South Park Removed by Youtube (google)

Well guys, it has begun.

The majority of South Park scenes, etc., have been removed from Youtube for copyright infringement. Have you guys seen any other things removed?

Guess we were right that it would be only a matter of time.

What do you guys think of YT now? Personally, I think its good. Its just now you can't find the mainstream stuff anymore.

What do you think or feel about the removal of these shows etc?

ionuk tomb Oct 27, 2006 08:58 PM

I think Cartman said it best as 'fuck-fuckity-fuck-fuck-fuck.' My You-Tube experience has now been sodomized. I'll never see it as pure and untouched again.

scotty Oct 27, 2006 09:02 PM

I don't really care at the moment because I only watch odd obscure stuff that won't be deleted or won't be deleted for awhile because its not mainstream

Tawnee Van Pelt Oct 27, 2006 09:11 PM

South Park episodes are around 30MB, what are you guys bitching about? They are all over the place even with direct downloads.

I also hate the direction YouTube may head, but seeing every minor change as a total faliure won't solve anything.

Watch it while it still lives!! Chinpokomon!!
"I got to buy it! I got to buy it! Chinpokomon!"

on another note:
Youtube even started to remove clips from TV variety shows in Japan.
Those bastards!

Is everyone going to hate youtube now because of capitalist america taking it over? Its not like it didn't remove videos for copyright stuff before.

The Wise Vivi Oct 28, 2006 03:09 PM

Yeah, that may be true. But its happening at a much broader and quicker scale. I liked it when they were slower to respond.

riggermortis Oct 28, 2006 03:23 PM

We'll all just have to use DailyMotion instead, I knew this would happen, looks like just home made movies on youtube from now on =(... I hope they don't remove hardgay >_>

Lucas-AMN Oct 28, 2006 03:23 PM

Hell, we all knew it would happen. They want to make deals with the record industry to show mainstream content like music videos and clips from CBS shows to promote television viewing. It's only a matter of time before they claim some kind of ownership of any content posted so that if/when a major star were to come about after gaining fame from YouTube, they could claim partial ownership of their music/production, and reap in the profits.

They're also deleting all the Cartoon Network stuff, and just about anything they find that has a copyright at an alarming rate. Most of my favorites list disappeared overnight. I'm pretty much done with YouTube.

Go here instead...

You obviously have no grasp of how business law works.

As for South Park being removed - why is anyone surprised? Torrents, P2P services are considered "stealing", so why would YouTube be any different? If you're dumb enough to walk out in traffic, you deserve to be run over - similarly, if you're dumb enough to steal copyrighted material, you deserve to be caught.

Stop being stupid.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Oct 28, 2006 03:32 PM

Don't post that you uploaded anything there, either. LeHah might up and report you!

Misogynyst Gynecologist Oct 28, 2006 10:47 PM

Don't say anything stupid, Capo. Someone might call you out ...

Shit, wait.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Oct 28, 2006 11:18 PM

You're hardly one to talk when your comeback consists of nothing more than calling me stupid. Good job.

See, my real problem with what you did is that you still have this entire "holier than thou" attittude about file sharing. We get it. You actually buy music. Big fucking deal. That's no reason to look down on those who do not.

Except when I called myself stupid just then.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Oct 28, 2006 11:40 PM

Ah. I was under the impression that you were implying that others had already "called me out" on the fact that I was not too intelligent. The rest of my point still stands, though.

Elixir Oct 28, 2006 11:51 PM

It's pretty weak when you have people having their videos removed after they've been their for a period of months prior to this whole copyright issue was raised about youtube and what should and what shouldn't be displayed there.

I'm going to thoroughly enjoy watching all of the Naruto episodes being deleted, whether they're official or fan made.

This doesn't happen nearly half as much as it should.

Cal Oct 28, 2006 11:55 PM

Youtube could do with you two filming yourselves flaming one another.

You dumbshit, maybe it's because youtube offered episodes to view WITHOUT having to actually save the shit to your hard drive. Not everybody has thousands of gigs of available space.

Zip Oct 29, 2006 10:55 AM

the deletion of the those crazy Japanese shows is the worst part :(

The Wise Vivi Oct 29, 2006 12:53 PM

Yeah, the Japanese shows were awesome!

S_K Oct 29, 2006 12:56 PM

Kinda funny really, the free speech that made youtube so great in the first place and was probably why google bought it is going to vanish. At this rate it's going to end up like google video only with a lot more "LOLZ LOOK AT ME!!!!!1 I HAVE A WEBCAM!!!" videos XD

Chibi Neko Oct 29, 2006 01:32 PM

I am not suprised by all the stuff that is taken down so far... after the youtube purchase, a Japanese company sued them because they now know that rich folks at google now owns them.

easy money

Chao_Zero Oct 29, 2006 01:50 PM

Meh, all my AMVs were deleted after they were up for about 7 months.
It's becoming increasingly difficult to find anything interesting to watch on Youtube nowadays.
Yay for capitalism. -_-

*AkirA* Oct 29, 2006 02:48 PM

So how long before I have to subscribe to youtube for a monthly fee?

xiaowei Oct 29, 2006 08:59 PM

Google Video sells South Park episodes. Does it not make sense since Google own Youtube?

CryHavoc Oct 29, 2006 09:04 PM

Well google is a profit based company but 'Stupid' is one thing they aren't.
The copyright stuff is to avoid getting sued for leniance, people tend to hunt for lawsuit cash much more when there're big, rich corporations involved. Google is just trying to stay "in the safe".
They still suck for south park, tho.

Maico Oct 29, 2006 09:08 PM

Not sure how official this statement is, but at least the creators don't care about all this copyright mumbo jumbo: http://www.southparkstudios.com/show...32&search_faq=
Quote:

Q. - I was surprised that in the last FAQ you recommended downloading episodes on KaZaa and other file sharers. What are Matt and Trey's official stances on South Park episode piracy?

A. - Matt and Trey do not mind when fans download their episodes off the Internet; they feel that it’s good when people watch the show no matter how they do it.
I couldn't agree more. They're not worried about buying another solid gold Humvee, just getting their message out.

What message? That they probably get off on their own hilarity?

They encourage (or at least don't care about) illegal downloads since it helps build their fanbase. South Park is on cable, they reach a smaller audience so the internet helps broaden it. And the hope is eventually this audience will support them by buying their DVDs or something, which brings the profit margain back around.

But that's not to say the company who owns Comedy Central or South Park don't care about copyright infringement, they're the ones who make these calls, not the creative team, ie: Trey and Matt. Although if this ends up a big thing, they'll probably parody themselves on their own show.

unknown_user Oct 30, 2006 03:30 AM

www.allsp.com has every south park episode and they justify how its legal.

CryHavoc Oct 30, 2006 05:09 AM

That's a fuckin' awesome site there mate. Many thanks !

Shenlon Oct 30, 2006 08:07 PM

just how many south park clips were there on youtube, I get over 6000 results when I do a search :/

S_K Oct 30, 2006 08:09 PM

that's probably a combination of south park amvs, fanart slideshows, clips from episodes they like and my personal favorite south park audio used on other cartoons... >.>

Summonmaster Oct 30, 2006 08:13 PM

Oh, South Park was on Youtube. Well the boxsets were also out for a quite a while, so I figure it would only be matter of time after the silly acquisition. As long as they don't take down the Daria episodes (no boxset or availability!), then I'm ecstatic.

Videos on Youtube have been randomly disappearing beforehand though. Try finding any good old JRock like the treasure trove of Go! Go! 7188 or Shiina Ringo that was there last year. All GONE.

Musharraf Oct 31, 2006 02:24 AM

This is ridiculous, Youtube is beginning to suck. I mean, it is possible to watch stuff like Jon Stewart and High Stakes Poker on Youtube and they are making a fuss about South Park. Whatever, I guess.

Who knows if it is accurate, but to me it makes some sense. ;)
