update:// Iunno, usually around this time, art forums are flooded with 'Merry Christmas!' type stuff. I never really got into it -shrugs-.
..okay moving on. New stuff on the next page xD; ----- Er yeah. So I'm new, I've been lurking around for a few days, and just started posting today. Ah, just some sketches I've done lately. Sorry for the lack of finished pieces-- I haven't had the motivation to finish anything recently. Bear with me till I get to the point where I can post links/images. Oh, and I like advanced C&C on my works, please & thank you. |

Hello, welcome to The Creator's Cafe. I like your style. Your figure form are pretty well developed. Although you might want to check your characters left hand on the fly-away bat, you can probably use your own hand for reference. Hope to see more finished stuff. :3
|
Ellleeennn... ;_;
Anyway, awesome work~ I really love that Mother and Baby picture. Hoping to see more from you in the future :'D. |
I really like these sketches of yours, they have pleasing proportions and are pretty clean. I am not so much of a sketcher so I can't say anything else beyond the usual and unhelpful "cool/awesome" type comments ^_^. Welcome to TCC.
|
Thank you everyone, I'm actually working on CGing the 'crossguns' picture. I've gotten a few comments on other forums about the hand in 'fly away bat,' and on the lineart I drew on the comp, the hand is fixed. Thanks for pointing it out though.
Haha, familiar faces-- heys to Dai & Justin. @Dai; I actually uploaded the wrong version of that picture. The one I ended up printing out, didn't have the colored sky. Whoops~ Question: Right now, the hair color of the girl in 'Cross Guns' is green. Does anyone have any suggestions of another color. The tone kinda reminds me of some character from an artist I'm not too fond of at the moment, but not sure what else to use. |
How about red? Maybe not bright red. For me, a lot of times what the character's hair color is often is choosen base on their personlity (with exception for blond hair, I am anal like that), although I usually favorites real hair color like brown (-->red), black, and dirty blond.
Another issue is the type of sensiblity that you want to project with this character. For example if you choose light color hair with dark color outfit, it form a contrast, if you choose warm for both out fit and hair, it harmonizes. So it can also depending on the color of that outfit that you chooses. |

Thanks for the suggestion. I just got that so I'll try out different colors later. This is what I have so far:
I was told the contrast in the skin tones need to be increased so I'll work on that later as well. Ugh. So little time so much to do. |
At first glance, the primary light source isn't very obvious. Does it take it a while for you to do each parts? I really like your subtle value changes though.
|
Yeah, I still have problems with finding my light source. I'll try to work on that. I wanted it to be coming from our left. I think I forgot to leave in highlights.
It doesn't take that long for me. I kinda just paint it on... I go with what I feel SHOULD be there. This was maybe....two hours, maybe alittle more. Started around 5:30 and then stopped at 7. There was a period where I stopped for a break. And thanks, this is like my second time coloring something this way. Not yet familar with the body's muscle, etc. |

ALRIGHT. IT'S STARTIN TO GET THERE!
The last version for today, and then I collapse onto my bed. I'm pretty proud of myself that there's SOME sort of background to it. Suggestions? I might just take the easy way out and apply like a grunge texture to it.... ><; |
Looks great. The definition of the right shin bone seems a little strong though, as though it is overly-muscled. It's a very cute picture.
|
I see what you mean, I'll tone it down a bit. Thanks.
|
Wow... you've got some talent there. Keep up the good work! I wanna see more stuff from you =)

@snow_drop; Thanks (lol late reply)
---- Mixed up forum rules, Ultima informed me of the thread thing. So while someone's up to delete that other one v_v; [[my bad]], I'll repost it in here. I'm lame. Seriously, I am. I rarely get inspiration, and when I do, it goes towards a 'thanks for the hits!' kinda piece. = =; Anyway, I'm back from the dead. I have a finished piece. Amazing. Okay, so I was told to work on color tones/choices, etc. My first time using more than two for a section so, be nice? Iunno, bash it all you want. Yeah, I bullshitted the background, but the lag on Photoshop was killing me. C&C as always. |
Wow, the queen of hearts one is really great. Her right arm is a bit curvy but I think that's fine. It adds to the attitude, as well as her lips. Her left index finger looks a bit odd though. It seems more like a pinky than an index.
|

Wah, it really is too short. Thanks. I'll fix it up later.
I've gotten comments about the coloring on other forums so I editted that.. (mostly the arm.) |
Looks pretty good. Did you do an underpainting this time? or did you do the background afterwards? (It looks like you did an underpainting) I'd clean up the pillar behind her. Everything else looks really clean, but the back just looks unfinished. In similar fashion to your other painting, it's difficult to derive a light source. It looks like it's coming from the upper right, but it's only apparent in the highlights on the skin. The dress looks like it's being hit with some general ambient light. you might want to put some more highlights on her scepter as the similar values cause it to get lost in the dress.
Nice job on subtly repeating colors. It looks like you have some of the same colors from her hair in her skin tones to round it out. And it's reading as though you have a touch of that blue in the trim on the corset. Overall it's a cute pic, but I would've gone for more dramatic lighting. |
I wish you had some more photography because that mother and baby is very nice. What kind of camera did you use? I'm currently looking for one for some good quality pics is why I'm asking.
|
it's animu!

....
Ultima, you bastard. I am no where near being an otaku fag. Our school's being overrun with them though. : ( Naru&Shinitard. God save us. And your room/collection is proof of what you used to be. But uh thanks. To that ...second part. @Chie; Aha, I didn't have a good camera at the time so it was simply a digital camera. Err I think its a Canon. I'll post some more photography piece later. @vemp; I don't only draw 'anime', usually my realistic pieces are too big to scan in or stuck in school. I have a few new ones I'm working on that are more realistic than the rest. I'll have it up within the month... Maybe. |
I liked your Hermoine piece though, can you draw me a whole body piece of Hermoine?
And can you show us your realistic pieces, your lines are really good. I like your lines. It makes me.... smile. |
Awesome work I love it all

Thanks.
Realistic pieces... subway portraits are as realistic as I can get at the moment. I have a large self portrait piece in progress that's stuck in school. I'll try to take it home next week. So, let's start with those. I numbered them so it'll be easier to critique. The DJlines & Lookup piece are of course still WIPs. I've been addicted to drawing headphones and beanies recently. I blame headphones on Ultima. Beanies on two other people. I have another sketch in progress of a girl wearing .. wait for it... both a beanie AND headphones. Goddamn. Ref's used for DJline2: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/18889848/ http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/33142273/ Lookup: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/38354104/ edit:// vemp, when I have some time I'll try to work on that sketch for you. Don't usually draw fanart. |
Just character development. Backgrounds were half-assed, though I can't really do much on a 5.5x8.5 sketchbook. I need to do more of that though... (backgrounds). And pictures with more than one person in it xD;
That second picture, should be the doorway of a train. My perspective kinda got screwed so I stopped. I'll try again later. Third might be cover art or something, dunno if something real's gonna happen to it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...iceWaiting.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5.../AliceStop.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...WhiteAlyce.jpg Does anyone else find that their art looks better in sketch form than when it's cleaned up? I usually end up hating my work when I clean it up. :/ |
Quote:
Furthermore, my stuff sucks when I clean it up. If I try to color it? Forget it. Its terrible. I like sketchy stuff too much for my own good. Also, your anatomy is good as always, you know I can't see anything wrong. However, the mouths on the girl have been drawn really dark. Is this a stylistic thing or an accident? It just strikes me as a little weird-looking. |
Thanks, I like the hands in that one~
Lol, coloring something is usually such a long process for me, and I don't have the time lately. When a project drags on too long I lose my inspiration for it. Damn. For the mouth, iunno, I kinda got into drawing it like that. Guess its style? I think if I were to color it, I'd erase the dark cause I like coloring lips. We'll see what happens with this-- My project for club won't be colored so maybe it'll stay. |
haha you're better than Ultima. :ultimaowned:
Anyways, as for sketch vs. cleaned, sometimes or most of the time, I prefer my stuff in sketchy form because I mess up a lot in the inking process. But the downside of leaving my art in sketch-form is that it's too messy. There's a lot of lines and you don't know which lines are supposed to be there and which are the ones who aren't. That's why I'm praciticing proper inking. Or tighter pencils. I don't know if my process applies to your style. Still, :ultimaowned: |
She wasn't before the summer. You see, I was emo and suicidal and she was loser-ish and had freetime and therefore practiced more than I did.
You know what vemp just stfu. :bobofrowny: |
Oh please, don't make excuses Ultima. You drew more than I did and you know it. Plus my freetime was eaten up by the 'emo and suicidal' bastard, constantly raving about said girl. But yeah, earlier this year my stuff was pretty bad. Lol if I can find the old sketchbook, maybe I'll post some pictures, although I don't see the point in it.
@vemp; I know what you mean. I'm trying to do that draw it over thing with a bootleg lightbox trick. So then maybe I can get a clean picture without the inking. Reason I don't like inking is because I draw fast-- and those pens just don't go with fast strokes. I'm gonna go do a redraw of the third piece now, let's see what'll come out of it. |

ENVY. Also: Quote:
Please post more, your art is fantastic; and despite your qualms with coloring, your colored/finished pieces are spectacular. Don't be afraid to finish your stuff =o |
I agree, these last three sketches are fantastic. I love the details, like the tiny teddy hanging from her strap, the spade tattoo and heart designs on her belt...
Thanks for the pics, Aiya! |
I just realized I like how you draw your hands and clothing.
Goddamn art students. |
I really enjoy your sketches. Very detailed and accurate.
I find this type of drawing very impressive. Rated you a 5! :D |
Haha, thanks everyone. Well, it's been hectic but I did manage to spit out an oekaki under the extreme pressure of Ultima and friends.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/HTMLka0s/sin.jpg A work in progress, but it'll get there. |
"sin", but why? I think it is pretty sexy. :3
|
Because its sometime we all have in common. One way or another. >>; And thank you :3
Some new stuff including something I'm working on for school. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...torealism2.jpg More photography! Yay! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...affitiSky2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...ildingSky1.jpg Sketchy-ness On this one, I've received other comments on the arm being too long. The upper arm, I didn't draw it properly so part of the upper area is shoulder/collarbone stuff. I fixed it on the sketch but didn't scan in the newest version. I think I also need to work on the wrist area and maybe curve the lower arm more. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...ghtlyEmpty.jpg |
your stuff is very good.
What kind of pencil did u use for the face portrait. |
You're making me feel bad about myself. :(
(your art is THAT good) |
@Shenlon; I used a range of pencils frommmm 2H - 6B and an ebony pencil. Probably shouldn't have used the ebony, but -shrugs-
@vemp; :< Don't say that. Your art is awesome just as much. (Hey if you really wanna cry, you gotta take a look at the stuff senior students create at our school. I'll cry along with you.) |

|
Haha. Well I'm still going to high school so tuition isn't the problem for me. Although I'm wondering what happens when I apply for college. -twitch-
I gotta go now, but I'll try again later. I tried a coupla times before with like three names, but nothing really worked. |
Okay, final version of the photorealism piece. I'll probably tweak it some more in class if I get a chance. I'm not too proud of it but here it is nonetheless.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...alismfinal.jpg |
Oh don't you just love my sketches. -cough- Damnit, I need to finish something. NAOW.
My studies on motion, ref'd: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...a0s/Ribbon.jpg These two have bad composition, and I paid attention more to the anatomy than anything else. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/HTMLka0s/Jump.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...breakdance.jpg Oo yay, CG WIP. Finally. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/HTMLka0s/isis.jpg |
oh wow nicely done especially the first one with the flowing action.
Do you take pictures of models before drawing them or do you just draw it straight from memory |
I love them, all of them.
I llooove the different figures, your style, the coloring, ... everything! I can never draw anything that's not girly and bubbly, your work are really good! :) Hope to see more soon! |
Thanks guys.
@shenlon; The first three were from picture refs I found on DA. Although people suggested I focus more on gesture drawings/speed sketching if I really wanted to capture real motion, so I guess I'll find someone to pose for me later. @sandy; I've been trying to expand my grasp on different figures and faces. I'm glad that's starting to show~~ |
Did I mention already that I like how you draw fabrics? And those damn clean lines?
Lovely. |
:O
Thanks vemp. @yamamanama; Well I did for a while, and thanks. Just an update on CG wip. PAINTER CRASHED ON ME WHEN I JUST FINISHED IT. -long string of curses- :boxing: :boxing: :boxing: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5.../isiscolor.jpg I haven't set the other hues/tones in yet since I'm not sure what I want the background to be. Suggestions? |
Actually what I meant was the color of the buildings since their lighting would reflect off her skin.
|
Yeah, you should try brown/tan/reddish buildings with a few blacks.
Or you can do a brown wall with gun holes and cracks and stuff. A grey/black bg won't suit her skin tone/reflection. |
Really? I thought a picture should always have the warm tones with the contrasting cool tones.
Another piece, cubism for school. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...0s/cubism3.jpg ---------------------------------------- I've just seen these around and I really wanted to do one. So here's me camwhoring. -fall- Should've picked a better setting though. Spoiler:
|
On that last image, I am not seeing a strong light source. What is the light in the environment that you have envisioned? What kind of light is suppose to be? Sun light? Moon light or something artificial? Thinking about those will help your shading a lot.
As for the new image, it seen like an interesting idea, have you try compositing your photos to make a compositions similar to the one that you are painting? |
Quote:
|
@magi; It's superficial lighting, picture refs taken from inside a classroom. The three in the background aren't suppose to have many details at all. But I put too much in them. The one in the front that's looking up, has the most detail.
And what do you mean by that last comment? --------------------------------- @vemp; I feel horrible for saying this, but I've actually given up on that pic. [rant]After starting the whole piece over again, I'm sick of looking at it. I've tried out like five different color jobs and...[/rant] yeah. -dies- Quote:
More spam (oekaki): Spoiler:
|
Yay for oekakis! XD
The second one looks really yummy~ |
Yusss! That's what I said.
Quote:
|
What I mean was, since you are using your own photo as a reference, you could have make a photoshopped version of the cubism piece, to function as a rough draft for your final painting.
|
Oh. Well I did the composition in class, so I just dove right into it. I only used myself as the model because I didn't have someone else to pose. And it was a lot more convenient if I wanted a different shot later on or something.
So besides all that, I feel photoshopping a draft is so cheating. You're like skipping out on all the fun of spontaneity and the constant flow that just goes whenever you wanna create something. |
Haven't had the time to sketch.
Face is distorted. Holding the guitar too low. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...a0s/guitar.jpg |
Haven't painted in a long time. Practice portrait, ref'd.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...eportrait4.jpg |
That is just beautiful. :D I think it would be nice if there are a bit more variation in tones in terms of the dark areas, but its looks really good.
|
Quote:
You really captured the colors well, I still love it. You're improving so fast D: |
@magi; thank you. I'll keep that in mind the next time I open it. Plan on touching it up this weekend~
@dai; myaha. You're exposed on at least three different forums. >D Thank you :3 |
holy crap that's hot! I'm a sucker for high-contrast colors. :D
