Kurosaki Ichigo is a 15 year old student, with the ability to see ghosts. His life was forever changed when he met Kuchiki Rukia, a Death God, who is charged with sending lost souls to the afterlife, known as Soul Society.

Whilst saving Ichigo from the attack of a malevolent ghost known as a Hollow, Rukia sustained serious injuries. Unable to finish the battle, she offers to share her powers, and responsibilities, with Ichigo..
So yea, they pretty much started with a new part of the series now, and I find it quite enjoyable. Waiting for episode 70 now.

Perception Mar 2, 2006 04:19 PM

You beat me to the thread! =)

I saw the first couple episodes, and I thought it was entertaining. I'm looking forward to the rest. I've never wanted to get into animes over 26 episodes because I feel like the story will drag too much, but I'm going to give this a shot.

Any idea how long this series is supposed to be?

Outlaw Mar 2, 2006 04:45 PM

Started reading the managa last year after I heard enugh rave reviews on it I wanted to check it out for myself....I was instantly hooked. Although, I've been waching the anime from the begining now and again.

Anyway....it's a good series....

ComCrimson Mar 2, 2006 05:10 PM

I've seen some of the manga for this and i can't say i like it as much as the anime. I'm waiting on episode 71 to get fansubbed and put onto the net. I got so hooked on this when i started watching it in half term. Watched like the whole series in a week. Awesome series, needless to say

Peter Mar 2, 2006 05:29 PM

I gave up on the anime after the soul society arc. I was disappointed by the way they handled it, especially since it's now nothing more than a cliché shonen. And I haven't heard a lot of good things about the filler arc (some young girl wanting to play games?), so I'm afraid I'm done with Bleach.

ComCrimson Mar 2, 2006 05:32 PM

I'll agree with you on that. It has gone a bit downhill since the Soul Society arc (which i loved although i wished that they would have just got on with it and...done what they went there to do) and yeah, this filler is a bit dumb, but i'm just waiting for something interesting to happen.

Shonos Mar 2, 2006 05:46 PM

My interest has fallen since the fillers started. Which is kind of depressing because I was really liking Bleach. How long will this go on anyways?

The new little girl is really annoying. I was looking forward to what happens. Instead I get some annoying girl slapping ichigo around and making him play games.

soulsteelgray Mar 2, 2006 05:50 PM

I haven't watched any of the filler episodes yet (Lunar just resumed subbing the series after a short hiatus), so I've nothing to say about them.

The manga, however...

Spoiler:
Holy freakin' crap. Ichigo nearly killed Hiyori in 216. I honestly thought that he would.

The "training" that the Vizoreds seem to be giving to Ichigo in 217 is actually quite entertaining to read. Hijinks are everywhere. And then, of course, Anti!Ichigo returns at the very end! Yay!

Peter Mar 2, 2006 06:14 PM

an offtopic question, why the hell did you change your name? SA-kun was much better.

Somewhere along the line, I decided it was time for a handle change and registered as "soulsteelgray" anywhere I went. I considered keeping my user name as SA-kun just for GFF, but eh.

Blame it on my want for a single internet identity.

Kimchi Mar 2, 2006 07:53 PM

Hmm one question, when is epi 70 gonna be released? I am too lazy to look it up >.>

Soulsword Mar 2, 2006 08:05 PM

Episode 70 was released over a week ago by the fansub group Datte Bayo who does an insansly good job on their fansubs.

evant Mar 2, 2006 09:48 PM

I got hooked on this series after watching a few episodes, and now can't wait for episode 71 to come out. At first I didn't think I would like it, didn't sound too interesting, but I found it surprisingly good. I haven't read the manga yet, but it's way ahead of the anime right?

soulsteelgray Mar 2, 2006 09:54 PM

Er, kinda yes and kinda no. The anime was in danger of catching up to the manga, so that's why all these filler episodes are being produced.

Eh, they do a good job for a speed group. Lunar is the way to go for bleach subs, though. A little behind now, but catching up. 67 and counting.

Dark Nation Mar 2, 2006 10:06 PM

I just got the first 40 episodes from a friend, so I'm gonna be watching those over the weekend, sporadically. I've already seen the first 6-7 episodes anyway, but now I got something to watch for a while.

I'll come back later with my impressions of the show (After I get done watching, obviously).

Macro Mar 2, 2006 10:50 PM

I'm current with Lunar's Bleach subs, and we're in the midst of a truly boring filler arc. The Soul Society arc was pretty good, and it ended well. But now Bleach is going nowhere until this filler is gone. Those of you who stopped watching after episode 62 haven't missed anything yet.

Summonmaster Mar 2, 2006 11:08 PM

Yeah they wrapped up the little girl (Rin Rin) thing really horribly and are moving to the Bount concept right now. The three really fade into the background with no satisfactory explanation too. I still watch Bleach for the popularity factor, I'm not particularly disappointed with it, although they are really shoving the whole "Ichigo + Renji = hate" concept way too much.

Black Ninja Mar 3, 2006 08:21 AM

The filler is better than the Naruto filler. Man, I just watched episode 174 of that and... ugh. At least Bleach we can still count on people getting hacked into peices.

Tama8-chan Mar 3, 2006 09:05 AM

I'm enjoying this filler at the moment.
If only for the end theme My Pace lol.
Downloaded the single yesterday, and am enjoying heaps.

And I agree there are certain character rivalries they're taking waaay too far.

Roku Mar 3, 2006 12:48 PM

hm... I've yet to watch the anime, but apparantly from what I heard, it has some unfavorable detractions from the manga.

So I'll be sticking to the manga for now. Although the OST rocks >_>

Piano Mar 3, 2006 01:09 PM

I thought that Lunar Anime's subs aren't particularly good, especially with regards to Ichimaru Gin. All those contractions they added when he spoke was annoying - they should've just left the voice actor to do his job.

elwe Mar 3, 2006 06:04 PM

Whee! I'm not the only one who doesn't really like the filler arc. I was actually expecting something better, but in the end, I was disappointed. I think the peak of my disappointment, or I guess it could also be the lowest point, was the fact that...

Spoiler:
The 3 new characters aren't evil! Well, wasn't that a waste of time. I was really getting weary with the chases and whatnot.

I haven't followed the manga at all, but I'm hoping that something good will happen--soon! However, I'd like to say that the new ending theme rocks.

The new Shinigami Cup bits were pretty funny though.

Spoiler:
Go Ukitake!

That's the thing, though. They try to liken Gin's accent to a southern accent. Non-Japanese speakers can't even tell a difference in Gin's accent.

Spoiler:

I knew he wouldn't. When was the last time Tito killed off one of his characters? Kaien some decades ago? Crappy Arrancar lackeys? That's always been one of the flaws with SJ works in general: the reluctancy to actually kill off any of the primary or even secondary characters. Besides, I'm sure Kubo wouldn't going to just kill her off just like that. After all, she does appear to be one of the more important Vaizards.

OMGFILLERFTL?

So yeah, they haven't been that good. Has there ever been an anime that had a filler on par with the quality of the source manga?

Peter Mar 4, 2006 06:16 AM

Nekobo:
Spoiler:
It's common for a shonen manga for characters to always pull through, no matter how bad their wounds are. This is another reason why I don't like Bleach anymore, you have a huge finale to the Soul Society arc, and NO ONE dies. I would have at leas expected Aizen's lieutenant to be killed, but they even managed to ressurect her. imo, this really doesn't add to the drama that it's trying to create.

Fumoffu Mar 4, 2006 11:16 AM

I was about to give up after the SS arc, thinking that all filler arcs suck by default. (looks at Naruto) To my surprise, the new arc is actually decent. Not good, but not bad either.

Anyone know when Ep. 71 is supposed to air? I thought it was last week.

Yuna Mar 4, 2006 12:06 PM

I liked this new arc too, even though it isn't as cool as Soul Society it's good.

Spoiler:
I'm just sad that the "Quincy guy" (forgot his name) lost his powers, he's so nice.
But on the other hand Rukia finally got back to the show, which I think it's great.

Peter Mar 4, 2006 12:13 PM

Bleach 71 will air on March 7. I don't know why they took a break, but it's only one week so it isn't that bad.

Fumoffu Mar 4, 2006 12:16 PM

Yuna,

Spoiler:
His name is Ishida Uryu.

The SS arc is dang good - it's a crime to compare a filler arc to it. IMO, the goodness of SS arc is on the same level of Rurouni Kenshin's Kyoto arc. Simply gold, that is.

Peter Mar 4, 2006 12:23 PM

I have to disagree with the Kenshin Kyoto Arc comparison. Bleach focuses too much on the battles, the bigger the better with things blowing up left and right, where the focus in Kenshin was more on the story, and it found a good balance between drama and battle. Maybe it's just because Kenshin and Shishio are such brilliant characters compared to Ichigo, Aizen en Rukia's brother, but Kenshin is far superior to Bleach.

Weeklan Mar 4, 2006 12:28 PM

^Maybe, but it's OK, just enjoy it I like to say. ^.^

Thanks for the feedback, Enkidu.

Perhaps I should have been more specific in my comparison. In my mind, Kyoto is far above and beyond SS in terms of plot and character development. I realize that Rurouni Kenshin in general, and the Kyoto arc in particular, is the epitome of a very rare breed of animation brilliance. But in terms of viewer enjoyment, IMHO, SS managed to capitivate me in the same fashion as Kyoto because of plot twists that I didn't see coming at all.

Peter Mar 4, 2006 12:52 PM

I see your point, and I have to agree, now that I understand it better. Out of the entire Kenshin series, the Kyoto Arc was easily the most enjoyable (although Reminiscence is the best in terms of story and overall quality), just as SS is a lot better than the filler crap and the first random episodes.

Fumoffu Mar 4, 2006 03:20 PM

And on a bright note, the current Bleach fillers are nowhere near as bad as the filler crap that followed the Kyoto arc.

Back to Bleach. Am I the only one who actually enjoys the introduction of the three new plushies? Kon was great and still is great, but he needs new companions. Let's hope that they somehow stay when the show goes back on track.

NES Oldskooler Mar 4, 2006 04:50 PM

Bleach is pretty decent. I started watching it, and was expecting the typical kind of routine anime where there's comedy, then a monster appears, and Ichigo transforms into a ghost to kill it, repeating until the end of the series.

I was pleasantly surprised when an actual story started developing, and before I knew it, the Soul Society story arc was over at episode 60-something. It's a fun anime to watch, and one of the few I tune into often.

1) I agree with you completely there. The fillers after the Kyoto arc were so bad that I ended up eradicating them from my mind. Still, those post-Kyoto fillers weren't nearly as horrendous as the last episode...

2) No, you're not; I love the new plushies! Chad and his plushie are hilarious. :tpg: The duck thing was also pretty cute. Truthfully speaking, I was actually getting tired of Kon and his...thing for Inoue.

Secret Singer Mar 4, 2006 08:37 PM

Hmm.. I wonder how predictable the Soul Suckers are going to be? As in trying to tempt Ishida to join them willingly, to gain their powers but use them for good. That seems obvious for a plot twist, and that it will be refused. I don’t read ahead in the Manga but some things dont need to be in the manga.

I like how the new plushies add to the comedy of the show. I especially thought it was amusing seeing how...

I agree with everyone on this that Kon is funny and all but the new plushies add more humor than just Kon, especially Nove and Chado those two just go together.

nazpyro Mar 5, 2006 06:58 PM

I love the new plushies as well. It made watching the ending credits more entertaining now that I knew what they were. Initially, I thought it was just the most random ending credits I've ever seen, since the plushies weren't quite in the show yet when it came out. Sunset Swish's "My Pace" isn't nearly as catchy a song as YUI's "LIFE", which I absolutely loved.

jouhou Mar 5, 2006 08:27 PM

The new plushies are funny and cute; I hope they stay even after the fillers.

ZeroSlash Mar 5, 2006 09:38 PM

I've only started watching bleach a little after christmas and I've seen the first ten episodes. For the first ten they were very entertaining. Like I've said many times, I'm stuck on dial up and I can only see them when my friend burns them for me but he's stuck doing the damnable Senior Project so he can't burn any more for my untill way later.

Dewman Mar 6, 2006 12:28 AM

What is the point of the plushies? Don't Claude/Ririn/Nova kick enough arse for them not to warrant being toys. They should get to do something, since they seem to be more powerful than enyone else of the gang

Outlaw Mar 8, 2006 08:24 PM

Aparently the anime has been licenced....It was inevitable....

Quote:

Viz Media Acquires Bleach Anime (06:36 PM EST): According to this report from C21 Media back on February 6th, Viz Media has acquired the Bleach anime in order to push more into the teen anime market. This comes at a time when a recent Cartoon Network interview has the commentator talking about how Bleach is very much an Adult Swim oriented show and would fit well in their line-up. Time that with Inu Yasha getting closer to finishing and it looks as if Viz Media is lining things up for their next big TV push in addition to Naruto.

Chaotic Mar 8, 2006 08:36 PM

Let's just hope they don't kill the voices... I could imagine the voice of Yusuke from Yu Yu Hakusho being Ichigo's voice.

Neogin Mar 8, 2006 08:43 PM

Son of a..I said that.

It's a shame that Viz got hold of it. It would have been awesome if Funi licenced Bleach. Anyway, I might consider watching the anime again.

Nekobo Mar 9, 2006 02:56 AM

I thought this was unconfirmed, since it hasn't been mentioned officially by Viz? Also, animesuki is still hosting and Lunar hasn't acknowledged this as official, either.

Either way, it will eventually get licensed. I'm just glad it's not by Funimation or 4Kids (poor One Piece, RIP Shaman King).

DarthSavior Mar 9, 2006 03:40 AM

As of right now, it's licensed in Europe (as the site that broke the story is London-based and the licensor being based in Amsterdam).

If it were licensed in the US, there would be an official press release or some crap like that.

End of story.

chato Mar 9, 2006 07:53 AM

You should check it out it's interesting characters and they don't annoy you with constant flashbacks with clips from previous episodes. They do flash backs in one entire episode and explain everything. The comedic scenes are also great, they give a good quick laugh.

Freaking shit!! Does anyone know when the hell Bleach OST 2 is coming out yet?

Dee Mar 15, 2006 03:22 AM

I don't think it's really been explained yet.

Spoiler:
He's nearly died several times, and I think around the first or second he began developing the Hollow mask. He's (unfortunately for the viewers) managed to rip the thing off every time it develops. I think the first time it manifested was during his training with Uraha.

Double Post:
Well spatula if you looked at DB's mainsite they have some, it seems this is random or whenever the subber is really drunk or high.

Spatula Mar 25, 2006 02:34 AM

Yeah, I tend to go straight to animesuki (which no longer hosts the Bleach links) so I rarely if not have ever gone to their main site. I just searched up 73 on isohunt.

CloudNine Mar 25, 2006 02:45 AM

DB has been doing those fake subs for a long time, starting with Naruto. Like it was said before, they have a whole long list of them on their tracker page.

If you're looking for a place to replace finding them now that animesuki will no longer host them, go to www.baka-updates-com. They seem to have no qualms in linking to licensed anime. I would recommend just setting up their RSS feed in your browser. Makes things take 2 seconds to know what has been released.

eriol33 Mar 25, 2006 09:19 AM

the latest chapter of bleach, prepare for the typical shonen anticlimax:

Spoiler:
After Ichigo was beaten severely by Anti Ichigo (who claimed himself as Zanpakutou) his chest was thrusted by the blade. As the chapter ends, we could see Ichigo begins to power again, we could expect he will probably win, overcoming anti ichigo with several power ups.

you could get the latest hq in www.bleach7.com.

Yuna Mar 25, 2006 01:22 PM

I'm a bit sad about Bleach being Licensed, because I liked Lunar sub better than Dattebayo's.
They're both good but DB leaves a few of japanese expressions untranslated.

chato Mar 29, 2006 01:13 PM

This week's episode wasn't so bad. The show is airing at a new time over there now. Since Gintama will air very soon , the next episode will be 2 hours O.o..

I found it entertaining as well. Especially with all the other characters from SS showing up.

I don't know if the translation was bad on my sub but:

Spoiler:
Ichigo asked how dude with red hair and whip katana had found his house. And then later showed the gang meeting Hantarou but no Gansu(sp?). Which is if according to the current arc not possible unless all the hantarou stuff in the arc is flash backs. But then again...

I'm confused. :P

Everybody, Bleach is going to Adult Swim this fall. Now if only they did the same thing with Naruto despite the average dub (as it gets better later on).

Just read the good news. Glad to see Bleach is making it there as opposed to Toonami.

leo Mar 31, 2006 01:56 AM

Caught up with the anime recently and am hoping the fillers won't go overboard like Naruto has with crap quality and constantly delaying the next arc.

nazpyro Mar 31, 2006 02:12 AM

I'm actually enjoying the Bleach fillers. Maybe it helps that it doesn't have as much of a filler-feel since I don't keep up with the manga like I do with Naruto.

Nice that Bleach'll be on Adult Swim. I probably won't watch it as usual, but it'll there just in case I'm bored. A lot of the jokes (applies to most anime anyway) in Bleach seem like they just won't be delivered very well in a dub. Meh, I see them getting butchered, but whatever.

That's terrifying in a way, but I'll probably nab a tasteful keychain (not those gigantic rubber ones) if those ever get made. I guess it isn't that bad, unless people start sporting their Bleach backpacks, shirts, hats, and pins simultaneously.

Adult Swim, eh? I'm sure most of us saw it coming anyways. Oh well. At least when I mention Bleach to my "lunch buddies" ( :edgartpg: ), they'll know what I'm talking about. I'm pretty sick of hearing about InuYasha every single time I run into them!

Hopefully, the dub doesn't get butchered. It'd be nice to get a voice actor for Ichigo similar to the Japanese one. The whole throaty tone suits the character quite well. I'd hate to see that go away. :p

chato Mar 31, 2006 05:34 AM

I think the reason for it being on adult swim is probably due to the massive blood lost that everyone gets in a fight.

chato Apr 5, 2006 05:58 AM

This episode was just boring as well. I was watching Gintama instead @.@...

So any idea when the fillers for this'll end?

Kimchi Apr 5, 2006 12:33 PM

I heard the filter is for their movie.

Rydia Apr 5, 2006 04:44 PM

Has anyone seen the new opening and ending sequences yet?

It was interesting to see how the new opening slightly resembled the first one. I don't mind the new OP song either.

Yeah, if they made like a pewter keychain of Zangetsu I'd pick one up in a heartbeat.

As for the dubs, call me crazy but I always thought the VA for Yusuke from Yu Yu Hakusho would be pretty decent for Ichigo. But not quite his Yusuke voice. If it were deeper it'd be perfect.

Bleach's Op's where doing great til this one came up.

Only Bleach endings i hated most are Happy People and my pace.

Guys, one question.

You guys watched "sealed sword frenzy" right? Well end of that Ichigo uses his bankai to get his Tensa Zangetsu to kill Baishin right? Well I just realized that one of the filter mentioned that you can't use Bankai in human world... anyone can clear that out?

I'm not a huge fan of BEAT CRUSADERS, so the song has a ways to go in growing on me, but the style of the OP was a nice blend between *~Asterisk~'s and D-tecnoLife's. I like it.

No.. I think they said that since he's a substitue shinigami again he cannot use bankai. He has to relearn to use it as long as he's a substitute.

I remember hearing their OP for Beck. I don't follow them, so I wasn't expecting the new Bleach OP to be in English. I saw the raw for it a few days before the sub came out, and I was unable to pick up all of what they were singing.

nazpyro Apr 6, 2006 06:15 PM

Yeah, I'll agree. After the insanely mind-blowing plot twists at the beginning of the arc, it kind of fell flat with all the battles and whatnot.

There's a track that I really want which isn't on OST1 and I hope it's one OST2

Spatula Apr 27, 2006 12:19 PM

With the whole "Bountou" thing going on, at first it REALLY lost my interest with this new set of "baddies", but somehow I like how some parts are tying up. Also, I surprisingly like the new OP theme, it's quite catchy like the 2nd season OP theme.

Ichinose:
Dude, this guy Ichinose and Kenpachi, FIGHT OF THE CENTURY. I must at least see one whole episode devoted to this fight scene.

eriol33 Apr 27, 2006 12:28 PM

Kimchi Apr 28, 2006 07:20 PM

Yea it is some kind of vampire. Expect that it can live "forever", but it is gay. In the anime they introduce this vampire as "bount" and it discrives that it is like quincy expect they live forever as long as they suck soul from human. And a shinigami is involed with them who ditched the soul society.

Spoiler:
Bascially Ichigo and his company is in the straw hat's house talking about bount. Then in the anime it shows an film clip taht was found in the technology int in the Soul Society. [It was Quincy VS Bounts.] Blah blah blah, the quincy bastard and the bount is having treatment, blah blah blah even more, Ichigo is forced to go to basement to fight, blah blah blah.

I just finished watching episode 79, and it covered some important stuff. But it wasn’t that interesting.

Spoiler:
Basically the bount woman gets killed by the leader to take reproductive power. [Power to reproduce dolls or something like that.]

blisteredhands May 15, 2006 12:30 PM

After reading chapter 225 of the Bleach manga, I have a theory, was wandering if anyone else agreed/disagreed

Spoiler:
In the recent chapter, I felt like they've been alluding that Inoue and Chad could possibly be Vizard. Inoue was able to slip past a barrier formed by one of the Vizard, and Chad apparently has some sort of power that he can develop a bankai as well. Then, it shows Urahara thinking to himself, refering to Chad and saying, "The power that you possess is certainly different than that of a shinigami or a quincy.. yes, that power is as though..." and then it cuts to Ichigo fighting with his mask on. Any one else get this feeling?

eriol33 May 15, 2006 12:43 PM

Yes! I'm agree to your opinion. But I think they are different from Vaizard/Shinigami/Quincy. I suppose they have different kind of power... let's just wait till next chapter.

Kimchi May 15, 2006 01:51 PM

I don't quiet agree. I think develpoing from minor to major is.... well... off handed.

Imkylepiano=) May 29, 2006 08:07 PM

Hmmm I've watched 30 eps, and waiting for 31-40 torrent to finish then the 41-59 too finish and so on.... hmmm so when do fillers start? are they still going? Are they mostly good?

Torrent sites. There should be a sticky or something about downloading anime.

About the manga, it's up to 229 as I know it. About the Chad/Inoue thing
Spoiler:
I don't think they have the power of a Vizard but they have some sort of power. I don't think it has been explained. Also Aizen was looking at Inoue and wondering why she's like that. At first I thought when Urahara told Inoue that she's useless in the upcoming battle (Urahara... you bastard!), I thought she was going to defect to Aizen. But glad that wasn't the case.

Still, the manga is in this "power up" mode before
Spoiler:
meeting up with Aizen again
so it's slow right now.

Also about the Quincy
Spoiler:
Ishida getting his powers back is pretty short. Still, glad he got his powers back. Just wish there was more of him.

EndlessSky Jun 6, 2006 07:04 PM

Yea, I stopped watching it after the fillers started as well, I watch one of the new episodes that come out and every now and then to see how far it is along.

Secret Singer Jun 6, 2006 08:09 PM

I have only seen bleach music videos at YouTube. :/
At least thats what the search field brings up.

nazpyro Jun 6, 2006 08:59 PM

The Bleach fillers are alright. I just caught up over the weekend. (That break in April messed up my viewing routine). Anyway, there's been a lack of LOL and AWESOME throughout the filler but it's ok. It's all about those clips at the end they show anyway. They remain to be ridiculously random and often funny imo.

Dee Jun 10, 2006 09:15 PM

Okay finally the manga is going somewhere.

Ch. 230
Spoiler:
Grimjaw is back and armless, and Ichigo is going to fight him. So far it doesn't seem like Ichigo can harness his hollow power for more than 4 seconds if I recall, so how in the world is he going to fight him now? I guess we'll see!

Spatula Jun 11, 2006 02:17 PM

Is it just me, or has like the filler episodes been stuck at episode 80 for the longest time. I was starting to get afraid that ALL of the series has been licensed, I know the 1st season has hit American airwaves...but I don't know about the rest.

eriol33 Jun 11, 2006 02:32 PM

Dont forget, maybe this is just a first filler arc. Perhaps there would be 2nd, 3rd, 4th.

Let's hope not.

EndlessSky Jun 11, 2006 03:03 PM

Its up to 83 now, with another one-hour special coming up... and for those of you who can't find the episodes you can download the torrents and some direct episodes at www.bleachportal.net

Dee Jun 18, 2006 01:42 AM

Ch. 231 spoiler... Am I the only manga reader here? =\ But the M7 lq release was horrific... but beggars can't be choosers.

Spoiler:
Surprised Ichigo would use his hollow powers so quickly, even if he is to retain it for a mere 11 seconds. Seems like one hell of some power he's got there.

Having Urahara in action will be pretty damn sweet! It just seemed pretty sudden to have him say, "I'll go" when we barely ever see him fight. I'm psyched on this match.

Kimchi Jun 18, 2006 05:59 AM

I also read manga.

Bleach is getting pretty much boring now. It is DBZ with swords instead of fist fight. I am sick and tired of Ichigo powering up, for instance, he first learned bankai, I am pretty sure that is more then enough for a Shinigami since he is able to move fast like that. Now he is mastering his hollow form to be "stronger", like seriously, now what? Fusion?

Spoiler:
It is alright. I am pretty suprised how he accepted to use the hollow power. But the last chapter was pretty disapointing IMO.

I'm just not really feeling the whole "power up" arc right now. I didn't like it in Soul Society and I don't like it now.

Dee Jun 18, 2006 01:06 PM

I think this is the sad state of most shounen mangas, since Bleach lost its appeal after the Soul Society arc for me. For now it seems bouncing around the arrancar deal. Naruto already fell into this trap long before, like a year ago. If anything, it is rare for me to encounter a long manga (20+ vol) that kept with the rhythm since first go, although I can readily name a couple that have.

soulsteelgray Jun 18, 2006 01:44 PM

I thought that the manga lost steam sometime during the one-night attack against everyone (Mala Suerte!, I think). It still managed to hold my attention before that happened.

eriol33 Jun 18, 2006 02:27 PM

Err, I dont think so. At first glance I was just like you, disappointed by how this arc seems goes nowhere. I restrained myself reading bleach around 2 months. Because it seems I lost track of the story, I reread the entire vaizard arc, and to be honest, I began to enjoy this one afterward.

The main reason I felt this arc getting lame probably because I only read fragments, if you read the entire chapters again, you *might* enjoy this series again just like me.:)

lol:
I think Kubo Tite is yuri lover. Just take a look of the recent Rukia-Orihime cover.

Dee Jun 18, 2006 07:18 PM

Spoiler:
I think all men are yuri lovers... deep down inside...

It's true about reading a chapter at a time vs. reading a volume at a time. One chapter a week doesn't hold my attention very long, but reading entire volumes at one sitting can do wonders at how you view the manga. There are pros and cons with both though.

Pros with reading full volumes in one sitting is that you get sucked in with more force, almost like you can't put it down and that you have to read as much as you can before you decide to do something else. The story unfolds more clearly. Cons with this however is that, in cases such as mine, you leave the manga hanging for around a year until next summer break, then when you pick it up again, you forget just about everything except for main characters' names or whatever else significant. The adjustment varies depending on what genre you're reading or how much knowledge of the previous volumes are needed for catching up now; it might even take rereading previous volumes to get the ball rolling once again.

Manga serials like Shounen Jump are those weekly chapters, where some pros can be you get a little dosage per week instead of heavy injections. But in the case like Bleach, it seems disconnected. And for people like me, we forget to remind ourselves every week that there's a new chapter out and don't really bother devoting ourselves to it every week. To me it's a chore to remember, and I would much rather wait until a break until I can massively download and catch up with things.

Sorry for the long rant.

Outlaw Jun 19, 2006 10:06 PM

If anyones interested in the english dub.... I visited the ANN bleach page today and they have Kate Higgins (Sakura in Naruto) listed as one of the VAs.

EDIT: She'll be doing Karin....

EDIT 2: According to Kate Higgins in a email to Bleach7.com, Michelle Ruff will be doing the voice of Yuzu, and Ichigo has also been cast, but she forgot who was going to do his voice.

soulsteelgray Jun 26, 2006 01:41 PM

For those interested, the movie's official site just went live. The full title is 劇場版BLEACH MEMORIES OF NOBODY or, taking out the annoying little "gekijouban" part, it's simply "BLEACH: MEMORIES OF NOBODY." Hm.

Unfortunately, I can't really read the summary they have on the site (which is pretty barebones at the moment) besides "Soul Society" and something that looks like "plan" in katakana.

soulsteelgray Jul 15, 2006 04:07 PM

www.bleach-movie.com

The movie's official site updated again with TV spot #2 and the first teaser trailer. Both are actually fairly similar. There's not much in way of content unless you like looking at Ichigo trying to look cool. December's still five months off, so I suppose they've got more up their sleeve to show us.

Kimchi Jul 15, 2006 06:03 PM

There is teaser site for Bleach game for Wii. But hell that movie trailer is pretty sweet.

Dee Jul 18, 2006 10:20 PM

Reading up to 235
Spoiler:
Geez, this is getting really choppy. First there are too many "surprises" that aren't really surprising, like people coming out of nowhere and pulling moves from thin air. And then switching between three battles can be kind of hard to catch. Although, my favorite parts are seeing Urahara in action. That's just plain sexy.

I still say that Mona Marshall would have been a better Tatsuki. Wendee Lee is an interesting choice for Tatsuki's character none the less. And I wouldn't have minded Kari Wahlgren as Orhime. All and all we will just have to wait and see how it all turns out in the end....

And for some reason I'm seeing Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as Kuukaku though, either her, or maybe Yoruichi. But I know they're probaly not going to get her...

WolfDemon Jul 25, 2006 01:31 AM

Somehow I'd always imagined the guy who played Yusuke on the Yu Yu Hakusho dub would be a good Ichigo if he used a slightly deeper version of his Yusuke voice.

I don't know about Johnny Bosch. He's a great voice actor, but after hearing the deep, sort of raspy Japanese voice of Ichigo for so long, hearing Vash will definitely be a little jarring.

I've noticed that as well. Also, I've always found the "spilling" of blood to be unrealistic. The delayed effect and splashing sound seemed silly to me.

The manga's still not that far enough for the anime to safely move into the normal swing of things just yet. It's only chapter 237 and the arc has pretty much seems like it's just barely begun.

Outlaw Jul 28, 2006 12:39 AM

Regarding the blood thing. You have to factor in that half the time he's in Soul Reaper mode and technically souls can't die unless they have some sort of sickness or if vital parts of their body are broken, then I guess the soul would "die" in a sense. Like be reincarnated or something. or attack [Viz:] the Saketsu Chain and the Hakusui soul sleep [fan translated:] the Pressure points that control spiritual energy. And then the soul reaper part of the soul dies, but they aren't dead-dead.

So my only guess would be that a soul reaper can bleed a lot and faint from lack of blood...but they won't die from it unless the injury is very serious. Not a bunch of big gaping wounds. A bunch of characters bled a lot and they didn't drop dead, they survived. All they did was faint. Maybe spiritual power plays a part in how bad the wound is perceived. As for Ichigo, the fact that he's
Spoiler:
a Vaizard
could have something to do with it as well as the other point I made in the paragraph about spiritual power.

Then again...maybe I'm just reading to much into this and it just has to do with the anime laws :ashamed: .

Dewman Jul 28, 2006 03:23 AM

Well, when they 'see' Aizen dead, how come they believe it to be so? If souls can't die, then they shouldn't be suprised to see Aizen with a sword through him.

Also, the captain the Zaraki kills to become captain... he dies too

kenkwan86 Jul 28, 2006 05:24 AM

Ive realised that bleach is getting worse each episode. cant really be bothered to watch it these days. cant wait for it to return to the manga's plot, which is much better.

wonder where souls go after they die? soul's soul society?

Wai Jul 28, 2006 06:10 AM

maybe the soul just cease to exist :P

the bounto arc really should end soon. i dont like it

Outlaw Jul 28, 2006 01:24 PM

Well, Like I said, if vital parts of the body get hit/broken the soul 'dies'. From what it looked like Aizen was stabbed through the heart, same thing goes with Kaien when
Spoiler:
Rukia kills him.
A Soul can die, but not in the sense that a body can seeing as how they are alredy dead. They can get cut up a lot, but my only guess can be that they won't die in a fight until something vital is hit. So they won't techicly die from blood loss. But don't take my word on it.

As for what happens to souls when they die, my guess would be reincarnation. Given the whole
Spoiler:
Ichigo looking like Kaien thing
that keeps coming up now and then.

Shonos Jul 28, 2006 03:29 PM

I was always under the impression that when you die in soul society you are reborn in the human world. When you die in the human world you are sent to soul society.

Didn't they touch on that in one of the episodes during the anime? When they were explaining why the Quincy threw off the balance of the worlds.

Yes, they touched how Quincy threw off the balance of souls. Since the souls that is slain by Quincy isn't sent to Soul Society, meanwhile Soul Cutter does.

I just downloaded the 2nd OST of Bleach. It's basically GARBAGE.

...I assume most of the music comes from the Bounto Arc.

Kotone Aug 8, 2006 12:19 PM

I downloaded the 2nd OST as well, and I agree with you completely. Less than half of what was on the OST I actually found decent, and even less of the tracks I liked.
And, yes, some, if not most, of the tracks come from the Bounto arc. I believe there were five tracks or so that I immediately identified as being used in the arc, and I have to say that it's not Sagisu's best work, in my opinion.

Metal Sphere Aug 10, 2006 02:47 PM

Bleach7.com's got Dattebayo's Episode 92 up, and from what I saw it looks like we're going to see the Bounto for a quite a bit longer. Mainly because it's shaping up to be a each-person-fights-one-bounto type deal.

Wai Aug 19, 2006 11:57 AM

the Bounto arc will probably last to episode 100+
why cant the Bountos just die?
Spoiler:
Last episode's fight was stupid, that girl Bounto's whatever weapon is one of most crappiest design weapon I ever seen. I mean why are a sword and a fan thats linked together?! and that fan, is that a shield or something?

oh and the new soundtrack, i have downloaded it. just listened a few tracks, not very good tracks. Deleted the OST
Bleach is losing its qualities. I like Bleach, one of the very few anime series I watch. I dont wanna see it go "Naruto"

Erisu Kimu Aug 19, 2006 11:58 AM

This is currently one of my favourites.
Spoiler:
Although I'm more of a fan of the Manga and its progress, the fillers for this Anime isn't all that bad. I find it actually entertaining to see Rukia fight one-on-one battles haha.

I love the overall style of the Anime though and the Shinigami outfits made out to look like the Samurai is a plus. My favourite character is Urahara Kisuke. The guy has such a laidback calm demeanour, the intelligence and the fighting abilities. Of course, he IS the former Captain of the 12th Division and the founder of that Technological Institute. The guy's a genius inventor.

Kenpachi is pretty crazy himself too.

Spoiler:
I hope Kenpachi fights in the filler arc of the Anime. I'm also anticipating him in another fight in the Manga in the near future too. It would be quite the awesome moment.

Oh gawd, if (when) Kenpachi gets into the fight with the Bounto, he'd probably try to kill all of them at once just for fun. XD But, yes, it would be awesome to see Kenpachi fight again.

Because, it would ruin the "plot" of the arc. :P
But, seriously, I wish they would die too (on the bright side, they probably will...eventually).
And trust me, I don't think anyone wants to see Bleach go Naruto.

Commence 'dub sucks' raid.

I personally have no problem with the dubbing. Rukia sounds a bit monotone, but the dialogue provided didn't really allow her to do much else. Looking forward to how they handle the scene of her getting kicked in the face.

Casaubon Sep 1, 2006 01:20 AM

It's not that bad, in fact, I think I like it. I never really got into Bleach but if it's on TV it'll be easier to watch (don't ask why, it's always been like that for me).

Johnny Yong Bosch sounds wierd with a deep(er) voice than usual though.

Outlaw Sep 1, 2006 01:22 AM

I liked the clip. I mean to me it sounds like a pretty solid dub for a more-then-51-episode-series. Unlike Naruto did. I mean if anyone hates it they should be glad it wasn't Ocean Studios they got to do the dub.

LJ's already in the 'OMG! teh dub is the sux!' mode. They're mainly all angry over the term soul reaper. Um...hello. Soul Reaper is an official term used on the JAPANESE DVD covers.

Shonos Sep 1, 2006 11:44 AM

What the hell is wrong with Soul Reaper? I've always heard Shinigami translated as 'Grim Reaper' before Bleach. Calling them Soul Reapers sounds pretty accurate to me. It also makes sense. They are reaping souls. I don't see the problem.

Did they expect them to keep it as Shinigami? Dont tell me they wanted them to call them death gods. Like some fansub groups do. Which is a fucking stupid name if you ask me.

KrazyTaco Sep 1, 2006 12:05 PM

The dub actually didn't seem to bad. Unfourtanately Ichigo's voice I feel sucks. Badly. Rukia's didn't sound that bad though, I always picutred her as having a deeper, more monotone English voice. Since this will be showing on AS, the editing will probably be minimal to, so all around it looks like it might actually be worth watching.

Outlaw Sep 1, 2006 01:07 PM

Actually....they DID want Viz to keep it "Death God" :ashamed:. What they seem to be forgetting like I said, Soul Reaper was used on one of the first DVD covers in the line "I hate soul Reapers..." Not to mention it was used in a B-station clip when Masakazu Morita and Shinichiro Miki were doing their own english version.

But it would seem that it equils the whole Ratio insted of Light thing or the liking dubs or subs better on whatever you saw first. Personaly I think it's stupid the way they don't open up and try the dub (or subs for that mater) before they make an opinion based off of a term that really can mean Death God, Grim Reaper, or Soul Reaper...

I hope that last bit made sence...

Tellurian Sep 9, 2006 06:00 AM

Soul Reaper... Grim Reaper... How about Deathbringers? Or something entirely new that makes them sound more positive and less frightening? Like...
Justice Keepers or something similarly sad?

Cirno Sep 10, 2006 01:30 PM

Watched the first episode last night (dubbed). The voices weren't bad at all. Acting was good, Rukia's VA was able to slip in and out of serious and silly behavior pretty well. There's still room for improvement, which I'm sure will come about once the VAs get used to their characters.

And who gives a fuck about the Shinigami/Death Reaper/Soul Reaper business. It's all the same thing, anyway, you weeaboos.

Casaubon Sep 10, 2006 01:45 PM

Agreed with Kurado. Ichigo's voice in the trailer was a bit awkward but it worked out fine when you watch the whole episode. All the voices were good, even his sisters(which some people were complaining about for some reason). Looks like another solid dub from Viz.

Spoiler:

It's still about the bountu, yes.

blueice760 Oct 5, 2006 02:52 PM

YUI - Rolling Star <3 <3 <3 Awesome op, and the ed is okay. These Bountu need to die faster.

Erisu Kimu Oct 6, 2006 06:47 AM

The dubs are alright. I like Ichigo's and Tatsuki's voices the best. I'm just waiting on Urahara Kisuke and how his voice is going to sound.

As for episode 98 of the sub...

Spoiler:
It was awesome seeing Kenpachi kill Ichinose. Ichinose had a cool technique in the end where the light space shrunk down and closed in on Kepnachi. Other than that, he had nothing else but emo talk to offer. Now the rest of the bounto need to die! I hope Hitsugaya fights next.

jechtsphere Oct 6, 2006 01:55 PM

Glad to see Kenpachi in the anime again, at least these fillers have gotten more interesting.

The 100th epi was lame IMO.

It's so corny. The part when the doll turns against him and urh, I can't even remember names now. That captain who got poisoned says crap like "Oh, I heard about your doll. It turns agaisnt you when you get weak." Like wtf. And that anti-posion finger crap. Even worse.

highlush Oct 24, 2006 08:16 PM

well at least it's starting to get back to normal. it's almost at the end of the filler. the epsidode beginnings have the arrancar in there, with grimmjaw in one of them.

Metal Sphere Oct 28, 2006 11:25 AM

Yup, you're right. They've already shown Ulquiorra and Grimmjow. I give the filler maybe like 5 or 6 episodes. 3 for those last 3 Bounto (the straight sword-wielding lady and whale rider may die in the same episode), the big guy and then a two part for Kariya.

As for the manga:
Spoiler:
The group has absolutely shitty odds as saving Orihime on the first try. They'll likely get trampled, reunite and train some more.

They seem to be taking down bountu at a fairly quick rate, so I'm going to estimate about a month and a half more of this arc. No idea if they have more planned, though. ...Probably do.

Can't wait to see some of the stuff I glanced over in the manga finally animated, though. It's going to be sweet.

Vexe Dec 9, 2006 05:09 PM

Nope, Bleach will not stop the fillers yet. The new opening video to accompany the rolling star music has a brandnew character (who is designed awesomely by the way) and new enemies. The bad thing is...

Spoiler:
...she's going to be the new Rukia/Oirihime, that means she gets kidnapped 3-5 episodes after introduction and the next 30 episodes, Ichigo will desperately try to save her.

But to be honest, anything is better than the Bounto saga.

Metal Sphere Dec 13, 2006 09:18 PM

Actually, the fillers are ending very soon. Many are speculating that they may be up just before the year ends. The intro and ending to the last episode of the Bleach had previews of the of the Bleach movie that's going to be released soon. The new girl's name is Senna, and the animation quality (ridiculous) should've been enough to hint that this wasn't the regular show.

Spoiler:
I think the fillers will end before the year's up, looking at what the last few episodes have been. Each of the Bounto have been taken down very fast. Kariya's already into the typical villain flashback zone, and Ishida's down for the count. Maybe 2-3 more episodes, due to the inevitable secret development during the battle.

They've already shown Ulquiorra in the previous intros, and Aizen is featured in this one along with the Arrancar squad that Grimmjow leads. The regular animators seem to be returning as well (they were working on the movie), if the the intro's clips are any indication.

Orihime is really starting to get useless/annoying, like Sakura in Naruto. I haven't caught up with Naruto, but Orihime is one of those characters. Well, it looks like the filler episodes are over and the Arrancar arc is starting up in the anime. Episode 110's title is more than proof enough, especially given the student they're introducing.

Spoiler:
IMO, they're building up to something. It was the same as in Soul Society, with the whole splitting up business. There's a ton of possible ways they can go with this, but they'll likely focus on Ichigo and his "hollow" thing. Their reaction, etc... I agree that it's not moving fast enough, since at this rate we'll end up with a second filler arc to give the manga more time.

Summonmaster Dec 27, 2006 05:49 PM

Finally the end of the filler!
Spoiler:
Although it's so lame how Kariya and all the bounto died. It was so easy to hit him at times and impossible other times. It was so illogical most of the time though. I want them to make Lilin disappear forever, those three souls felt so useless throughout the whole filler arc.

Well...

Spoiler:
They're going to find a way to off them before Shinji shows up and the anime gets back on the manga track. The animators from the SS arc are back for the main arc again, meaning we'll get much better animation quality than the shoddiness that was the Bounto.

Either way, I trust they'll get rid of the 3 mod souls just like they removed the battle accessory from the picture entirely.

Oh, I don't think we have to worry about them. From the way they've handled things, the next episode will get rid of them. They are Bounto derivatives according to what they mentioned at the start of this filler arc. If not? We'll end up seeing them only in filler episodes.

Spoiler:
Probably very strong, or at least markedly stronger than his standard arrows. That would explain why he has a finite amount and why he sliced right through her blades like that. From the way the fights are going, it'll be 1-2 (maybe 3) chapters per character. IMO, she's probably going to get killed by Ishida using he sword as an arrow, and since it can pierce her armor, that'll be the finishing blow.

Of course, KT could take this in another direction.

somedude2387 Jan 7, 2007 06:06 AM

What did you guys think of episode 109? When I started watching I wasn't sure if the animation was different or whether I had forgotten in the 2 weeks off but I didn't like the animation as much in this episode. There was some dialogue that seemed weird to me but I think it had some little hints to what might be coming up.

Episode 109 surprised me with

Bingo, or... it could simply be the closure he was looking for. The 3 dolls will probably used in filler episodes with Kon or something to keep the manga and anime a fair distance apart.

Ohh, so I've finally caught up to the manga (which I had never read until last week) and just realized that the anime is back to the manga storyline now. Good stuff <3. I guess that's the reason for the new ending theme ("Sakura Biyori" by Mai Hoshimura), which is also <3.

Is the new chapter out yet?

Spoiler:
Simple. They're handling the anime differently. That's probably why they kept Ririn, Cloud and Nova, since they could take up time in episodes. Honestly, from what I've seen of the episode titles and the pace the manga is going, we're going to see another filler arc very soon.

But yeah, anyone who hasn't read the manga is definitely blown away by Ryuuken and Isshin stepping foward. Hopefully they keep Ichigo's near-lethal hold on Hiyori as close to the manga as possible. Definitely a scene I loved.

was anyone else surprised that when Ichigo's dad killed that fisher hollow he didn't bring up the fact that it killed his wife? In that other episode when Ichigo fought it he got really fired up and unleashed but his dad was so nonchalant about it

I was quite surprised to see that. I had to take a good look before I realised who it actually was.

There was one other thing they left out:

Spoiler:
Urahara didn't show up afterwards, like he does in the manga. I guess that's why he didn't mention it in the anime, since that's what spurs him to do so near the start of the Arrancar arc.

Erisu Kimu Jan 28, 2007 05:41 PM

Spoiler:
Actually, in episode 112, Urahara shows up. While in conversation with Isshin, Isshin does indeed mention his wife. So, it basically is following the Manga with the only difference being the three dolls added to the mix. I'm glad they didn't leave out the Isshin/Urahara convo. That's one of my favourite moments.

Oh, now that I've seen 112, I'm glad that they kept that there. Guess I jumped the gun a bit there, since leaving that out would definitely get viewers a little confused (example: Didn't that hollow kill his wife? Why didn't he mention anything, etc..). The way they handled their conversation was good, though the doll writing these things down was a bit irritating (filler, so it's bearable).

Anyone notice Ulquiorra and Yammy in the episode preview? They look pretty well drawn, hopefully they move as well as they look.

I'm really cised for Shinigami appearance in school. That was jaw-dropping for me in the manga, and I hope it will be again come this next episode.

Yep. Hopefully the dolls won't come along for the ride once Ichigo, Chad and Ishida go to Las Noches.

Ulquiorra and Yammy appearing in the next episode means some good things to come :) I can't wait till Urahara fights Yammy later on.

Oh, we're probably going to get that either next episode, or in the preview that we get at the end of 113. I guess it depends on whether they really want to stretch out this bit to let the manga advance a bit further.

Spoiler:

Why would they come along to Hueco Mundo? The team's already got 3 companions with them, and two of the five don't have them to make those battles quicker (less dialogue/fewer characters to draw) to complete. Chad's, for example, is whizzing by pretty quick. It'll probably be done by the middle of the next chapter with maybe some Renji/Rukia coverage.

Ulquiorra/Yammy is going to awesome, though. Can't wait to see Chad get laid out completely by Mr. Yam, as that was a shocker in the manga. You're right though, we've got good times ahead.

nazpyro Feb 10, 2007 11:47 PM

Oh man, loving Bleach right now. I'm liking the Latin music they got going too with the Arrancar.

And they got to one of my favorite moments from the manga finally, that it even brought a sentimental tear to my right eye like it did when I read it...

Spoiler:
...the return of Rukia.

Having the other Shinigami there is also massive fun. =p

somedude2387 Feb 11, 2007 06:19 AM

Yeh the episodes now are sweet, I really enjoy waking up on the last few Fridays before Uni goes back knowing that a new episode of bleach is out. 114 was good but did anyone think...

Spoiler:
there was heaps of fan service in that ep or was it just me. The scene where Yoruichi was eating with just that top on seemed to last for a bit long. It was also funny how when all the Shinigami were walking down the school hallway it seemed as though the pair of breasts had dialogue

People have been saying that the anime is too close to the manga now and they'll probably have more fillers, just one question, are there any fillers out there in Bleach or Naruto or whatever that people think are good because everyone seems to complain about them.

Yeah, 114's animation and consistency as back up to what it was pre-Bounto. I was worried it was going to look like shit from then on (therefore ruining damn good manga scenes).

The manga is absolutely phenomenal now, and you can tell it's building up to something even with the major defeat of one of the characters and a ridiculous plot twist. For those of you who are following the manga, here's a link to chapter 262 where all this takes place.

BTW, I also like the theme they gave the Arrancar and, this may see minor, the sound the garganta makes when it opens/closes.

Spoiler:
There was already a good bit of fanservice in the chapter that this episode was made from, though they simply added more (Orihime's skirt during the bankai scene, for example) or lengthened what was already there to take up time.

So far, we've only had the Bounto arc. It was ok, but nowhere near as good as SS or what we've read of the Arrancar arc. Looking at what's happening in the manga at the moment, we'll probably see a filler arc. Hopefully not as long as the Bounto one, but filler nonetheless.

Piano Feb 14, 2007 01:48 PM

Which episode is the new story arc starting on? I skipped out the Bounto arc.

Summonmaster Feb 14, 2007 02:02 PM

Around 110 or so. They're only like 3 or 4 episodes into the new arc. If you see Hirako, the blond guy, flaoting around somewhere then you're at the right episode.

On that note, what chapter of the manga starts where they're at in the anime now? My friends keep teasing me about how "important" Inoue becomes later on and I guessed but I was only partly correct, so I want to catch up on what happens in advance.

The last episode (114) ends as manga chapter 195 ends. Totally awesome. <3

Metal Sphere Feb 15, 2007 11:52 PM

And yes, 110 is the first episode of the Arrancar arc. It was a long wait for those of us who waited for it, that's for sure.

115 was fucking amazing. The show's back up to where it was before in terms of animation quality and consistency, and the execution of the manga scenes was spot on. One thing that really got me riled up was
Spoiler:
the anime basically showing us that Ulquiorra is a Vasto Lorde, the strongest type of hollow. Oh the whole Yammy = Adjucha thing was surprising too
.

The anime's moving fast, or at least it seems that way. If the next episode they spend it mainly building up to the confrontation shown, that's a good sign they're pacing themselves.

Oh, Bleach Chapter 263 spoilers for you guys who are interested. Translated text + shots of the chapter inside.

http://www.narutomania.com/forums/bl...ers-60952.html

somedude2387 Feb 16, 2007 05:09 PM

Yeh 115 was good, I got goosebumps in one bit (when you watch it you'll know where). I does definately seem like it's building up to something awesome, I can't wait!! If other anime's or previous episodes of bleach are anything to go by then I think episode 120 is going to be SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET, most of my favourite episodes seem to be multiples of 10

yuna00 Feb 19, 2007 09:15 PM

still lovin the anime. but seriously...who knows then this series is going to finally END??

btw...when's the movie coming out?

Spoiler:
Rukia vs Kaien-Arrcanr and Renji vs Zaerapollo Grants fights.

265 is going to be wild, that's for sure. Now all we need to see is who Ishida is going to confront.

She's... going to get raped if he uses it. I don't even think he's even got one. Remember, he's not a shinigami anyone, but who knows what he can do now. Imagine if he actually releases.

Episode 116 came out last night. I saw it this morning and it's just a set up episode for upcoming fights. But I did enjoy it, it had good laughs in it. I especially liked the conversation about the onigiri, hahah.

Metal Sphere Mar 8, 2007 11:26 PM

Holy shit, 117 & 118 were awesome. D-Roy's encounter dragged on a little too long, but everything else was nicely down. 118 especially... damn. I like how they keep the battle going at a good clip, unlike quite a few shows. 119 won't be for another 2 weeks so it looks like they're giving the manga room to advance.

About that...
Spoiler:
Goddamn chapter 266. Arroniro who was claiming to be Kaien is some horrifying experiment thing after Rukia blew a hole in the wall. The light touched him and his disguise faded.

Digital_Divider Mar 9, 2007 12:49 AM

I have to say 118 was pretty damn awesome. Ikkaku kicked ass and took names.

I have a bit of a question though..
Spoiler:
Ikkaku released his bankai on earth.. I thought that, Ichigo being the exception, that they couldn't do that... are they just not allowed to? or can they regardless? Additionally I know I'm going to be flogged for this, but I never really got into the manga. anyone know if there is a torrent I can d/l and get up to speed?

Spoiler:
No, they can do Bankai one earth, it's just that VCs and Captains have so much reiatsu that it affects the real world, so they're limited to only 20% of it when there. Thing is, Ikkaku isn't a vice-captain nor a captain, so he had no limiter on him.

As for the manga, Bleach7.com has the manga all the way up to the latest one as well as raw images from 266 (which is a serious fucking shocker).

somedude2387 Mar 9, 2007 01:57 AM

Yeh I enjoyed 118 too
Spoiler:
Ikkaku having a bankai was cool, I didn't expect that of someone who's a third seat

A couple of questions for you guys
1. Watching the episodes it seems like the higher the number of the arrancar the weaker they are. If that's the case then Grimmjow being 6 or whatever he is would be right up there with probably Aizen, the 2 other ex-shinigami and Ulquiorra above him
2. When the Arrancar came down to earth and searched for people with spirit power shouldn't they have found the Vaizard as well or do the Vaizard hang out in Hueco too

Spoiler:

- Shawlong's going to explain the numbering system for the Arrancar in the next episode. Basically, the Numeros (Decimo Trecer, Sexto, etc...) are ranked in terms of seniority. The top 10 Arrancar are in a group called the Espada and are ranked by strength, #1 being the strongest. Yammy already mentioned he's the 10th, Ulquiorra hasn't stated his number and Grimmjow ID'd himself as #6 (Sexta Arrancar)

- Neither SS or Aizen even know of their existence, and later on you see why they couldn't detect them anyway. Needless to say, the series is going to heat up again. The animation was absolutely flawless, as was the pacing in the last few episodes.

I may be mistaken (or it may not have been said yet in the anime?), but I think Ikkaku is of a higher level (lieutenant?), but he wants to stay subordinate to Kenpachi Zaraki. <3 So he keeps his bankai a secret to avoid being promoted or something.

Yup, that's it. They're going to explain it in the next episode. There's a pretty good reason why he wants it a secret, and you'll also find out how far back Yamichka, Ikkaku and Zaraki go back.

The Plane Is A Tiger Mar 9, 2007 01:21 PM

118:
Ikkaku's bankai definitely raises his coolness factor. I liked him as comic relief before, but his Zanpakutou seemed kind of lame compared to others.

As for why he kept it hidden, I figured it was at least partially to keep Zaraki from challenging him on a daily basis. Knowing Zaraki there'd be no end to it until he had a definitive victory.

somedude2387 Mar 25, 2007 08:34 PM

Ahhh after 2 weeks 119 came out woot! In that extra week I was watching some old episodes and there were a few things I didn't get
Spoiler:
In episode 54 when Ichigo goes to save Rukia and Ukitake uses that family crest thing to stop the execution you're not really told how it can stop something as strong as a million zanpaktou. Does the manga say anything else about this. Also how did the captain of the healing squad become a captain? When she releases her zanpaktou that weird whale thing seems to come out which seems to be useless to fight with

I think the episodes in the 50's are probably my favourite, especially 58 (if you've seen that ep you know which bit inparticular I'm talking about) when he kicks ass without his sword in 54 is pretty awesome too

jouhou Apr 12, 2007 02:06 PM

Ep. 121
Woooa, awesome episode. I read the manga for these fights but I think the anime was way better. Especially Ichigo's fight.
Spoiler:
It was awesome to see how badly Ichigo got owned by Grimmjow. Yay for shiny blood. I liked that new song used when Ichigo had the flash backs when he was pounded on. Very sad and mellow song. I can't wait to see next weeks episode. Ishida should be getting his powers back.

somedude2387 Apr 12, 2007 08:05 PM

Yeh 121 was really good. The animation was soooo good, really impressive. I'm annoyed that the theme songs been changed though, the old one was one of my favourite theme songs ever, so catchy

LiveTendiser Apr 13, 2007 07:48 PM

Spoiler:
On 121, when Grimmjow was beating the shit out of Ichigo, the fuckin sound effects kicked ass! When he uppercuted him, my speakers boomed, and we were all like, "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!"

Metal Sphere Apr 19, 2007 01:06 AM

Wow, the manga is fucking rollingseeing as the latest chapters have been fantastic. Beware the spoilers if you don't follow the manga, though that should be obvious.

Bleach chapters 270-272:

Ulquiorra breaking the news to Ichigo that Rukia's down for the count (she's probably not dead) and the conflict afterwards were pretty nice. The pacing was brisk, keeping that sense of urgency Ichigo must have when he's trying to make the most of those eleven seconds.

Unfortunately, Ulquiorra's #4, two steps up from GJ whom he couldn't off. The short, but sweet counterattack from our Emo Espada had ole Ichigo's head spinning and the rank revelation killed his hopes on the spot.

This newest chapter has Ishida taking on #8 (Zael) since Renji's losing, and Grimmjow apparently coming to save Orihime from Loli and Menoli. Those two are definitely doing their best to turn her into a humanoid sack of meat.

Definitely can't wait to see all this animated, and with the manga progressing at this rate, my fears of another filler season look like they're unfounded.

Yeah, just had to say that "rank revelation" was a bit of a dagger to Ichigo's hopes. Sorry, I have to use the word whenever it's opportune. =p

The animations for these should be amazing. Yes.

Metal Sphere Apr 24, 2007 04:49 PM

Well, 122 is available.

Bleach 122:
Looks like a setup episodes and pretty much stuck to the manga, though I'm pleased with how they're using the filler characters. They essentially use them as comic relief or devices to stop the plot and eat up time.

They've finally reached the part where Ichigo finds the Vizards and the whole Ichigo/Hollow thing gets explained further. I can't wait for the next episode. Those of you who've read the manga probably know why.

WolfDemon May 8, 2007 01:29 AM

I used to watch this way before it came out here, but I stopped in the middle of that godawful Bounto Arc. I'd like to start watching again, so could someone tell me which episode is a good one to start on and give a brief summary of what's happened by the end of the Bounto Arc?

The Plane Is A Tiger May 8, 2007 02:00 AM

The Bounto arc ended at either ep. 108 or 109. As for a summary of what's important to note:

Spoiler:
I don't know how far you got, but the Bound (I prefer that translation) were created by the Shinigami. Uryuu temporarily regained his powers using a Quincy relic and let the Bound into Soul Society since everyone is more powerful there, without realizing they could regenerate using the spirit particles.

Once they actually started fighting there the Bound were each killed off pretty quickly except for the strong guy and Kariya. Hitsugaya didn't finish off the strong guy, so he now lives secretly in the forests somewhere. He was overly sentimental and didn't really want to destroy everything. Kariya's plan turned out to be detonating these big spirit generators buried under the Seireitei, but they were deactivated in time. Kariya was almost beaten by Uryuu, but the relic broke and Bankai Ichigo had to finish the job, as always.

Oh, and Kariya's doll was the wind itself. Just to explain how his attacks worked.

somedude2387 May 11, 2007 05:28 AM

Just wondering what volume the bleach manga is up to. My friend started getting it and I'm thinking about getting half each so we don't need to spend as much

Benjamin please May 11, 2007 05:30 AM

The bount arc ended at episode 109. It ended pretty well, even if you hated the arc since
Spoiler:
kariya gets freaking destroyed.

The new arc is based (more or less) on ichigo's inner battle, which some of you may know about, and some of you may not.
Also, you learn alot about what the hell Aizen's really doing, and you get to meet about a dozen new characters that seem to be pretty dynamic.

So get episodes 109-125 (current). Some of them rock. Some of them are crappy filler, but they're all worth watcing in my opinion.

Again, you can get them from Dattebayo.

According to Bleach7, there's no anime this week.

Chapter 276:
Wow, it looks like Ichigo's dead and Grimmjow's brought Orihime to revive him.

Will Jun 14, 2007 01:33 AM

I'm bumping this for the sole purpose of complaining about the new episode. Holy crap, that was bad...like, DBZ bad. They might as well have skipped this week, because nothing freaking happened. And with no Naruto tomorrow, I'm really feeling shafted.

somedude2387 Jun 14, 2007 07:51 PM

Yeh there are definite shades of DBZ. You think that the decisive battle is going to come soon but then you get hit with a multitude of episodes where you are pretty much screaming at the characters on screen because the problem is so obvious. Oh well, I have faith in the writers abilities to make awesome fight scenes when the time comes so I guess I'll just be patiently waiting for that.

Ch291 Spoilers
Spoiler:
Omg, Nel is so awesome. I had no clue Nel was a girl, hahah. But that chapter was cool. She swallowed a cero and spat it back out. The fan-colored page of her is nice but I don't think she'll be a blonde unless there was already a colored cover with her in it but that'll be too much like Matsumoto. #3 FTW!!

Metal Sphere Sep 17, 2007 03:08 PM

Ch291 Spoilers
Spoiler:
Her hair and outfit is a teal color, jouhou. There was a color spread with her in it a while back. It was definitely a surprise to see her all grown, and Kubo still managed to keep her cute looking. The ranking things was a massive surprise, though it makes me wonder if there aren't extra Espada.

#10 - Yami
#9 - Aaro (Dead)
#8 - Zael
#7 - ???
#6 - Grimmjow (Down for the count)
#5 - Noitora
#4 - Ulquiorra (should be back any moment)
#3 - Nel
#2 - ???
#1 - ???

Could it be that she's the old #3? Or that there are two Espada members holding the same rank?

jouhou Sep 17, 2007 07:09 PM

Teal, huh? Nice.
Yeah, I'm confused about the ranking.

So Grimmjow lost his arm and lost his rank, #6, to Luppi. So before Grimmjow lost his arm, shouldn't Luppi be #7? but Luppi isn't in the pictures of the 10 Espadas.

Yeah, here's a picture that has the colors close to what Kubo used.

Chapter 290 and 291:

As for the ranking...
Spoiler:
Luppi was #6 for a while, but was killed before that picture showed up, with GJ reclaiming his spot. Now that we know what we know about him, we can see why he didn't hesitate in killing Luppi. That picture's been analyzed to death in various Bleach communities and basically you can't guess who's rank is what from that alone.

Heh, seems like Stark is a really popular guess for #1. I'd be great if it was something as leisurely as him, though.

nazpyro Sep 18, 2007 01:11 PM

Oh hey, here's the Bleach thread! Yeah, I read 290 and had no place to express my psych-titude.

Spoiler:
Yeah, Nel is a little bit hot. =o I didn't know he (she) was a girl neither. The storyline just got that much cooler (hotter) now.

SouthJag Oct 22, 2007 08:45 PM

Bohahah, I found the Bleach thread. I only recently started watching it, but I got really into it really quickly. Up to episode 125 or something.

Anyway, I came here to ask a favor. Does anyone have a decent quality rip of the very first opening song -- Asterisk, by Orange Range -- in mp3? I downloaded one, but it sounds like somebody recorded it from a set of speakers. Volume's real low and everything sounds muffled.

The Plane Is A Tiger Oct 22, 2007 09:12 PM

Here's a pretty good quality version of Asterisk.

But wait--there's more!

I got into Bleach very quickly, too. This anime just grabs you. And, I can't believe how long it has been running in Japan, both manga and anime-wise.

Rockgamer Oct 22, 2007 10:27 PM

I had been watching Bleach on Adult Swim for the last year or so, but now that they've stopped airing it I've switched over to the fansubbed version. I don't know why, but for some reason it's more addicting to watch in this form (maybe because I can watch it at my own pace or something, which will suck once I catch up to the current episodes).

Also, I just had to throw in that I freakin' love the third OP, "Ichirin no Hana". This is quickly becoming my favorite anime OP ever.

Yeah, it's strangely addictive. I had a friend pestering me to watch it for months before I finally caved, and I caught up within only a few days. Sure it was only in the 60-70 range at the time, but that's an impressive pace for me.

"Rolling Star" is by far my favorite Bleach OP so far. It starts around the end of the Bound arc, and I think it's the 5th one.

They haven't stopped airing it. They took a break so the weekday episodes wouldn't out run the weekend episodes. They are only running weekday episodes, with Death Note airing on the weekend.

In fact, Bleach should be coming on in about 8 minutes.

Although it seems I failed to clarify. :p Do you have just the TV edit? I think it's on the first OST's soundtrack, actually.

The Plane Is A Tiger Oct 23, 2007 12:25 AM

Nope, I never bother to keep TV edits around unless they're all I can find. Even if I download an entire OST I tend to seek out the full versions of the OP & ED to replace them.

SouthJag Oct 23, 2007 12:54 AM

Ah. I listened to the full version you linked, and it's a good song, don't get me wrong. Anyone happen to have a decent quality TV edit or Asterisk?

Comment probably driven on the fact that the beginning riff sounds better :)

Gettin' it now. Thanks!

I didn't mean they stopped airing the series in general, I just meant they stopped airing new episodes. There hasn't been any word on when they'll start back to airing new episodes again, and all the ones they air throughout the week are still reruns (this is at least the second time they've cycled through episodes on the weekday, so I don't think catching up to the ones on the weekend was a concern).

I heard people say that one of the reasons they stopped airing new episodes is because they needed time to dub more episodes. Don't know how true that is, but I wouldn't be surprised since they've been showing a new episode almost every week for about a year now. Plus, Toonami stopped Naruto at a time for the same reason, so it's most likely true.

I don't like that version. I was really upset that the beat changed. I think they came out with the tv version first then re-did the song for the single, or something like that.

I prefer the tv version even if it's only a minute and a half.
So here's the TV-RIP version.

I should of put in my last response that if you diddnt like this version, I'd do a tv-rip (which has already been done, thanks!)

I wouldn't say most likely--I would say it IS true. They did the same thing with InuYasha. I checked the Adult Swim website, and they have up to episode 30 planned for the weekdays. So, that takes us well into next month.

I wonder if they're going to do the Bleach movie?

Rockgamer Oct 23, 2007 10:01 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if they did show the movie eventually, since they have a pretty good track record for showing the movies of series they air (I think the only ones they haven't showed so far is the FMA movie (they said they were going to sometime last year, but they never did) and the GitS: SAC movie (since Sci-Fi aired it)).

K_ Takahashi Oct 23, 2007 10:21 PM

I have to say with the Naruto movies getting aired, the Bleach movie has a high possibility, though I don't imagine seeing that one up until this time next year at the earliest.

Thanks jouhou! That was exactly what I was looking for. K_Takahashi, thanks for your link too though, cuz I liked the song by itself anyway.

I like "My Pace." The ending song for that arc. I don't know if it's just the music, or the ending credits that made me like it.

jouhou Oct 26, 2007 05:14 PM

Unfortunately, the internets say after two more episodes it's going to be fillers. The pace is still pretty good for me. I just hope the pace of each episode stays good even after fillers.

Friendly Reminder: Please remember to use spoiler tags since not everyone reads the manga.
CH 296
Spoiler:
Hmm.. Nel's released form is a centaur. It's ok, I guess. Centaur gives me a connotation of brute strength. I was hoping for something strong and elegant. What do others think of her released form?

CH 297 (RAW) SPOILERS!!
Spoiler:

Holy Jesus!! Zaraki in Hueco Mundo!! This is so awesome that I'm gonna learn to do backflips to celebrate. I wonder who else went? Probably Toushiro, Matsumoto, Yumichika, and Ikaku (based on the pictures from the previous opening theme credits in the anime)

Kimchi Nov 2, 2007 05:05 PM

Chater 298 Chinese Raw:
Hell yes, Kenpachi Zaraki, Mayuri Kurotsuchi, Byakuya Kuchiki and Retsu Unohana to the rescue!

At first I thought (un)fortunately Ichigo will learn new power-up after getting beat up by number 5.

SouthJag Nov 2, 2007 10:07 PM

Rather than make an entire thread for it (which would surely close nearly after its creation) and since I've already asked a similar question --

Does anyone have the soundtrack for Bleach that's willing to share? I just realized there're a handful of songs I'd like to have.

Will Nov 3, 2007 01:14 AM

Well, thanks for the reminder, I finally managed to find "Hanabi" again. I like that track. XD I did a little poking around and found Gendou's Music. Seems like they have a decent selection of individual tracks. Otherwise, just hit up the torrent sites.

Conan-the-3rd Nov 3, 2007 03:55 AM

Hehehe, Just watched 146 of the anime, totaly called Tomoko Kaneda playing Nell right.

SouthJag Nov 6, 2007 01:25 AM

Hate to bring the topic of the OST back up, but I just realized there are two songs I'm looking for, but neither the first or second OST have them, from what I can tell.

The first is the song that plays when Ichigo is training with Uruhara, and he gains his resolve. It's during the second half of the episode fairly near the end, when he lifts his sword into the air. Link.

The second song appears a lot in the series. It's on this particular episode, where Yoruichi's explaining the concept of Bankai to Ichigo fairly early on in the episode.
Link.

jouhou Nov 6, 2007 07:39 PM

When who raises their sword? Urahara or Ichigo?
During Urahara: that track is unreleased, during Ichigo: just a variation of "Number 1" with no vocal (I don't think they'll ever release a "number 1" track without vocal.)

The last one is also unreleased.

So far, no new about OST3. I've been waiting for a while now.

How Unfortunate Mar 9, 2009 09:24 PM

Lets get this thread up again.

So I was watching Bleach last year. Started OK and got steadily better. I was enjoying immensely the Soul Society arc, limped through Bounto arc, and then just had to take a break once the Arrancar filler started up. I stopped watching for about 8 months.

It helped. Just have to keep taking breaks every so often through this filler.

That said, a spoiler-light rant about the Kasumi-Ooji filler:
Spoiler:
What the HELL was with the cut to this filler?! Ichigo just has a dramatic victory, the whole team is still quite possibly fucked, deep in enemy territory, and they just cut away to normal life, do their little arc (which was decent filler, but still), and then cut right back. All the way mocking the business executives in their "end of the episode" cute scenes.

And then they do it again! When the filler character says "I'll see you again Ichigo" I'm like yeah fucking right. But they do show up again! In the same arc! While Ichigo and team is still behind enemy lines and deep in shit! These are the worst, most flowbreaking, poorly handled filler transitions I've ever seen.

Also, about Chad/Sado's upgrade and my thoughts on him in general:
Spoiler:
Thank god he got that second arm. I hope it makes his fights more interesting to watch. At first I thought Chad had a pretty cool backstory, but he's become such a boring one-liner one-dimensional character, and his fights were the worst. Just straight punching and blasting at the guy, until he wins by brute endurance. OR he just gets insta-pwned. Plus, his only contribution to dialogue, dry straight-man humour, Ishida Uryu can do better anyway!

Manga question:
Spoiler:
My friend who reads the manga said Uryu has a big crush on Inoue Otohime. Like, a giant obvious one. Is that true? I mean in the anime there's like no hint that he's particularily interested at all. If it's true, maybe I need to read the manga to not miss things...is there enough difference to make reading the manga worth it if I'm enjoying the story?

It also strengthens my belief that if there is a romantic resolution (which is an IF in shonen), then Inoue's getting shafted.

For you guys talking about the soundtrack, get the movie soundtracks, they're basically show OSTs and have some of the better music.

Also, fun-fact: I found an online store selling some series 1 bleach figurines for $0.00. No shit. I even tried joke ordering 100 and it still cost $0.00. But I didn't get them. Because a) I didn't want to be on the hook, b) there's still shipping cost, and c) these figures were fantastically ugly.

chato May 1, 2009 07:37 AM

For this thread to not come up is for good reason : Its dragging on too long for a villian who is , hands down, the worst character ever created. That aside :

Manga

Spoiler:
The anime pretty much shows alot of signs of Uryuu havin a crush on her (one of them being when she made a shirt for her). However, this lovers quarrel is just a one-sided deal since Inoue shows that she loves Ichigo before she left for Las Noches. I currently know whats going on in the manga. Possiblities are not endless but should lead to an ephemeral and boring plot twist. Really.. no one cares. I care that this story should end. If it does then I'll call it a decent series only because they were able to keep a shitty villianous character on point and connected with other characters who we thought weren't.

taxam May 23, 2009 02:25 PM

Unfortunately the anime/manga got too fast too boring on my side.
