Songs you love to loop
I've been looping songs over and over for hours recently while studying until the wee hours of the morning. I wouldn't be able to do this with just any kind of song, it has to be something that I can hum to, that sounds somewhat trance-inducing or ambient, so that I can easily push it to the back of my mind and concentrate on the notes. However, the music helps me study and it's always there for a listen when I feel like taken a momentary break.
Last night the song I used for this was Mad World by Gary Jules. Tonight it's Frozen by Madonna. So, am I the only one that likes to loop songs for hours? Does looping drive you crazy, so much so that you MUST have a mix going, or at least, an album (from a single artist)? What tracks do you love to loop? |
I tend to loop albums if i loop anything. Otherwise i'm just known for playing a song something like 3 times in a day.
The song i can never get sick of is "A Change of Seasons" by Dream Theater. It has an effect on me when "Another World" starts, almost no other song can come close to. |
I'll loop a song if I want to sustain a particular mood. If I have a lot of work to do i'll listen to some bracing military music to keep me going. If I want to relax i'll listen to something slow with nice female vocals. There are so many to choose from though it'd be hard to list them all.
At the moment i'm looping tracks by Bjork. Oh, and Eric Satie's Gymnopedie, which is just amazing. |
What song I loop depends on my mood really... lately I've been looping Write in Pain from GGXX like crazy though...
|
Usually, if I loop anything, it's:
Orbital - Halcyon + on + on Aoineko - Natural Augmentation Theory Aphex Twin - Matchsticks Aphex Twin - Alberto Balsam Or if I'm into one particular song at the moment, I might loop it for a few plays, but those tracks (and probably a few others I have forgotten) I can loop for hours. |
I don't generally listen to tracks on their own. I tend to listen to whole albums, really, and I usually don't listen to an album twice in a row. I'm a firm believer in songs that need to be hard in context.
|
I loop short songs like Hora De Verdad and pretty much everything from a popnmusic/guitarfreaks/drummania/etc. ost over and over again because they're short, catchy, and not so repetitive.
As well, I loop my most favourite JRock songs over and over again, at least 10 times per sitting such as Hanamuke (Chirinuruwowaka) and Kinkyori Ren'ai (Go! Go! 7188), all the while accumulating play count. Youtube music videos also substitute for songs when I don't have the actual track on hand. |
Generally, I don't like looping songs, but if I really, really like a song (as in, I like it so much that I actually memorize the song and start singing it in my head when I'm not listening to it), I can stand listening to it multiple times in a row.
The only songs that I've done this with lately is "How To Save A Life" by The Fray and "When You Were Young" by The Killers. |
My god... I have so many songs that I just LOVE to put on a loop and just zone out to. A whole lot of them are techno / electronica songs, but every once in a while different genres sneak in there. I'll just list a few of my "Most Played" iPod tracks.

Also lol Miles makes music. |
Songs I've done this with, according to iTunes:
1. Pain - "Bye/Die" (21 plays) 2. All That Remains - "This Calling" (17 plays) 3. Cemetary - "Coma Burn" (16 plays) 4. Cult of Luna - "Marching to the Heartbeats" (16 plays) 5. OSI - "Go" (15 plays) 6. Coldseed - "Democracy Lesson" (14 plays) 7. Cult of Luna - "Finland" (14 plays) 7. Katatonia - "Evidence" (14 plays) 8. Blind Guardian - "Fly" (13 plays) 9. In Flames - "World of Promises" (12 plays) 10. In Flames - "My Sweet Shadow [Industrial]" (12 plays) I've not been using iTunes for too long, and according to Winamp my top tracks are "Bulletblues" by Mercenary (114 plays) and "Go" by OSI (103 plays). |
Well, recently I have looped the old school hip hop track ''93 till infinity'' by ''Souls of Mischief''. I really like this song at the moment.
I have also looped some video game music that I really like - specifically the mega man 2 tracks, however I only have them in midi format. |

Just recently I have been looping "The Open Door" by "Evanescence". I'm really liking this album.
|
I listen to my ambient Thunderstorm sounds all night. I don't know if that counts. When I study, I listen to Sunday Drive on repeat. Its an older non lyrical music. Came out around 1997. Very nice to listen to.
|
I just keep looping the song "Nutshell" by Alice in Chains. I love it.
Also, "The Legend of Johnny Cash" CD. |
Alberto Balsalm by Aphex Twin. Its great to listen to while working on the computer. Very peaceful in an Aphex Twin sort of way.
I just throw it on winamp and let it play until I start to become aware of the fact that its repeating. |

Gagle - RODDY を DRIVE! |
well today I just discovered "Heavenly Star" a song created by the creator of Lumines and was made especially for Lumines 2.
I'm looping this song for hour now and will probably last all week till I either find something else or return to the "Emilie Simon - Vegetal" album that I was looping for the past 2-3 week XD |
I'm not so much into looping music, except I listened to "Step Up Ghetto Blaster" by Mindless Self Indulgence 47 times in a row once, xD. My friend always had "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell playing non-stop on his computer for hours at a time, we checked the playcount on iTunes recently and it was over 500, lol...
|
1. Meshuggah - Erroneous Manipulation (25)
2. Agalloch - A Celebration for the Death of Man (24) 3. Kalmah - Burbot's Revenge (22) 4. Into Eternity - 3 Dimensional Aperture (21) 5. Nevermore - The River Dragon Has Come (21) 6. Nevermore - I, Voyager (21) 7. Vital Remains - Dechristianize (21) 8. All That Remains - I Die in Degrees (20) 9. Lamb of God - 11th Hour (20) 10. The Black Dahlia Murder - When the Last Grave Was Emptied (19) Those are my most played songs. I really don't like to loop songs, however I will often listen to albums done by a specific band if I feel like it. |
The Rapture - The Devil
The Rapture - Whoo! Alright... Yeah Uh Huh (WAYUH) Men, Women, And Children - Dance In My Blood Alter Ego - Rocker Soulwax Feat. Nancy Whang - E-Talking (Nite Ver.) Hot Chip - Over And Over (Essential Mix) Royksopp Feat. Karin Dreijer Andersson - What Else Is There most of them are electro & post-punk based music that I enjoy looping :megaman: :megaman: |
Lately it's been "The Tin Roof" by the Minutemen. I've listened to this brief masterpiece 40 odd times in the day or so since I downloaded it. What's so great about looping this, too, is that the end seems to fade perfectly into the beginning. Good stuff.
|
This past week or two, I've been listening to Day Old Hate by Dallas Green. His voice is O_O
|
I looped "Consequence" from Ace Combat 5, "Mysterious Door" from Growlanser IV and "Wings of Despair" from Soul Calibur III in Sound Forge since I listen to them so often. I hate having to go through a fade-out ever couple minutes when I often listen to those songs for even hours straight.
|
I rarely, if ever, loop tracks. I don't even loop albums all that much. I do listen to some tracks repeatedly over the course of a day, but I rarely repeat tracks.
The only track I can recall repeating a lot is Weezer's "Perfect Situation" when I was hanging out with a friend. We repeated that song about... 5 times? Not much, really. I love that song. |
In Flames - Episode 666 I remembered looping about seven times. Same with Insomnium's Mortal Share, which is about 6 - 7.
Hell, I loop music that often. Most metal songs in my directory take about 4 - 5 loops everytime then I get bored of them. |

I just got out of a 2 hour Solitary Shell loop. I can't stop listening to that song, mostly becuase it just flows into itself perfectly. |
Right now it's hellogoodbye- Here (In Your Arms). It just won't die.
|
I just listened to/watched this three times in a row:
geocities.com/ex_striker2/3033Princess-azumanga.swf (can't link cuz my post count isn't up high enoguh yet...so you'll have to do the http www ...how many does it need to be at???) Great Azumanga Daioh themed ASCIIs set to a cute song |
1. Scatman's World ~ Scatman John
2. I'm The Scatman ~ Scatman John 3. Haruka Kanata (2nd Season Naruto Main Theme)~ Naruto 4. I Live By The Groove~ Paul Carrack 5. I Ran Over The Taco Bell Dog ~ Weird Al Yankovich??? |

I just finished watching the movie "Hard Candy" and god it was so good! one of the best movie I have seen ^^
and I so love the credit song!! so now it will be on loop till I get bored and return to my Emilie Simon album XD oh and btw the song name is Elephant Woman by Blonde Redhead ^^ |
Keane - "Bedshaped" and "A Bad Dream". Such great songs. I listen to those 2tracks mose of my days.
|
I have a tendency to loop anything that I am currently into. But recently, quality trance seems to be the most looped type of music on comp.
|
both of the theme songs from the Kingdom hearts series. both done by japanese artist Utada Hikaru. Simple and Clean from KH1 and Sanctuary from KH2
|
for me it would have to be the track "transformation" from the brother bear OST. there is something about that choir that makes me want to loop the song over and over..
|
Recently I've been looping Pizzicato Five's "Y.O.U. (I wanna be like you)", Bjork's "Hunter", Tricky's "For Real" and Fantastic Plastic Machine's "Electric Lady Land". But out of those songs I've been really obsessed with Pizzicato's "Y.O.U. (I wanna be like you)".
|
I hardly ever do it but I remember listening to 'The Trial' by Pink floyd over and over again. Such a great song...
|
There are many that I can do this with, but I'd have to think about most of them. The most obvious is "Into the West" from Lord of the Rings. I was on my mission for my church when the soundtrack came out, and I picked it up right away. My companion and I (we always travel in twos) listened to it once through in the car, then put Into the West on endless repeat for three days straight. I kid you not - we must have heard it 50+ times in a row. And I still liked it at the end, and still like it to this day.
|
There have been many of them I've done this with. But one I always seem to come back to is Boards of Canada's "Corsair" from their album "Geogaddi." It's barely even a song, I guess, but something about it is so compelling to me... I think it's how it conjures up such a clear mood of melancholy and such specific imagery in my head. It's amazing really, it's basically just a four-chord drone song. I dunno, but I love it.
|
Sometimes I get obsessed with a song and I can't stop listening to it. Right now that would be Sit Down. Stand Up. (Snakes and Ladders) by Radiohead, but tomorrow it could be anything. Right now I'm on about the 5th loop of it, and I'm still not bored.
|
I feel that over-listening to a song kinda wears it down, hence I almost never listen to the same track more than once at a time. There are exceptions, though they usually lean towards the ambient side. The Celtic Moon arrangement of the Final Fantasy IV main theme comes to mind, as well as the last track of the Dir en grey album Kisou (which is a simple, piano-led instrumental).
|
1) The Complete Amadeus Soundtrack
2) Fergalicious 3) Everything by Fergie 4) Everything by Bond then, of course, I don't listen to them for about a month. (that's how I get Time Warp on my mind...... god it's getting annoying...) |
- The Rent Soundtrack (Original Broadway or the Movie Soundtrack)
I love the Rent soundtrack to death, if there's anything I could probably listen to for hours on end, it's this. |

These four items simply cannot coexist within the same thought. They...they just can't. It's not possible. It can't be possible. You're destroying this world. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? |
I don't do this as often for songs that are old to me, but for newly discovered artists I would loop my favorite song(s) continuously. Lately I've been digging David Bowie - Space Oddity, Boston - Tell Me, and another David Bowie - The Man Who Sold the World.
|

Also, as of late I've been looping a lot of Liszt. And Fergalicious/London Bridge... Is there something wrong with me? Insanity and suicide runs in my family, so I wouldn't be surprised. Wait, the voices say I have a phone call. :psyduck: |
selfish (chill mix) by sunset daze.
avenue q/monthy python spammalot album when i need a laugh. |
Theme of Mononoke Hime as sung by Sasha Lezard. Awesome voice. Also, when I need to relax, I loop Phantasmagoria by Nobou Uematsu - AMAZING album.
|
I love to loop tracks from soundtracks and Broadway musicials. The other night I was looping different songs from Les Mis. Tonight, it's been Finding Neverland
|
"Neighborhood #3: Power Out" by Arcade Fire, what an intense song!
Also, any and everything Radiohead, that new "Videotape" song is beautiful!!! |
Currently, I'm looping People Are Strange by The Doors, and have been for about an hour (somewhere around 30 times through the song).
And according to iTunes, I've also done this with: E-Pro by Beck Space Oddity by David Bowie The Opening Theme to Hellsing Cowbell by tapes n tapes Around the World In A Tea Daze by Shpongle Don't Stop Me Now by Queen Sheep by Pink Floyd Unprotected Sex With Multiple Partners by Against Me! and 'Lil Samba by David Grisman |

On the Twentieth Century is another great one. Lately I've been looping Don't You (forget about me) a lot... in addition to everything else.. |
I can't stop listening to Walls of Jericho - A Trigger Full of Promises. Which is unusual, because normally music doesn't get to me like that...
|
Right now it's "Boy's Don't Cry" by The Cure. But I tend to listen to whole albums and not only to single songs. Favourite album to loop? Well, there are so many... but I'll choose "Director's Cut" by Fantomas and err...um... "Adultery" by Dog Fashion Disco.
In fact it changes with my mood. |
Muse - Supermassive Black Hole
Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun Queen - Don't Stop Me Now David Bowie - "Heroes" Secret Chiefs 3 - Horsemen Of The Invisible Jeff Buckley - Dream Brother Nine Inch Nails - We're In This Together Temple Of The Dog - Reach Down Sigh - 42 49 Pearl Jam - Even Flow ...and others, but that's an even 10, so I'll stop there. |
Compagnie Jellouli & Gdih - Al Jbal Li Dargoug Aaaliya
I looped that for quite some time. It's a great rhythmic song which I think lends itself to looping... and it was a random fine on "The Rough Guide to the Music of the Sahara". I looped ★CANDY POP IN LOVE★ by Tommy february6 at loud volumes when my neighbors upstairs had loud parties. I looped Galapagos by Smashing Pumpkins the whole way back from NY (to DE) but no one else in the car seemed to notice that.... |
I haven't listened to any of my cd's for a while, but I used to loop the whole of FFVII OST or The Prodigy - Their Law (the singles '90-'05) mainly through the night to help me sleep (although how songs like 'Smack My Bitch Up' and 'Firestarter' helped me sleep I don't know...)
|
Right now.. its Bohemian Rhapsody.
|
Recently I've been looping Empire of Light (Tin Hat Trio - Book of Silk) cause the girl singing sounds super hot.
|

i usually loop whole albums we i listen to metal.
But for other types of music i usually loop one song that i am stuck on at the moment. Right now i am looping the hell out of the epilogue of ace combat 0 great song :D |
I haven't been one to loop songs often, but lately I've had this song on repeat:
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - Nagato vs Asakura.mp3 |
Around the World by ATC.
I have been listening to this on loop probably 20 times in a row. Yeah, it's kind of gay, but the tune is just so catchy. I can't seem to get it out of my head. |
I loop the songs "Sometimes Always" by JMC, "Come on Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight runners, and "Asleep" by The Smiths...I can listen to these songs weeks at a time without listening to anything else...sometimes I just have them overlap one another.
