What would your parents do...
I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but anyway just out of curiosity, how would your family – parents, siblings, grandparents and so on – react to any of the following revelations? If you like, you can also can also reverse these questions to ‘what would I do if my child told me....’
So: 1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs? 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? |
These subjects are more appropriate to The Quiet Place due to their potential sensitivity. Hence, they've been moved.
Proceed as normal. |
Considering I'm 22 years old, financially independent and probably have a different relationship with my parents than what the thread-maker is accustomed to, what my parents have to say is almost inconsequential. Also, they've been seperated since I was 5, so there's definitely a divergence going on there.
1. They'd probably be okay with it, actually. Depends on what kind of drugs and whether or not I let it become a destructive habit. 2. I'm the product of an interracial marriage, so... "congratulations, son." 3. My dad would be okay with it. My mom, I'm not sure. I certainly wouldn't be fearful of them disenfranchising me, they're more mature and understanding than that. 4. My mom never finished college and she's led a personally fulfilling lifestyle, so she'd be fine with it. My dad graduated from a military academy, and then went to pursue a masters in Aerospace engineering. Both emphasize the importance of education, but my mom feels that college degrees don't really give you the necessary tools to become a master of one's craft. As she held a management position in a highly technical field (mainframe software support) and ran circles around her peers who had master's degrees. Although, I personally place great importance on a formal post-secondary education, which is one the reasons I joined the military. 5. Both of my parents are Christian, albeit liberal, and I'm more of an agnostic. This seems to work out fine, as I don't go out of my way to flaunt my spiritual/moral beliefs out of respect for the fact that an individual is free to choose whichever path he/she feels is right. 6. If I had killed someone and was on the run, the last people I would involve are my family. They'd probably tell me something I already know, that it is my responsibility, my duty as a human being-- a conscious, free-thinking individual-- to accept responsibility for my actions. Although, I know that my mom would probably attempt to harbor me, and that would put me under a lot of guilt and I'd probably end up turning myself in. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
Kick me out of the house, and tell me never to return or make contact with them again. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? I wouldn't have thought that they won't mind 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? Accept it, I guess 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? They would tell me that it is my life and that I make my own decisions, and that if not going to college was one of them, then so be it 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? Our family isn't religious in the slightest, so I guess that they wouldn't really bother if I changed my religion, they would probably ask me not to go on about it around them though. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? They would most likely turn me in to the police and dis-own me from the family. |
Tough parents you seem to have, Domino. :/
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs? They'd be shocked, because it's totally out of my character. If I did do drugs, though, the LAST people I'd tell about it are my parents. I would only tell them if I wanted to stop, and needed help, and they would definitely help me as best as they could. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? No issue there. One of my older brothers married a Brazilian woman and my other brother's girlfriend is from Chad. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? Uh, they'd probably be embarrassed. Perhaps disappointed, I don't know. It's hard to tell because I don't know any gay person in our family or in their circle of friends. I guess they'd ask if I'm really sure, and if I am, say it's my life and tell me to be careful. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? Depends what I have in mind. I'm a bit familiar with the issue because I've dropped out (changed majors) twice already. It's basically my decision, as long as whatever path I choose to follow is expected to provide me with a job and income in the forseeable future. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? We're mostly atheists. I don't think they'd have a problem unless I started going fanatical. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? Harbour me for the time needed to convince me to turn myself in, which would be the most reasonable thing to do. Like Duo, though, I don't think I would involve my family - I don't want them to have to choose between helping me and becoming accomplices, or betraying me. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
Hmm. Depends on what I was taking. They don't generally look well on drugs, but drugs as in the odd bit of weed here I think they might tolerate. If I did take drugs that is. Shit like cocaine and heroin, maybe niot. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? Not really care much? 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? They'd be like "why are you telling us this again?" >_> Technically I still don't have a clue so I'm going with bi. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? They wouldn't care as long as I was doing something I loved. But if I had potential and I wasn't using it then they'd have something to say. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? They wouldn't care. Religion is pretty much random in our family anyway, an atheist, a wiccan, a theist, one unknown and an agnostic buddhist wiccan (me). 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? I think they'd freak out a bit. But I wouldn't want to get them involved, and I hope they'd help me turn myself in. >_> |

If I went to my extended family for help, they would rat me out. |
1. Disown me, not before beating the shit out of me. alcohol and cigarettes underage included. My family is very, very touchy here. Not really because of past incidents, but whatever. I can manage.
2. Wouldn't talk to me for a week, and then they'd get over it. He'd still have to be appealing to both parents though, so he needs to have a good status/education/personality in order for my parents to accept him. 3. They would laugh and think I was kidding, or get pissed off. It's not really acceptable to them on any levels, mainly a culture thing. To be honest, even if I think hard enough I have no clue as to what they would say or do if I brought home a girlfriend. I think my mom would be a little more accepting though. 4. I'd get hell for it. I come from one of those families thats anal about security, so no chasing around wild dreams outside school unless there's a guarantee I can make shitloads of money doing it. 5. Probably nothing. My parents would be a little suprised since they are religious themselves, but they're not fanatical about it suprisingly. 6. This is a toughie. I really have no clue. I think my siblings, parents and extended family would try to find alternate ways to get me out of the situation, but eventually i'd probably have to do the "right thing" and turn myself in. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
"As long as you're resposible about it." 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? "What's his name, dear?" 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? "Yeah, not surprising. Do you have a girlfriend yet?" 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? "You need a proper education but you're an adult and as long as you think you can support yourself, the choice is yours." 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? My family isn't religious at all, the only concern would be that I read enough to know what I'm getting into. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? Oh they'd tell me to turn myself in  |
With these answers, keep in mind that I'm in my mid-20s and both parents have little influence over my personal choices. They've also been divorced for almost two decades. ;) I maintain a strong relationship with my mom but I'm not close to my dad.

My father did not care really at all, he actually does not like going to church and goes just to keep mom happy, he questions the bible and religion itself more than I do. My mother flipped when I put my foot down and refused to go to church. A few years later she would only nod when I told her I am Pagan and explained to her what it is, she would then go into the whole christian speech 'who put you on this planet' and crap. When Yule came my mother would say things like 'I guess you don't celebrate christmas so I guess you would be getting any presents' I then explained to her that Yule is the original xmas and 90% of the traditions that take place on it came from Yule... she just denied it. I asked her why to we have a tree indoors and have holly and mistletoe. She had no clue. |
Hrm. Well, at 20 and on my own, these are somewhat interesting.
If I told my parents I was doing drugs, my mom and dad probably wouldn't want to know, in all honesty. If they did know, and it was anything beyond pot, they'd probably encourage me to stop, and that's it. They've never been too aggresive in my life; they certainly wouldn't check me into a facitlity or anything, unless I was showing signs of dying or something (and that's if I got fucked up on heroin or something). My parents would probably make a point over and over again if I was going to marry someone of another race, though they'd have no technical problem with it. Hell, considering my relationships with Japanese girls (lol @ nerd) my mom probably expects it, at this point. Heh. If I said I was gay, my mom wouldn't care and my dad would just ignore it. He's kind of uncomfortable with the idea of relatives being gay, but with his brother and two of his nephews being gay, I don't imagine I would be too much of a shock. They would shrug and say good luck if I chose not to go to school. And make me payback for the two years that I did go (they graciously said that if I could pay for living, they'll cover school, at least for the first two years). Again, they probably would be disappointed, but hardly demand anything or be melodramatic. My mom wouldn't care less if I wasn't my father's religion. My dad, being extremely proud of his Jewish roots, would be pissed. Honestly, he'd prefer I was a gay drug addict who never went to school and had a black boyfriend then be not Jewish. Of course, I'm atheist, and he has more than an idea. We don't talk about it. If I had killed someone, I would not tell my parents. They would not support that. |
1. That's a hard one to imagine, but I can tell you I would have no place to stay. I get booted for minor things, for short periods of time (usually). I'd probably not have a chance for redemption, either.
2. My father and stepmother would definitelly have a problem with that, but wouldn't say anything. My mother wouldn't care, same for my step-father. As long as they didn't have to see or hear about it, they wouldn't care. 3. When I told my parent's I was bi, they didn't believe it at first. It took them two years to actually realize I wasn't trying to get attention, and then I was condemned to Hell. Huzzah! They seem relatively passive with it at the moment, as long as there's nothing between us while they're around. 4. If I wanted to stay at their house, all I'd have to do is pay rent. However, Hell hath no fury like my mother hearing such nonesense. The lectures would never end from that side of the family until I attended. 5. Something else that's already happened... When I told my father I was practicing Druidism and Wicca, he procceded to burn all my books, bitch and whine at my mother, and then resent me... As long as I don't talk about it, I'm golden. 6. My father would probably turn me in, but who the Hell knows... Depending on the severity of the offense, he might actually help out. I complain about him a lot, but he can actually be pretty awesome. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
Depending on the kind, they'd probably be unimpressed. They did live through and participate in the 60s, after all. Saying that, however, they'd urge me away from continuing. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? They would not be too happy. Can't say exactly what they'd do about it... probably just not approve. And not help with the wedding... maybe even not attend it. Hm. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? Considering the fact that at one point my mom thought that I was, I'd say that they'd be ok with it. Maybe disappointed at the lack of grandchildren, but that's what my other two sisters would be for. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? They would be disappointed, but they wouldnt force it on me. They survived without college. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? Done and done, actually. Like Chibi Neko, I started leaning towards Paganism at a young age when I found myself believing in multiple Gods. I'm the only Pagan in our Christian family. We arent terribly religious though, so they mostly make fun of me for it, calling me a witch. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? Depends on the family member. All in all though, they'd probably want to know the juicy details. Then they'd send me to Canada. lol. :) |
Oooh let's see...
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs? They would offer their support to help me off them, and would possibly force rehab if they were hard drugs, but if it was just weed or something they would let me do it, just not with a positive attitude. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? It wouldn't bother them at all, so long as the person was nice enough. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? Be fairly accepting I suppose; they wouldn't want details, and in fact I can imagine them skipping around the subject but they wouldn't try and suppress it if I was. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? As long as I had a sound reason not to be. Otherwise they would've forced me. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? Once again, they would be accepting of that religion as long as they knew enough about it I guess. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? Freak out. They wouldn't hide me but they would still stand by me. That's what my parents said last time I joked about that anyway. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
as stated prior, anything beyond pot and they would express great concern. my mom is innocent to the T but my dad seemed like he lived it up in the 60's and 70's. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? no qualms. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? would prb. be accepted but not talked about. i have a relative who is gay and its like she doesn't exist sometimes. everyone talks to her, but always tip toeing around her relationship status. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? very disappointed. they have high expectations of me, as does the extended family. it is stressed that good grades are achieved and that time spent now will pay dividends later. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? i was raised irish catholic, but my dads an atheist....sooooo....no one would really care. today, we aren't that religous at all...only some of us attend church and usually only on holidays. yay god. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? i would firstly not put this on my parents. But, depending on why i had killed the person or circumstances surrounding the situation...they might actually help me to hide. but this wouldonly happen after a long conversation detailing responsibility, conscience, etc. and only then if i still felt that i needed to hide. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
I think my dad might kill me. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? My mom will probably make alot of noise about it. She has already said so. (Besides she has that kind of very prejudiced outlook on life - she, like the older generation thinks the world of westerners) 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? Disown me? ha. Maybe might support me. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? Very shocked. My dad prob will keep persuading me to go college. Studies is very very important to him. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? So long as it's not some kinda satanic cult, i think they are pretty alright by it. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? Turn me in. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
Unless it's weed, the parents would probably try to get me to stop. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? They'd be fine with it. Already dated a girl from India. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? Mom would be fine, Dad would freak at first but wouldn't disown me or anything. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? Mom wouldn't care, Dad would freak out. My Dad and his side of the family is gung ho about the college thing. You're going to be homeless if you don't go to college! 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? Been there done that. Changed my religion about 4 times until I became a non-believer. I'd call myself atheist if I cared enough about anti-God theories, but I don't, so I suppose I'm agnostic. My mom has changed her religion many times, and my Dad isn't religious at all, so there was lots of freedom in this area for me. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? If I needed to hide, that implies I killed him in a way which would land me in jail or death sentence. I dunno abou tthat. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
-Be extremely dissapointed and probably never trust me again. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? -Wouldn't give a rat's ass, as long as she was a nice person. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? -Wouldn't be very happy, but they'd reluctantly support my decision. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? - They'd want one hell of a good reason why not. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? -Support me. As long as it makes me happy, and cannibalism isn't involved. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? -Flip shit, but still protect me to some extent. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
Mother - Unless it was cannabis, she'd totally lose her shit. Father - Probably never speak to me again Brother - Join in 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? Mother - Pleased Father - Vehemently against Brother - Apathetic 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? Mother - Apathetic Father - Vehemently against Brother - Incredibly surprised 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? Mother - Vehemently against Father - Pleased, because that's precisely what he wants Brother - Furious 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? Mother - Apathetic Father - Apathetic Brother - Amused 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? Mother - Disowned! Father - Disowned! Brother - He'd help. |
So:
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs? They would try to get my to stop, anyway possible. Though it would probably start with "talks", then go onto teary faces (mom), then finally counciling 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? depends on question number 5 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? supportive, but disappointed 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? they would say something like "take some time off, and come back to it later." 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? disowned 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? they would probably turn me in. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
tell me it's wrong and would kill my brain. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? congratulations? we aren't racists. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? deal with it. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? force me. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? they won't give a damn. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? give me a chunk of money and tell me to leave. |
I liked how Krelian did it - so i'm editting
What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs? Anything more then weed and they'd be concerned, but as for weed? Well, my mom and I shared a doob awhile ago, so I think its a non issue. Mom: "Let me know when you're smoking one next time, and I'll come join you" Dad: Long lecture about how drugs are bad mmkay. Sister: "Can I buy some off you?" Dad's side of family: disowned Mom's side of family: hooked me up when I was in BC :P If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? Already done it - no problems. Mom: Meh Dad: Meh Sister: Meh Mom's side: Meh Dad's side: Meh What would they do if you told them you were gay? Probably ask me if I was sure, and then deal with it.. My grandmother would flip out though. Mom: Support me Dad: Would take some time to deal with it himself, and then support me Sister: Wouldn't believe me That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? Probably be OK with it, but only if I had a damned good reason - and I can't think of anything right now that would be a good enough reason. Mom: Pissed Dad: Pissed Sister: Confused Both sides of the extended family would be pissed too. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? Just told them, and they're not too concerned - it's my life. Mom: Meh, as long as I don't become some extremist Dad: Same as above Sister: Meh Dad's family: I don't really know - but I don't think it'll go over well. Mom's family: Meh What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? Probably help me out if they could - but would probably ask me to turn myself in. Mom: Would probably try to protect me and help me hide Dad: Would be the strong "turn yourslef in" voice Sister: Flip out |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
They would kill me on the spot. I won't even go there because I'm afraid of how I'll be treated. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? I already did that and it turned out horrible, not on my family's part, though. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? That'll never happen. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? Again, they would kill me on the spot. Ever since I was younger, I was taught to "get it up here (brain)". Every time I see them, they're always talking about how knowledge is power. I guess they way they feel is that I need all the power I can get, so knowledge is key. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? They wouldn't be happy at all and I would never do that. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? They'd call the police on me. They don't hid criminals, no matter if we're blood or not. We're always taught to take responsibility for our actions. |
it depends on what type of family you have really in answer to all questions. most families today are as understanding as people can get, but on an emotional level, it's dependant on the person. some families will explode at you, others will be hurt that these things happened, but try to help you out to overcome these issue. it takes 2 elements for this to work. you, for one, to have the courage to admit these things, and 2, your parents for how they'll take it. but have faith if you believe your parents care, and it'll all work out.
|
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
They would send me away to the hospital and rehab to get me off of anything I was on. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? They would probably not be the happiest but overall, they don't care. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? My brother would be very awkward around me and my sister too.... but for my parents.... hmmmm.... I don't really know how they would react. Probably negatively at first.... for a couple years. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? They would definitely be upset. And would find anyway to get me to College. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? They are mostly non religious so they wouldn't care at all. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? Wow.... wouldn't help me at all. Probably would turn me in. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
Mom: flip out and tell me to get off the shit Dad: would ask me questions why I'm doing it, and would later cry when I'm not present Sister: would bitch and complain over the phone to me 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? Mom: would have a hard time dealing with it at first, then accept it later Dad: wouldn't mind at all Sister: would be happy 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? Mom: would cry Dad: would really cry Sister: would console my parents as best as she could 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? Mom: would have tried inspiring me to go Dad: would force me to go Sister: would give me continuous lectures on being more successful with a college degree 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? Mom: WTF? Dad: WTH? Sister: uhhhhh....why??? 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? Mom: would insisit I turn myself in, and help me along the way Dad: would support me in running out of the country Sister: "OMG why did you kill him?" |
Quote:
2. I would like to think my parents are okay with that. I know my mom is totally fine with it, but my dad is more conservative and traditional... so he might have a heart attack first. 3. Hmm... That, I haven't thought about. I think my mom would just accept me the way I am, but my dad would cry, or even break the father-daughter relationship. 4. They would say, "Then get your ass out there to find a job to pay for yourself." 5. They would be totally okay with it. You gotta respect the other religions and learn and knowing that your old religion wasn't the one and only in this world. 6. They would still turn me in to police. lol. |
Quote:
2. My parents would be a little shocked at first and they would try to have an open mind. Later they would adjust and wouldn't care. 3. Same as with number 2. 4. They would laugh and then say to quit joking, Then they would get all serious and say :wrong: and finally concede if I'm stubborn enough and say it's my choice. 5. My father wouldn't care but my mother would try to convince me to stay with the current one and if she sees that i have a solid base, then she would give up and say that I'm at least worshiping God. 6. I have no Idea what they would do. Most likely say, Turn myself in and if I refuse, then they would turn me in and probably Disown me. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
My dad would have a SHIT FIT. I wouldn't even want to think about what he would do, since he's basically threatened us since we were kids that if we became drug addicts, he would disown us. I told my mom I smoked sometime and she took it pretty well, but there was an incident during the summer where she discovered my brother hit the pipe pretty hard on a daily basis, as well as experimented with coke, acid and other drugs. She didn't freak out but it really bothered her on a deep deep level. It's just hard for her to take that the kid she held in her arms was addicted to something. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? They would be wierded out, especially if it was black or mexican person (they're racist, what can I say). But in the end, if they treated me well and was a good person, then they'd be able to accept it. Even better if he was a doctor with a degree from an Ivy League. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? Both would think I'm joking. I don't know what they'd do if I was really serious, they both thing homosexuals are "wierd" and "perverse" but there was a time where we all suspected my half-brother was gay, and my dad didn't seem that bothered by it. So who knows, wierded out at first but they'll accept it after a while. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? They would kick me out of the house and never talk to me again. Interestingly enough, they would take this worse than me doing drugs. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? We're agnostic so they wouldn't really care. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? If it was on accident, they would probably do everything in their power to help me. If I killed someone in cold blood and didn't feel any remorse for it, they might turn me in. |

Then again, I'm honestly not sure my dad has really taken in that particular fact. It seems to kind of elude his notice. He's not actually met her yet, although my mom has. Marriage is a long way off, but dating someone of another race is basically the same as far as your folks are concerned, right? Quote:

1. Like most replies, they'd probably think I'm joking as I'm really not that kind of person. Though they'd probably flip out and do everything to stop me if they found out that I was serious.
2. No problem with this, they encourage me as long as the guy is good to me (well and to them :P). 3. I actually remembered discussing this with my mom a long time ago, I used to joke about me liking girls, and she said she's fine as long as I'm loyal to only one gender, she somehow can't stand it if I'm bisexual tho. I never understood why. (I guess it's 'unfaithful to love' in general or something) 4. Been there and done that, they lived with it. (I couldn't turn down a really good job offer, though I'm mostlikely going back next year) 5. Wouldn't have a problem as well, they let me decide my own religion. Unless it's some weird evil religion or something... 6. I'd probably have to explain why I did it, and explain all the stories before they turn me in, even if I did it as a self defence. I would perfer turning myself in as well than hiding from the polices for the rest of my life. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
They would be shocked of course 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? They wouldn't care at all, my mom is married to a Dane. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? My mom is very homophobic, even when i comb my hair many times she tells me that she's afraid that i will turn gay. So by that you can guess the reaction. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? I don't know about that one 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? This has already happened, i've told my mom that i dont believe in God anymore, and she got angry and calls me many names about it, including anti-christ. LOL. My family is catholic BTW 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? I think they will help me, but you never know about that. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?- Be supportive and try to get me into rehab.
2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race?- they're open minded so would support me. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay?- They'd probably be estatic because I couldn't get pregnant by mistake out of wedlock lol. But sad because no biological grandchildren. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? erm? I've done college I'm now in university and it's my money they'd be a little a disappointed i suppose because they want good things for me. I'd be more upset then them. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? I don't believe in their religion anyway. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? turn me in. Tough love baby. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
Take me to rehab 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? Not bother 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? Say whatever you want to be 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? Get told to go out and find a job 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? Do whatever you want to do 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? Break my legs, Disown me, Then turn me in. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
They'd laugh. Then go "Wait... are you serious?" Then fret for a while, then try to get me into rehab. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? Wouldn't matter to them, as long as the person was of the HUMAN race. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? They'd laugh. Then go "Wait... are you serious?" Then fret for a while, then they'd probably disown me. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? Ask me why, and if it was a good reason, say "Okay!" and if it wasn't, say "Well, it's your choice, but you'd accomplish more if you went to college." 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? They'd say "We hope you find your way back someday, and just remember what right and wrong is." 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? They'd laugh. Then go "Wait... are you serious?" Then fret for a while, then probably say "...No. We're turning you in." |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
This is the issue that they're the most protective on. They'd probably try to get me into rehab, and get all my family and friends involved in all sorts of interventions and stuff. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? I don't think it would be an issue at all. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? Probably not an issue. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? There would be many arguments, and they probably wouldn't be happy, but in the end they'd support me in my decisions. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? Maybe a little bit of resistance, but in the end they'd support my decision. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? They would probably encourage me to turn myself in. After that, they'd probably refuse to help me further than giving me an hour's head start. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
Um, they would tell me I had to quit or I would get kicked out of the house. Yeah, actually my bros were messing around with pot, and my dad pretty much said "stop or leave." They stopped. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? Um, I think that initially they would have a hard time with it, but they would get around that. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? Whoa! No idea. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? I think it would depend what my alternatives were. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? Um, they'd freak. Then they would just be disappointed. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? I think they'd turn me in. Might depend on the situation. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
They'd have some definite issues with that considering I never even go near drugs... 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? They'd accept that, they're not racist/biased. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? See Answer #2. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? They'd be dissapointed, but they wouldn't really fret over it. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? Considering we follow no religion, that's a sort of tough one. They'd probably be a bit freaked out. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? If it were for a damn good reason (self-defense, killing someone attacking a bystander), they'd defend me until the very end. Anything else, they wouldn't have to tell me to turn myself in, I'd do it automatically. ;) |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
I think they would take me to a psychologist. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? My mom would think of it as strange but they wouldn't have anything against it. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? As long as I'm happy, they wouldn't care. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? Well, I won't go to university, although I have the grades and the money and they know it and don't have anything against it. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? Haha, I'm going to resign from the catholic church and we have lots of arguments on this issue at home but it's MY decision and they'll have to live with it. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? They wouldn't hide me. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
Wouldn't care if it was just smoking pot or anything. The hard drugs maybe they would. I mean they been down that road too many times themselves... 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? Eh...wouldn't care. People are people, love is love....it doesn't really matter. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? Wouldn't really matter at all...you can apply the answer from number 2 here as well. I mean my mom already told me straight out that she doesn't care about it. Though I'm not interested in the same sex thank you very much :><: . 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? Probably go WTF then probably agree to let me go (That and my mom would make my dad pay for it)...I mean I was one of the ones who thought school was useless and proved it....it would be kind of weird for me to come out and ask them if I could go to collage. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? Eh...we're already open to all religions....no...to be more presice, we believe in God and Jesus and all that...but we're not set into a major religion. I mean right now my mom's going through a Eastern religion phase. I wouldn't think that they would care (other then maybe my dad seeing as how he's still sort of Luthren) unless it was some sort of cult religion. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? Probably think I was joking until I showed them hard evidence like some sort of gun or a bloody knife or something. It would also have to depend on if I killed them in self defense or not. Other then that I don't know what they would do... |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
They will kill me. Or find some way to disown me. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? I doubt they'll care. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? No idea. Gay-ism isn't an issue in this country. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? They will still insist me on going. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? Nothing much, but I doubt I'll ever bother changing religions. I'm generally apathetic towards all matters of faith. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? Shocked initially, but I think they'll want me to turn myself in. |
Keep in mind I'm the only child of Singaporean migrants, living in Australia.
17 years old (just) and I'm overprotected and... (insert rant...) 1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs? Freak. Nothing else. Probably confine me to the house. Something like that. It's a strictly no drugs kind of household. No drugs kind of family and extended family too I suppose. It's not the kind of thing that they look down on (well, not really) but it's the kind of thing that is definitely a big NO in our house. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? I don't think my parents would have too big a problem with this, since the daughter of a close family friend married an Aussie guy. But there would be problems, not huge ones, but just trying to overcome the cultural differences and stuff. And besides, Eurasian kids end up being sooo pretty! =) 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? It wouldn't happen but... I don't think they'd take to it kindly. I'm a Christian, as are my parents, so I just don't think it would gel. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? They'd force me to go. End of story. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? Again, I wouldn't do this but... I think they'd be a bit scared, a bit disappointed, but they have this habit of letting me make my own mistakes, if changing my religion was going to be one of those mistakes... 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? I think that they'd probably turn me in... Though, the fact that I'm an only child and I'm all they've got... Hahaha. Nah, I think they would turn me in. It's an interesting question though.... |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
I'm actually not sure of this one. I think it would depend on what exactly I was doing and whether or not I wanted to quit. The reaction would be pretty volatile though, and I doubt I'd get any trust back for a very long time. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? This wouldn't be a big deal at all. My dad makes slightly offensive jokes on occassion, but nothing too bad or intentionally racist. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? I doubt there would be any problem. They'd certainly be surprised, but nothing past that. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? Ha, for that my dad would completely cut me off financially and possibly disown me for a few years. He always says that the most important thing is for us to live so that we're happy with ourselves, but there's no way he'd stand for quitting/not going to college. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? It wouldn't really matter unless I went off and joined a cult. I was raised as a Catholic, but I haven't been to a service in around 12-13 years now. Doesn't mean I don't still follow a lot of the teachings, but I'm not necessarily a Catholic either. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? I'm sure they'd turn me in, or at least only let me stay with them for a day or so before talking me into turning myself in. Not that I'd need much convincing anyway. |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
Beat me with a stick, pick up the phone and call the cops. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? Rejoice. (He's married! Finally! Now we don't need to worry about HIM anymore...) 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? Insert puns about it on a regular basis. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? Beat me with a stick, pick up the phone and beat me with that as well (w/o calling the cops). 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? That would be ANY religion, since they are non-believers. I don't think they'd question my beliefs, though. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? Beat me with a stick, pick up the phone, beat me with the phone and then call the cops. |

1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
Everything seems to be going alright so far. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? That one might be a bit out there, though. I know my grandma wouldn't be too happy. =) 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? Shock, and all that jazz. Probably followed by acceptance, eventually. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? My parents would be extremely mad at me for this one. College is a really big deal for them, especially with the kind of grades I'm getting. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? My mom is Christian, my dad is Jewish. I don't think this really matters too much, unless I "convert" to Atheism or Agnosticism. My mom is pretty God happy. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? My dad would probably help me out. My mom, not so sure. =\ |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
Not believe me at first, then look utterly stunned and drag me into rehab... 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? shrug 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? Again, not believe me, but probably continue to not believe me unless I actually PROVED it to them....somehow....*shudder* 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? FREAK. The Asian Way. 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? narrow their eyes... 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? O_O...erm.......er........ |
1. What would your family do if you told them you were doing drugs?
Well, I've already had this discussion... I used to be suicidal and took a whole crapload of pills. They were cool about it. They sat down, talked with me, and began to understand why I was doing it. Since they were the reason for my self-medication, their understanding helped me a great deal. 2. If you told them you were going to marry some one of another race? My mom would be enthralled, since she understands the first rule of genetics. My dad on the other hand, he'd freak out worse than he ever has. He's far more of a racist than he likes to make it seem. 3. What would they do if you told them you were gay? My mom would understand and probably give me a hug. My dad would beat the shit out of me. 4. That you decided not to go to college, even though you have the grades and money to go? They'd both just say "Fuck off and go work at Wal-Mart, I wash my hands of you". 5. That you were going to change your religion to one your family has never followed? Already done this. I'm an Atheist, and my parents are Catholic and Methodist respectively. My mom likes to debate me on a theological level, and my dad is just sort of cool with it. 6. What would your family do if you said you had killed a person and needed help hiding from the police? My dad would drive me himself to Mexico, and I have a feeling my mom would do the same. |
