South Park Discussion

I just wanted to start this thread because I havn't even seen one before, despite the show running for over 8 years. Some would say the show has declined in popularity over the years and I would agree, but I still think the episodes are kickass!

Anyway, the second half of the season 10 starts this week, and what better way to start it off than a World of Warcraft parody. It looks awesome, and I found 2 previews on Youtube -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DZ1eLYKk5o
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvswK_M7Qso

It should be an interesting episode I think, it looks like they'll have lots of footage from the game as well which they've never done before.

Anyway, if anyones interested feel free to discuss South Park here, the episodes, seasons, characters etc.

JasonTerminator Oct 2, 2006 12:28 PM

It's on Wednesday, right?

If this conflicts with Lost, I'm watching Lost, so I hope they are smart enough to have it at 10 or something.

Thalin Oct 2, 2006 12:32 PM

10PM, no need to worry :)

SketchTheArtist Oct 2, 2006 07:37 PM

That's awesome!

...not a fan of Warcraft, but still.

Gechmir Oct 2, 2006 07:40 PM

Dahahaha <3 Definitely gotta see it. Saw the trailer yesterday.

Erisu Kimu Oct 2, 2006 08:51 PM

South Park is hilarious. The movie was great too. When I first saw the movie, I was literally in tears laughing (ex. the movie theatre scene).

J-Man Oct 2, 2006 09:58 PM

South Park is the best series ever...EVAR. The satirical stuff is the best in the world simply becuase they go where other shows would probably not think of going.

Thalin Oct 3, 2006 05:04 AM

... And get in trouble doing it. But Matt and Trey don't care :D

chaofan Oct 4, 2006 09:00 AM

South Park still has some great episodes, my personal favourite being the Anime parody (LET'S FIGHTING LOVE!).

IMO I reckon Matt and Trey's knowledge about the popularity of other animated comedies (Family Guy etc.) affected their ability to nail every episode. But still a great series.

The movie was witty. It was excellent.

Vemp Oct 4, 2006 09:16 AM

"SCREW YOU GUYS, I'M GOING HOME!"

Too bad South Park is banned in the Philippines, the only way we get to watch it is through pirated HK dvds. It's so awesome that my sister sings the "Fingerbang" song even though she doesn't know what it means.

Gechmir Oct 4, 2006 04:34 PM

Oh shit, it comes on tonite :'D Fun stuff <3<3

Or maybe she DOES, Vemp! Is she single?

Either way, I am really looking forward to the season premiere not only because I love South Park, but because it's about World of Warcraft, so I am definitely eager to see how they portray the people who play the game (As one), as well as what the story actually entials. So excited!

The Wise Vivi Oct 4, 2006 05:51 PM

Man, this episode looks to be HILARIOUS! I can't wait for tonight!

starslight Oct 4, 2006 05:59 PM

Pumped for this. Serially. One of the few shows that's only gotten better with every season.

Turbo Oct 4, 2006 06:06 PM

For those that don't have comedy central, what are the chances of a torrent popping up after?

The Wise Vivi Oct 4, 2006 06:19 PM

I would say one would be up within a few hours.

Turbo Oct 4, 2006 09:06 PM

I dont know what time its comming on so, if someone would be nice and post when its over, that would be great... Yeah, so I can then go start looking for the torrent.

Shenlon Oct 4, 2006 09:24 PM

I'm watching the newest episode right now. So funny, I can't stop laughing at it.
What are the chances that WoW will get more subscriptions after evryone see's this ^_^

JasonTerminator Oct 4, 2006 09:33 PM

Looks like Blizzard had a hand in making it, so I'm sure it's part of a ploy to get more cash on their end.

I expected more gold thrones encrusted with jewels in their board room though.

IdentikitOfEyes Oct 4, 2006 09:39 PM

Greatest episode ever. I loved every moment of it. The end was fabulous.

Great episode. The fact that they used game footage was even better. Im glad the creators actually know what their talking about when using MMO slang and stuff to that effect.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Oct 4, 2006 10:03 PM

I guess you had to be a WoW nerd to fully appreciate that episode. I found myself constantly asking my brother questions. I still laughed at a lot of the jokes, though. Everytime I saw Cartman I bust out laughing, actually.

JasonTerminator Oct 4, 2006 10:23 PM

Spoiler:
Holy crap, I didn't even recognise Frostmourne!

Is that in the game now, or is it part of The Burning Crusade? I thought for sure it wouldn't be in the game until you could fight Arthas the Lich King.

I dont play WoW, but the game references in general were still hilarious.

Gechmir Oct 4, 2006 10:25 PM

Ironically, I missed it because I was playing WoW... Undead Strat run took horribly long ;__; THREE STITCHINGS DOWN. SEVEN TO GO OLOLOL

Admiral Amara Oct 4, 2006 10:52 PM

Wow, that episode was really funny! Using the in-game footage like that was really well-done - made me think of Red vs. Blue, if RvB were about people playing Halo. Quality machinima. The WoW jokes were all very funny, and as a WoW player myself, I understood all of them. I liked how they seemed to make explicit reference to the Leeroy Jenkins video when they were planning their massive battle against the PKer. Excellent reference humor.

In general, an awesome episode. I loved how the four of them got really fat and pimply. They snuck in, possibly, a different little jab at how the 'industry is ruining our country' when Stan's dad threw the guy out of the car. So good.

Same here. Me and my sister have never played a single Blizzard game, but we were laughing our asses off the whole time nonetheless. It had lots of WoW references (I'm assuming), but most of them seemed broad enough so that even casual gamers could get them.

The Plane Is A Tiger Oct 4, 2006 11:38 PM

I only caught the last 5 minutes or so because I was busy playing LEGO Star Wars II, but it looked hilarious. It was great how they were even using Goldshire's music. I'll have to catch it when they rerun the episode later in the week since I played WoW for about a year.

It isnt in the game, the whole skit in South Park was made just for that episode.

Identity Crisis Oct 5, 2006 12:38 AM

I saw the episode a few minutes ago. I don't play World of Warcraft either, but I thought the entire episode was genius. Every time somebody said internet lingo out loud, it cracked me up!

Greatest Line Ever:
"How do you kill someone that has no life?"

Thalin Oct 5, 2006 08:03 AM

That episode was genius. I loved how they used the in-game footage, but i've no idea how they got everything sync'd to their voices.

Bravo Matt and Trey, bravo.

Gechmir Oct 5, 2006 08:46 AM

Bliz probably helped them out and had some guys doing model tricks and such. Wonderful PR stint (as if they needed it) ;D

JasonTerminator Oct 5, 2006 10:23 AM

Spoiler:
I would have thought that when they stomp the guy's head to a bloody pulp gave away Blizzard's involvement, that and all the damn Blizzard logos in the episode.

Newbie1234 Oct 5, 2006 02:59 PM

Spoiler:
It was an enjoyable episode. Though I thought that the Blizzard product placement was a bit excessive, and their influence may have tamed the episode a bit too much (WoW was shown in a pretty good light, and we didn't have crazy stuff like sex in the game or something). Nevertheless, it's a much watch for any gamer.

Troy-Bagnell Oct 5, 2006 04:18 PM

wah!

how was it shown in a good light? it made it look like WoW turns kids into obese nerds with no lives. if anything I thought it was very negative towards WoW.

Shenlon Oct 5, 2006 09:00 PM

people at dailymotion.com usually get the south park episodes up in a few hours after it airs.
You can see the full new episode here if you've missed the warcraft episode

Ayre Oct 5, 2006 09:47 PM

I loved the Vent talk! :D My girlfriend was cracking up even harder than I was, given she's heard my guildies talking over vent during a dungeon run.

Overall, I think they could've done a lot more with the episode. Maybe Comedy Central can convince Blizzard to do a mini-series of WoW episodes Red vs. Blue style.

The Wise Vivi Oct 6, 2006 12:38 AM

Just finished watching it...

Yep, it was AWESOME! I love the lip-syncing in the WoW. I especially loved the Butters moment... lol LOL . I love Butters, he is my favorite because he is soooo cute and innocent. :D

Yes butters is probably the most normal child but his perents are fucked up, I somehow wish cartman killed them too ^_^

I'd be playing it right now but no. Thanks for getting my hopes up, Butters. :(

There was also Stan's father who did not get obese. Plus all the character animations might trick some people who don't play to think that you can actually do all that in the game.

FatsDomino Oct 6, 2006 03:50 PM

Stan's father didn't get obese because he was one of the many who just didn't play much if at all because of the monster player on the loose so what's your point?

Basically that this episode of South Park will probably help sales of WoW more than it will hurt. I'm sure that people might get curious and give the game a try.

Ha, I do like how I've been seeing these $2 14-Day-Trial discs this last week or so. I definitely wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard helped them with this, to try and spread this game out more to the masses (especially since I've been seeing those discs at Wal-Mart of all places).

Even if they have school, they'll still find a way to play it there too, just like the boys did on the show. In other words, WoW makes you a fat nerd no matter what!

Manny Biggz Oct 7, 2006 01:56 AM

Did anyone else hope that Butters would've pulled a Leeroy Jenkins while Cartman was planning the raid on the PKer?

No, because they were not in UBRS rookery or anywhere that could even resemble a snafu like that. Their levels were piss poor anyway and they would've gotten annihilated regardless of what they did. The PKer wasn't a raid boss where you have to have a MT up there first, as in most situations, so there was nothing to Leeroy.

Zip Oct 8, 2006 12:52 PM

lol n3rd.
I loved the song they used while trying to level, attached it if anyone wants it.
I also looked for a hello kitty game and the only thing i found was this.

Spoiler:
Noob, that isn't Frostmourne. It's some other blade that's currently obtainable in WoW at the moment. But Frostmourne has more of a serpent-like winding blade rather than a straight blade with jaggedy edges.

However, Frostmourne will be released in the upcomming expansion. And players will also be able to wield twin double ended blades (fist weapons)

And for those who don't know what Frostmourne is or does, it's a sword that 'takes to give.' It drains it's wielder of their life while allowing them to wield the blade with incredible damage. Such as Arthas going around killing everything in one hit.

First note. Dont call someone a "noob" if you dont have anything to prove that they are. Just to let you know I have been playing Warcraft since it came out. I have every game, and play them on a monthly basis. I even have WoW speical edition and preordered the special edition of Burning Crusade. I know the whole histroy of Warcraft, oh and I have the Arthas figure on my desk. By the way, his sword looks eactly the same as it does in WoW episode. Interesting that I am the "noob"

Now what I am looking at on the action figure and from what is in this picture. http://guidesmedia.ign.com/guides/12...humanone9l.jpg
Funny how they both seem to have straight blades. It is also just as funny that the arthas figure's sword has the same hilt and runes on it as the one in the show. So odd that they are similar in many ways. So very odd.

Now as for FrostMourne being in the new expansion, thats not going to happen. First off explain how one would obtain the sword if the only one is up in Northrend with Arthas, a place that isnt open to any players in the game. Odd how that would work isnt it, seeing how they are just opening outworld. Now it is true that there are rumors on the next expansion that Northrend will be open and that frostmourne will be a drop, yet as of the moment, it is not in burning crusade.

So shameful that you called someone a noob with no research.

Are you seriously arguing whether or not a fictional sword from a fictional game appeared in a fictional cartoon show that was made to mock people that argue over whether or not a fictional sword from a fictional game appeared in a fictional cartoon show?

Time paradox.

The episode was great. Glad to see them continue off of the absolutely great ninth season. The fat-ass training montage was great, as was the constant jabs at the internet culture. I damn near died when Randy stole the car.

Wow episode of South Park was awesome all the way through. I havent laughed so hard at SP in a very long time. The bit that made me laugh the most was the "And I can even wave at this guy, look..... Hello", really tickled me.

I was an uber FFXI geek up until may this year (75SMN, 75BRD, 75BLM, 75RDM, 68THF and everything else at least 37, Sea cleared and all god armor obtained, and 3 K Clubs on the account on my mules lol) when I finally deleted my account, so I totally get the humor in this episode and it reminded me of me lol.

Oh and Blizzard did have alot to do with the episode, my housemate was telling me that they sponsered the makers of SP and helped them build the episode using special servers. I dont have any factual evidence, just what my housemate said, but im sure someone will find some evidence soon enough.
