Your Favorite Night Time Snack
Ok.... Its late, you are sitting at your computer on Gamingforce as usual and you are hungry. What do you get to snack on while trying to dominant the world?
I usually make myself a toasted sandwich with those chocolate sprinkles I love so much. Or otherwise I grab a Granola Almond bar. I have a tendency of drinking a lot of fluids when its late as well. As a result, I go to the washroom more often. So, what do you enjoy snacking on at 12:00 Midnight? Noodles? A full meal? Or something simple? Any suggestions for a great late night snack? |
Got to be oreos and milk, for me. Nothing says "I'd better brush my teeth before bed" like mushy chocolate and milk film.
|
I usually have a grilled cheese sandwhich or pizza... or burgers... -_- @ diet... I never have sweet stuff ever >_> makes me feel ill <_<
|
Klondike bars have recently been my addiction late at night. Luckily they aren't *too* bad, but having one every other night catches up to you real quick.
|
I've recently been having sliced bagles, toasted, buttered, and topped with shredded garlic and parmesan cheese. You've gotta try it. Best savoury snack for the late-night.
|
I like the cereal with ice cold milk. Pretty simple, but it fills the void and tastes good...AND milk helps me sleep.
Its a win win win really, why even lie. |
Anything with a lot of energy to put me into a carb-coma, including packaged noodles/KD, cereal, toast with jam and Eggos.
|
I tend to go for noodles when I'm feeling hungry at night. Quick and simple to make, and tasty too. They have to have some added flavour to them though, I'm keen on noodles without any flavour.
|
Recently I've been going for some cereal and milk. Or an apple if I have any.
|
Always cereal and milk - maybe if I have yogurt I'll have that, but 99 times out of a hundred, it's milk and cereal.
|
I try to make my midnight snack no midnight snack. There are exceptions, however, but these usually occur if I haven't had dinner or something down those lines. If that's the case, then I'll most likely have a bowl of yoghurt.
|
I usually will down a Diet Coke. If I am really hungry, usually a bowl of ramen helps me out.
Then again, I usually eat dinner so late that there is never a late-night snack. |
Most kinds of packaged and preprocessed cookies/candy/sugary food item. To me, sugar and the night get along great.
|
I usually have some crackers whenever I'm hungry late at night. I don't eat anything sweet before going to bed because I actually find that I'm unable to fall asleep after eating.
|
I like frosted flakes with some milk. BUT, it has to be microwaved. When you take it out, the flakes are damp full of warm milk. It's almost like a rich, thick oatmeal consistancy.
|
I LOVE cheese and crackers... cheese wiz on the square salted top crackers...
and I would love to munch on those small microwave minipizzas. either those or miso soup with popcorn is nice too. |
I haven't had any late snacks lately, but back in school, I used to munch on Terra Chips or some kind of trail mix assortment I created at a supermarket. Sometimes I'll even get a full meal, which could really be anything, a sandwich or burger from somewhere, Chinese food, pizza, rice and meat, etc.
|
I usually just drink a hot cup of tea or I eat some rice krispies without milk. I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of night time snacks tho... it always gives me the worst nightmares.

But in all seriousness, ice cream sandwiches are the shit. The downside is that when you hold the thing in your mouth so that you can type, it usually just falls on your lap. |
Carbs at night are a disaster waiting to happen.
Every night before bed I have peanuts, walnuts, and a chocolate protein shake. Sometimes I mix it up with peanut butter and cottage cheese. Yum. |
I take in lots of donuts and orange juice. Something about the combination gets me dizzy and feeling healthy at the same time!
Double Post: I also like buffalo wings...mountains of them...with some cold beer and a hot girl to entertain you. |
Plain corn chips + salsa! Failing that, vegemite on ricecakes. Failing that, raid the freezer for something.
|
POP. CORN. wait... i ment popcorn. OH! and a cooler on the side ^_^
|
Coconut maccaroons, bananas, or my new favorite cookies: Brent and Sam's Premium Gourmet Cookies in White Chocolate Macadamia. YUM YUM YUM!!!! *munches on another cookie*
|
Lately I've been addicted to instant oatmeal (Cinnamon and raisin flavor).
Other things I like eating if I get hungry before bed: corn chips, popcorn, apples, toast with almond butter, cereal. |
I'm not usually hungry at night, but when I snack, I go for the most random things. It could be salad, chocolate, yoghurt, biscuits, crisps, even just sauces by themselves (I have no idea why I do that). I've actually got into the habit of making up a little bit of a bernaise marinade my brother invented a while back and just eating that. It's so bloody nice ^_^ Of course sometimes I eat some cheese for my cheese-dreams, and when I've been hungry and had no idea what to eat I've been known to try raw gravy powder and other such disgusting things.
|
If I have a bag of candy or something lying around, it's not going to last long past midnight. Aside from that, I don't do much midnight snacking, unless I havn't eaten dinner. In that case, I usually have a heaping bowl of dry cereal. With 4 other people in the house, I have to be rather discreet about my presense in the kitchen at that hour.
|
its never a bad time for yogurt exept when I run out and all I have is pudding:mad:
|
I'm doing the whole midnight snack thing right now.
The guilty pleasure this time: Ritz sticks crackers, and leftover Rockets [Smarties to you US peoples] and Swedish Berries from Halloween. :D Normally I'd just grab something like the crackers, but the extra candy was a bonus today. |
Ginger snaps seem to be the norm for me. I for some reason or another always have them around. They just seem to be the perfect low key snack for late night internet browsing and work.

~ Breyer's strawberry ice cream
~ real licorice (not Twizzlers, although those are alright) ~ buttered noodles with garlic salt ~ soup ~ candy ~ bagels and cream cheese ~ whatever else is tasty |
eating right before you go to sleep is bad for you. you guys really shouldn't do it.
but then again, sometimes you've had a night of heavy drinking, and you come home, hit a bowl and gotta throw some tasty fuel in the tank to keep yourself knocked out. In many cases I eat: taco hell - grilled stufted burrito with chicken lo mein from a local chinese joint or Famos Amos cookies. |

I usually eat anything! But I have to say, I LOVE refrigerated green bean casserole late at night. There's just something about it.......
|
I'm not much of a midnight snacker. I make it a point not to eat during the span of 3 hours before going to bed.
But, there are those nights where just the urge to grab a bite while writing a paper or going over some work that just needs to be done. SO in order to keep with the routine, I rate my hunger depending on my apetite. If it's anything less than what can be satisfied with either a rice ball or a cinnamon roll, I skip eating and go to bed. Anything more on the hunger than the above, I go for a small bowl of ramen, topped with egg and green onions and any other random garnishes I can find in the fridge. |
Sometimes I'll dig out something sweet, but most of the time late at night I'm more in the mood for something salty. There's never a wrong time for cashews, and a small bowl at midnight can be quite tasty. No better nut exists for snacking, not even the peanut.
|
Coco Pops :D for some reason I always get cravings for them around 2am
|
I don't eat anything after dark, I heard it's not good for your health.
|
Hah! Just reading this thread has made me hungry for a snack. My favorite midnight snack would have to be ramen. Maybe throw a little cheese in there. If I don't feel like getting out of bed to get a snack I usually have a box of thin mints and doritos by my bed... Don't ask why they taste so good together, they just do. Bon appetit!
|
Usually a baked bean toastie or noodles (ramen)
Although sometimes i get mad cravings for burritos :$ |
Curry; it's always a good time for curry. And if you don't think so; than you can just shove it.
Edit: I don't mean to sound like an ass; i just haven't had anything but instant ramen, bagels and coffee for like 2 weeks. I'm kinda craving..... |
In all honesty, I haven't really had curry before. Know where I could probably get a hand of it?
|
Actually yes; which part of canada do you live in? If you live in vancouver find one of your chinese friends and he/she will tell you all the best places for curry. Try to shy from japanese curry though; it's sweet and most people who have had it wouldn't really consider it curry. Indian curry is always good to start with if you think you have a strong stomach; thai curry is espiecally spicy since they have no taste buds; since i'm chinese i like chinese curry the best so my opinion is kinda skewed. Any middle-eastern curry is good; punjab; pakistani; etc etc.
But really you can pick up like a ready to cook package from any asian supermarket; all you need are a few ingredients, like garlic, beef or chicken (no pork), coconut milk depending, and other things that you should already have at home like salt and oil. Rendang, butter chicken ( i don't think it actually has any butter.....), yogurt curry, panang (i think that's what it's called...), laksa (soupy spicy, filled with noodles it's own class of "curry" not really traditional curry), kare look for names like that. |
There's a box of imported white chocolate in the cupboard. That should last for about two weeks tops.

Late night + Dorm = Vending machine food. ;__;
I seem to go through a lot of Cheese-Its and Pop-Tarts in the wee hours of the morning. Though I don't imagine eating that kind of junk all the time (at any point of the day) is going to be healthy for me. Even with the 7 vitamins and minerals... |
Chicken Pakora, it's like the offical midnight snack of Scotland, that orgionated in India.

Shiiiit, iono i've never even been to winnipeg before. just google it or something. Closest ive been to winnipeg is edminton..... |
I see. Well, you don't know what you are missing.;) I will see what I can find. Winnipeg can be pretty diverse. Mmm.... Curry.
|
i guess it all depends what we've got in the fridge or the cupboards. lol. :P
usually it's leftovers, popcorn, chips, cookies, chocolate bars, or peanut butter & jelly sandwich with a glass of milk. of course, it ends up being another meal after dinner. LOL. jeez..i'm getting hungry now.... |
I love to eat those little pizza nugget things while watching TV before bed.
|
Since being in college, I have seen easy mac in a new light. It's super easy to make, and I barely have to leave the room. I also like ramen, but who doesn't. Easiest food ever to make.
|
Usually, I just use the leftovers that were for supper the previous night . . . So I basically have two suppers . . . although I go after the regular junk food if it's there. Chips are great but I hate the greasy feel late at night . . .
|
I like to have chips and salsa, or if I'm in the mood for sweets, maybe some cookies or ice cream.
|
Cereal. Works in the morning, works in the night. :D

I agree with the icecream. Two scoops of smooth vanilla and I'm set for the night. =) |

I might have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, too. |
Ice cream or maybe a bowl of my favorite cereal. That seems to always work for me.
