T-Shirts. Whatcha Got?

We all have T-Shirts right? (If you don't please tell us)

What do some of your shirts say? Something interesting? Not offensive? Just plain cool or a nice catch phrase?

I have a Back to the Fifties Shirt from Minneapolis, MN from 2005 and 2006. They are very catchy.

I have three University One Orientation shirts - 2004 is Blue, 2005 is golden, and 2006 is green. My favorite is the 2005 one. I hope to get a t-shirt next year as well. I also have a Borderland Racing Association Volunteer shirt, Two UMSU volunteer shirts. I also have a bunch of solid coloured shirts.

Do you think T-Shirts should have something on it? What is your stance on slogans etc., on T-Shirts? Do you wear T-Shirts often? Any other comments?

riggermortis Oct 27, 2006 10:52 PM

I hate the shirts that endorse sluttiness in girls -_- like "look at me melons!" written in cheap glittery writing, and the sudden trend from around year 2000 onward of "clever" shirts like "here's a chord, here's another, and another... now go and form a band" they just REALLY irritate me with their weak attempts at observational/clever humour.

Anyway...

I have a green mario shirt with a 1-up mushroom on the front and a zelda shirt which I love.

I also have a metallica tshirt which is 1 of 100 ever made, it was won in a competition when Load was released.

cubed Oct 27, 2006 10:54 PM

I have a t-shirt with the evolution of man, from the apes to the arcade player.

INSERT COIN.

RABicle Oct 27, 2006 10:54 PM

eat money?
Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat money.

"Everyone is a soldier" written in Mandarin

Othewise I mostly have band shirts, my favorite of which has "Fuck Regurgitator, let's smoke crack!" written on it.

I feel t-shirts reaally say more about an individual than we'd like to beleive. When it comes to writing of any sort, be it a logo or slogan, you are essentially endorsing that by wearing it and identifying yourself with it. What's more you PAYED to endorse this, not the other way round.

Chaotic Oct 28, 2006 01:06 AM

So far I have:

1. On Back: Quit Following Me ; On Front: STOP IT!

2. Rub my belly for good luck!

3. I am in shape. Round is a shape.

That's all I have at the moment.

HostileCreation Oct 28, 2006 02:03 AM

I have several t-shirts. They don't have clever sayings on them, because I hate the vast majority of those shirts.

My two favorite? My dinosaur shirt, which is white and covered with very detailed drawings of dinosaurs (colored green), and my anatomy shirt, which is a tight, tan shirt that has most human organs and major arteries emblazoned on the front, approximately where they would actually be in one's body.

J-Man Oct 28, 2006 02:23 AM

I have the following notable T shirts:

Rock out with your cock out

Dragonforce Valley of the Damned and Inhuman Rampage

Two Mario ones, the Bonus and the You LOSE ones

A J-Man shirt (love it, had nothing to do with GFF)

This sweet Alice Cooper Haloween Tour shirt and,

A cool Deep Purple one from their tour.

guyinrubbersuit Oct 28, 2006 01:18 PM

I have mostly band shirts, but I also have quite a few game related shirts as well.

Band Shirts

Tool - One has the logo in front and the wrench on the back which looks like a penis. I have another one that is white and has some of the typical Tool graphics on the back.

Nile - This is for In Their Darkened Shrines album. I got it on the first Blackest of Black tour.

At The Gates - Slaughter of the Soul album shirt. Got it at Metal Devastation.

God Forbid - Got this a few years ago when Gone Forever first came out. The shirt is for the Better Days EP.

Death - Has the Death logo on it, but it's starting to fade. I need another one.

Lamb of God - Has the LOG logo with two M-16s on front. I got it for 5 bucks at Gigantour.

Opeth - Has the Opeth logo in red on the front with the pictures of the bands members as well.

Shadows Fall - It's a long sleeve for the War Within album.

Emperor - In The Nightside Eclipse long sleeve album, which is my absolute favorite.

Pantera - It has a skeleton holding a revolver in both hands, smoking a joint and a bottle of Jack Daniels in his holster.

All That Remains - Fall of Ideals shirt. I got it when I preordered Fall of Ideals

3 Inches of Blood - I got it for 8 bucks at Hot Topic.

Video Game Shirts

Soul Calibur II - I have two of them. They both have the Namco logo on the left breast and I have Ivy and Voldo on the back.

Super Mario Bros. - I have a grey shirt that has Mario and Luigi running away from a Bob-Omb.

Final Fantasy X - I have a FFX that has a summon on the front. Unfortunately it's really big for me.

Zelda - I have a Zelda shirt that I got from preordering Mega Man anniversary collection for the GCN. It has the 8-bit Link on the front holding up his sword.

Mario Kart Double Dash - It has nothing on the front, but has a small graphic of the game on the back.

Warioware Inc. - It is blue and has Wario on the front saying "I"ve got more swag than you."

Metroid Prime - It's a olive green shirt that has Samus' name on the front and a slogon about bounty hunters on the back. I think I got it when I preordered Metroid Prime 2.

PKO Oct 28, 2006 01:26 PM

My cousin bought me a T-shirt that says, "Male Escort Service" . . . yeah, I've definitely only worn it once; for one thing I don't like T-shirts that have things to read on them and the shirt is just plain embarassing to wear.

kat Oct 28, 2006 03:17 PM

I have tons of t-shirts but my two favorites ones are this green one with elephants and an old shirt from 3rd grade. The green shirt has yellow elephants all over with a single yellow elephant and while it's ridiculously misshapen after years of use, I still wear it, awkward as it is.

I also have a bright yellow t-shirt from my childhood, when I was on a youth basketball team called The Arcadia Optimists. It's hilarious and it's the perfect size for a girl's t-shirt, I actually recall it coming down to my knees back when I first got it.

I don't wear t-shirts that much simply because it's not my "style" anymore but there's nothing like a good t-shirt.

Paco Oct 28, 2006 03:39 PM

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...EstarGuars.jpg

I printed 10 of these to wear to the Star Wars: Episode III premiere and only like 6 of my friends took one. I had 4 leftover and I can't find them anymore and I kind of feel bad because a few people here were promised a cheesy Spanish slang t-shirt and never got it. :(

Ayos Oct 28, 2006 04:15 PM

I've got some gaming ones. One white tee with the Xbox logo. One white tee with the Xbox 360 logo. One black tee with the Halo 2 logo on front, and on back it says "Go Earth. 11.09.04"

I have a couple Boondock Saints t-shirts, one longsleeved with "Thy Will Be Done" on the back and "Veritas/Aequitas" on the sleeves, and one shortsleeved with the brothers' prayer on the back and a rosary on the front.

I also have a few with dumb sayings, like "Come on over to my space" and "Yes I have been working out" but I'd have to say my favorite ones are those I got from T-Shirt Hell... seems the link to the second one isn't working though.

"To: Women
From: God"
http://www.tshirthell.com/store/prod...?productid=318

"I (Heart) Transitive Pictograph Verbalizations"
http://www.tshirthell.com/store/prod...?productid=647

PLUS, tons of Linkin Park and Evanescence t-shirts. I'm on the street teams, must represent.

Paco Oct 28, 2006 05:18 PM

I also have this shirt:

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...rootsshirt.jpg

and I'm going to be printing a few of these in the future:

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...irollshirt.jpg

Greeder Oct 28, 2006 06:05 PM

I got a few T-shirts that I bought on my first tripp to N.Y.

Three T-shirts being Black with the texts 'Lick them and they will come.' and 'Can't sleep... Clowns will eat me... Can't sleep... Clowns will eat me'-over and over again.

And the third: http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts/fru...ons/5aa9/zoom/

Other than that it's just plain T-shirts.

cento Oct 28, 2006 06:33 PM

I usually like plain t-shirts more than ones with something on them... but I have this one shirt that says "I'm not as think as you drunk I am" in blurry text... I wore it once when I went out with me friends... everyone thought it was pretty funny.

mindOverMatter Oct 28, 2006 06:41 PM

I've seen many funny T-shirts, with funny phrases. My friend has one that says on the front: "to learn how to keep an idiot busy, look behind" and on the back it says "to learn how to keep an idiot busy, look on front"

Blanka Oct 28, 2006 07:04 PM

I have a Rocky T-shirt..

And a Mario one. But Rocky is my total favorite. =]

I need to buy more...

Celes Chere Oct 28, 2006 07:24 PM

I have quite a few t-shirts, but my favorites are the Clockwork Orange one (the front has silhouettes of the 4 droogs and the first paragraph of the novel, and the back says something to the like of 'the story of a young man whose principal interests are beethoven, rape, and ultraviolence') my Kraftwerk shirt, and my Rammstein shirt. I wore the latter one quite a few times when I first got it.

Aside from those I have some Hello Kitty and Sailor Moon shirts. XD

I react against this. I don't like projecting my brain in little bitesize pieces in the form of banners or slogans which, in the end, reveal nothing. It's like whoring out parts of your mind indiscriminately, like you're some sort of advertisement for yourself. I extend my feelings not only to clothes - wearing solid colours only - but also to other things, like my room walls; I don't use posters or shit like that.

I plan to display how my clothing isn't intended to say anything about me, by taking pictures of these bare walls, and then having them transferred onto my t-shirts.

- Berserk t-shirt.
- Nintendo - down to the player T-shirt
- Fullmetal alchemist t-shirt
- And here's the winner ...... FINAL FANTSY DEAR FRIENDS CONCERT T-SHIRT baby.

Nahual Oct 28, 2006 09:06 PM

Most of my t-shirts don't have anything on them. They're all solid colors. I do have a few that say, "La hoja de coca no es droga," with Bolivia right underneath. Then I have different shirts that say, France, Germany, Mexico. Yup.

Try this one on for size:

"Más vale ser un borracho conocido que un alcohólico anónimo."

Is that a real shirt? That's not a real shirt, is it? I'd buy it.

Paco Oct 29, 2006 03:02 AM

It wasn't a real shirt until I made it. :p

JammerLea Oct 29, 2006 04:33 AM

Most of my shirt wardrobe is t-shirts... It's mostly stuff with pictures though, not sayings. Some anime/game stuff, animals, cartoons... ohh, I love "it's happy bunny" stuff, but I've only got one t-shirt from that property. Got some shirts from volunteering at the local art fair over the years... though now they're giving us volunteers neon colored shirts so we're easy to spot. Gah.

If you have a similar shirt that says ¡MOJADOS! with Mexicans and a cactus instead of a rainbow I'll love you forever.

I can't stand those!!! I seen a few 14 year old girls wearing shit like "Sex Kitten"

I have some shirts, but the best one I have is one with Bubbles from the Trailer Park Boys with two cats next to him and the quote "A dope trailer is no place for a kitty"

my friend got a cool one that says "3 out of 2 people has a problem with fractions"

nanashiusako Nov 2, 2006 08:00 PM

I wear a lot of t-shirts, but none of them have any real meaning. Most of them are just free shirts that my hubby got before we met. He has some with his college name on them, and credit card slogans, and junk like that. I wear them around the house, mostly.

When going out, I prefer shirts with nothing written on them, but I only have a few of those.

Hydra Nov 2, 2006 08:34 PM

I have a "usr/bin/girl" shirt and a "chix0r" shirt from thinkgeek. Other than that, I only have my John Deere grounds department shirts for the college I work for, and solid colours.

DJ Gear Nov 2, 2006 09:53 PM

A have a wide variety of t-shirts, since that's all I really wear. I've been losing a lot of weight, so my style is getting better, but until recently I either wear a t-shirt or, when it's cold, a t-shirt with a long-sleeved shirt beneath it.

Nerdy:

"Viva Miyamoto" from Thinkgeek.com
"Halo 2" logo shirt, got it waiting in line for Halo 2.
"Metroid Prime" shirt from pre-ordering MP.

Anime-themed:

Dragonball Zx3- yep, I'm a DB nerd.

Japan-themed (all from J-list):

"Gaijin" shirt. Shirt with the Kanji for Gaijin.
"Emergency Exit" shirt. Shows the Japanese emergency exit sign.
"Domo-kun" shirt. Brown with a huge Domo-kun face on it.
"It is forbidden to commit Seppuku". Front has various frowned-upon practices (sleeping with your head facing north, chopsticks straight up in the bowl, shoes on inside), the back has a huge picture of a guy impaling himself with a sword, stick figure of course.

Other:

Linkin Park underground shirt
Another LP shirt

I feel like I'm forgetting some, but anyway. That's them.

knkwzrd Nov 2, 2006 10:00 PM

Hell, I probably have about 30 or 40 band t-shirts lying around.

Craze Nov 2, 2006 10:01 PM

Most of my T-shirts don't have writings on them...just pictures. I have one that has 'Get Out of my Life' that I quite like though.

zergkiller Nov 4, 2006 06:05 AM

i've got a shirt with chinese characters says "fei ni bu ke" a joking way of saying you are the best

=+Yuni+= Nov 4, 2006 12:32 PM

I have lots of t-shirts with things on them. From pictures of Alice in Wonderland characters to a Sex Pistols God Save the Queen shirt.

I think the shirt that I wear the most is the one that says "I am Samus" on it haha.

Arkhangelsk Nov 4, 2006 01:09 PM

I get shit from some of my female friends because they want me to dress girly. But like I told my roommate, I love nifty T-shirts like most girls love shoes (including my roomie, who has boxes and boxes of shoes). That said, I have a few very nifty ones, like a Tommy Hilfiger (ugh...normally don't like him) shirt that has a rampant lion on it, but the entire shirt is bisected so it's two different-colored shirts stitched together.

For witty comments, I have one that says "Bayou Bob's Gator Giggin' and Artificial Limb Sales -- 10% discount on first lost limb" :p.

iokcs Nov 5, 2006 07:40 AM

I usually wear normal shirts with plenty of design
and little room for logos words, text... etc...
my fav. shirts right now are from
OWL MOVEMENT
and i have this really old deftones shirt i love too... <.<'
yea i dont have a lot of clothes...lol
i only buy chlothes when something jumps out at me and says
"Buy Me!~"

owl movement ex.

im actually wearing that right now hehe...

Servilonus Nov 5, 2006 01:22 PM

Probably about 95% of my shirts are t-shirts. In high school, they were mostly various black band shirts, but those shirts don't so much fit me now, so most of my shirts are just various plain colored shirts now, nice and cheap. Other than that, I still have random band shirts that I bought recently from Target after work or whatnot (Beatles, Hendrix, Rolling Stones - the stuff that you find in department stores ALL the time) Then I've got a Clerks shirt, and a shirt from objective ministries.

My friend has a few from them as well -

Another shirt I wear a lot is my Call of Duty 2 pre-order shirt. I didn't pre-order it however, I just know the manager and I happen to like the shirt's color a lot. The first time I wore it at this school I got like a million comments on it, which was awkward considering I had never played it. I wish I had more money to buy more shirts though, I always like their existence as a conversation piece. Celes's comment made me go looking online for a Clockwork Orange shirt, but it's not as if I could afford one anyhow.

Bernard Black Nov 5, 2006 08:38 PM

I don't have witty ones, but I do have the following:

-Mighty Boosh Live tour (black)
-M*A*S*H Suicide is Painless (khaki)
-NIN's With Teeth (black) and one from the tour (Red/pink)
-Jackass the Movie (black)
-Crash Bandicoot (green)
-An adorable wolf ^_^ (black)

My brother has one I envy; it's kind of hard to describe but it says "everything I know I learned from videogames" and then a picture of a mushroom, a flask, a coin and a pixel women in a bikini. A friend of mine also had one with mario getting a 1up on peachy, and it said "I scored with the princess".

I did have a red one saying "Warning - Next mood swing... 3 minutes" just as they kicked in though but it doesn't fit anymore.

Inhert Nov 5, 2006 08:48 PM

well most my t-shirt are one color with nothing on it (but I use some flashy color XD)

but I have 2 t-shirt that get a lot of attention and those are the two:

http://store.valvesoftware.com/img/p...HL2DMShirt.jpg

http://store.valvesoftware.com/img/p...odD0gShirt.jpg

they are from Half-life 2. I really like the first one XD and a lot of people stop me at school to say that they like my shirt and find it pretty funny XD (and lol I'm wearing it now XD)

Aquas Nov 10, 2006 12:45 PM

Most of my shirts are just a base color with nothing else on them. Except for these shirts my mother gets from the Native Indian Children's Fund, they are pretty cool. One of them is a picture of a wolf. It's sweet, and people mention it a lot, and then are confounded by the text that reads "Native Indian Children's Fund," Hahaha. The other one ... lets see well I think it's a mountain range or something. Equally cool.

I got this dark blue long sleeved shirt from a thrift store with 4 white square-outlines on the chest of it. A strange design to see without any designer's name all over it, I think. It's a little big for me, but I like to wear it.

I also own a The Faint shirt, and a couple Bright Eyes shirts, which I don't wear too often anymore. Some of my buddies bought me a shirt from Hot Topic that says "Don't make me go Zelda on you" that one is funny, I usually wear it to gaming events I go to with my friends. It's got a pseudo picture of the oval menu from Zelda 1 with various items from the game in it, like the red potion, wooden sword, master sword, the raft. Haha. It's pretty sweet. Thanks friends!

Most of my Ts are solid dark earth tones, but I do have a few vintage-style screen Ts:

http://www.sevenbits.net/imgbank2/t-1.jpg
http://www.sevenbits.net/imgbank2/t-2.jpghttp://www.sevenbits.net/imgbank2/t-3.jpg

(as examples)

I want to head down to Wal-Mart and see if they have this t-shirt for sale:

http://www.sevenbits.net/imgbank2/Totenkopf.jpg

Some genius decided it would be an awesome idea to take the death's head insignia from the 3 SS Panzergrenadier Totenkopf Division coat of arms, and slap it on a vintage athletic fit T-shirt.

Mikejesmike Nov 16, 2006 01:33 AM

Some of my more interesting T-shirts

Vlad the Impaler
3 Harley Davidson
Orange County Choppers
Motorhead Bastards
Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon
Black Sabbath Vol. 4
Ozzy Osbourne-Ozz Bless America
Kiss-Kiss My Ass
Slayer-Demon
Medusa's skull

I also forgot The Doors

JasonTerminator Nov 16, 2006 01:57 AM

Inhert, those are awesome. Where did you get them?

My selection is basically a few anime ones, a few ones from Threadless, two ones with sharks on them, and two Star Wars ones.

I pretty much wear t-shirts all the time unless I'm at work. I hate most other clothes, as they seem too trendy.

Roan Nov 16, 2006 11:10 AM

I love those earth toned t-shirts! Tshirts rule! If only tshirts are ok in the corporate world. That be so comfortable. Suits suck and not to mention expensive.

angeloftheabyss Jun 2, 2007 10:31 AM

i love t-shirts with witty pictures, catch-phases or both ^_^
one of my fav t-shirts is one that says, "i'm your worse bad habit" ^_~ hehe...i love wearing that around my boyfriends ^_~ hehe..

Krelian Jun 2, 2007 11:07 AM

Two band shirts I have with me here:

Therion - Front design, back design
Ulver shirt:
http://a.photos.cx/PH4974XXL-58b.jpg

Other tees I have kicking around: House of Blues Orlando Blues Brothers design, "Sand Lover" logo spoof of Land Rover logo, ...

I don't actually own many t-shirts. Most of the shirts I wear are collared and semi-formal and nice.

Also, not a t-shirt, but I desire this MUCHLY.

Schadenfreude Jun 2, 2007 11:53 AM

Most of my t-shirts are pretty nondescript, although I do have a nifty one which reads "bomb disposal squad" on the front and has a picture of an exploding toilet on the back. Somewhat immature, perhaps, but I like it.

I also have a t-shirt that reads "I am... yakuza!!!" which I made myself. I put a bit too much fabric paint on when I was making it though and thus there are a few cracks in the paint here and there.

RacinReaver Jun 2, 2007 12:28 PM

Most of my t-shirts were giveaways from various things. Right now I'd guess almost all of them come from things I've volunteered at, places I've worked, or school. I just use them to sleep in since I generally like to wear collared shirts during the day.
