Let's see your Gaming Rig
I Can't believe this hasn't been made yet.
Just remembered all the previous one's been lost in the crashes as I stumbled upon nazpyro's journal (nice TV man). Well the timing's right, with one next gen already on the market and the next two on our very doorstep. Time to show us where you game. I'll start. http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/2...lmsmallgd1.jpg Clicky for higher res. Bring 'Em On! |
looks way too clean and sorted for a true gaming station.
|
what zip said, that glass cupboard looks like something out of a museum :eyebrow: is that seriously all your games in that picture?
|
Nice TV, but again it's way too tidy to be a gaming area. Where's all the mess at?
I'll upload mine when I get my camera sorted. Should be sometime tomorrow. |
Is that a fuckin' VIRTUAL BOY.
Anyway, I'll get some pics up once I steal my sister's digital camera. Mine's pretty jacked the hell up -- a stereotypical mess. |
Here's mine. Since I watch TV on it and connect all my consoles to my computer I basicly do all my console/PC gaming right here. You can only see my PS2 here though. You cant see my other consoles which are stuffed under the desk in a cabinet. Ran out of room so they had to go below. ;|
Yeah yeah I know, big fat ugly CRTs. It's still better than my shitty low def television. =( Next gen for me will be more like current gen 1.5. http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/6247/setgn1.jpg |
yeah a gaming setup has to be all dirty.
anyway here's mine: (missing from the picture are: my N64 with my 100000 games, my psp, my DS, all gameboy iterations, my PC behind me taking the picture minutes ago) http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...d/DSCF0240.jpg EDIT: WOW I SEE A SPIDER UNDER MY DVD SHELVES !!!!!!! |
I'll get a picture of mine also. Mine is so disorganized... Even though everything is in my room. <_<
I'll probably do some last minute arranging so it looks presentable. >.< |

These pics are a bit outdated now but it's still roughly the same thing.
Pic 1 features the TV + console setup. Only difference is there's an Xbox 360 sitting on the top of the right tower now. My TV isn't high def or anything but I still think it's pretty damn good. Pic 1 Pic 2 is the bookshelf sitting next to the setup where I store a large majority of my games. Couple additions/subtractions since this picture was taken of course. Pic 2 |
Haha, you guy's rigs have so much shit compared to mine. Which is essentially a computer. Yeah, Haven't been keeping up with console gaming much since I don't really "own" a current gen (PS2/XBox/GC) system. The last system I owned was the PS1, and I have no idea what happened to that.
I still can't believe you have a fucking Virtual Boy. Solid Gold. |
|
http://img483.imageshack.us/img483/616/messypcvb4.png
Notice how messy it is, I don't even have my case closed (and have some power connectors hanging out :)). Here's a view of my wiring to see what a mess I'm in. http://img397.imageshack.us/img397/7...syierpcrf1.png |
Nothing all that great...
This is basically how it looks like now. Note the Sennheiser 555's, they make up for the regular tube TV. If I can't get good picture, at least let me have good sound.
And at least the seats are comfortable too. |
Maybe i'll put up some pictures later, it's way too late for me to even be on GFF right now.
Man, just wait till Knowsnothing gets in here. Is that guy even still around? i haven't seem him lately? |
When I was living at home I also fancied a dustpile of consoles. To my defence, now living in an apartment with my GF, it has to be pretty tidy for me to even keep this stuff around.
On the games part, yes that's mostly what I own (not including my current five PC games). There's a limited number of games I actually care to own. I play most games through once and ditch em. Too many new ones already on the way. Damn envious of those chairs =o |
http://www.darklink2135.com/gallery/...l_DSCN1316.JPG
http://www.darklink2135.com/gallery/...l_DSCN1318.JPG here's mine, lol. my NES, GCN, N64, & Xbox are also packaged into that computer case |

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y13.../random001.jpg I think someone is falling over on the news? Exciting scoop! But yeah, nothing fancy with the TV, nothing fancy with the stereo, nothing faaaancy. GameCube and Saturn are also hooked up at the moment, but they're on the floor. Little troopers. Except Saturn. Saturn is big. Spoiler:
|
You re-arranged your furniture since I was there Infernal?
I can't wait for next yeah when I can actually "create" a setup. Imagine a DS lying on a desk. That's my current setup. |
My room is in a temporary permanent state of a mess so my setup mirrors this quite accurately. No fancy shelves or cabinets here, no no.
http://staff.gamingforce.com/qwarky/IMG445.jpg Xbox is trying its best to hide under my DC, but otherwise the consoles not hooked up and therefore not visible would be my GBA (orly), my PS1 (still on loan at Boo), both of my Saturns and my other DC. http://staff.gamingforce.com/qwarky/IMG446.jpg And my game shelf. Hilarious lack of antialias is due to these being PS1 and PS2 titles, of course. You will notice the PC titles and books use antialias, obviously. http://staff.gamingforce.com/qwarky/IMG447.jpg And the rest. The CDs on top of the tin case (Half-Life 2) on the left are PC games, while the pile next to them are PS2 games. Behind this row are four boxes of burned PS1 games. Not visible would be my Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Resident Evil 4 guides (I seem to just buy guides that look nice and never actually use them) and nearly every single Game Boy Advance game I have. Not to mention a few dozen more PS2 and DC titles. Oh and my PAL Shadow of the Colossus is on loan too. |

Nothing too fancy here. The cabinet is full of Sega Saturn games. |
http://fd.fd/fd.jpg
http://fd.fd/fd.jpg http://fd.fd/fd.jpg http://fd.fd/fd.jpg http://fd.fd/fd.jpg Here's most of my game collection. It's only something like 130 games now, so it's nothing huge. I'm pretty fussy in my taste in games and games that I won't ever play again I usually sell (like Kingdom Hearts) or keep, if they have some collection value. Nobody's going to want a first print Final Fantasy X in 10 years though, so out it goes. There's still a cluster of DS games my friend's currently borrowing, but rest assured they're all japanese and weeaboo as ever. I have a few other games in the corner of my room just waiting to be sold, like Sonic Gems and God of War. Not to mention this: endless chain of megadrive games:
Why is your N64 climbing up the side of your tv? Also, get yourself a wireless controller. |
Why is it there? Because I put it there. Also, I don't like wireless anything. I actually went to the trouble to run an ethernet cable down my wall to hook up to my laptop, rather than just use a wireless card. (Actually, I had one, but stopped using it because my headphone amplifier kept picking up interference from it.)

Ill post a picture of my setup when I get home. I only have 1 game though (Dead or Alive 4, and I suck at it), unlike the nerd elite in this thread.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...m/P1011577.jpg Awesome goodness. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...m/P1011585.jpg I don't buy a whole lot of games. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...mek/HD6501.jpg Sexy. |

Oh, I didn't see this thread. Glad to know it was inspired by my journal entry. And I'll add that that one was inspired by nuttyturnip's entry. :p
So, just to repeat, I'll post my shot here: Click pic for full 4.16 MB photo http://blog.sanemonkey.com/images/awesomeroom_th.jpg I guess I'll describe what's there a bit. In the box on the bottom is 80% of all PlayStation games ever. In the cigar box are my GBA games. The DS game cases go upside down when I have the game out (I'm just organized like that). Yes, that's a massive collection of DBZ and TMNT VHS tapes, because I got them before my DVD days. That's how I roll. That's a kangaroo, not a dinosaur. Genesis, SNES, and NES games in the shoeboxes on right speaker. Consoles you don't see because they're in the cabinet/elsewhere are my GBAs, DSs, Game Gear, NES, and old PSX. More accessories in the cabinets. You also don't see my game boxes or my metal DDR pads. Oh, and unopened Limited Edition Lion King DVD Boxset for the absolute win. |
Quote:
Also, I can't really see your game collection from the bigger picture. |
It's the Samsung LN-S2651D, 26" LCD TV. It's all about Samsung. The TV is absolute awesome, and I highly recommend. The only better in its class is a larger screen size. I just couldn't fit a 32" in that cabinet (it's only about $100-$200 more for 6" wider). :p
As for the games, meh. Maybe I'll take a picture of them sometime. I dunno. I'm sure many of the spine arts are recognizable if own the games yourself. :/ |
I just noticed that naz mentioned me, so I'll post my setup here.
This is my living room: http://home.comcast.net/~nathangentry/rig1.gif I've got my 26" Polaroid HDTV, with a GC, Xbox, Dreamcast, and PS2 hooked up. The shelf on the right is filled with games. My computer is also hooked up to the TV, and when I get a wireless keyboard/mouse for Christmas, I'll be able to surf from the couch or comfy chair. I've also got a Cobalt Flux for DDR, but getting it to sync up with the new TV hasn't been fun. This is my bedroom, with my older systems: http://home.comcast.net/~nathangentry/rig2.gif Here's my N64, NES, Saturn, and Genesis. I don't play these a whole lot, but it's still nifty to have them set up. There's a Virtual Boy in the closet, but I don't have a place to display it. |
Osnap new setup picture.
http://www.killmoms.com/matt/desk2.jpg Mac Pro Quad, 4 2.66GHz cores, 1GB RAM, 512MB Radeon X1900XT. It's a beast in all the latest games, in OS X or in Windows. I love it. No consoles yet, but I bought the Dell 2407 so I'd have options for the next gen ones. Xbox 360 is probably first on the list because of Gears of War and Assassin's Creed. PS3 will be added whenever a Fumito Ueda game is out for it yet. Wii I'll decide on after a while. I have a PS2, but not here... it's back in VA with my other stuff. Need to get that crap sent, actually. |
Taken with a 4 year old camera, dont bitch to me about quality.

I thought that's just a reflection of the tv and bundles of wires. |
Bah, everyone's got all these nice TVs and setups... I've got the surround sound system going in the living room, but it's 'complimented' by a shitty old 27" TV. And whenever the screen goes really light/bright/white, the picture flickers and sometimes cuts out. It's REALLY annoying trying to navigate the Wii menus, especially the Wii Shop Channel, cause it's all white-based.
I'm looking to pick up a nice HDTV though, and I see a LOT of that Samsung one. Any other suggestions? Also, will post pics as soon as I find batteries for my camera. [edit] That didn't take long. Thumbnails linked to full versions so I don't stretch the forum. That's not all my games... My brother brought a few to a friends place, and a couple others are on loan. The last one shows both 'stations' pretty well. Glowing Wii disc slot ftw! :D |

Killer setup man. That must be a screaming gaming machine!! If you had a 8800GTX, you could 3dMark higher than any other PC bastards! BTW, What is that knob thing on the desk? I've always wanted one of those, but I keep forgetting what it is called. Help!! I'll post my setup in the next week. I've got a HTPC hooked up to a 32" HDTV, a Cube, N64, SNES, PS1, and an Atari all hooked up. Also a Wii temporarily but it's my roomies. Check back soon... |
Here's my stuff. These pics were taken a while ago, and not much has changed except that I have a Saturn now that is not hooked up because of lack of space.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4.../my_room01.jpg In the bookshelf are various books, most are game related, the rest are science fiction and fantasy, followed by my collection of PS2, GCN, XB, PSX, DC, SNES, NES and N64 games. The CD rack in between my TV holds my CDs (duh) and I wish I could find more shelves. They cost me 10 bucks and can hold like 50 or 100 per shelf or something like that. I don't remember off hand who makes them. I just wish I could find more of them. |
I'll have to see about fetching the digital camera. My collection is split between me and my sister - we've each got a GCN and N64, and I have a SNES, and she has a NES. Obviously favoring a single company.
Nothing too fancy otherwise - 25" TV (or somewhere around that), no sound system to speak of, everything crammed into the shelf unit below the TV. Don't have many games though - my sister has all of those. |
(Sorry about picture quality, only camera I have right now is on my MacBookPro :p)
First, my PC *new* cause I do alot of gaming on it (Oblivion,DoD Source, Company of Heroes, NFS MW) Here's my system. The mobo and DDR memory are a temporary solution until a P965 mATX board comes out. The CPU runs very cool, less than 30C under load, and that's with stock cooling. Very happy with the case/core2duo combo. Microfly Ultra Core2Duo - e6400 Stock ECS VIA P4M890T-M2 1GB DDR400 Sapphire X1950Pro 256MB Creative Extigy Maxtor 160GB SATA Maxtor 250GB ATA-133 LiteOn Lightscribe DVD-DL/CDRW XClio 500W Goodpower Without further ado, here is my Core2Duo Microfly HTPC System. http://img115.imageshack.us/img115/447/photo237vl0.jpg http://img469.imageshack.us/img469/3773/photo239la2.jpg It looks very "wirey" in the pics, but really there is a alot of breathing room in the case itself. http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/4555/photo241zq2.jpg And here is my Home Theater from the couch. http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/7435/photo243er5.jpg Here's a closer look at the setup. Left to right is, Logitech 500W Subwoofer, SNES, N64, Gamecube, A/V Switcher, Atari 2600, Playstation, HTPC, and Nintendo Wii. The display is a Westinghouse 32w2, 32" LCD HDTV @1366x768. http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/193/photo249tl4.jpg Here's a different angle. http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/5296/photo247zp1.jpg Here's a fairly upclose look at the display playing a H264 rip of Princess Bride. http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/3388/photo248xe7.jpg Here are the controllers/remotes. I have a wired keyboard, but the thing is really an amazing keyboard. Scroll wheel in the spacebar, USB plug upper right, and great programmable hot keys along the top. The mouse is a Logitech MX700, works with quite a range actually. ATI Remote Wonder II for controlling mouse as well as Media Player Classic/Winamp. Remote for television and sound system there too. Oh and the Wiimote/Nunchuk for, well, Wii'ing. http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/9189/photo244gz8.jpg |
Nice! Wireless mouse/keyboard combo... and I assume the PC is wired right into the TV? I'd love to have a setup like that. :D

It is a great setup especially for how much it has cost me. HDTV $899 a year ago. PC newly built ~$400 + old parts from other PC. Game systems all bought new and over the years never sold any of them or the games. Oh, and buy games used... So much cheaper. Entertainment center around $50. Gaming in widescreen heaven = priceless. |
My Wii has been doing a fair bit of traveling, but now I've finally got it setup for good, so it's time for an update.
http://img160.imageshack.us/img160/9...ntendo1da7.jpg NES, SNES, N64, NGC, Wii, GB, GBP, GBP Light, GBC, VB, GBA, GBA SP, GBA Micro, NDS and NDS Lite. I guess the console part of my collection is now complete then. Spoiler:
EDIT: Pic updated. |
That picture looks almost identical to the one you originally posted, except now it has a Wii. :tpg:

I got it for about $50 back in 2003, almost mint condition, including box and everything. I don't know if that was cheap or expensive, I just bought it because they were rarely seen in that condition.
Another thing was almost never seen: The Satellaview. But to my surprise they seem to spawn out of nowhere these days (or maybe the japs just found out that stupid collectors are paying good money for their useless old stuff). Either way, I might pick one up sometime along with the 64DD. They will look so great together with the Cube on the Gameboy Player :3 ::nerd:: EDIT: Might as well post my slightly updated PC setup as I'm posting anyway. http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/4...mpc2007em5.jpg |

After some time, I finally decided to get pictures of my gaming set up...
My systems move around ALOT in my house. I have to either game in one of four areas. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...iononecopy.jpg This is set up number one. The family living room. The TV is nice, but the quality over the years have gone down significantly, we're planning to replace it with a nice flat screen. I usually set up my PS2 here if I wanna play DDR, or play some Wii when company is over. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...ocationtwo.jpg Gaming location number two. Yes, my kitchen, but we have two kitchens. We never use this one. It's just for display. :| Since we don't use this for anything, I thought I might as well set up my games here. I usually use this area when my parents are using the TV downstairs and I have to set up for company. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...ationthree.jpg Gaming Location number three. My brother's room on the Living Room side. It was initially designed for me and my brother to keep our systems there, but there's not really alot of room to do anything, unless i'm playing some PS2, or XBOX, or whatever... It's just for casual playing. I haven't brought my Wii or DDR pads up here... It's in the attic anyway, I wouldn't want to. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...cationfour.jpg Gaming location number four. My room. I have my desk set up right in front of my bed so I could just lay back and chill while playing. Defenitely not the ideal place to play Wii, but all I have to do is turn my TV to the open area in my room, then I have enough room for myself at least. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...g/gamestwo.jpg Here's my little gaming collection. Not the biggest one, but it's not all of it. Just mainly consisting of PS2, GC, and XBOX cases. I have way more games than this, but I keep all of them in this. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...g/gamesone.jpg It's better for me on lugging it around to friend's houses. So I don't have to cram a backpack with 30 cases. :| |

Yeah, but the rumor is definitely not dead yet.
A couple of other hints here and here. Someone should post their setup to get this one on the right track again. |
I'm still really happy with my rig. It isn't pimped out with a HDTV and a mass of consoles (in fact, my N64, PS1, Megadrive, SNES and a bunch of other ones are tucked away) but I like it. This picture was taken from sitting at the corner of my bed.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g259/vespene/rig.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g259/vespene/door.jpg I'm not sure you know just how big this entertainment cabinet is. So try to judge from the shot I took from the door. In saying that, I NEED NEW FUCKING CURTAINS. These ones are 14+ years old. ;_; Anywho, as you can see the xbox is gone. I traded that for a 360 (score). A Wii has appeared, and I've changed cabinets (from the one on the far left to the white one) for more space. Thanks to my mother for making extra shelves. The older cabinet is great for holding DVD games, so I might keep it and see if there's something I can do with it in the future. Funny story, though. That mushroom in my amp? After I took these pictures, I hit up my Wii for some Toejam and Earl. Of course the music in TJ&E fucking rocks so I cranked the amp. The mushroom literally FLEW ACROSS THE ROOM when I did that. If the cupboard (with two doors, far left) wasn't there, my room would gain a fair amount of space back. Too bad nothing can be done about it right now though. Unfortunately it'll be a little difficult to move into the spare bedroom we have due to so much stuff. I'm not done with my room's setup though. I'd like to get a white PS2, along with a white PS2 wireless logitech controller. White is sexy. Anyway I'd stick my 360 in there, but 1) lack of 720p and 2) it'd probably overheat if I placed it above the PS2) puts me off the idea. I love the tv, too. It's perfect for the PS2 and Wii. I'm setting up another rig in the living room (living room's also a mess) to use my 360 with a monitor which I haven't purchased yet (but will). |

You should totally get that white Slim PS2. Speaking of importing, I kinda sniffed up the Satellaview and the 64DD too. I think I'm done now =P http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/2...64ddnw6.th.jpg Sup Skills :p |

I'm not sure if there's white PS2 consoles in asian versions, which would be better. Hong Kong have the same voltage as New Zealand. My friend has a fat white PS2 (I think it was released in japan with GT4) which looks great. |

Um, so hopefully you can excuse the shitty picture, but all I have is my camera phone (which I thought would take better pictures...) Now obviously, my crowning centerpiece is the 50" 1080p Sony SXRD I picked up two months ago. You can imagine I debated a lot before making this purchase, but I'm completely pleased with the set. It's actually making me want to get a PS3 now that I can experience BluRay in full glory. Beyond that, we've got the usual Xbox, Xbox 360, PS2 (hiding on top of the Xbox) and Wii suspects. Plus DVD player, cable box, stereo receiver, you know. Where's Waldo bonus: See if you can spot the 4 Wiimotes! |
Nice (and HUEG) TV. With such a big 1080p native TV I would definitely focus on Blu-ray. I don't know how good the player is in the PS3, but LittleBigPlanet<3 coming next year should alone be sufficient reason to get one anyway.

There we are, my small collection of consoles and faithful laptop and pioneer hi-fi!

This is my room, and new gaming rig. 32" Samsung HDTV, 360, Wii, PS2, sub woofer and 4 speakers. http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/jo...&entryid=23932 |
Alright he's my go at it. Tried to fit them all in 1 picture, but my room is just too small to really do that. So I'll do it in 3.
http://img92.imageshack.us/img92/7593/35293269yg4.jpg As you can see this is my where I sit at the PC. The way you see it now is pretty much how it always looks. It's been much much worse. ;) http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/6370/96955576wk9.jpg My games. I still have all my old NES, SNES, Megadrive and N64 games, but I put those away a long long time ago. I see no reason to keep them hooked on. If I really want to replay them I'll just emulate on the PC. http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/6561/56852367pp8.jpg The TV and PS2. You can see the PSX in the back but it's just there for decoration really. I stopped playing PSX games on them a long time ago. ePSXe is so much better. Unfortunately my PAL PS2 died a year ago, so he couldn't make it in this picture. |
My setup. Really enjoying my new 1080p Bravia LCD-tv:D

That's a very nice setup! There's definitely something majestic about tower speakers.
The PS2 still around? |
Yep, PS2 is still around. I'm from Europe and I had it modded. Practical all my games are import-rpg's so I need it still to get my rpg-fix ;)
|
Why do you only have 3 speakers?
|
Because the other 2 are behing me and I don't have a camera that can take 360 degree pictures? :D
And technically, its 4 speakers if you count the big black subwoofer ;) |
Ashram, are those Dali speakers? Looks great either way :)
|
Nope, they're Pioneer speakers. The subwoofer is a Boston. I have to say, the speakers are a few years old, but hey: if it sounds good, I'm not complaining ;)
