THE POWER OF WATER Nov 12, 2006 08:14 PM

maybe the way they say it in the commercials idunno

JazzFlight Nov 12, 2006 08:28 PM

You pronounce it as Reese's, because that's what it is.

It's a proper name. Reese.

Then you add the possession = 's.

Reese's. Reese is. It's his candy.

Why Am I Allowed to Have Gray Paint Nov 12, 2006 08:32 PM

I pronounce it "Rees-iz"; I thought that's how everyone said it >_>.

LZ Nov 12, 2006 08:45 PM

I thought so too until a NOW FORMER FRIEND pronounced it all retarded-like

Little Shithead Nov 12, 2006 11:05 PM

Well if you say it like ree-SEEs, yeah it sounds retarded

I don't even know how I say it half the time, to be honest.

ramoth Nov 16, 2006 03:10 PM

I just eat it like normal people.

Alice Nov 16, 2006 03:36 PM

God I hate it when people say "REE-SEES." I don't know why; I just do.

Ree-sees is a pronunciation left over from childhood. At least, that's my story.

Render Nov 17, 2006 01:35 AM

You were beaten as a child, weren't you. :(

Everyone who is RIGHT. Everyone else is WRONG.

Mojougwe Nov 22, 2006 02:13 AM

It's more like Reeses. Rh-ee-se-es.

Just forget about it and everyone come back to JIFF love'n. JIFF!

Crash "Long-Winded Wrong Answer" Landon Nov 24, 2006 01:34 AM

I pronounce it two ways, depending upon the product.

For the peanut butter cups, yes, I say REE-SEES. Why? Because that's how I learned it. That's how the fucking commercials say it. "REE-SEES! PEA-NUT BUTTER CUP!" So that's good enough for me.

However, I say REE-SUHZ PEE-SUHZ for the Pieces. Why? Because it rhymes and it makes logical sense. I'd never say PEE-SEEZ elsewhere, so why deviate for the candy? And the commercials for Reese's Pieces say PEE-SUHZ, unlike the peanut butter cup ads.

I know Reese is a name, and that it makes sense to say REE-SUHZ all the time, but I don't care that I sometimes say REE-SEEZ. I mean, their own ads make that sin, so don't blame me for agreeing with the people who make the damned things.

PiccoloNamek Nov 24, 2006 01:42 AM

I have never, ever heard a Reese's peanut butter cup commercial pronounce the name as "Ree-sees". Ever. They all say "Ree-suhz". I just looked a whole bunch of them up on Youtube. All of them say "Ree-suhz". Even the older one from the 1980s.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Nov 24, 2006 01:59 AM

I do the ol' "Reese-is", too.

Crash "Long-Winded Wrong Answer" Landon Nov 24, 2006 02:06 AM

Perhaps it's just the Buffalonian accent, then. I know I'm not the only person around here who says REE-SEEZ. I think a lot of people do it, which is why it seems so inoffensive to me.

And that could also be why I remember the old commercials saying "REE-SEEZ", because that's just the way I learned it and my brain perhaps modified my perceptions of the jingle to match.

But big deal. We gave you fuckers buffalo wings. The least you can do is grant us a little slack with the way we pronounce Reese's.

Chibi Neko Nov 24, 2006 08:52 AM

i eat it, i like it, i don't care how people pronouce it.

Balcony Heckler Nov 24, 2006 09:12 AM

exactly, who cares who it's pronounced, just enjoy it

The Wise Vivi Nov 24, 2006 12:36 PM

Ummm, I say Reese's Peanut Buttercups.

I love them... Reese's Pieces are great too. Used to be a personal favorite of mine.

There's a Buffalonian accent? I guess I was too young to notice it; I lived in Kenmore (I hope that counts) for the first twelve years of my life.

In any case, I pronounce it ree-seez. I realize that it really should be literally pronounced, but that's the only way that I've known to pronounce it.

I used to know a girl from Louisiana who would always say REE-SEES, and It made me wanna punch her. Something about that word invokes rage in me.

Im not sure if her being from Louisiana had anything to do with it, but if someone has a similar story maybe we could compare and contrast.

lol...reesiz for me i haven't heard anyone call it reesee's yet

Lunar Seal Nov 29, 2006 10:08 PM

I pronounce it that way. Not sure why, since I know it's pronounced "reese-iz".

But I don't really give a shit how it's pronounced or how anyone else pronounced it. It's not my favorite candy so there is no point in giving a damn.

Erisu Kimu Nov 30, 2006 03:06 PM

Rees-seez rhymes with feces.

Since "Reese's Pieces" rhyme, just take the pronunciation of "Reese's" from "Reese's Pieces" and apply it in front of "Peanut Butter Cups." There, no more confusion. Reese-iz is Reese's.

Yeah, I pronounce it Reese's 'cause that's how my friend said it was called when I bought my first one. Reese's Pieces merely enhance the fact that it's Reese's and not "Ree Sees".

Also, there are those Reese's cereal commercials that come on a lot, too that call it Reese's and not the other way.

CLOudkiller Dec 1, 2006 10:29 AM

I do but its when I really don't think about it. I pronounce it kinda like ree-sis.

Dee Dec 7, 2006 12:01 AM

Ree-sees? Were they not raised in an English speaking country (like USA), because the name "REESE" should be familiar by now.

Vemp Dec 7, 2006 02:49 AM

We don't have that here, lol I win.

Shouldn't it be pronounced as REE-SES PEE-SEZ. Fo sheezy mah jeezy.

nadienne Dec 12, 2006 01:38 PM

My ex said ree-sees and it drove me fucking insane. Like when people say Barnes and Nobles or ex-presso.

He'd say ree-sees pee-sez too, and that was even worse. It's supposed to rhyme. ;_;

You didn't break up just because of that did you? If you did, then I better be careful how I call things as well. :worried:
