Do You Get As Much Sleep As You Should?
Do you get enough sleep? If someone was asking me this question no would be the answer. I go to bed at about 10:00 and wake up at about 3:00.
|
I always get 7+ hours, preferably odd number of hours and or minutes. Don't know why but I always feel better when I wake up from 7, 9 or 11 hours of sleep or say like 8 hours and 30 mins of sleep and etc.
|
Defenitely not. On the weekdays, i'm prone to sleeping around 11pm-2am and having to wake up at 6am for school.
Even if I try to make it up on the weekends, my internal clock won't allow me to sleep that long. I'd probably sleep maybe 1 or 2 more hours than I normally do. |
I get anywhere from 7 to 10 hours of sleep. And about 2 times of the week, I get about 4 hours.... just because I stay up to late and class is at 8:30am.
|
Hahaha - sleep.
Actually - since my profs went on strike, I've been getting a decent amount of sleep for me - about 6 hours most nights. When I'm flight planning and/or studying though, the number of hours spent asleep ranges from 2-4 usually per 24 hour period. |
I'm always being told that I don't get as much sleep as I should, and to be honest, they're right.
Usually I'm asleep by 12am, though it varies, as I have to be up by 9am every weekday. At the weekends it's usually whenever I feel tired enough. |
I usually get about 6-7 hours sleep every night. But on weekends, it is not uncommon for me to get 10-12 hours sleep. What can I say, I love sleep.
|
I usually get 5 hours of crappy sleep. Though I've done it so long, I can fully function on only 5 hours.
|

What is "as much sleep as you should" anyway? I heard there's some dude in Cambodia who hasn't slept for 25 years! I think if I get 6~7 hours of sleep during the week, then that's okay. |
I get about 5 hours sleep a night if I'm lucky. My body clock doesn't really let me sleep alot I'm not sure why because I'm always knackard. But if I try to sleep in i get serious headaches. However there odd times when it lets me sleep alot for instance today i didn't get to sleep while 6 in the morning n i woke up at 2 in the afternoon so i got 8 hours but thats once every blue moon i can do it.
|
I don't get at least eight hours of sleep a night during weekdays. I probably average about 6-7 hours during normal semester days, and I still find myself feeling tired in the morning. During summer vacation, I probably have an average of 9-10 hours of sleep per night.
|
On a good night i'll get at least 6-7 hours. I usualy get a lot less than that however because i'm more of a night person. Usualy, i'll go to sleep at about 2-3 AM, even on school nights. I feel fine though, if i got more sleep (say from 10-7:15 which is the usual time i wake up for school) i would feel absolutely knackered. My sleeping patterns are really odd i know
|
jeez all you people, sleep more! .... on weekdays i usually go to bed anywhere from 12:00 to 1:00. On mondays i wake up at 7:50. On tuesdays I wake up at 8:50. On wednesdays i wake up at 7:50 again. On thursdays i wake up at 8:50 again. Finally on fridays i wake up at 9:50, Woot! On the weekend i wake up no earlier then 11:00 and go to bed no later then 2:00. Thats how it goes for me
|
Not really.
I typically get 6-7 hours of sleep most nights, and whenever I wake up I feel like dirt. I remember on one occasion I had to function on 30 minutes of sleep. This was when I had to work until 9 one night and go in at 6am the next morning. I had a headache all day to be sure. |
I wish... I can sleep upwards of 16 hours if left alone. I rarely get 7 hours of sleep anymore. This is only going to get worse because of my upcoming Navy training.
|
My sleeping patterns are really messed up. Most week nights, I'll go to bed around 11-12am and wake up at 7am, so that's not so bad, but I always sleep in so late on the weekends, so Sunday night I can't get to bed until 1 or 2am, then Monday I'm exhausted. I can't function properly on less than 6 hours of sleep unfortunately.
I remember in high school I'd stay up until 4am and wake up at 9am. I don't know how I did it. I suppose it's a sign of getting old. :( |
In my first 2 years of college, I average about 2 hours of sleep per night. This was in the dorms. There was a stretch of time where I was up for 120 hours. Good times. When I would go home, I'd sleep more.
I have since lost that ability. My junior year, I moved into an apartment, where living conditions are just so much more comfortable. I get 8 hours a night quite often now (especially since my class load has been a lot less my last 3 semesters). Maybe twice a week I'll go with 2-4 hours of sleep, but for the most part, I get my 7-8. |

I actually get too much sleep for my own good.
|
I wish. Monday through Friday I'll get from 4-7 hours of sleep. Getting up at 6 for school is such a bitch. I have tennis practice at 9 on saturdays, so I have to wake up early then, too. I get to sleep late one day a week.
|
Nope. I don't think so, but then again, I get the same hours of sleep on some days and Im damn tired on those days, even though I have the same schedule. Most of the time, I get about.... 5-7 hours of sleep, but if I don't get enough sleep in the morning, I get stressed out and that results in diarrhea, which means a very bad day at school.
|
not at all... i sleep between 4 to 6 hours every weekday and now im not sleeping that many hours in the weekend neither :(
|
I get 4 and less hours of sleep each day. Except for the weekends, Saturday to Sunday. I get about 7 hours then.

On weekdays, I typically get between 4 to 6 hours of sleep. I have this issue where I feel like a zombie throughout the day if I get anywhere between 6.5-9 hours of sleep. It has to be less, or more, so when I have the choice of getting 7 hours of sleep or 4 hours, I'd choose 4. I concentrate better on the "extremes." :p On the weekends, I usually get 14 hours of sleep if I go to bed around 11. If I stay up until 3 or something, I'll probably get only 9 hours of sleep. I'm sure this is an unhealty practice. I love sleeping, but I hate going to bed!
|
I remember being told that, on average, necessary amount of sleep is six-and-a-half hours. I get enough sleep by the average, I suppose. If I don't in a given week, I make it up on the weekend.
|
On weekdays, I get 5-6 hours of sleep, which sucks because I need more. I'm usually tired during the day, and feel awake during the nights. Stupid Internet keeping me up.
On weekends though, I usually sleep for 8 hours, sometimes a little bit more or less. |
Geez I dont get much sleep at all these days.. I got to sleep around 4 am.. Cuz my favorite show is on 3:00 am and lasts an hour.
I wake up around 1, and that kinda eats the hell out of my day right there.. I wish they would bump the time slot up for starhunter ... YES that;s right, star hunter.. Wanna fight about it?! I like Tanya Allens acting skills on that show, plus simple story lines, very low budget.. Really inspires you on what you can accomplish if you have an idea and want to follow through on it. Well time to go eat breakfast (seriously) it's 2:00 pm lol!! .dc |
i usually get about 4-6 hours a sleep a night.
even when i dno't need to get up early i still usually wake up sometime early and don't go back to sleep. it's when i fall back asleep that i feel bogged down for hte day |
Better at least get six hours of sleep tonight because I have wonderful(sarcastic)school tomorrow.
|
Lately, with being sick and all, I've been making a point of going to bed as early as I can. Usually though I think I'm getting about 6 hours of sleep, so anything more is bonus.
There was a time when I would operate regularly on only 2 to 4 hours of sleep every night. Those were good times, but I'm already too old to be doing that it seems. Oh well, maybe when I start going back to school again I will, see what happens. |
Sleep for me, it is a thing of the past due to the fact that i barely get any sleep.. I do maybe like 4 hours or so a night due to my insomina(sp) and my roommates being dicks.
|
I'm normally too "busy" chatting on #gfchat late at night to sleep, so I end up going to bed around 3 or 4. That kinda sucks when you have to be at school by 7:30, but whatever. I make up for it in class.
|
I definitely don't get enough sleep. Like yesterday, instead of going to bed at midnight, I stayed up until 4am and I had to get up at 8am. I try to get at least 7 or 8 hours of sleep and saying I'll go to bed by 12am or 1am. Unfortunately, I never do that. I go to bed between 2:45am and almost 5am everyday. Most of the time I have to get up by 8am or 9am. I suppose that's why I haven't been feeling too grand the past couple of days.

Most of the time I do. The only exception is on Monday and Wednesday nights. I usually like to stay up late, like til at least 1AM, but I have to be at school early on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The problem is, I still stay up, even on those days. Other than that, I get plenty of sleep most of the time.
|
I work, so I have to get enough sleep to make it through the 8+ hour workday. I go to bed at around 9:30-10:00PM (with sleep following soon after) and awaken around 5:30AM. I don't get the optimal amount of sleep though, I am tired most of the day and only during my days off do I truely feel rested. This is to be expected though, work + any lost sleep will always make someone tired. Even losing one hour of sleep on a semi-consistent basis will at least slightly impair your ability to work at your peak.
Speak of the devil, I'm getting tired now, 15 minutes and I'll be clocking out for the night. |
Don't know what it is, but only within the past couple months I've started getting no more than 8 hours of sleep. I'll get less if I stay up too late, but if I have more than 8 hours between falling asleep and when my alarm is supposed to go off, I'm still only getting 8 hours of sleep. This contrasts sharply with my sleeping patterns when working at Circuit City (8+ hours always) and school (8 hours would be a blessing :p).

Most nights I sleep enough but sometimes I worry I go to sleep too late. I sleep at 5AM on weekends but end up waking up at 5PM the next day, and weekdays I usually sleep at 2AM and wake up at 1PM.
I remember there was this study I read about that the later you sleep, the proportion of sleep required to feel rested rises with each hour after 11PM or something. So I may be getting 10-12 hours a night but sometimes I feel like it's not enough for my body since I get tired a lot, especially late afternoon. I was thinking I'm going to look like I'm 50 when I turn 25, I need to curb my sleeping habits. College just doesn't play well into a normal schedule. |
I sleep around 6 hours total each night, except I tend to wake up at random hours. So in the end, I'm always tired in school and just about anywhere else.
All the caffeine I take in does not help matters either. |
Back when I was on a tight schedule because of school and had set my alarm for 6 a.m. every morning, I definately didn't get enough sleep. I'd be up til 1 a.m. or so before falling asleep.
Now with two online courses and a night class that starts at 5:30 p.m. I get about 7-9 hours every night. |
It's about 1:30, I have to wake up at 6 for classes. Yeah.
I do sleep in on the weekends though, and being in third quarter of senior year means many classes really don't require attention anyway. |
normally i get 5 hours sleep which is not very enough since i do many extra-curriculums other than just going to school.
I guess we need about 7-8 hours of sleep. Weekends i tend to get 6-7 hours of sleeps. |
"No" would be my answer for this question. I'm a sleep-deprived college kid. Usually a lot of things to do and meetings/activities to attend, then plus the homework that I have to do after I get home... So I normally go to bed around 2AM (trying to go to bed by 1AM now), then waking up at 8 or 8:30, sometimes at 7 (for Wednesdays only). Since I don't get enough sleep during weekdays, that's why I sleep in until 2 or 3 in the afternoon on weekends.
|
Like Yunnie, I'm a sleep-deprived college kid. My schedule this year has gotten crazy with classes, work, socializing and single-handedly running a club so it's really screwed up my sleep schedule.
Not that I'm not loving every minute of it. :) So I'd guess I'd get about 6-7 hours, but it's the wrong 6-7 hours so I still feel tired all the time. Maybe an hour or two more on weekends, but waking up early during the week means I now suck at sleeping late. Last week, I got a total of 16 hours for the whole week, but I felt like crap this weekend, so I'm going to try to avoid doing that again. |

I always aim to get 7 hours of sleep. Anything less and it tends to take a toll on me (with intensity and frequency factored in). In fact, sometimes I'm not even able to wake up until I've had 7 hours of sleep, as I'll turn off my alarms and crawl back into bed subconsiously. However, on weekends, often I'll get 10+ hours of sleep, because I love to lay in bed.
|
Too much.
I go to sleep at 10:30 usually on weekdays, and wake up at 8:10. That's what, 9 hours and 40 minutes? Maybe I should enjoy it while I can. The joys of middle school. |
I've been averaging about 5 or 6 hours recently. It's not enough because I'm always tired, and I'm quite an active person. There's no reason, I wouldn't go as far to say I have insomnia but I can't get to sleep til about half one and then I wake up an hour or more before I need to get up. It's beginning to piss me off >.<
|
Once I had to pull an all-nighter for the activities that my organization had to do, so I went for almost 48 hours straight without sleeping. The side-effect of that was getting sick for two weeks, plus napping for at least 2 hours everyday in the week followed.
|
Usually during the week (during school), I go to bed at 1am and wake up at 6am. It always catches up too me on the weekends so I sleep in till 1 or 2 in the afternoon.
|
Well, sometimes I get enough sleep, but usually I don't get enough sleep, especially on school nights. School nights, the usual maximum amount of sleep that I get is 7 hours. But, most of the time, I get about 5 to 6 hours of sleep on school nights, and of course, as everyone probably is quite familiar with, the all-nighters that I have pulled for homework assignments, meaning I definitely don't get enough sleep. However, on weekends, I usually at least manage to scavenge about 9 hours of sleep.
|
haha... that would be a no... 5 hrs a night if im lucky...which isnt horrible, but i kno its not enough... from school... crafting... (Trituration!~.^) and a girlfriend... no sleep is expected... lol
|
6-7 hours on average, depends on assignments and stuff as well since finals are approaching
|
I always try to get a few hours of sleep. Even during finals time, when I should be studying, I just have to sleep because I always hit that wall where I can't even concentrate. It refreshes my brain.
When academics aren't concerned, I usually can go without sleep for about a day. But I turn into a zombie and feels like I'm dreaming, even though I'm awake. Bottom line is, I need sleep every day, even though it may be just for a couple hours. |
recently i've been getting 9-11 hours of sleep, WAY too much. There's the perfect amount for people my age and that's 8 hours. I've been oversleep so I feel tired the whole day.
|
I thought I posted here already.
Well, considering how it's 12:53 a.m. now, I think I'm not getting enough sleep. I usually sleep at 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. but in order to make up for that, I sleep till noon usually. 8 hours should cut it, but 10 would probably be healthier. |
I feel worse when I oversleep than when I sleep too little. When's school's in I usually have the biggest case of sleep deprivation since I usually went to bed at around 12-1AM and got up at 6-7AM. [depending on whether or not I had a before-school class] It was fucking hell because it is ALWAYS hard for me to get up in the morning, no matter how much sleep I get.
Now it's summer, and in the past summers I'd always go to bed at liek 4AM and get up at ridiculous times like 1PM and shit, but that's just horrible so I'm trying to make an effort at fixing my sleep schedule. Right now it's 1AM, and I'll probably go to bed in an hour but I have to get up at 8AM for work tomorrow. That's 6 hours, I can function pretty normally on 6 hours though. Ideally, I'd sleep at 2AM and get up at 10AM. That's ideal. Anything later and I hate myself for it. |
I always get anywhere between six and eight hours. My problem is sometimes I´ll get six between 2am and 8am, and sometimes eight between 10pm and 6am. The amount isn´t the problem, just my lack of letting my body get used to a regular schedule. Last night I walked my niece to her grandmother´s and shit like that tends to set you back.
|
I dont go into work until 2:00 now, so I get more sleep then I should. If I worked a normal 9-5 I would proably only get about 4 hours.
|
I think there was a thread like this before.
Anyway, I'm quite sure I get enough sleep. I go to bed around 9:30pm every night (10:30 or 11:00 on weekends) and I wake up at 6:00am (usually 8:00 or 9:00 on weekends). So what is that, like 8 or 9 hours? Sleep is pretty much the best thing in the world, if you ask me. |
3 to 4 hrs for me :S due to my ambition. Do think it abit sad dol :S so less sleep life crap for me :O
|
Now that I'm on summer vacation, it's anywhere from 12-14 hours. I actually wish I could curb it down so that by the time I wake up most of the morning isn't already gone.
I wonder what it's like for i-banking analysts. Regularly working 16-24 hour days, even on weekends, must be brutal. |
Now that it is summer, up to 12 hours if I feel like it, although normally it would be more around 8.
Otherwise I'd be lucky to get 7 hours in on non-leisure days. |
Depends on when I work, but I can usually get a solid 6 hours if I'm working in the morning, and 8-9 if I work in the afternoon.
|

Seriously, during this summer when I have been lazy to get up and jog I would get nearer 10 hours sleep. During the University period however, I would be lucky to get in 8 hours. In my mindset if I don't get around 10 hours sleep I could find myself tired, particularly when I am in University. When I return home I usually fall asleep because I am too tired. So yes I definitely get enough sleep during the summer, and often enough during University time. |
I suffer insomnia, so I get to sleep 3 hours per night. In the past 3 days I've slept around 4 hours. The thing is, somedays I come home early and I get sleepy... and those are the days where I sleep around 6 hours. It's not too often, but it happens. :)
Lately I've found a way of sleeping more (I was beginning to get way too tired). I sleep for 1 hour, then wake up (alarm). Eat something and then go again and sleep another hour. This way I've been able to sleep around 7 hours a night (which is like a record to me). Anyway... sleeping is for the weak. ^^ |
I'm starting to get more sleep than I originally had being in school and all. Now, I go to bed anywhere between 12:30am and 2am, which is much better than the 3am and 4am I was doing all the time.
|
Since I'm inbetween jobs, I'm staying up later than normal, so my schedule's a little out of sync... But normally I sleep somewhere around midnight - 6 A.M. Supposedly 6-7 hours of sleep is a good amount (Though you growing kids out there need more), so I just go with 6'ish.
|
About six hours a night I guess. Except weekends, they're a mystery grab bag of sleeping time! I really should get more sleep whenever I have class the next day though, because there's like forty minutes of walking involved to get there and I'll pretty much be shuffling along like a zombie with broken rollerskates.
|
As of late I've been getting somewhere near < 6 hours a night, as my friend put it ''feeling like I've been started up in safe mode''.
Just havent had the same ammount of energy in days -,-. |
On weekdays, i go to bed around 2300 and wake up around 0700. so that's 8 ours, exactly what a persoon needs. although i am really sleeping around 2400. But i can get some extra at school :-P
|
It jumps around depending on schedule and previous night's sleep. For instance, I slept fourteen hours yesterday. I've now been up for almost 24 hours, meaning I'll get little to no sleep tonight. My sleep cycle has been pretty messed up since I quit my job.
|
Well, I try to get 8 hours minimum. I have to get up at 8 in the morning to get ready for school but I try to get to bed for 11pm. On most wednesdays and saturdays I can sleep for about 10 hours on average. Even if I get my minimum of 8 hours I'm still pretty fucking knackered. If I get less than that I just shut down.
|
I should sleep 8 hours, but I usually only get 6 hours. 6 is too little for me.
Funny thing is that I don't want to go to bed in the evening, and when I wake up in the morning, I don't want to get out! |
I get 8-9 hours during the week. At weekends anything up to 12 hours. So long as I get at least 7 hours sleep a night I'm alright.
|
For years I suffered with horrible insomnia. I was lucky to sneak in an average of six hours every two nights. Getting to sleep was a big problem for me, and you can't just constantly hit the sleeping pills - it's bad for you. Fortunately, that's behind me, now. I still have a difficult time getting to sleep, but I manage to get a full night, between 7 and 8 hours most nights.
I still feel like a zombie for the first couple of hours after waking up, but then I always have. I guess it's just normal. On a side note, once I actualy get to sleep, I've always been an extremely heavy sleeper. Almost legendarily so. |
During term, I usually only wind up getting six hours of sleep or so. I get thirteen plus when I'm not on campus, so it's all balanced out.
|
During the school year I was only getting about 6 or 7 hours of sleep every night, which wasn't enough. Now that it's summer, I get 9 or 10 hours of sleep, and it seems to be a good amount.
