Just saw this and it looks to be pretty funny. From the name of course you'd expect that it's from a couple of the writers of Scary Movie and it makes fun of some of the more recent epic/cult movies like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Superman, Chronicles of Narnia, etc...

You all knew it was a matter of time before this happened. :P

That looks like the shittiest movie of the year. None of the movies they spoof are epic, all the jokes look retarded (she kicked the beaver in the crotch face! l-o-l), and fucking Borat is a parody already, why would you parody it again, a month after it came out...? The majority of the people who will pay money to see this are probably brain-dead, sorry.

I agree the ____ Movie series has gotten out of hand. My humor tastes may be obscure, no I won't pay to see this in the theatre, it's rent-worthy at best. I don't even know if there's another genre to make fun of after this. Indie Movie??!? Drama Movie? blech

Maybe it's just because I've been up all night, but I giggled like a girl a couple times. I still wouldn't pay money for it, not even for a rent, though I'll probably catch it when it hits the movie channels.

Also, I expect it to be eight hours in length. Only then will it be a proper parody of epicness.

These type of movies just kept going downhill after scary movie 1 and from what I heard I saved myself an eyesore from "date movie"

If they're quick maybe they can rename it Shit Movie and claim it's a self parody.

Oh dear. When are they going to stop churning this crap out? This film looks like contender for "Worst Film Of The Year Award". Can't these people come up with something original, the whole parody thing is old hat now.

They'll stop churning this crap out when people stop buying into it. Why bother making something original when you can make something like this, that takes so little effort, and profit profit profit. Same thing with horror movies. We won't see another good one until people realise they suck.

The first Scary Movie was funny, then it all went downhill. This is the lowest of the low.

The fact that movies like this can be made, year after year, says a lot about humanity. It's one of those movies you take some bimbo blonde to and laugh along with her out of politeness.

I agree with the few people here who say Scary Movie was good, but after that...:gonk: I'm sure Epic Movie will be shit, and I'm also sure that people at my school will find it hilarious. Boo to them, I say. You should hear some people going on about some movies, I mean Scary Movie 4 even got people praising it. Scary Movie 4. Will it never end?

Jesus, I thought it ended at 3. My mind must've just shut out the information regarding the series after a certain point.

From 2 of the 6 writers of Scary Movie, comes another spoof. This time they're mostly making fun of more recent films, such as Chronicles of Narnia, X-men, Superman, Pirates of the Caribbean, and even Snakes on a Plane.

If you've seen those other movies (like the Scary Movie series or Date Movie), you can kind of know what to expect from this. But I have to admit, the trailer did look kind of funny (I just hope they didn't show all the funny stuff in the trailer).

So, do you think this movie will do well, or will it bomb?

Well, I hated Date Movie. This is from the same people I do believe, so I have very low expectations. I'll take my sweet time and hear some reviews for it before I bother throwing 7.50 down for a ticket.

I mean, all things considered, the premise is fine. Just I doubt the follow-through on it.

The trailer looks fucking awful. Is something wrong with your head? This movie is going to be an absolute train wreck.

I like how after the Wayans left the series following Scary Movie 2, the studio that produces it took the concept and whored the franchise into oblivion.

I haven't seen any of the Scary Movie series or Date Movie but I must say that this doesn't speak well for them. I would watch this on the same day I decide to re-watch Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.

This is probably going to be the final nail in the coffin for the franchise since I can't possibly think of how this series could get any worse. It looks just like a hodgepodge of movie spoofs that aren't even funny.

I haven't seen any of the Scary movies, but it looks like it's going to be a bunch of paradoies that in no way could possibly be connected together. Things like that are better left in 6 min clips on youtube

I like how something was actually considered to be better when the Wayan's were attached to it.

Also the trailer is possibly the worst thing I have ever seen. But lots of fucking morons go to movies, so I'm sure it will make much more money than it desereves.

I like how the movie's really just a bunch of pop-culture references mixed with shitty potty humor. Most of the movies parodied aren't even worthy of being parodied. Borat? X3? Chronicles of Narnia?

To be honest, Scary Movie 3 was my favorite. Haven't seen date movie, I feel like the spoof concept is getting a little stale these days.

Yeah, date movie might be the worst movie I've ever seen. I doubt I'd waste 10 bucks to see this one.

I'm personally getting sick of all these parodies... where's the originality? They're just doing what MST3k did, but putting the witty comments in the movies themselves. Come on, Hollywood writers are getting paid enough to think up original ideas, they could at least TRY. I certainly wont be spending $9 (yes, they're that much for me right now) to see people make fun of a movie that I can rent and make fun of myself.

So next they will be spoofing their own spoof movies right?

I'm not gonna waste my hard-earned money on "Epic Movie", especially based on the trailer. Some of the jokes looked amusing, but honestly, a lot of it really didn't do it for me. The Superman joke was 100% predictable, and does SoaP really NEED to be parodied? It practically parodied itself.

Oh, right. In response to the original question - I don't think it's going to do very well unless it miraculously turns into the critics' darling. Most people that I've talked to hated "Date Movie", and "Scary Movie 4" wasn't that well-received by audiences either, if I recall. I think the general populace is realizing that the 'series' and its 'jokes' are wearing thin, and unless they actually crank out something genuinely funny and the critics rate it highly, then probably very few will really want to see it.

The concept is awesome. I will probably rent it, because I know I would be wasting my money to see it in the theatres. Maybe I'll just download a copy of it so as to not cost myself anything. :/

If it's anything like Date Movie you'd be better off just waiting a year for it to come on TV. I can't stand to watch more than 15 minutes of that at a time, and even that much is a struggle. I was never a fan of the Scary Movie series either, but at least they were watchable.

The only thing that interests me about Epic Movie is how they plan to thinly connect all those movies together.

It's the idea of warping the original that catches me - I don't think I'll care much, if at all, about the storyline linking the spoofs. I'd just watch it for the spoof segments themselves. Like a string of dumb jokes.

And BAM, everyone went to the theater to find out and the piece of shit made its money back.

Um... What? Way to ignore the rest of my post where I said it's most likely going to be unwatchable shit. Morbid curiousity over how the shitpile will be constructed doesn't mean I actually care about the movie.

Well it was more of a generalization, since I imagine this curiosity will be a chief reason a lot of people will see it; hell, maybe the filmmakers were even banking on it.

Just watched this a little while ago. (It's out on DVD now) It wasn't too terribly bad. Of course I got the uncensored version.

It had some parts that made me laugh pretty hard, as well as some parts were painful, but I have to say that Darrel Hammond did a pretty damn good job of "Captain Jack Swallows"

Overall it's more or less what you'd expect from a knock off movie. Also, the outtakes are kinda funny.



It's worth a rent at least, that is if you like low brow humor and parodies.
