So Vista IS nothing like Mac OS X!
I found this video while looking at the news.
It helps to point out all of the differences that Vista has from Mac OS X. Seriously, it's like comparing apples to manzanas! The video Finally, it's on YouTube! |
Something's wrong with your link there. Or at least it didn't work for me.
|
Maybe that's the joke.
|
Try it now, I think that one works. Maybe the other was a unique URL? Who knows.
|
No difference.
|
Still doesn't work, and I doubt it was even remotely funny.

I did a search for Windows Vista using the NY times search bar, and the video, embedded in an article, poppoed right up.
I think it's pretty funny, but I'm also a Macwhore, so take that with a grain of salt. |
LOL at the porcelain chess thing. Other then that, it was alright.
|
Heh that wasn't too bad. Kind of reminded me of something that Daily Show would do, just less funny.
And yeah, I'll stick with my OSX especially since Vista looks like it. |
Nice video, except that I wasn't really interested in learning about the new film "Charlotte's Web" >_<. Hmm, Vista. It looks crap. No compelling reasons to upgrade for me i'm afraid, and most corporations seem to agree.
|
I'm actually using Vista at work :)
I like the look-and-feel 3d effect. |
|
"Mac OS X has the search bar at the top right of the screen. Windows Vista has the search bar at the bottom right of the screen. So it's not the same thing at all."
:tpg: |
widgets ≠ gadgets
lol FUck Vista even looks the same. WHy don't Microsoft save themselves the hassle and just pay Apple to port over the next version of Mac OS X for them? |
Haha. That was goofy. After watching this, now I know how much more similar Vista really is. Think about it though.... OS X for the rest of Us!
Lol. I will probably get Vista in the near future. Sometime in the summer. First I have to upgrade my monitor and speakers. |
It might actually approach something resembling humor if any of the applications/add-ons presented were remotely innovative and hadn't long ago been invented by 3rd parties.
|
See, I use an HDTV for my browsing needs, and Microsoft is telling me I have to upgrade my Graphics Card, Monitor, and Speakers to be "Vista Compliant"? Screw that, and them. Too much money for more restrictions I don't want, or need.
|
the video link doesn't work o-0
I didn't even know vista was out until yesterday. Would it even be worth upgrading from winxp at this point. |
I love that video. Thanks.
|
OK well, I found it on Youtube (finally), so check it out if you haven't been able to--and want to.
|
What amuses me more is that these jokes are recycled from Apple's 2006 WWDC. The sad part is: it was funnier when Apple did it.
|
I agree with Peng -
Apple's take on it was a lot funnier. I myself was born on macs and moved to PCs for programming and less expense. These features may have been taken from OSX (probably were), but an OS is a totally different box. Besides, I wouldn't touch Vista for another year myself.. wait for them to complete it (e.g. Service Packs =P) XP Pro for now ;) |
Interesting to see the new Vista system, but it wasn't funny at all.
|
I'm not quite sure how the joke is on Microsoft. Microsoft, Apple, and just about every company in the world has done their fair share of ripping off each other and themselves.
|
If anyone actually laughed at this video: smack yourself.

I've been using Vista for over a month (had it since before general public launch, since I got a copy of the Business edition from my school). I certainly won't deny that Windows is trying to be more Mac OS X like. Actually, I'd say that's what I like best about it. The UI is generally much better than it has been in previous versions. It isn't an amazingly huge change, but its an incremental change for the better. There are still some compatibility problems and quirks, but for day to day usage I'm liking it much better than XP. If you're a gamer looking at it for DX10, wait until actual DX10 games come out (and better graphics drivers). Generally speaking its a bit more hardware intensive than XP, especially with Aero (and its Glass effect enabled). But if you have a Radeon 9600 or better with a gig of ram, you're not going to feel much if any pain here. Maybe next time I buy a computer I won't be too cheap to go Apple, but until that time Vista will hold me over.
