What should be made for the DS?
What game or add-on would you like to see be made for the DS?
Super Smash Bros. DS: I would like a DS version of Super Smash Bros. Being able to play the game anywhere would be nice and also you should be able to play online with other people. Also be able to use the wifi connection so people near can play with one game card. Graphing Calculator DS: Another thing I want to be made is a Graphing Calculator for the DS. Some people need for school and those kind of Calculator cost alot so being made into a game card. Whats thing do you want to be made for the DS? |
Shining Force DS -- my favorite strategy series!

Also, Dragon Force DS. |

Are you serious? Have you even seen what Sonic Team has done lately? At this point in time, I'd rather see Shining Force remain in the depths obscurity until Sonic Team hires people that aren't 10 year olds who think they can make a game. |

Earthbound. They don't even need to add anything -- just port it. The game isn't heavy on any resources and it's aged pretty well. Since they aren't going to release Mother 3 outside of japan it'd be a nice thought.
Also, Final Fantasy Tactics. Not the FFTA rubbish we played a few years ago, but the original game. I'm pretty sure the DS could handle it even though the maps are in 3D. Oh and Vectorman for DS would be nice. If this was 2005, I'd say Front Mission as well. But thankfully they're making a Front Mission DS for us. |
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Tetrisphere. Come on, the DS was practically made for this game. Nintendo should own the rights now that H2O Entertainment is gone, no?
|
Adventures of Lolo. A new adventure, using DS hardware to make new puzzle. Lala has still managed to get kidnapped again. I can dream.
|
DS is not for shoddy ports of strategy rpgs! DS is the future! It's for new games. Starman at least wants to incorperate the touchscreen.
addressing RPG Maker's orignal ideas: Smash Bros. No. I don't know why people keep suggesting Smash Bros games for the DS and or GBA, it won't work. Smash Bros, it's entire gameplay revolves around the "smash" that is, tapping the joystick quickly to execue jumps, sprinting and the smash attacks. Smash Bros is basically the first fighting game to be designed and work better with analog controls and taking those away would be a disaster. Graphic Calculator YES! This would be great! I don't have my graphing calculator anymore, I think I gave it to my sister or something for her to finsih up school with but I find I need to use one every now and then. A Graphic Calculator app would be fantastic and a super way to get DS into more high schools which would be awesome. The screen would also kick the shit out of every calculator screen ever and the touch screen would be e far quicker and user firendly way to navigate around. |

Camelot-made RPG for the DS. |

YES. Tetrisphere had the greatest music ever. A new one would be best. Also where's a new Kirby's Dreamcourse Nintendo hoooooly shiiiiiit.
http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/244...course2my2.png http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/695...course1no0.png It'd work so well on DS. :( And there would be sexy online, and everyone would hit eachother onto spike traps. Much joy. And Pokemon Snap, where's that? WHERE IS IT? It's not on DS where it should be. They've made what, seven hundred thousand Pokemon spin-off games for the thing so far, but the only one that matters and would make so much sense heads would explode isn't on it. POKEMON SNAP. THROW APPLES AT SNORLAX. And pinball games in general. Pretty sad that the only one so far is Metroid Pinball. As good as it is, there's only like two bloody tables. Revenge of the Gator DS plz. ALSO POKEMON PINBALL. THE OTHER ONLY SPIN-OFF THAT MATTERS. |

http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/1...nesscregs7.jpghttp://img179.imageshack.us/img179/3...nesscreyi4.jpg Snake Rattle 'n' Roll. How I'd see it is like this: you use the touchscreen to control rattle or roll, and you use the L trigger (or dpad) to shot tongue. Touching the screen twice quickly would make him jump. It's quite a plausible idea, actually. The game's quite long and quite addictive, and definitely one of my favorite Megadrive games of all time. They might want to do a remake or something though, or include both NES and Megadrive versions, or something. It'd be so nice. Second game which comes to mind is Q-Bert otherwise known as MOTHERFUCKING @!#?@! http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/5103/qbertuc3.jpg http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/6358/qberthc4.png It's outdated as hell, but this was one of my most played SNES games. It could be incorporated into the touchscreen for movement and that's all you really need. Much like Snake, it's hella addictive. There's literally shitloads of 16bit games which could be remade into DS titles. |

Also we need a sticker printer like the gameboy printer for Pokemon Snap DS so we don't have to go to Blockbuster and pay a jillion dollars for a small sheet of stickers. |
I wouldn't mind seeing a DS version of Linerider, but even a good traditional Mana game would be nice ;_;
That said, Startropics. I mean holy shit come on. None of that "we'll just update it for the next gen with puke polygon graffix", but acttually make good use of the DS' awesome 2D capabilities and if possible, even include a classic mode, with original graphics. Best would be being able to select the look on the fly, with being able to play the same save game regardless of graphics type. And where's my Stunt Race FX 2, Nintendo? ;_; That game seems to have become the single most overlooked awesome SNES game, ever since everyone started playing emulators. "haha, Wildtrax? What the hell is that!" |
Qwarky fails to include DS version of Cave Story in his post b/c PSP doesn't deserve such an awesome game. >=|
|
You'd think the ava/sig set was self-explanatory >=|
|
The ava/sig set along with not mentioning it is what makes it worse! >:U
|
No, it's a mention in itself, you fool. Now get back to playing Stunt Race FX, you tool >=0
|
I can't believe I forgot about Kirby's Pinball Land. That game was fantastic. Especially one mini-game where you had to knock food into another Kirby's mouth or something. Eat everything Kirby, eeevvveerrything!
Also Linerider, Stunt Race FX and Snake Rattle 'N Roll = <3 COMBINE ALL OF THEM INTO ONE GAME! |
Holy hot damn, I just got the best idea EVER.
UNIRACERS DS. Keep it exactly the same as the other game as far as gameplay goes. Nothing dumb with the tricks or nothing. Same great tunes and tracks and everything. FLAWLESS. Not much touch screen functionality, you'd think, right? WRONG. TRACK EDITOR. YES. YES THE STYLUS TO MAKE FUCKING TRACKS. AND THEN... SHARE THEM OVER WIFI, and PLAY OTHER PEOPLE ON THEM. Oh God. Imagine it. YES. I have the best ideas ever. |
Quote:
Unless they somehow dumb the version down, but it's bound to lose it's charm in the process. |

Dude, you're talking about emulation. Skills is talking about having the same game but built ground up with code for the DS. It would run fine. Oh, also it would be quite awesome. Nintendo needs to come up with great ideas like this more often. I think Uniracers and Echo the Dolphin or two of the most obtuse game concepts every created.
Oh lol sup Q? ='D |
Uniracers was a sexy game. FZero, but with UNICYCLES.
Ecco the Dolphin is on VC now. <3 |

I would also bring to attention the previously suggested prospect of Blast Corps: Delicious Sex. Whether it's a remake or a true sequel, it would still be wonderful. WiFi co-op world saving, time attack, level creator, turn based tactical game mode with touchscreen planning, vehicle design and a collectable momentary help item in the form of a satellite laser you use by tapping the map for targets. 20-30 second delay, so time it right =o |
How come this thread has turned into "Lets list every great game that was on a Nintendo system, ever?"
O. |
Well, if we're going to talk about games being made from the bottom up, I'd throw out the suggestion of them (re)making Chakan: The Forever Man for DS. The game is unique, and I'd love to see an a sequel or possibly a remix of the original.
I'd throw MechWarrior 3050 into the loop, simple because it's my most played SNES game of all time. But again I don't think the DS could handle something like that. The DS doesn't do 3D too well. I'd like to see a direct port of Kirby Superstar from SNES to DS as well. I don't know if it's possible to remake Superstar in any way without withdrawing the feeling of the original game, but the fact is the DS is a portable handheld and there should be more games where you can just pick up and play. Superstar just feels right. |
I enjoy how I currently think "or" and "are" or the same word. =)
But yeah we suggest great games and great game concepts for the DS because it's obvious we haven't been raped enough by the DS and it's awesometastic selection of great games already. We're all dirty whores and we LIKE IT. Oh baby, yeah! |
I just would like to see Rare (and Nintendo and Square) do something good with its old IP for once.
|
Rare's situation is depressing. They've made great games like Battletoads, Jet Force Gemini, Star Fox 64, Goldeneye, Diddy Kong Racing, Killer Instinct 1 and 2, and so on.
According to the wikipedia article on Rare, most of their key members left during the making of Perfect Dark. I think this is where Rare pretty much ended itself. I haven't seen a decent game made by Rare in a LONG TIME up until recently; Viva Pinata. But last year, PDZ was disappointing. The Banjo sequel looks ridiculous. I think they're a hit-or-miss with games these days. This is particularly saddening: Quote:
|
Star Fox 64 was the best Rare game ever. =D
|
lol Acer.
Quote:
Since the Virtual Console wouldn't make Perfect Dark playable, we're not missing out on anything. Rare should just leave the DS alone, I don't want their copy cat filth on it. Also. Quote:
How it runs on PSP has no bearing. |
No official announcement = no official annoucement. Although IGN is super credible rite so no worries ^_^
Anyway, it seems to me that they have finally gotten all their old gamecube games (PDZ, Kameo, etc) out of the pipeline. Hopefully they've replenished their talent pool and can start working on making new, good games. Viva PiƱata looks really good, so hopefully this means things are looking up for Rare. Have there been any actual gameplay trailers for the new Banjo game? I just remember people seeing some 3D models and going apeshit because Banjo's nose was too big. |
DS Camera!
I'm still in love with my old GB camera and its features. Just imagine this with more than 56 colors and 23040 pixels. :) Would just be pretty hard to place the lense... |

Even the single player mode was mediocre. How it can bare the "Prime" title I'll never understand. |
Hmmm... a game for the DS....
I would have to go with Robotrek. That was an under appreciated game. I have it for SNES emulator but it would be cool to have a sequel or something, even a direct port with a couple of additions would be cool. |
Before the crash there was a thread talking about how both Disciples II: Dark Prophecy, and Jagged Alliance by Strategy First were going to be ported to the DS. I haven't heard anything about it for a while, and i'm still looking to this day. It'll be hard to get right, but if they pull it off, it equals instant buy for me.
I like the DS Camera idea, and the Graphin Calculator idea though. I could make good use of all of those. |

Chrono Trigger ported with extras, including use of the touch screen :)
FFT w/ extras & use of touch screen :) |
Let's see...
We know adventure games world, we know platformers work, we know racing CAN work, we know RPGs can work. We know action can work. Dog caring works. Brain Training works. Music games work.... OH! The good old fighting game. Yeh, there's Jump Superstars and (shudder) Guilty Gear DS but I'm really interested to see if anyone could make a "true" fighting game with the DS capabilities. Street Fighter/Tekken DS anyone? |
Battletoads DS (although Rare's situation has already been discussed here)
Vandal Hearts (wasn't this announced?) FFT, as already mentioned Rocket Knight Adventures (double tap enemies to fly into them) and I could probably go on but I would just end up naming games that loved playing as a kid and not games that would truly utilize the DS's powers |
I was thinking a remake of Super Mario RPG or something... Loved that game to death, but I still never beat it... Thank god for soft-modded XBOXes.
And Street Fighter on the DS would be interesting... Considering that you can finally do a fucking medium attack without hitting L or R while pressing the corresponding button. |
Quote:
Fighting games just don't work on handhelds. Look at Guilty Gear Dust Strikers. Look at Street Fighter Alpha MAX 3. The hard punch/kick are always set to the L and R buttons making it awkward as hell to enjoy playing it. |
Quote:
|
With 3D polygons? It would still look crap on the DS. Plus the clicky d-pad would make movement too hard on the thumb.
What should be made? How about a program to teach Japanese to NON-JAPANESE! What should be remade? Chrono Trigger! SE did do FF3 after all, so if you're gonna milk the cow, milk all the udders damn it! |

And Dark Resurrection is on the PSP, not DS, and it's not like the DS could handle that. |
Super Robot Taisan US (DS elsewhere): Simply put, as many licences that Atlas gives a care about.

And most of them move slow. I guess it would be ok if you don't mind not actually seeing what attacks your characters are pulling off, but for most of us, and definitely the target audience, it would be rubbish. Remember it's not like Naruto or DBZ with special fireballs and such; it's a more precision game. As for 2D fighters, Jump and Bleach have already shown that it works well given not many buttons are required.
|
Move slow? They were moving fine for me. Heck Resident Evil: DS was much faster than the PSone version. It even looks a little better too. Sorry guys. I just don't see what you all see.
|
If you are content with Steve and Ling moving as fast as Chris or Jill, then I guess to each his own. I have yet to see a decent full 3D game on the DS which doesn't look jerky when moving at a fast pace (case in point - VJDD). If you compare to PSP's Naruto beat'em up or Tekken DR, I think you'll see the big difference here: lack of hardware oomph!
But trust me Manny, whatever the argument, Tekken would not work for the DS. After Namco slipped up on T4, they would never take the risk anyway. |
Well I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree then. I blame playing Phoenix Wright for this train of thought, but I have yet to see any hard evidence that DS can't do any sort of 3D game right. I think if it's on the low end side of the graphics department, it can acomplish a lot.
To stick to the thread discussion, I would love to see a Shock Troopers style game for the DS! Any form of arcade shoot em ups at least. Would also be intersted to see what they can do with a Metal Slug DS. Imagine fighting a boss airplane that stays in the upper screen while you're dodging a shitload of bullets on the bottom screen, and shooting up at it at the same time! Can get pretty intense! Just gotta remember, not EVERY DS game should utilize the touch screen. IMO though, every DS game SHOULD utilize the dual screens. The possibilities are endless. Just gotta have a good concept. |
Quote:
Whoa! Lord help the DS! How ever will it handle these super graphics! Double Post: Now then - fighting games on the DS? Soul Calibur 1. End of discussion. TRY and convince me that game would be somehow less than stellar. By the way, wifi plz. Also, a port of Snatcher with Phoenix Wright-esque controls and touch-screen gunplay would win uncontrollable amounts of internets. |
I was just playing Black and White not too long ago and thought about the days when Peter Molyneux used to make groundbreaking games. When I was in 7th grade and I don't know if anyone remembers Populous but I played it for the first time back then and became addicted to that game. I used to play it in my computer class, during recess or whenever I was around computers.
Eventually I ended up buying it on the SNES and right about now I'm thinking that it ought to be updated on the DS or at the very least ported over. I'm not sure if Lionhead holds the rights to this in some way but if they do it's time to put the pressure on that limey fuck to return me to the days when being a god in a game actually MEANT something. |
EA recently decided to port Theme Park to the DS so why not take even more Bullfrog games? They we're all good in my opinion, especially Syndicate, Dungeon Keeper and Magic Carpet. Oh, don't forget Gene Wars. That game was highly underrated.
I'm also waiting for Jagged Alliance 2 DS to finally appear, there's no news from them anymore... hope it's not canned. I would also kill for some decent X-COM ports. |
