SUMOMOMO MOMOMO - The Strongest Bride on Earth

http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/365...p153122di3.png

This is the new Lantis / Hibari Anime-Series "Sumomomomomomo"
It's a comedy, romance and probably a bit martial arts and ecchi anime and about the story between Koushi Inuzuka and Momoko Kuzuryu.

MOMOKO

http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/343...p153252eu9.png

Momoko is a cute young girl from the outskirts of Japan's big cities.
She lives alone with her father (Sendayu Kuzuryu, a legendary fighter) and trains with him on her martial arts -
One day, her father tells her how she could finally master the family's ultimate technique - She has to marry the strongest fighter and produce the strongest offspring.
http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/5427/sumomo2fs8.jpg
That was the day, when Momoko decided to look for a proper husband -
And she found: -

Koushi !

http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/949...p153452tt2.png

Koushi is the son of Momoko's father's best friend and rival Unken Inuzuka.
Unlike his father - another martial-arts fighter - Koushi is a smart young man, whose answer isn't just "violence" but THE LAW -
Yes - you're right - Koushi is not interested in fighting with fists - he wants to fight criminals with paragraphs -
He gave up martial-arts and wants now to become a prosecutor after finishing school!

http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/3029/sumomo1zt9.jpg

His father isn't pleased - he tries everyday to convince his son to come back to the family tradition and martial-arts - unsuccessfully

But suddenly Momoko appears in front of the Inuzuka-Residence and asks for the father's approval for her making babies with Koushi -

http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/2295/sumomo3du6.jpg

The father grants the wish of Momoko - but why?
Can Koushi and Momoko live in peace together now?
You'll probably find out in the first episode!

My opinion after watching the first episode:

It's quite funny - And I guess, it's a pretty nice plot which is given in this anime-piece.
After that catchy opening-song is all you can do: smile and laugh - ;)
And hell yeah - i just love Momokos voice XD

edit: found the opening song on YouTube : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nA29CxkJhDc

This looks rather interesting to watch. I'll get around to downloading the torrents when I get home. I hope there's alot of fighting in this one since it's revolving around a girl whose father fights.

Memnoch Oct 17, 2006 01:32 PM

Looks cool ,gonna check it out. Thx!

Casaubon Oct 17, 2006 03:16 PM

Eh, this is just some loli anime with some wierd fanservice that should have been left out. The action sucks and it's "comedy" is truly very un-funny. The CG dragons are also horrible.

Conan-the-3rd Oct 19, 2006 03:52 PM

I loled right though the first episode, it was a double barreled shotgun of laughs.

And the CG Dragons, I took them to be a pun to be honest...

Finaly, who else thinks of Bobobobo bo bobobo with that title?

Pretty sure you don't even know what pun means. Great job.

The comedy sucked, it was the same joke throughout the whole damn episode. "SLEEP WITH ME KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO! KOUSHI-DONO!"

Conan-the-3rd Oct 20, 2006 01:45 AM

Dun you remember Fate/Stay Night? With the cg dragons and all? Yeah, that's where I think the pun makes it refrence to.

and meh, I got a laugh out of it, it's not to everyone's taste.

FatsDomino Oct 20, 2006 06:48 AM

Guh, Conan...

Look, this show is based on an actual manga where the moves are these aura attacks like the dragon and wolf you saw in episode one. The only reason I can understand you thinking they're gags or something retarded like that is that the CG looks so out of place and unnatural mixed with the rest of 2d show.

I really wish animators would stop using CG as an easy way out. Mar suffers from the same thing although its CG models are actually pretty damn good. They just look really out of place because they use so many more frames per sec making the actual anime characters look choppy when mixed in movement.

Bigblah Oct 20, 2006 06:51 AM

I don't think I'll be following this show (been burnt out on Final Approach), but god damn that is one awesome first post, slayer.

FatsDomino Oct 20, 2006 07:43 AM

Oh god Final Approach. Half of my name's results on google image search are images I hosted for its thread. Guh.

Kesubei Oct 20, 2006 01:57 PM

After wathcing the first episode, I've decided to follow it for a while. It's far from ground-breaking, and I wouldn't call it hilarious,. In fact, I can see the jokes getting tired very quickly. Still, it's enjoyable, shallow and not ambitious, so I'll give it a shot.

Conan-the-3rd Oct 20, 2006 04:03 PM

I concede that point, I just added 2+2 = 5 what with the sex talk and the dragons and what not.

Speaking of which, a "Limit Break" attack with cloured orbs...yeah...lol, refrence gotten.

FatsDomino Oct 20, 2006 06:00 PM

I think you're just putting WAY too much thought (absurd thought) into a very simple anime. If you want an anime that has tons of references that go over your head every 5 seconds then go watch Pani Poni Dash.

HazelGuy Oct 21, 2006 07:57 AM

I like it, its a simple straight foward show thats entertaining enough to keep watching and funny as hell at times. A lot like Zero's Familiar.

Also, the second episode is made from win and awesome.

slayer25k Oct 29, 2006 11:40 AM

Episodes 3 and 4 are out - Links can be found in the first post -

LuPerry released both episodes yesterday.

After watching 3 and 4 - All I can say is: It's getting quite interesting ;)
And I'm pretty much excited of what is going to happen in the next episode - - :D *laugh*

Sin Ansem Oct 29, 2006 05:21 PM

I watched it.

WOW, THE CRACK. GREAT SHIT/10

And Iroha is love. Mainly because she reminds me of Negima's Sakurazaki when she was badass.

Kesubei Oct 30, 2006 04:41 PM

Episode four was pretty funny, but it also a bit ominous. I didn't think it was going to become a harem show, to be honest (maybe I should have?).

Iroha is cute, though. Also, I want to see more Nakajima Sanae (Hirano Aya)!

Hajiki Nov 17, 2006 02:42 AM

I don't understand why that thickheaded, dumb-ass Koishi doesn't even to so much as recognize Momoko after saving him that crazed polar bear group of thugs that were about to kick his ass? Has that ever crossed your minds after watching some of these episodes?

lemonmanko Nov 17, 2006 02:59 AM

loving this show
forgot what episode it was but i laughed my ass off when momoko told koshi that she'll rock him senseless" XD
good shit and the opening song is really funny done i want a mp3 of it

i just don't like momoko's hair cut its :X

It's because Momoko, in Koushi's mind, is a freak who could totally destroy him if she felt like it.

Amayirot Akago Dec 2, 2006 04:07 PM

Been following this one for a while. While indeed it's nothing groundbreaking, it is quite entertaining.

Spoiler:
Momoko serving herself as dinner = win, as are the Engrish attack names.

Also, great to see a fellow Popotan fan :D

slayer25k Dec 3, 2006 08:09 AM

Episode 7 is finally out ;)

Wow - this episode took 2 weeks for editing and translating Oo;
Is that long or is it just my bad sense of time?

Well... I've just inserted the links into the first post ;)

CHARGE! AUF IN DEN SCHMERZ!

Don't get angry but.. I've just added you to my buddy list XD

Sin Ansem Dec 4, 2006 06:28 PM

I find it endlessly amusing that GAMEFAQS of all places decided to put out an episode (8). They aim to beat LuPerry to the punch with episode 9.

Sakabadger Dec 4, 2006 08:36 PM

KOUSHI-DONO
KOUSHI-DONO
KOUSHI-DONO
KOUSHI-DONO
KOUSHI-DONO
KOUSHI-DONO
KOUSHI-DONO
KOUSHI-DONO
KOUSHI-DONO

Yeah the series started off with somewhat weak humor, but with each episode it's been getting better. I'm glad they're finally introducing the other characters (Iroha and HORSE KAMEN), since Momoko isn't quite enough to keep things moving by herself.

please spare me from having my world rocked!

i found this funny too till i saw the fansub...not bad not bad at all
just didn't like how they flamed(maybe kidding) Luperry during the 2nd half of the show

change that fansubbing name and i would happily switch to them for my future Sumomomomomomo episodes

Sin Ansem Dec 6, 2006 08:37 AM

They successfully put out 9 (although the link is lost to me).

It looks like GFaqs is going to focus on forgotten/incredibly slow series.

Vexe Dec 6, 2006 11:15 AM

Which part of GameFAQs is actually the one subbing Sumomo? LUE, RI or CE? >_>

Sin Ansem Dec 6, 2006 11:46 PM

All those are incorrect sir!

Anime/Manga Other Titles made that.

Vexe Dec 10, 2006 03:06 PM

Aw, but I guess the sub would've been much more screwed up, if it was LUE's work...>_>

Anyways, this anime started kind of lame, but it's rather enjoyable by now. I hope they keep it up and make more hilarious scenes like...

Spoiler:
...when Momoko intentionally spills her ice cream on her head and tells Koushi "Ice Cream ga..." with an amazingly miserable voice.

actually i agree with this also
i really hate when CG and anime combine i guess nobody else hates it cause they keep doing it.

been awhile since a new episode came out did the series take a break in japan or what?

zzeroparticle Mar 22, 2007 11:58 PM

Having finished Kanon (2006), I'm finding myself without a really decent show to watch aside from Nodame Cantabile. Given some of the comments above, the show looks to be somewhat decent after slogging through a few of the early episodes.

So the question is this: is it worth a watch or will I just be wasting my time like I did with Final Approach? Is Iroha really that full of win and awesome? Inquiring minds wish to know.

Thanks.

Kesubei Mar 23, 2007 07:56 AM

I can't really tell you that it's worth to watch unless I know your preferences.

Sumomo is a pretty mindless comedy/ harem that never really changes its tone, so if you liked the first few episodes you'll probably enjoy the rest.

zzeroparticle Mar 23, 2007 11:19 AM

Well, I could barely stomach Zero no Tsukaima and I watched 7 episodes of Manabi Straight! before deciding that it wasn't worth my time.

From your description, I'm going to guess that your recommendation to me would be not to bother with Sumomomo.

Thanks anyway =\

FatsDomino Mar 23, 2007 10:20 PM

It'll probably be awesome if you watch it through a kaleidoscope. =)
