How often do you shower?
Quote:
Are you all lix level disgusting, or are you all (somewhat) normal people who cleanse themselves and take care of their bodies on a more regular basis? SO POLL OPTIONS GO! |
Once every 4 - 5 days? I would go insane after one day of no showering.
I shower atleast twice a day. Sometimes I shower more than that. Depends on how active I am. You wouldn't believe it from the way I keep my place dirty but I'm obsessed with keeping my body clean. If I feel dirty in the least I'm going to take a shower.. |
It depends on how hot it is outside. If it's hot and sweaty I might shower two or three times in a single day. If it's freezing cold and I'm not sweating, then once a day. If it's cold and I don't work up a sweat that day, I may skip showering entirely - maybe.
|
Usually once a day, although I'll usually go one day every week without showering. And I hate myself for it.
|
I try to shower everyday (happy 16:20 FTW), but more often then not I shower every 2-3 days.
That being said - I'll always shower after I get home if I've been sweating alot, even if it would be my second shower of the day... |
Ever since I made that journal entry I've been showering daily, or once every two days which seems perfectly fine.
I can't understand people who shower more than once a day. It's obsessive and unnecessary on so many levels. Edit: Bathing and showering are two different things, son. Our house doesn't have a bath and we moved here in '94. So I haven't had an actual bath in roughly just under 12 years. |
I try to shower once a day but it's not a big disaster if it's only twice a day. Every Sunday, I additionally take a hot bath which is quite relaxing and I like it very much.
|
I take one shower each day in the morning. I do, however, wash my face often during the day because I have oily skin.
I used to shower twice a day back when I used to play a lot of basketball during the summer. I'd get real sweaty and end up changing two shirts a day. |
I shower every morning, though I also will occasionally miss a day (typically due to sleeping in or a late paper the night before and planned sleeping in). My hair needs it daily, usually, and I just generally don't like the feel of going unshowered for more than a day.
I did twice a day when I ran cross country in high school. Sleeping with dried sweat is not fun. Heck, walking around with dried sweat isn't the greatest, either. EDIT: It occurs to me, Mr. Prime, that a shower for you would require basically a car wash, and I don't wash my car more than once a quarter, or maybe once a month. Every day seems excessive to me. |
I usually shower once per day in the morning. There are exceptions that make me shower more than once a day like seriously working out or when it's excessively hot outside, but not too often.
|
Once a day in the morning or whenever I wake up. Sometimes twice a day; when I wake up and before I go to sleep.
|
I shower once a day, but the time of day changes. If I'm not in school, I shower in the morning. If I am in school, I shower in the afternoon/night because I can't wake up early enough to shower before class. I hate when I miss a day because my hair feels nasty, but every now and then I will.
|
I always shower at least once a day in the morning, but often enough I'll shower in the evening too since I find it relaxing. If my allergies are really bad or if I'm super stressed, I might even do it three times, and a couple of times I've done it four times! My hair is like a rat's nest if I don't wash and dry it every day.
When my family lived in Cuba, it was the custom to shower before every meal and before going out in public or meeting people. If visitors came and you hadn't showered recently, you'd excuse yourself and go take a quick one while they sat in the living room. |
Once a day, but when I don't have to go to class that day, I will shower at night. People find this weird because everyone seems to shower when they get up in the morning. I, however, just can't go to bed without showering because I feel like I'm sleeping in a whole day's worth of dirt. Basically I shower at night because I want to be clean in my bed while I sleep so when I wake up, I'm still clean and don't need a shower.
When I have to go to class though or if I have to do something that day, I will take a shower in the morning and then take a shower before going to bed. |
Unless I'm on some kind of camping trip, I can't stand the thought of not showering every day. My hair gets greasy fast as well, and I just don't feel right if I don't.
I also shower at night. It may seem weird, but i don't like the thought of sleeping in my own filth and sweat. It's just getting my bed all gross. |
At least once a day for me, mainly because my hair produces enough oil to keep a menorah lit for eight days. Daily.
|
I shower once a day however if it's Sunday and I'm doing absolutely nothing, by which I mean I'm not going anywhere, then I'll opt not to shower. Just because it's Sunday and it's lazy time. Monday I'm back into routine.
|
Once a day right before work. Usually twice if it was a stressful day/hanging out with friends.
|
My shower schedule, since the semester ended, has been thrown out of whack because I don't have time to take on in the morning on weekdays. It goes from morning showers to night showers... It's crazy. I'm awaiting for the semester to start again so I can start my morning shower schedule. I shower in the morning- bathe- then shower at night and wash my hair. I can't wash my hair everyday. 1- I've had lice... lice live in clean hair. Not to mention I'm blonde so even more at risk for lice. And I work at a daycare/school. Lice is high risk for me. So I wash my hair every other day some times 2 days. I keep spray conditioner in it so it stays smelling good and smooth.
That was actual advice from the lady who cuts my hair about washing it every other day. I was telling her about the lice checks constantly going on because people having lice and how it scares me to death so she told me to do that. But I like showering every day. If I had a bigger bath tub with jets, I'd do a weekly relaxing bath. But I don't :( |
I shower at night during normal school days, and twice a day once the summer season comes. If I'm on vacation or spend a few weeks at my parents, I usually shower once in the morning, and again before going to bed since they usually make lots of plans to spend a full day out of town or to visit relatives, and I'm out all day.
|
a good old fashioned once a day, but its not like i spend an hour in the shower, its only a few minutes.
|
During breaks, it's probably every other day, usually because I'm too lazy to jump into the shower. During school, it's usually the night before since I never seem get up with enough time to shower before school. <_<
|
Everyday, but sometimes when we're out at sea due to various conditions I've had to go several days without showering. It's not like I have anyone to impress, but it does become a comfort issue, sometimes.
To elaborate on that: I live in a berthing with like 70 other dudes, we're all dirty and smelly from working a 24-hour-7-day-a-week schedule. We shower when there's water, but time can also be a factor. If I have to choose between showering and eating or showering and sleeping, I'm going to go with eating or sleeping. When I'm not at sea, though, everyday, without fail. |
At least once when I wake up. Pretty much once a day
Otherwises in college its like 2 or 3 a day; gotta enjoy the free gym. |
Quote:
Do you wear a shower cap in order to keep your hair dry? Because I like how my hair is after I wake up, I really don't have to do much with it and it's fairly long. |
You should've made this poll public. =\
More than once a day here. One after I wake up and once before bed. I wash my hair only once though, it could be either session depending on when I feel like it. I shower for 15~20 minutes or so each time, less if I don't wash my hair. Another reason beside keeping myself clean, is because hot water feels damn good, cold weather or not. |
I normally shower at least once a day, but with my work schedual sometimes it really throws my shower schedual off. The longest i will allow myself to go without a shower is 2 days though.
|
General rule of thumb for me is....shower the night before work or in the morning before work. If I have to go somewhere that night after work, I'll take another shower.
|
I usually don't begin to feel really dirty myself for several days, so the regular showering is just for everybody else. If I'm not going to be interacting with anyone, there is no need. When I DO feel dirty, then I clean myself, and I think I take a greater pleasure from that, because it's not just a routine feeling of clean, but almost like a purification. The normal functions of life just take up so much time (and resources) that could be spent doing more interesting things.
|
During the week I shower at least once a day, but on the weekends I'll do it maybe once between both days, if at all. This is mainly because I don't go out that much on the weekends, though whenever I do I'll make sure to shower on the day I go out.
|
I shower once a day. I just wouldn't feel..."satisfied" without having bathed at least once a day. There would have been the occasional day when I was younger when I would skip having a bath/shower, but that's not that bad considering you obviously sweat less (despite running around more [but I guess that depends on the person]) when your little.
I couldn't stand bathing every, say, 3 days. 2 days I could tolerate, but beyond that is pushing it a bit. |
I shower everyday, normally at night just before I plan to go to bed. Should really do it in the morning, but I like my extra 10 or so minutes in bed.
|
Slimer has no need for showers! I tend to shower every day, somewhere at night. So I tend to shower every.. night. Especially now that it's Summer, there's not a whole lot of fun to be had getting into bed and you get stuck to the bedsheets. Well there could be, but this isn't a Sewers thread. Though there are times when it's once every two days/nights. Usually during Winter when it's three degrees cooler than the rest of the year.
|
I take a shower twice everyday. Once in the morning before school and again at night.
|
More than once a day, Now!
But boy, when I was a kid.... I don't see how I used to do that. |
This is how I shower:
I shower once per day, scrubbing my whole body with soap and only scrub my hair with shampoo one time. If I miss a day of showering (in other words, shower once after 2 days), I'll scrub my body with increased body soap, and I'll scrub my hair with 2 rounds of shampoo. I usually average 5-6 showers per week. For those of you who shower 2-3 times daily, you're only wasting more water and abusing the shampoo. If it's because of your 'sweating', then how about showering in the morning and 'rinsing' yourself at night? It should be good enough. Taking 2+ 'showers' daily obviously tells me you're just too paranoid of your BO, regardless of athletic activities. |
"Rinsing" doesn't help at all to get rid of built-up bodily oils from hours of excessive sweating during the hot summer months.
|
Twice a day. Once in the morning to wake me up - usually 5 minutes or so -and at night for a good wash for about 10-15 minutes. Yeah a shower once every 4-5 days is disgusting. And sometimes when I feel cold around the house and just want to freshen up, a shower works wonders.
|
I usually shower every other day. If it's a really rough or hot day, I will shower as needed. I do not like to be stinky!
|
Every day. I'm way too self-conscious of my appearance as it is to leave the house without making sure I'm clean.
|
I shower every morning when I get up, unless I know that there is NO chance I'm leaving the house. In that case, it's about a 50/50 chance of my taking a shower, depending entirely on mood.
- WraithTwo - |
When I was in school, I showered every morning. My showering schedule has been more erratic since I graduated. Nowadays, I shower when I need to go somewhere and when I feel unclean. I don't think that's unreasonable.
|
Everyday, when I get home from work. Like many others, my hair gets kind of nasty if I go a day without. :(
|
One in the morning and one at night.
|
I shower when I'm needed: uni, outings and the like. Otherwise I only shower when my filth becomes uncomfortable to stand, eg. itchy scalp from lack of shampoo. Showering twice a day is nothing short of appalling waste, especially in Aus. Even once a day's a tad rich, on occasion. You can go a single day without bathing and not stink at all.
An uncle of mine introduced me to the Asian Shower this Christmas, whereby you only turn on the water to wet and rinse yourself, reducing your usage to about 40 seconds. He's a practising Buddhist and scientist, so resource conservation's naturally on the sleeve. |
Once a day when i got out, when on break if I stay at home, every other days!
I don't want to stink! |
So I guess I'm the first who showers every 3 or 4 days, then. Why do you all shower so much? I used to shower every other day while I still had long hair to keep it nice, though since getting it cut it guess I could go a week without showering and be fine, though I don't. Working in a kitchen doesn't help, and forces me to shower more.
So how often do you guys get a minor illness then? I got a cold a few months ago, and don't really remember the last time I had anything before that. |
If I'm out working and going all over the place I'd say I shower twice a day (one quick 5 minute shower in the morning and the usual full wash down in the evening.) On a off day one shower in the evening is more than enough. But why twice a day? Its Hawaii, depending on the weather just standing around might cause you to break a sweat. Its always humid here.

I blame all those shots the military gave me :tpg:. My last flu well more like stomach flu happened about 2 years ago. I was basically bedridden for 3 days then jumped back to work/school. Otherwise the worst thing I've got lately was a runny nose from light volcanic dust a couple months ago. |
Oh sh!t!, someone who never take a shower xDDDDDDDD lol! I hope he/she has a good deodorant :erm:
|
I shower once a day, almost always in the evening. If I get 'off-schedule' (ie: so tired I fall asleep without showering), I take a shower in the morning and at night to get back on-schedule. My hair gets amazingly oily if I let it go more than a day without washing.
Also, a quirk of mine is that if I'm coming down with some sort of cold or flu, I get constant urges to take multiple hot showers. That's usually the first sign of me getting sick, more than sniffles or general malaise. |
Any length of time between every day and in two day intervals depending on what's happening, the issues at hand and wether or not I can be arsed.
|
I used to shower every single day, sometimes twice. Now I shower probably, on average, six times a week, never more than once a day. I usually skip Sunday because I don't work out or really go out that day.
|
I shower every night before I go to sleep. There are some times when I will go a day without showering, but I don't think I've gone more than like 2 full days without showering since like elementary school.
|
Back in school, I'd usually shower every night after getting back since I went out almost every night. Sometimes I'd go a day without showering. =/ That's not bad considering that most of the students in my computer science classes honestly don't shower, or at least don't use soap. However, we engineers are a much cleaner folk.
Showering the morning was usually a hassle because "everyone" was trying to get it in the morning, everyone rushing, and such... so I usually just got it through the night before. But now "in the working world" and all, I get to shower every morning. Sometimes I'll take a night shower too if I'm feeling "unclean" too. |
Once a day, every morning.
I cannot even picture a day without a shower, since I just cringe at the thought of people becoming smelly due to laziness. However, if you can pull it off with showers every other day and I don't notice, then kudos to you ;) |
Once every three days is enough for me. It's not like I spend my days rolling around in shit. I only shower more often if I go to the gym or have a really sweaty day at work. For the most part, every three days is plenty. I don't smell, I don't get too greasy, and I don't get dirty.
|
I don't know how people shower in the morning. When I wake up, I want to get some clothes on and go. I mean, I brush my teeth, but there's no point in showering before anything has happened.
On the contary, I shower once a night. I don't get people who shower more than once a day as much as I don't get people who wait days until their next shower. I don't want to sleep in filth, and I wait until night to get rid of it all and sleep comfortably. As long as you're not a fatass and drool in your sleep or wet the bed or anything, you're generally ok the next morning. |
The thought of not showering for 4-5 days repulses me to be perfectly frank. >_<
I shower once every morning after I wake up because for some bizarre reason I am a dirt magnet. Should I have had a hectic and/or busy day I shower a second time, but that's usually rare, so one shower will suffice. I absolutely cannot stand feeling greasy and nasty. (I don't see how anybody else can either to be honest) |
I shower once per day in the evening because I'd like to get started on the morning's activities as quickly as possible. If I opt to take my shower at night, I only need to spend about five to ten minutes getting ready the following morning. There are few instances where I'd skip on taking a shower at night, but, if that's the case, I must take a shower the next morning. I can't stand being greasy for extended periods of time.
|
HOW DID I MISS THIS THREAD.
I shower every morning. Sometimes on Saturdays I'll get up and decide to not shower, and I'll just put my hair in a ponytail and throw on a ballcap. But by 6 or 7 that night I can't stand it any more and I just have to take a shower. I can always tell when someone has skipped a shower because I can smell their hair, even if they don't "stink." Those of you who think nobody notices if you don't shower - well, now you know that some of us do. Also, I think a good question is, "Do you use a washcloth or just the bar of soap?" I HAVE to use a washcloth. That bar of soap only grazes over your skin, people. You have to exfoliate in order to be truly clean! |
Quote:
|
I take it usually every two days, but sometimes i take it everyday cause i'm bored or just wanna wash my hair.
|
When I'm at school and hitting the gym every day, I tend to shower once or twice a day. One of those is a "contrast shower" to speed my recovery. On vacation I can be such a bum...so I might go two or three days without showering if I'm not going out to the movies or a party or otherwise engaging myself with the outside world. For example, after partying for the entire weekend, I basically slept all yesterday and didn't really feel like cleaning myself.
I never wash my hair more than three times a week though. I rinse it, but my hair feels a lot healthier when I don't always use shampoo. |
What is a contrast shower. Tell me how it can help me.
|
Will, I can smell your hair from here.
|
I don't think it really smells. I mean, it always looks really healthy, never greasy. The only time I care about how my hair smells is when I'm planning on being really close to someone, if you catch my drift. David is the shit, BTW.
I AM 2001, a contrast shower is just alternating hot and cold water every minute or two for about 15 minutes. The cold water should be as cold as you can take it, but the hot part isn't that important. I can't say that it definitely works, but it helps me relax at the very least. |
I shower daily. If anything, I will never try to skip. It's just unsettling to me. I prefer to shower at night before I go to bed (the fresh feeling), but recently I have been working out in the afternoons so I will shower after I came back from the gym. Not showering for 4-5 days... how can this person live with others?
|
I shower pretty much everyday. Unless on the occasion that I haven't done anything in anyway all day but sit in my house and play games or watch TV. When I am at school, I shower everyday. Mostly because it wakes me up and it feels oh so good.
|
Every. Single. Day. I can't imagine not showering daily. Ugh, the gunk that you build up.
I take a shower in the morning before work or activities or whatever. The day doesn't officially start until I've showered. When I am camping, though, I may lax up a little. I jump in crystalline lakes and rivers which provide a nice, fresh, squeaky-clean feeling that you don't get from showers or anything. If I can get away with bathing in a clean, mountain river in the summer, I will do it, skipping the shower stalls of the campground all together. |
Usually once a day. I shower at night, not in the morning. I don't get how people could go to sleep feeling dirty. I much prefer sleeping feeling clean and I wake up and usually just wash my hair again but not my entire body.
Sometimes though if I'm dead tired and night and too tired to get up and just want to go to sleep I will skip the shower if I didn't do anything that day and I'm not feeling too dirty. |

When you get dreads you can't wash your hair or it messes it up. I have quite a few black friends with dreads that walk around and their hair stinks because they shower but have to use a shower cap to not wash the dreads.
|
Once a day, mostly in the morning, though not always.
|
I shower every single day. Whether it be in the morning (If I don't have work or classes) or in the evening (on days I have work and classes). I take at least one shower a day. Sometimes I can't stand the people in my dorm who shower every so often.
|
Every day unless I am away from home. If I'm away from home I might let it slip for one day, if the facilities aren't quite so convenient.
|
I usually shower every day but sometimes it's more than that if I just feel like I need to be cleaner. I used to not mind skipping a day but now it would drive me crazy. Also, I live in possibly one of the most *eh* type climates and I'm a lazy bastard, so it's not like I get extra sweaty or anything. I just like showers.
|
I shower everyday, and used to be only once a day (right before I go to bed). But now since I walk around a lot more and it's humid in Asia during summer, I shower twice a day (once before I go to bed, and whenever I'm sweaty or hot needed to be refreshed)
|
Every single day. When there's classes, the morning and after hitting the gym at the evening. Weekends usually are afternoons.
|

|
Pretty much every single day. I used to alternate between baths and showers each day, but now I just find it more convenient to jump in the shower.
Although when I do have a bath, I find it a hell of a lot more relaxing than a shower (though a hot shower feels pretty damn good too). |
I shower once every 4 days or so. Usually because my mom catches me.
|
Liar!

AAAUUUGGHH!!! Replies like this DRIVE ME BATTY. >__< How can you people do that, willingly walking around smelling like skunk poo and casually talking about it like its normal.... |
During school I shower once a day but only at night. I love night showers because I like to feel all fresh and clean before going to sleep. In the morning though I usually just wash off. Just to freshen up. I have to because I spend way too much time on my hair so I don't have enough time to shower, that's why I shower at night.
However when I'm on break or during the summer I take one shower in the morning and one at night. Also I actually know some people who shower like once or twice a week but they don't smell bad, atleast I don't get too close to find out. |

I shower once every two days because that is when I begin to feel dirty. I will shower more if the occasion calls for it. Also I wear deodorant every day, and wash my hands frequently. I've never heard any comments about my hygiene from anyone, so I assume my schedule is fine. I just sit at a computer my whole life, so I still feel fresh on the off days.
|
I want to know who's the one who voted the last poll option, because it sure as hell wasn't me. I shower once everyday and twice if the situation calls for it. (i.e. I get chased by cops, climbed off my ex's sister and need to wash the guilt off, etc.) During the summer I shower up to three times a day just to stay fresh, but that's to be expected with the Central Cali stagnant summer heat.
|
Every other day, for me. I hardly sweat at all, and I've found it wreaks havoc on my skin if I shower too often. Kind of like washing your hands too much, I guess, I dunno. That and my barber told me I should wash my hair every other day. I just don't get dirty, or stinky. But I can't go more than a day without taking a shower. Something about doing so is just gross.
|
Most of the time, I shower when I wake up, and I shower just before I go to bed. Living in dirt central can do that to you.
|
Everyday it's a-gettin' closer
Goin' faster than a roller coaster Love like yours will surely come my way A-hey, a-hey-hey ...and so on... |
i have oily hair, and if i dont take a bath at least once a day it gets messy.
i usually work out at night, but when i work out in the morning i take a shower after that. |
Once every 2 days, maybe if im mucky or i think i smell. Then i have a bath to get it off. Or if i ache then i shower.
|
I shower at least once a day, maybe twice a day depending on my mood. I don't have a set time to shower I just shower when I feel like it. Though having said that I normally shower at night to warm me up in the winter and to aid me off into the land of nod. But if I shower at night I've washed in the morning.
In the Summer though I shower as much as I need to to feel comfy. |
Lol, depending on deadlines and school and studio.
If the deadline for a project for architecture is rolling around; than all i get to shower with is Axe, and Tag AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!! for like 2-3 days. Also those are 2-3 days with little to no sleep so i don't really know when one day ends or begins per say...... it's kinda funny to hear us it's like did you finish your elevations yet? Ya i finished that just now........ today.........yesterday? Otherwise I do it at least once a day; or at least once every two days. |
Every freaking day. I can't stand it if my hair gets gross cause I can't think or work. The whole day I would be thinking, OK ew my head feels gross. haha. But I usually don't shower in the morning, (not a morning person), I'm usually still half asleep till noon no matter when I wake up. And I definately don't need another reason to wake up any earlier. So the morning showers are usually left to the weekends.
|
Every morning when I have school, once on the weekends I guess. When I don't have school it's either once a day or once every other day if I stay inside. Very dependent on the weather, actually.
