Thread ratings?
Thumbs up/thumbs down? GFF is going to incorporate this across all boards?
|
For props, I believe/hope so. Hopefully it won't look as cluttered as the 5-star ratings do, but people have been clamoring for being able to prop basically everything.
|
I guess we'll have to see it fully incorporated to know if it'll be good or not, though, negative props? Sounds like a new toy for haters to play with.
Hopefully there will just be a number and not a bunch of thumbs up/thumbs down images showing the average number, etc. like some boards do. |
It's not for rating threads, it's for rating posts.
I put them there for the moment just to see how they look. |
Oh, well...they look fine to me. :) I've never understood why someone chose yellow over green for thumbs up.
I guess I'm curious to see how they display the "rating." |
Maybe we can get someone to come up with something Gamingforce-specific for it, like some wacky smiley face or something. I think it looks good, though. (:
So there won't be anything showing on the threads page that shows how many propped posts are inside? That would make me happy (to not have it show). |

Also, :bobofrown: if negative "props" is kept.

Also, props for :bobofrowny:. =P |
I was going to thumbs up the first post, but it doesn't work yet so oh well. Regardless, I like it. It's not very obtrusive, and I think it would be a fun little add-on to have around the boards.
|
I will only support this action if my drexgonk post gets at least 20 props. The fact that I have to see my distorted face every time Leknaat posts distresses me greatly. :p
|
Uh, is the final version going to appear in PMs too?
And yeah the thumbs up/down kind of look like pieces of chicken to me... |
You're a pieces of chicken.
|
They remind me of some sort of broken up YinYang. Anyhow, this is a great idea and I'm not sure what the fear over negative props is.

I demand the ability to prop props.
I APPROVE OF THIS PROP. PROPPED. |
I demand the ability to prop propprops.
I APPROVE OF THIS PROP OF THIS PROP. PROPPED. |
I believe that when people make posts that make you frown you be able to deprop THEIR FUCKING AVATAR so that the more times different people deprop it the more slashed and ragged it starts to look. I believe a lot of Blah + artistic talent would be involved?
I AM PREPARED TO OFFER YOU ONE MILLION. VERY WELL THEN; TWO ILLION |

Also, propping props would be hilarious. Exponential props. If I prop the 4 props a post already has, it could be like adding a power to it. So all the sudden we have 16 props. Then someone else props those 4 props and bam, 64. And then if 3 people proped the props me and that other person made, we could have 4096 props. And so forth and so on. |
Hello Colonel_Skills, I have just propped your post. Please check your user control panel for the last entry in the sidebar "Props/Disses Received". You may rejoice.
|
That's pretty pimp, Blah. <333 to the max.
|
Hey, it works. Cool feature, Blah. People have been suggesting this since forever. I never actually thought it would happen though.
|
Do you HAVE to make it redirect to another page, and force a reload just for post propping? Sounds rather tedious. :(
|
Dude, sweet.

Rat why must you turn this into a house of lies?
|
"You have successfully rated this post"
Phew. Can't help feeling I put myself on the line there. |
Is there any way to remove or change a prop / diss?
|
Also, I'm wondering if the person doing the rating should be hidden from the rated person.
Suppose you don't want to offend anyone, but you also want to inform them that they made a shitty post. I can see myself making a negative rating for what I see as a retarded post, and then, because this hypothetical person may lack any ability to self-criticize, they harbor some absurd grudge against me into the next decade. Then again, I am just a taaaad bit paranoid about things like that. |
I thought this would be anonymous, but when you think about it, knowing who propped or dissed you is actually cooler. Also, that way people can't register zero-posting dupe accounts to fuck with the system.

Someone might see that I nega-propped their post, and think that somehow I'm in on some circle-jerk group against them. (which will pretty much never be the case) But I can definitely see why that would be a plus as well. Blast you double-edged sword features! :argh: |
Love the feature, but

Along those lines we should also be able to later change our choice in polls.

Similar to what we have for the journals, how about a Todays Propped list for posts? It would enable people to streamline their time spent on Gamingforce, by skipping whole chunks of discussions and just reading the highlights.
By equal measure, we could have Todays Dissed. Earlier, Sassafrass was lamenting the decline of mob crusades against individual members, and I'm with her on that one. A 'list of the dissed' would create a snowball effect and show everyone where to get in on the action. Nobody misses out. You can't get more community spirited than that. |
Awesome idea Kolba. Just what we need, more people trying to act cool on the internet for e-popularity.
There isn't that much discussion on the forums now. Skip the chunks and there's basically no gff to browse. :( |
FUCK, I've just done it again.
Please implement an option to edit those ratings. Or don't put the two buttons so close to one another. ;_; |
Is that the mistake people are making? Like I noticed a prop and a diss for the same post from niki the other day.
Silly Frenchmen! |
Uh, really ? Which post ?
|
|
Oh right I remember. 'Was just testing around. =/
How do you know who propped what, anyway? |
Check in your control panel page on the bommot left. Like where you can see who viewed your profile and stuff.
|
Oh neat. Thanks รดรด ~
