:56 PM

My spring break was in February (?) - everything was cheaper, but not many other universities were out. At least since it was February, it's an awesome time to go snowboarding in the Rockies!

Lady Miyomi Mar 15, 2006 07:09 PM

How does that happen that your spring break is different from everybody else's?

MeTaL_oRgY Mar 15, 2006 07:31 PM

I'm going to Cancun for a whole week. =D

with my mother and sister. =(

As for my ideal spring break, it was last year. I finished... humm... high school (don't recall english name, for god's sake...) or something and I went with all my class to Cancun for one and a half week. Yeah, Cancun is paradise on earth, though I'm not quite sure what to expect with my family there.

I'm not sure actually, but I know that most of Canadian Universities have their breaks on or before the beginning of March.

jouhou Mar 15, 2006 07:46 PM

I got spring break next month. 1 and a half week off.
I won't be doing anything productive; just play some games, bother some people, maybe go to a theme park or something.

The universities of each state is different so the breaks are also different. Some colleges has 4 months of summer break. My school has 3 month of summer break and high schools usually have 2 months of summer break.

Don't feel down about not going to Japan, just download a bunch of anime and watch it all week.
Get yourself some rice balls and it'll be like you're sitting in a hotel room in Tokyo and not your own bedroom.

Arkhangelsk Mar 17, 2006 04:04 AM

Hell yeah, I'm actually am doing stuff on my Spring Break, for once.

I went to Six Flags over Texas a few days ago... that was interesting. I went on my first 'real' roller coaster: Batman the ride. Yes, I've been told by enough people "That's not a big roller coaster!blahblahnotscaryblah..." but you know, I'm lucky to go on everything at Disneyland. Until a few years ago, I wouldn't. So this is a big step for me.

And now that I'm back in Austin, I'm hitting some of the band shows here for SXSW (south by southwest). Unfortunately, I'm not going to see any Norwegian acts :( (they were all 21+ or cancelled...). But I did see The Dresden Dolls tonight/last night, and that was awesome. They did a cover of Sabbath's War Pigs that was wonderful. I just wish I wouldn't have had to pay a $25 cover charge.

Tomorrow/today I'm hoping to catch DMBQ, The Duke Spirit and Man Man, along with a Metalhead documentary, some music vids (one from Kaada!), and another documentary about Beethoven (they're from the SXSW film festival).

It's my first year doing the SXSW thing, so it was a pretty big shock.

Slash Mar 17, 2006 04:28 AM

My Spring Break is going to be filled with probably work...lol. I don't really have any where to go since If I were to drive somewhere, there isn't alot I can do since I don't know whats up there. I fscking hate Oregon v_v

That's rough. I get a week and a half off. Of course spring break always sucks because it's Passover, but I pretty much break the rules everytime I leave the house.

kobunicus Mar 17, 2006 06:35 PM

BBQs and LANs! This spring break is gonna be awesome. :)

Trigunnerz Mar 17, 2006 06:52 PM

My spring break was pretty uneventful, but I'm really glad for the time off. Weekends were the time where I met up with some old high school friends. The weekdays were, well, sleep late and wake up late afternoons. Practice my music for an hour, then off the wonderful world of video games!

Rydia Mar 17, 2006 06:55 PM

With class coming up again on Monday, my break was also very uneventful. I managed to get a lot of unfinished work done though, so it was still somewhat productive. Friends from other universities didn't have spring break when my school did.

Lucky!! I miss Six Flags! We use to have one here in Houston. They just took it down this past October cause business was bad.

Workin and studyin, with a possible side-trip to Chattanooga stuck somewhere in there.

quest2368 Apr 2, 2006 08:32 PM
