Upgrade Part 1 Complete - What is a man.

I have upgraded the vBulletin code base to version 3.6.4. The second part will be reverting the templates to the newer versions to make many of the features available. Do you see anything broken / weird on GFF? Please be sure to include what feature/page and I will look into it!

Thanks!

bobo Dec 27, 2006 09:46 PM

Thanks, I have lowered the time limit between posts to 25 seconds.

I got that for some posts I just made, ones that weren't duplicates of anything.

Edit: And now database errors.

Kaleb.G Dec 27, 2006 10:21 PM

The post table width is smaller than other elements. See Exhibit A:

Not a major feature, but there is no longer a check mark over the poll icon after you have voted in said poll.

Userrating and chocojournal bits in profile are broken.

Yeah, I got a database error pop up when trying to use the Quick Reply box. It apparently still put up my post, because when I refreshed the page it told me I was posting a duplicate message that I had to go back and delete, but that's what showed up.

EDIT: And apparently it's going to say it's a duplicate post every time I post with the Quick Reply box now?

EDIT AGAIN: Editing in the in-post box yielded this fun stuff (see attached).

The double-post feature where two consecutive posts by the same user would be combined is not currently working.

Lady Miyomi Dec 28, 2006 01:02 AM

The ratings are broken, as in they don't show up in profiles. You can't see if you made a rating at all. Actual rating number shows up in a person's post instead of the pips that were there before.

Nope, they're broken here as well. I've tried Firefox 2 and IE 6 and the ratings don't work. Even submitting the ratings does nothing. <br>I'll upload some screenshots and post here - first let me check out these fancy new quote tags~

I think I've found an error with the 25 second delay between posts. If you sign in and post immediately, it'll give that error. Also, if you post with something and it gives you this error, it'll still post the response. But it'll tell you you'll need to wait 25 more seconds and brings you back to the message you were about to post.

Dr. Uzuki Dec 28, 2006 07:39 AM

At the moment, we have no banner.

edit: Ah, nevermind, guess it was just the delay in the switchback to the normal banner. I had forgotten about the Christmas one.

edit 2: no, wait everythings still fucked up, the banner's only showing up on certain parts of the board.

Try these for multi-quotes:

http://www.nullpunktseite.de/temp/multiquote_off.gif http://www.nullpunktseite.de/temp/multiquote_on.gif

Should do the trick, albeit tiny. The second one is meant to look like a button pressed.

The AJAX progress bar looks awkward, too: http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/im...c/progress.gif

Miles Dec 28, 2006 07:10 PM

Nice. I'll add as soon as I get home unless blah beats me to it.

Drex Dec 28, 2006 07:13 PM

The problem with the multi-quote button, also, is that we'll have to shrink down the existing edit and quote buttons to make space for them to coexist peacefully on the same line. The three will be too wide if we go as presently constituted.

We'll have to abbreviate it, too. xquote, or something. Or have the multi quote be an extension of the quote button. =o

Although I guess the tiny ones work.

Rock Dec 28, 2006 07:20 PM

Edit, quote and the HUUUUGE multiquote buttons already fit in the same line here.

The postbit has a fixed width, so it shouldn't be a problem even with lower resolutions.

Drex Dec 28, 2006 07:26 PM

Yeah, I had to edit my post to make provision for the tiny thing you posted, because I actually didn't notice it when I first posted. I was anticipating having one of equal size to the other two, and that wouldn't work.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure we haven't always used gay buttons in our PM system.

Bigblah Dec 28, 2006 07:49 PM

Ooh, nice. I noticed that extra variable under the PM statistics when I updated the navbar, but I thought it only showed up when your PM box is completely filled.

In other news, new reply template updated. Multiquote should now work fully. (Click on a few multiquote buttons, then click 'quote'). In fact, if you're feeling adventurous, try multiquoting posts from several threads. Notice the message that shows up just below the message area in new reply.

Fleshy Fun-Bridge Dec 28, 2006 08:10 PM

The multiquote button 'down' state is very subtle. It would be hard to pick out if you had to scroll back and unquote someone. Maybe add some kinds of glow?

Scarletdeath Dec 28, 2006 10:01 PM

Your PM box is 94% full.

Personally I see that as a waste of space and it makes the top area looks messy. The max is 400; how bad can your math be to actually need that counter. Can someone atleast remove the "bolding" for that sentence?

Miles Dec 28, 2006 10:21 PM

Yeah, well, at least it doesn't get in the way.. I think it's better if that little message is included under our private message page in forums/private.php instead of what it is now.

Replacement images uploaded, thread started date now shows up properly. I've implemented it as a plugin this time, so it should not break the next time we upgrade the board.

I'm n0t sure if anyone's noticed but all threads are showing their start date at 1970.

Also, can we move the Last Edited by Username at 4:33 PM thing to above people's signatures? It just bugs me since it makes sigs look messy. I don't know if it's been mentioned, but the moderator's "Move Thread" screen displays some peculiar results.

None of the thread moving options are labelled. The selection icons are there, and seemingly functional, but if you're trying to leave a redirect notice, you'll never know which option to click.

Also, the "Move Thread" button isn't labelled at all. It lies blank, next to the "Reset Fields" button.

Ah. One of the pleasures of being a forum administrator is that we have the ability to stealth edit our posts without the reason showing up unless we tell it to.

Drex Dec 29, 2006 11:58 AM

Little Shithead Dec 29, 2006 02:27 PM

So I just noticed the quick style chooser at the bottom of the boards now. This wasn't there before, right?

So uh, is it going to stay there? I think it's almost a little silly, since we only have the normal style and the lite style to choose from.

Dopefish Dec 29, 2006 02:28 PM

Unless they decide to make more styles...

Bigblah Dec 29, 2006 02:52 PM

The entire template set (except for the Lite style) is more or less finished. ChocoJournal latest entries now show up properly in the member profile. User ratings don't display yet, though.

Let me know if there are any more bugs. I'll be adding some 3.6.4 plugins after this.

Some of us have had problems with this since the boards came back after the last crash. You might remember I brought it up a few times before. It's all pretty random - for example on the previous page I see the icons for everyone but; you, Miles and Merv. For you three there is just a ?.

Miles Dec 30, 2006 03:19 PM

That would be because we don't have a gender. It's undisclosed, which makes it display a question mark. We could be male, female, both, or neither of them.

Yeah, after having browsed the forums a bit more it seems you're right. Before, everyone's gender would be "?" for me regardless of whether they'd chosen one or not. But now it actually seems to display them accurately for those who have.

Bigblah Dec 30, 2006 03:52 PM

That means it's fixed then!

I'll fix the avatar linking to profile bit. Ratings will remain broken until I get off my ass.

Inhert Dec 30, 2006 08:23 PM

I second this. I don't see how it's an improvement.

And yes, I was joking there. =\

If you'd look in the other Board Support thread, that icon shows whether you've posted in a topic, and I mentioned I was going to replace it. I'm not exactly blind.

This process would also go faster if someone could help with the replacements.

Like I said, not ideal and hopefully not the final thing, but it'll do for now. Personally I think we should have someone develop a custom complete set of normal thread, hot thread, hit thread, and hot hit thread for just Gamingforce.

Thank you and sorry. I don't venture into Board Support very often.

I updated them with your new images. They look much better now. What would we ever do without you, drex. =p

More uniform, at least. Yay!

Miles Dec 31, 2006 12:31 AM

I did too. But clicking refresh fixed that.

Inhert Dec 31, 2006 12:36 AM

oh I see them nvm XD (weird i had to refresh a second time since the first one it didn't work XD)

There are some more that I noticed are missing, and the labeling should be more correct. I think there's still a thread_dot_hot that isn't done.

EDIT: thread_dot_hot.gif is done.

I welcome anyone who can come up with something cool and unique to Gamingforce, though. ^_^

Drex Dec 31, 2006 03:06 AM

Also need thread_dot_lock, which I forgot to upload. Any more I'm missing?

Uploaded all the new thread icons. Thanks Drex!

I'll work on the lite set tomorrow.

Dr. Uzuki Jan 1, 2007 05:55 AM

As RAB mentioned in a recent journal entry, gender preference now appears on the main profile page. Could someone put that back to normal?

Miles Jan 1, 2007 11:58 AM

I got rid of it but it somehow made the whole gender system implode.

Sorry blah :3

Bigblah Jan 1, 2007 12:04 PM

By "got rid of it", did you mean "deleted the entire field"?

Because that's legendary.

Inhert Jan 1, 2007 03:52 PM

I think there's a problem with the edit feature. Like when you edit your post, your sig get push down in the post bellow of in the quick reply space. I don't remember being that way, I think the sig was disappearing when you clicked the edit button.

here's what I'm talking about:
http://content.imagesocket.com/thumbs/edit5f9.jpg

Bigblah Jan 1, 2007 04:07 PM

The post table is supposed to expand if your sig gets pushed down. This problem is actually Firefox-specific. Notice that sigs sometimes bleed over into other posts, whether or not you're editing.

Inhert Jan 1, 2007 04:14 PM

oh I see, I only notice it when I was editing a post, so I thought it could be the problem...

packrat Jan 1, 2007 06:47 PM

Just a reminder, user ratings are still defective. :(
And we used to be able to click on a poster's avatar to see their profile, but that is no longer active.

Drex Jan 1, 2007 06:57 PM

Image for a moderated post looks like crap. Here's another quickie to fix it up, if you like. I like that they have the red x over the person's mouth, but I think someone with actual artistic skill (rather than someone who just resizes and cleans things up) could come up with something better. Especially at that size.

http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r.../moderated.gif

Additional Spam:
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...ated_small.gif for display on a forum page of which threads have been moderated. Only cleaned up.

We'll also need something cleaner for the PM section.

I noticed this when in the General Discussion board earlier. The thread that has been moved displays that no replies, or even that no-one has posted in it, even though there is replies in the thread. Don't know if this is due to the upgrade, but I'm pretty sure that when threads have been moved before, they display the number of posts in them once they have been moved.

Fleshy Fun-Bridge Jan 2, 2007 08:33 PM

That's actually because whichever mod moved the thread left a redirect. That means the thread was originally located in that forum, but it was moved to another one because it fits better in the new location. Most mods don't use them, but a few like to have it.

Drex Jan 3, 2007 02:31 AM

Yeah, redirected threads haven't shown number of replies in the actual thread for a long time on vBulletin.

I'm using the redirects now because you can have them expire after an hour. That way if the thread creator doesn't see their thread, they won't make another copy of it with some irate comment about censorship that we'll have to close. :p

Gechmir Jan 3, 2007 11:30 AM

Dunno if it was mentioned, but the feature to see who all voted for you is gone =U I'd look for it, but the topic is Six Pages long~ (flame me if someone mentioned it already. I love pain)

Drex Jan 3, 2007 11:41 AM

Someone mentioned it already, poopface.

galen Jan 3, 2007 12:27 PM

So did you guys break the lite set or what? plz fix kthx.

Also, this:

http://content.imagesocket.com/thumbs/thing4fc.jpg

I don't know if it's supposed to look like that or not, but I much prefer a list to having everything just thrown about like that.

Bigblah Jan 3, 2007 12:39 PM

People only tell us to fix broken stuff while we're fixing it =(

I'll make that a list, then.

galen Jan 3, 2007 12:43 PM

Hey man I just woke up, gimme a break. :V

Also, having the last replied to thread + the person who replied to the thread on the left was nice. In fact, if you could just bring it back to the way it was last night it would be great.

EDIT: Lolz this is fun to watch. It's like everytime I say something my wish comes true.

Bigblah Jan 3, 2007 12:56 PM

Should I make "no sigs" mandatory in lite set?

galen Jan 3, 2007 01:12 PM

Hmm no, but adding the option in the CP would be a nice touch.

Also, if you could get rid of the uggo gradient above each post again, that would be stellar.

Drex Jan 3, 2007 02:28 PM

So did we decide that we hate my additional thread icons, or what? I posted them up two days ago and they're still not up. :( If you hate them, just tell me so I can run off and cry instead of being confused. ^_^

Bigblah Jan 3, 2007 02:35 PM

I already uploaded them a while back, do a hard refresh.

Drex Jan 3, 2007 02:36 PM

I swear I did. :( Oh well, it works for me now. Sometimes I boggle myself.

seanne Jan 3, 2007 04:43 PM

I noticed that the Gender Preference: (lol) thing under Additional Information on the profile page has been done away with. Could Age: go away as well, please? It's pretty, you know, useless.

galen Jan 3, 2007 10:18 PM

I'd just like to say that the lite set is looking really nice now, even better than before. Don't change anything everrrrr.

Sure. Those two could potentially be funny, interesting, something, though. Having your age stated twice doesn't really have a lot of potential usefulness.

Bigblah Jan 4, 2007 11:05 AM

Got rid of age -- but it's still there! If you know where to look :3

Also, added more potentially useful information. (Local time and date)

Miles Jan 4, 2007 03:50 PM

The timezone addition is pretty cool. Drex should probably cut a bit of text from his bio to keep it from stretching though. =p

Drex Jan 4, 2007 04:47 PM

Bah. You're just impressed that I could fit such a fantastic biographical quote from an old but good movie in the character-limited space. =p

Also liking the timezone thingie.

Additional Spam:
Liking the ratings bar being back, missing knowing how many ratings I've had/who gave them.

Inhert Jan 8, 2007 02:39 AM

Am I the only one who don't like the new way of showing the time when a thread was created or a new post was added in it?

or is it only some kind of joke XD (that will hopefully disapear soon >.>)

Dopefish Jan 8, 2007 03:11 AM

I like it.

Bigblah Jan 8, 2007 03:30 AM

I like it.

Inhert Jan 8, 2007 05:39 AM

ok fine >.>

but may I suggest an option to select which you prefer? like in the forum option?

Dr. Uzuki Jan 8, 2007 05:53 AM

I would like an option too, as I am also set in my ways. It's not so much the way it displays the last time posted, it's seeing ago ago ago ago ago ago ago ago ago ago ago ago ago ago ago ago ago ago ago ago all over the board.

Ago's an ugly word.

Infernal Monkey Jan 8, 2007 06:51 AM

Should be renamed to Agro, and have a picture of Agro instead of just the word!

http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/8366/agroqd4.jpg

Oh Agro, you shall make everyone frown!

Bigblah Jan 8, 2007 07:39 AM

Would it be better if I replaced "Ago" with "Prior".

"Prior" is a pretty word. It flows off the tongue!

Hey, they can share the love! One of them could ride the other, around and around they'd go!

Kilroy Jan 8, 2007 08:33 AM

I'd like an option too. Set in my ways, touches myself at night, because I suck cocks... Pick any reason you want!

BlueMikey Jan 8, 2007 10:06 AM

When you click on "Add ____ to Your Buddy List" from that person's profile, it no longer adds them automatically, but takes you to the Buddy/Ignore List page in your own User CP and adds that person's name to the Add Buddy field, where you have to click another button to add them.

I don't.

I like to know the exact time (in my frame of reference) that each post was posted. "4 Hours Ago" doesn't include minutes, so it fails.

Bigblah Jan 8, 2007 11:36 AM

Well I guess whoever changed it can change it back, then.

That's a 'feature' of the new vB, I think. :/ I don't like it.

Bigblah Jan 11, 2007 05:59 PM

User ratings in the member profile page are now fully functional. Please report any bugs you find.

niki Jan 11, 2007 07:20 PM

I have no idea if it's really related since I wasnt there during the change, but here are two things:

. The Show Posts preference isnt memorized when using the quicksearch.
. I don't receive email notifications for my subscribed threads anymore. =(

Can we make this an option? That would be all kinds of awesomeness :edgarrock:

Drex Jan 14, 2007 11:43 PM

Any reason why genders aren't showing up right anymore, and why (I think) it's not a selectable option in the profile anymore?

seanne Jan 15, 2007 12:29 AM

And the arrow'd poll icon, which shows that you've voted on the poll in question, needs to return.
