New Year's Resolutions 2007!

Hey guys and gals!
Happy New Year 2007!
So what does everyone have in mind for their New Year's resolutions of 2007?

My List :
1. Quit smoking ... permanently
2. Find a new career away from home
3. Exercise 3 times a week minimum
4. Solve all problems as soon as possible
5. Get a new computer

I'll keep adding stuff once I think about it, but yeah, I got a lot of goals in mind!

Adara Jan 1, 2007 12:30 AM

I am honestly going to try and stop cussing regularly. It has become vulgar and unbecoming and it needs to stop. Another more silly resolution of mine is that I want to cook something with a vegetable I've never tried at least once every couple of weeks or even every week if I can manage it. I've also decided to make time every day for some exercise and for some "me" time.

Good luck with quitting, Tomahawk.

Locke Jan 1, 2007 01:30 AM

Letsee:

1. Cease my wacky tobaccy habit by April 20.
2. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
3. Kick serious ass on IFR flight test
4. Get kick ass flying job
5. Backpack in Thailand

Drex Jan 1, 2007 01:58 AM

Herewego:

1. Start actually dating people (because I'm good at the whole casual mixing and friendly going out thing, but dating hasn't been my thing)
2. Get into a serious relationship (because dang it's been a long time since I had an actual girlfriend)
3. Figure out what branch of psychology I want to focus on for my major
4. Get a 3.7 or higher in my classes for both semesters of the year
5. Make it into BYU Singers (the elite choir at my school)
6. Figure out if I want to branch into sales at work (commissions on top of my hourly wage would be quite nice, if I could muscle it)

Chaotic Jan 1, 2007 01:59 AM

Whoo...

1. Maintain my grades for my spring semester.
2. Workout more.
3. Control my money situation. T_T I'm such a big spender.

Dark Chocolate Jan 1, 2007 02:10 AM

Hmm..

1- Make new and better friends. The ones I had, aren't really my friends I guess. Except for one.
2- Learn Japanese. I'm really lazy. I'll do it.
3- Go to the Rec Center at least twice a week.
4- Be nicer to my sister. Come on, she's only 5 -_-
5- Do something that no one would ever expect that I would do! I dunno what, but I'm going to do it!

Magi Jan 1, 2007 02:12 AM

Besides my regular goals?

1. Exercise regularly.
2. Clean my desk and keep it that way.
3. Release Chapter 2.
4. Find a real job.
5. Save some money.

neus Jan 1, 2007 02:14 AM

wtf u ppl haev a lot of weird monitors :(

Spoiler:
:tpg:
1. A or above in my courses for the next semester. (This has worked in the past, btw.)
2. Get a neat job in co-op. Not sure what I mean by neat, really. At the very least, to put in the effort to get the job I want, however hopeless that pursuit may be against 4th year students.
3. Find more neat music. GFF has me covered for that though. =)

Shorty Jan 1, 2007 02:26 AM

1. Manage my finances better
2. Get back in the swing of things:
a) School
b) Music
c) Health - more specifically physical wellness (as in, work out)
3. Be more attentive with personal relationships
a) Sister
b) Parents
c) Relatives in Japan

Jochie Jan 1, 2007 03:14 AM

We live!

I am going to continue what I've been working on:

-Attitude
-School
-Work

That's about it. Happy Future!

Conan-the-3rd Jan 1, 2007 09:05 AM

To draw at least one piece of art a week

Domino Jan 1, 2007 09:15 AM

I've only got the two:

1 ~ Stop biting my fingernails
2 ~ Learn to drive

Yuyu_Zeta Jan 1, 2007 10:51 AM

1 - Lower my blood pressure
2 - Stop being so sarcastic

Such a Lust for Revenge! Jan 1, 2007 01:13 PM

One of these is definitely a lie.

1. Make something more productive out of my confused, mixed-up love life.
2. Quit drinking soda, again, but for three years minimum this time. My first run was all of 2001 until Father's day of 2002 and my longest run was March 29th 2004 until July 1st 2006.
3. No more drugs or alcohol.
4. This one's a big one, really a combination of many resolutions; I want to be just as powerful at 190-200 pounds of weight as I was back when I weighed just under 280. Mainly in the bench press, military press, power clean and deadlift department.
5. My diet. While I'm not necessarily trying to gain or lose weight, I do want to clean up what I eat. I'll still be eating just as much, just no more garbage calories that do absolutely nothing for my personal or gym life. I'll eat pizza from time to time, as its a cheat food, but never shit like donuts and chips and cookies again, which are complete "junk." I feel like such a poser writing this for some reason. Gonna try and make it a point to satisfy my hunger with quality cheap stuff.
6. Treat my mom better.

Assuming there are no crashes, it'll be fun to bump this thread in a year to see how everyone did.

Miles Jan 1, 2007 01:52 PM

1. Move out on my own and get an apartment.
2. Visit another state. It's been years since I last left CA.
3. Start dating? I'm 21 and I've still never had a girlfriend.
4. Pay off my credit card bills and keep them that way.

Paco Jan 1, 2007 01:53 PM

I resolve to not drink any more.... or any less for that matter.

Arkhangelsk Jan 1, 2007 02:56 PM

I don't really make New Year's Resolutions, but I can think of some things that should change in 2007::

- Practice more, or more seriously. Especially my scales and etudes (I hate those).
- Maybe I should try harder to get a boyfriend (see: journal).
- Lose some weight/work out (CLICHE!)
- Draw more often...2006 has to have been the least productive year of my life, and that's a shame. I'm gunning to have one drawing or something a week.
- Actually listen to the music I download.

I think that's about it.

Rydia Jan 1, 2007 04:26 PM

I don't have too many this year, and there are a few that I know will happen for sure.

1. Save more money
2. Slightly different hair color
3. Travel alone overseas
4. Maintain my GPA for two semesters

Franky Mikey Jan 1, 2007 05:14 PM

Just one, which I've actually been following for about a month: never use an elevator anymore. I don't like them, and this gives me an excuse to get some exercise everyday (I happen to live on the... 10th floor).

Tomahawk Jan 1, 2007 05:37 PM

Thanks for all your resolutions so far - keep them coming!
-Yeah, we could all save some extra money just incase for emergencies and such.
-DON'T DO DRUGS BECAUSE THEY END UP DOING... YOU! SERIOUSLY - DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!
-Don't get addicted to alcohol either - you don't wanna burn out your liver that fast

I'll keep glancing at all of your resolutions and send private messages - they're all good and I'd like to keep your spirits up and hopes alive! (Wakko, don't worry - girls are tough sometimes to keep up with - I'll share some advice with you buddy)

Chibi Neko Jan 1, 2007 06:23 PM

Mine would be to work out more and to get a better job...

other then that, not sure.

Temari Jan 1, 2007 06:26 PM

I'm never any good at these... have never really felt a need to make any New Years Resolutions, I suppose. But hey, why the fuck not? Maybe seeing it in writing will make me work harder for it. So! My New Years Resolutions:

1.) Be more forwards. Especially with people that I'm close to. I tend to sneak around subjects because I don't want confrontations with my loved ones. But no. Fuck that. No more being uncomfortable for the sake of others.

2.) Make Deans List. I'm kinda irritated that I havent done it already... I mean, seriously, last semester I was like 0.05 points away from it! RAWR!

3.) Get my online portfolio up and running. I've written so much... I need to put it out there.

4.) (Optional) Get something published. I've been having doubts about my making a living off my writing, even if I take a job with a publisher as well.

5.) Be happy for myself. I've finally found my own little niche in this world, and friends who are part of it. Even if something goes wrong, I'll have something or someone to fall back on. 2006 was the best year of my life. I don't want to leave it behind, so I'm gonna take it with me.

Krelian Jan 1, 2007 06:43 PM

1) Stop allowing my mother to drag me out into nowhere. This has pissed me off all my life, and as a result I spent every childhood school break away from civilisation, and certainly isolated from anyone my own age. I plan a trip to the USA on my own terms next April.
2) Work when I'm supposed to. I can't bluff my exams this year.
3) Get high more often. I think I've kind of just got a new hookup, so I'll pursue that.
4) Reunite with an old friend.
5) Stop spending so much money.

Kesubei Jan 1, 2007 07:40 PM

Hmmm.

1. Lose weight
2. Raise my GPA
3. Learn an instrument
4. Own a Turbo Duo
5. Make new friends
6. Study more Japanese
7. Own a Famicom Disk System
8. Acquire better fashion sense
9. Meet above goals, instead of ignoring them

Sol Jan 1, 2007 07:47 PM

I've never really made an effort to carry out any resolutions I've made, but it doesn't stop me from thinking them up.

1. Move back to California to be with friends and all things familiar
2. Get a better job than something in retail, even if the pay is good
3. Write more. Better yet, pick and finish a story for once instead of leaving them half complete
4. Exercise, eat healthy, sleep normal hours, etc.

nazpyro Jan 1, 2007 08:52 PM

Ah, I mentioned some in a journal entry. But I guess having it in list form somewhere would be nice:

1. Video game more, of course. (Honestly, I didn't play too much this past year). I guess catching up on anime/manga belongs here too.
2. Get driver's license...
3. Road trips after getting said license.
4. Attend more events (concerts, comedy shows, sports events, theater). I want to hit up Broadway sometime since I've missed it the few times my friends went back during college.
5. Get big. I've been working out just about everyday for the last 2 months, and I plan to continue this.
6. Re-pursue hobbies: electronic music (time to put that keyboard I got 3 years ago to use again) and photgraphy (Nikon D80 <3).
7. "Travel alone overseas" ^^
8. Start grad school process.
9. Spoil my parents and brother endlessly.
10. Help brother more with his schooling/getting into college and all that.
11. Dunk.

I wanna put "move back to California" too but that's not gonna happen this year.

Cobra Commander Jan 1, 2007 09:25 PM

Mine is to
1. get a decent paying job so I can live off of it quite comfortably
2. have more fun with my life
3. and hopefully get a gf

Single Elbow Jan 1, 2007 09:55 PM

Common:

1. Exercise at least 5 days per week.
2. Finish studies (three more months. No time to fail).
3. Increase social activity, lessened time on gaming.
4. Have a new look and maintain it.
5. Something else.

Why Am I Allowed to Have Gray Paint Jan 1, 2007 10:33 PM

1. Work harder.

Hachifusa Jan 2, 2007 02:14 AM

Well, I have the usual "lose weight" one, but already it's the first and I haven't exercised, so I'm changing the MWF schedule to TTS schedule. This can't be good news.

The other one is to try to calm myself down, but as resolutions go it's really ridiculous; it's not truly measurable, so I don't know how I'll feel better about it. Oh well. I get worked up easily, so my resolution: stop being a stupid bitch.

The Wise Vivi Jan 2, 2007 05:23 PM

Well,

Remain active, as I have since September.
Cut back on Eating at fast food joints.

... That is about it. I am happy with pretty much everything else. I know.... kinda small list.... But I don't drink often and I don't smoke, do drugs or anything. I love my chocolate though which I am never going to stop eating! :D

Will Jan 2, 2007 06:19 PM

I don't do this bullshit. When I want to do something, I do it. I have short-term and long-term goals always in place. I am permanently resolved to improve myself.

Erisu Kimu Jan 2, 2007 07:44 PM

1. I want to get out of college.
2. I want to get a job in a peaceful town.
3. I want to cut back on eating fast food too.

Bernard Black Jan 2, 2007 07:48 PM

I haven't got that many this year actually:

1. Quit smoking
2. Lose some weight
3. Work harder
4. Volunteer at the Hospital
5. Get through all of my books
6. Practice piano every day

I can't think of any others but I usually have a massive list, which never seems to get completed.

Angel of Light Jan 2, 2007 11:01 PM

I guess this year there are maintly five resolutions I want to have completed this year:

1.) I want to gain enough working experience so I can get a job related toward my field in my own home province.

2.) To get an engagement ring for my girlfriend this year, she knows she is getting an engagement ring this year but she just doesn't know when.

3.) To make enough money to afford our very first house, and be well on our way to starting a very stable life together.

4.) To play more of my anime video game collection, I truly wish there were more hours in a day because I have some many games that I want to play.

5.) Pray to the almight 80's/90's cartoon gods and see if they'll release M.A.S.K. or Botsmaster on a licensed DVD box set.

Lady Jedi Jan 2, 2007 11:25 PM

Not so much resolutions as much as personal goals, but

1) Learn how to sew with lessons

2) Learn how to draw (this will be interesting as this is an exercise in self-teaching, so I'll see how far it goes before I a) give up or b) actually learn how to draw decently)

Such a Lust for Revenge! Jan 3, 2007 08:49 AM

A lady jedi!

Its not so bad Willy. I personally like it because it gives me a great date to look back on one year from now. I like looking at years for what they gave me. Like when 2002 doomed me with a child. Yeah, you spite me 2002!

I've managed to hang on to my diet resolution so far. Except that I drank five liters of beer last night and the day before I, for some reason, ate eleven bananas in an hour. NENE TO RECONFIGURE.

With this in mind, thank you for undermining the rest of us who actually had REAL resolutions. :(

Ceft Jan 4, 2007 09:34 AM

1. Maintain the 4.0 GPA I currently have in college.
2. Land me a nice summer internship.
3. Continue checking and organizing my VGM collection for accuracy.
4. Knock off some games from my "Games I have to play" list.

That's pretty much it for me.

Actually, I started that philosophy with a New Year's resolution. I just don't see the point in waiting to around to set goals for myself anymore. You don't have to justify yourself to me or anyone else. I wish you all the best in getting sober.

I think your New Year's Resolution should be to turn on your sarcasm radar.

I missed the fine print. XD I didn't have my contacts in...really...
