If you want it, steal it!

Have you ever had anything that you owned, something that you used all the time and enjoyed stolen?

I have had so many things stolen from me since I was a kid. Starting from toy cars and nintendo games to guitar cords and an Ipod. I was pissed when I lost all the things to sticky handed kids that would put there hands on something of mine, not tell me and take it.

So, what are some of the most valuable things someone has stole from you, or have you ever been the one to steal something that you just didn't want to pay all that money for?

MagicalVacation Sep 15, 2006 05:51 AM

Thieves are the lowest lifeforms on the planet.

I never understood parents who actually said to their children: "If you want that, you're gonna have to steal it from one of your friends"

Kolba Sep 15, 2006 08:41 AM

Child molesters are at least 4 times lower than thieves. And classing them as a subset, by calling them 'Virginity thieves', would be tenuous.

Snowknight Sep 15, 2006 09:59 AM

The most monetarily valuable thing that has ever been stolen from me is my first copy of Super Smash Bros. for the N64. One of my brother's friends took it and then moved away. I was upset, as it took me quite some time to get another copy.

Paco Sep 15, 2006 10:14 AM

I stole a keyboard and mouse set from my last job. I figure that the set is worth about $99 and I'm still owed $300 for hours worked that were never paid. I think I need to steal something else. Like the boss' car for example.

*AkirA* Sep 15, 2006 10:34 AM

I stole about 800+ dollars worth in magazines and chicken over the course of a year at my old job. I was a cashier at a grocery store. After about 3 hours of not working I would go on break and do the following. Grab some chicken and fries from the deli, snag a drink out of any random cooler, then grab some magazines that interested me (EGM, Maxim, National Geographic, and GQ being the norm). Then I would stroll to the break room, eat, read, hour and a half later I would come back not work another hour or so, then leave with magazines in hand.

Its the least they could do for only paying me 5.15 an hour. The key is to not act like your stealing. Just roll with it.

MinionOfCthulhu Sep 15, 2006 10:37 AM

The only time something has been stolen from me is, a rather long time ago, when my family and I came home to find someone had broken into our house and stole our VCR, Nintendo, and collection of like 60 games. That sort of ruined the evening, let me tell you.
My dumbass brother left his laptop in his car once in view and, surprise surprise, someone broke into his car and took the computer. I think an iPod was taken too, I can't recall.

I'm pretty careful with my stuff. I've never stolen a thing in my life. I don't have the balls to do it for fun, and I sure as hell don't have to do it to survive.

The only thing I've ever had stolen from me was a portable CD player and the CD inside five years ago, in 9th grade. I found out from a girl who rides his bus who the kid was. He was in my global history class, last period of the day. I told the kid in class that if he gave me back my stuff, I wouldn't say a word to anyone about it, but that if he didn't, I'd tell the teacher that I knew someone in the class had stolen it. Lockers would be searched and they'd find it. Kid took me to his locker after class and gave me my stuff back. He had swiped it out of the top of my backpack when I was in the bathroom.

It's not really cool to threaten to tell the teacher on someone, but I'm not going to fight a dude over a cheap CD player.

I think you're referring to black people. Seriously man... When was the last time you saw an internet meme that read BEANERSTOLEMYTV.com?

Furby Sep 15, 2006 11:38 AM

I hate stealing but I do think it is ok when it is justified for it. By justified I don't mean like.. OMFG, I like needed that. .

I mean, in the sense that if someone stole something from you, isn't it justified that you steal it back or maybe if you steal something of equal value.

Lady Miyomi Sep 15, 2006 11:44 AM

I once had a semi-rare Chococat umbrella I used to carry around with me a lot. I dropped about $20 for it. I was telling my family about how I acquired it and how much I spent on it. Another lady I knew overheard the entire conversation. You guessed it, she stole my umbrella and vanished.

galen Sep 15, 2006 11:50 AM

I had my old car broken into several times. Twice they managed to steal the stereo, and twice they tried to take the car itself but failed and in their frustrations stole every single item currently in the car, including my snow brush, my ice scraper, my sunglasses, and the owners manual. Both the passenger and driver side windows were broken on seperate attempts.

It was frustrating, and nerve wracking, especially when I park right outside my apartment.

Fatt Sep 15, 2006 12:17 PM

I remember back in high school, my sophmore year, I had my CD player and my enitre p-funk collection stolen. It was especially upsetting because I had this rare 4 disc professionally recorded bootleg of a George Clinton/Parliment/Funkadelic show recorded in (I think) 82' or so. It was a fuckin amazing show. Somebody grabbed it while I was having lunch. I bet they were just after the CD player, and probably just threw away the CDs.

I remember being on the other side of the tracks too. Whenever a fight broke out, I would be there to snatch any pagers or jewelry that would fly off the ignorant combatants. I never got much, but once I got $50 for a pager. I also remember stealing food from the school cafeteria. The prices were so overinflated, and half the time we couldn't leave the school for lunch, so I felt justified. For all those say it is karma striking back, I got my CD player stolen first.

Why do you have to go and stereotype the poor blackman like that. They try to hard only to have some beaner call them thieves. If I knew which nigga stole my car I would drive over to Cali and teach you some tolerance.

Atomic Angel Sep 15, 2006 12:54 PM

I've stolen pop, and rubber balls, bu tthats it. The most valubal things i'vehad stolen are like books, comic books, systems, pets, and my mr.snuggle.

Syndrome Sep 15, 2006 01:20 PM

The worst thing stolen from me was my first portable cd-player, worth around $300. I was pissed, because I really need music on the go, but my mom bought me a cheap one that worked just as well, so I was fine. Although I won't forget about this, you bastard who stole it.

Vivace119 Sep 15, 2006 02:05 PM

There have been many games that I have owned and stupidly lent to unreliable people who have never returned them. I must have lost at least 5 games this way.

Also, I was devastated when my N64 (and all the games) was stolen when my house was broken into. The main problem with this was losing Goldeneye, which was very popular at the time (when it first came out):- sold out in every store for months.

On a much less serious note, I used to lose so much stationary (pens, pencils, etc) in school because people decide to borrow mine and never return.

Senorita Preved Sep 15, 2006 02:38 PM

I used to work at a store where I could play whatever I wanted.
Everyday I used to tote my entire Faye Wong collection (every cd + a lot of random singles, remix albums and shit where she only had like one song on it) to work. I accidentally left it at work one day never to be seen again :(

It was seriously the worst thing ever...who the fuck would like to steal Faye wong cds?

ONE DAY I WILL FIND YOU AND PUT YOU IN AN UNFLATTERING SWEATER, UNAMED VILLAN

I paid $300 for a computer that currently retails for $950.

That is all I will say.

About three or four years ago, one of my mobile phones was stolen during high school. It was something I often used, and I discovered that it was missing during gym period. The school administration couldn't do anything to help me since carrying phones at that time was against the rules anyway.

Other than that, I haven't had any other object stolen from me that was worth something.

nazpyro Sep 15, 2006 10:41 PM

About 8 or 9 years ago, my copy of Sonic Spinball was missing after a birthday party at my house. It probably got copped by Tails, but there's no evidence for this. I theorized the thief sold it to Blockbuster's.

I've always intended to just get another one, but never have, other than Sonic Mega Collection a few weeks ago for the GameCube.

Summonmaster Sep 15, 2006 11:46 PM

Our first car would have been stolen, but it was probably considered too crappy, and thus it was just left with the keyholes drilled and busted beyond repair. Our second and current car looked like it had important stuff in it, but the thieves just left it a mess and strangely didn't steal anything, despite breaking in and scattering items about.

Kids steal pencils from me all the time. I won't count paper.

FlamingScurve Sep 16, 2006 12:19 AM

I had a friend's playstation stolen from his dorm by some high schoolers. When I heard, I figured out where they were most likely headed and hopped on my bike to intercept them. They tried to escape on a bus but I explained the situation to the bus driver. The final showdown was in a parking lot where I grabbed the pack back, held on for dear life, and wound up with only the strap.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Sep 16, 2006 05:40 AM

My car got nicked and torched while I was at uni which was somewhat annoying. I found out about a month later though that the kid who nicked it had stolen a car belonging to a local gang leader and had got himself shot. That's karma for you I guess.

Sakabadger Sep 16, 2006 06:02 AM

I can't really recall anyone stealing anything truly worthwhile of mine (except for this one retard who stole my cupcakes in a basketball camp. I still remember his face and if I saw him today I might even punch him. I was young!), but I'll tell you a theft that occurred to me that was pretty weird.

I took out "my" baritone from the school's set of instruments so I could practice at home, and I stopped to chat with some friends in the middle of the campus. I set the baritone in its case by a wall and left for a few minutes. When I got back, it wasn't there anymore. It certainly couldn't have been a teacher or an honest student who took it, since the name of the school was plastered all over the case. I was forced to conclude that someone STOLE an old and dingy baritone. I told the teacher about what happened and he just went, "Um, well, try to find it" and we all kind of forgot about the deal. As far as I know, that baritone has never been returned, and I've never gotten in trouble for it.

Hooray.

Nehmi Sep 16, 2006 07:57 AM

I've never really 'stolen' anything before, but I do have a lot of 'borrowed' items that will probably never be returned. My friend Jakob let me borrow some books from him at one time years ago... needless to say, I still have them. Also, I've obtained a bunch of classic SNES games this way as well, such as Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past & Chrono Trigger. The same thing has happened to me as well... my copy of FF8 was gone for a couple of years and some random kid from town dropped it back off at my house. I don't even remember loaning it out! I wasn't so lucky with my copy of Parasite Eve & Command & Conquer Red Alert Retailation, which are still being 'borrowed'.

Stealing from other people is always bad business in my opinion, but... I have no problem stealing from corporations. I'm pretty sure they don't even notice besides wanting to have as much money/products as is humanly possible. Hurrah for corporations!

Krelian Sep 16, 2006 09:23 AM

I accidentally stole a load of shit from my friends when I moved away from the states :( At my friend Justin's house we both had all our Pokémon cards spread out all over his room's floor, and when the time came for me to go home I threw all mine together. When I got back it transpired that I had a fuckload of his in there, too, and I never got a chance to return them. Later on, when I returned to say hi to people around six months down the line, I had my copy of Pokémon Stadium at another friend's house while staying the night. When the time came to haul ass back to the hotel, I saw a copy on the carpet and stuffed it in my bag. Got to the airport and opened my bag - Two copies of the game were in there. :( I still feel guilty for never returning it.

And, oddly enough, the third stealing incident I can recall was also Pokémon related, except I was the victim this time. I was the first person in my school to have an English language copy of Gold, and had it with me in the school computer room. I left it by my keyboard, left the room for twenty minutes to say hi to my older brother (who'd just came down from the accompanying high school - strangely I am now the same age as he was when he came down to visit me, and I'm living in his old dorm! creepy). Came back in and someone had nicked it; never found it again. Worst part is that this was a prestigious private prep school filled with rich kids with overpaid divorced fathers who'd just buy them the damned game anyway, but noooo, turns out they were never taught stealing was wrong. fuckers

edit: Oh, and not exactly stealing, but in 2004 I'd left a glass of water and my phone next to each other on the table in my dorm. I got back from a run and some total mother fucker had fucking PUT MY FUCKING PHONE IN THE FUCKING WATER. The screen was dead and it didn't do anything apart from incessantly vibrating when I turned it on. fucking housemaster didn't even make a fucking effort to find out who did it. ahhh

JackyBoy Sep 16, 2006 09:24 AM

Had my $1700 stereo ripped out my car a few years back which included...

Panasonic CD deck
400W Pheonix Gold Amplifier
10' Subwoofer
Random CDs
Guess sunglasses
Wallet

Since then I don't like people going near my shit. I basically view everyone as suspicious now. If I ever found out who stole my shit I'd go to work on that punk's ass with a blow torch and a pair of pliers, Pulp Fiction style.

Fatt Sep 16, 2006 10:09 AM

Ha! I completely forgot, I had my car stolen once. It wasn't the fatmobile, but rather the ghetto mom. The ghetto mom was an 86' Toyota Camry stationwagon, held together by rust. I couldn't lock it up because all the locks were broken. Even the ignition could be started with a screwdriver. To add insult to injury, the thing couldn't go faster than 40mph. So it was stolen, found in the ghetto, missing a battery. How fuckin silly.

Wall Feces Sep 16, 2006 10:36 AM

The first thing I ever stole when I was a wee sprout was a demo CD out of a Next Gen magazine. I'm such a little bastard.

Other than that... I don't really steal anything PHYSICAL. It's kind of a low thing to do, and I don't really need anything that I'm THAT desperate for that I need to steal it. I'd say my best "digital" crime was going into the graphic design lab at my school, plugging in my iPod, and taking a ton of fonts and software. Bah hahaha.

Phoenix X Sep 16, 2006 06:50 PM

I stole jerky from a supermarket once! I'm such a rebel! :P Then again, I download all my music, movies, and TV (unless they're really good). :P

About three years ago I was living in a bedsitting room, and I left the window open when I left for school. I came back to find that another tenant had climbed in and left with my PS2, my games, my brother's DVDs, and my mp3 player. After that, I trashed the room worse than they did. And of course, nobody saw/heard/committed anything.

Thieves aren't quite the lowest form of life. Rapists, murderers, pedophiles, politicians, and people in marketing, to name a few, far surpass them. But they're still scum of the earth.

Coming from a fellow Fayenatic, that's got to be pretty horrible. If my Faye Wong CD's ever got stolen I'd be pretty damn pissed and everything. Nobody messes around with my Faye CD's. Why would anyone steal those CD's, because I don't think pawn shops would take Chinese music CD's right? Assuming you live outside of Asia, that is.

DarknessTear Sep 16, 2006 07:31 PM

I stole a PSX game but ended up giving it to the Goodwill out of guilt.

Lunar Seal Sep 16, 2006 09:07 PM

I'm not proud to say it, but I've stolen plenty of stuff over the years from both work and just in general...

Probably a good 200 dollars worth in clothes from my employer. And I've stolen little things like make up, but that was way back in the day. I was probably 13 or so and didn't know better. Well, I did. But everyone makes mistakes.

tommboi Sep 17, 2006 01:24 AM

i think stealing is awesome. i've stolen ipods, psps, nintendo handhelds, digital cameras etc from my own friends and i don't feel any guilt from doing it. if i can do it without getting caught why not?

Friends like you are why I don't have my Starfox cartridge anymore...

avanent Sep 17, 2006 01:34 AM

Little has been stolen from me. A hard to find DVD was once, that was really irritating. Three years later and I still havn't run across another copy. Worse though, a gift I gave to a friend was stolen... that was pretty crappy.

I actually have stolen a couple of times. I'd never steal from an individual though. If the line is ridiculously long and other tellers are just sitting on their ass, I'll just walk out with the item, especially in grocery stores. They often like to only have 1 to 2 lanes open. Its sick. If its something that can't be stolen, I just put it down on the nearest table and walk out. I hate waiting in long lines.

At restaraunts, if I have to wait more than ten minutes after I ask for the check I'll walk out. If they catch up before I'm out the door, then I'll still pay.

It's not a money thing for me. Its a time thing. I can't stand my time being wasted for arbitrary reasons. Lazy cashiers and lazy waitstaff will always tempt me to just walk out.

I have accidently stolen two of those little stress squezers from people. There fun to play with. I'll walk otu the front door playing with one without me or the other person realizing.

edit: oh ya. When I was young I caught some kid trying to steal my dad's vehicle. Just a couple weeks ago, the neighbor yelled at some kid trying to steal my vehicle. Fucking kids.

MTGNecro Sep 17, 2006 01:56 AM

I have not stolen really, but I did have some really wierd things stolen from me one time. I usually lock my moutain bike up on the racks at school, and one day when I come out to grab in and head home, I find the following stolen:

My seat
My chain
My front intertube(not the actual wheel)
My handlebars

It pissed me off to no end, and all I have to say is that somebody had way too much free time on their hands.

WolfDemon Sep 17, 2006 02:14 AM

Just before I quit my job at Rhino Video Games, I stole around $200-300 worth of stuff. I wonder if I can still remember everything... Let's see:

Megaman X Command Mission, Silent Hill 3 and God of War for PS2, Disney's Aladdin, Castlevania 4 and Alien vs. Predator for SNES, Megaman Zero 1-4, Gunstar Super Heroes, Sonic Advance, Super Mario World, and Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga for GBA, Shadows of the Empire, Donkey Kong 64, Blast Corps, Super Mario 64, Quest 64, a memory card and expansion pak for N64, Halo 2, (I accidentally left mine in my Xbox when I traded it toward my 360, so technically I was just taking it back.) Rhapsody, Tactics Ogre, Um Jammer Lammy, Parappa the Rapper, Soul Reaver, Resident Evil 1-3, and Megaman Legends for PS1, 3 wireless 360 controllers, a year subscription to Xbox Live Gold, a blue GBA SP, a DS and Animal Crossing Wild World, Gauntlet, Megaman 2, Battle Chess, Super Mario Bros 1 and 3 for NES, and I believe that's it. I'll edit if I remember anything else later.

Dark Nation Sep 17, 2006 03:07 AM

Stuff Stolen From Me:
Several Movies including Rush Hour 2, Planet of the Apes Remake, and some other ones I can't think of.
Games: Super Smash Bros :( (Fucker borrowed it and then 'moved' grrrr ), some PSX/PS2 games (Although they are technically at my 'bro's house, but they are basically long gone).
Other: A Wallet, Bike (Twice!), CD Player (I think), A Gameboy Color, a Gameboy SP (I have bad luck with them for some reason), some GBA Games, and tools. A mini TV and Microwave oven.

Yeah that's why I don't let people borrow my original stuff anymore.
Only stuff I give is copyable stuff (Movies or games).

Now for the other side, AKAIK (Due to bad memory or just forgetting), The only stuff I remember stealing is food/candy from the local convience store, and occasionally small stuff from Supermarkets/Walmart type stores.

I used to have a "friend" who thought stealing from his own friends was "awesome" too. I took his ass 30 miles out of town on a cold winter night and 3 other friends and I beat the shit out of him and left him stripped down to his socks. Why couldn't he steal from OTHER PEOPLE'S friends? At least he was wise enough to return my watch; that shit was worth more than his life was.

Also, with all this talk of stolen bikes it reminds me of how it is at UCSB. I guess there's a college-wide unspoken agreement that bicycles are EVERYONE'S PROPERTY. I was walking with my friend Eddie's then-girlfriend to one of the dorms to pick up some books she'd left with a classmate and on the way there she just picked up a random bike and rode it to the dorm. I was bewildered as to what the hell she was seemingly stealing a bike but then she dropped the bike at the door and when we left the dorm she picked up a different bike and rode that one home. When we got to the apartment she just left the bike unlocked in the parking lot and I just asked, "Kris... Are you not gonna lock that?" She just said, "Nah... It'll be gone anyway and I can just grab another one tomorrow." :tpg:

Man, now that I think about it, I've had a lot of stuff stolen from me. While DVD's were common (I thought about doing a sign-out sheet, and making people who borrowed my movies sign for it, but then just stopped loaning them out), some of the most memorable things that I remember getting stolen or "stolen" from me:

My bike was stolen when I was in the 3rd grade. What really sucked was I saw someone riding it about a week later. I knew it was mine cause I recognized the handlebars and the shape of the bike, except it was spraypainted black (my bike was purple). I know some of you would be like "I'd kick his ass", except that he was much bigger than me, and he was riding with about 3 other guys behind him, while I was by myself (which would've meant I'd get my ass kicked). I just let it slide, and figured that someday I'll just randomly blow shit up around that neighborhood (luckily I've "grown up", but man, I had some pretty twisted revenge ideas. It's probably better that I don't reveal it lol).

While on leave in the Army, I brought my N64 home, along with a lot of my games. I let one of my friends from high school borrow 3 of them (I don't remember them all anymore, but I think 2 of them were Rogue Squadron and F-Zero X. I don't remember the third game anymore unfortunately). I kept calling his house and even went to his house several times, but he never answered his phone or door. And despite leaving messages, he never called me back, and after about a week and a half, I had to go back to Korea. Kind of pissed me off that he would apparently disappear off the face of the earth like that (he did email me occasionally, but now that I think about it, I wasn't important enough to people to get much stuff from them, despite me writing a lot).

One of my female friends needed to borrow $70 to pay for her dorm. She has a job and all, but her paycheck wasn't going to come in until Friday, and she needed the money on Tuesday. She also told me a story of how this other guy I knew apparently did all these creepy things to her (such as knocking on her suite door, and then sitting next to her while she slept, until she got up. Until that happened, she told me she didn't bother locking her door, despite me telling her before lol), and earlier loaned her about $200. She apparently kept putting off paying him (and when she did, she wrote a check which then apparently bounced). Then she told me that he went and got a lawyer to demand payment, not to mention pay the lawyer fee (I don't remember what it was). She then said she called her mom, who then told her to pay that money NOW.

Anyway, I fell for her sob story, and loaned her the $70. She offered to write me a post-dated check for it, but me being the trusting friend, declined it, and told her that she could simply pay me back after she got her paycheck, cause I wasn't concerned about the money.

Well, that was about a year and a half ago, and she's mysteriously vanished as well. She transferred to another college, and any messages I left her never got received. I did have her home phone number, but I didn't want to call her parents (her dad is kind of like Peter Griffin's dad on Family Guy, yes, devout Catholic). When I did manage to reach her a few times, she continually claimed that she sent a check in the mail, and I have never, ever seen anything (so don't believe anyone who says "check's in the mail" lol).

As a result of this stuff, I'm really skeptical about loaning people stuff unless I can absolutely trust them (not to mention know where they live, so I can go there in case they "borrow" something from me and never bring it back), and I don't loan money to anyone anymore, other than my immediate family (but even then I'm skeptical cause my older brothers have a habit of borrowing and not paying back money they borrow. Hell, one of my brothers used my mom's credit to buy about $2100 worth of new computer stuff, despite the fact that he still owes her about $2k for a car she helped him buy. I have a feeling he won't pay her back, and is going to fuck up her credit because of that. And despite all that, she won't kick him out. Man, my mom is too nice :( )

And to all you people who think stealing is cool, screw you. I hope you get something valuable stolen from you someday, then you'll know what it's like when you steal stuff from other people. Or better yet, get caught in the act. Then let's see if you like jail or getting your ass kicked.

Helloween Sep 17, 2006 11:31 PM

The most valueable (and probably only, now that i think about it) thing that's ever been stolen from me was my first copy of Starcraft. It wasn't actually stolen from me, i lent it to a friend, and it was stolen from his house. I know it wasn't him who was just hiding it from me, cause shit had been going missing from his house for a while, but it got worse after Starcraft disappeared. After a while we caught the guy who had been doing it, but he claimed he pawned everything he had stolen at that point. I was sorta pissed, but i got another copy that year for my birthday, so whatevs.

Somebody grabbed it while I was having lunch. I bet they were just after the CD player, and probably just threw away the CDs..

Oh man. I would cry. No one steals the P-Funk, that's just a sin.

I had my backpack stolen my freshman year. Most valuable things were my Ti-83+ and my CD player with copy of The Wall in it. It was nice not having to do my homework for a few days, though.

Oh god. Now you just reminded me that my entire Pink Floyd collection was stolen in high school too. Why?! Why?! Why would anybody steal Parliment, Funkadelic, and Pink Floyd?! It's... Like stealing a bible from a church!

Blasphemy!

See... I wouldn't feel the least bit guilty about stealing a bible from a church. It's like swiping a Benjamin from a bank. You know they have a stash of them in the back and that shit won't hurt them in the least bit.

When I was 5 I accidently stole a 5 cent button from a craft store like 2 hours from our house and when my mom found it later she was OMG and called the store and they said it was ok don't worry about it, heh.

When I went to Canada I stole a lot of drinks and shit from like gas stations because they would charge 4.50 for a bottle of water and I'm not going to drop 10 bucks for a drink and a bag of chips.

Back in the day, somebody (my neighbor, I know it was you!) stole all but one of my Sega Genesis games, and my controllers. I was left with only Madden '93.

scotty Sep 24, 2006 03:30 PM

My friend borrowed my NES one day, then a few weeks later he moved away taking the NES, duck hunt/ mario 1, mario 2, and mario 3. I never saw him again. Hes not too far away, but I don't think he will still have it since he isn't really a gamer.

I had my Atrac MP3 player stolen after I lent it to my friend who was going to use it for learning a song in guitar class. The faggot just set it on the floor when class was over and it was gone within a minute.

I also had my Ipod Nano stolen, or misplaced by some guy in my Biology 11 class. He just took it out of my pack without asking and then something happened to it...

Everything else just gets borrowed for long periods of time without me knowing (gamecube controllers, audio cables)

Most of that sounds like your own fault.

Anyway, hate to play on the stereotype, but once in high school I saw two black kids just take someone's bike. They said don't tell anyone, and why would I? So I let it happen.

The owner probably deserved it one way or another.

I've not had anything stolen from me yet luckily, although by the law of karma I should have; I went through a kleptomaniac phase for a while when I was a teenager. I had a pyromaniac for a boyfriend at one point and I used to steal test tubes and shit from my science lab for him (I also stole a fire blanket from there which I felt bad about once I thought about it). Also, if my friends ever wanted little trinkets like cheap earrings and the likes I'd steal those for them. I think the worst thing I took was a £15 skirt, and after that I stopped because I got the jitters really bad.

In 4th grade, I used to bring an empty bag with me to school. During lunch time, I would sneak into an empty classroom and steal whatever I wanted. I stole a whole bunch of toys, stickers, Pokemon cards, a bell from the teacher's desk, books, and even cash. Yeah, I was a horrible kid back then.

Yggdrasil Sep 24, 2006 08:51 PM

I haven't really had anything of significant monetary value stolen from me, the only theft I can really remember was when my pikachu walker thing (you know those toys that you cliped on your belt and while you walked it kept track of the steps you took, which then translated to points in-game to use?) disappeared from my pockets one day, but I got over that quickly.

However I was quite a thief myself. I got away with a number of stealings when I was younger and more daring I guess. I stole a Pokemon game, pokemon cards, money, a calculator, innumerable pencils and pens or at least the lead or ink in them, and once even a gameboy color. Sadly the gameboy color would be the last of my major operations since by the time I stole it people had begun to notice things around me tended to disappear. I almost had the gameboy, then things just kinda fell apart after the kid I jacked it from noticed it, and you put two and two together, well lets just say I had an unwelcome visit from my parents that day. I really haven't stolen anything since, haha.

That logic is all forms of fucked up.

yes it was partly my fault. I left my backpack on the table with one of my friends in Biology (him, me, and the guy who took it were lab partners) I went to go hand something in came back and he was listening to it. I thought - you bitch - and asked for it back but the bell rang anyways. He put it in my backpack for me, I saw it myself. I went to grab it to listen to it imediatly after, and it was not there at all. I removed all the contents in by bag and nothing. The guy was still there and we looked for it and nothing, I still don't know what happened and if he stole it or not. I did inform the police though.
As for the Atrac I guess it was my fault for letting my friend borrow it, but he is usually a dependable guy. He apologised numerous times, and I made him feel bad for awhile.

Hm. I remember I had a Ninja Turtles Genesis game stolen from me way back when. I had an idea of who it was but I had no proof. I asked his sister about it and she said she'd see if he had it around his room somewhere. He didn't.

I also remember having a pretty snazzy pair of athletic Nike shorts stolen from me back in middle school. I saw a guy wearing the exact same pair and confronted him about it. He denied so I went to the teacher. No proof. No luck.

As for stuff I've stolen... It's quite a bit. It'd always be at conventions. I don't think I'd have the gall to steal from a department store or something. Let's see, The Bouncer art book, a few import mangas I wanted to check out but didn't feel were worth the money, FFVIII OST, X the anime box set, Rurouni Kenshin Series for a friend, some other DVD box sets for other friends, and maybe some other things I'm forgetting.

I should mention though that the DVD boxsets were Hong Kong bootlegs that were priced as Official copies. No sir, the DVDs you have are mere fansubs.

Probably the worst theft story I know is this:

A kid I know has a backpack lined with copper wire. Basically, this creates a Faraday cage inside of his packpack, which prevents the "metal detectors" at the front of the store from detecting that he's stealing things. So, he basically takes anything that can fit in his backpack. He has entire computers built from stolen parts except for the case.

He's a fucked up kid.

I used to work at a daycare right after I had my daughter, who is now almost 19. I was married to a complete loser who wouldn't work and I was pregnant again, and we had no food...ever. So I would wait until the kids were asleep at naptime and go into the kitchen and devour as much food and juice as I could in a couple of minutes, because I was deathly afraid of getting caught and I didn't want to be in there too long. One day I went into the kitchen and there was a sign on the refrigerator door that said the food and juice was for the children (of course I already knew that), and that all employees should bring their own food to work. After that I would sometimes go for days without eating, but I would still sneak and drink some juice every day.

I don't hold it so much against her, as the business is the one who is supplying the supplies. It isn't like she snatched it out of the children's hands and ate it. Out of sight, out of mind. I think it is unbelievable being a pregnant woman, having to do what you have to do. The children will all live another day, a fetus needs to grow. Besides, it's better to admit to it, and understand the problem, than hide it for life.

Are you kidding me? It sounds to me that the kid is a genius. Although I'd really question whether or not lining a backpack with copper will actually successfully scramble the anti-theft detectors.

You know... I don't know if I would go so far as to call that theft. That was necessity and I really wouldn't hold it against you.

Wow Alice, sorry to hear about that. I don't think in this case that it was stealing, cause you obviously needed food because you were hungry.

Fire On Ice Sep 27, 2006 08:39 PM

well this isn't very big but when I was 8 (I think) when those damn Sailor Moon cards were really popular at school, I bought an enormous ammount of packs so I could find a rare one. I finally got one and was showing them to anyone who would listen for a few days. One day, a girl named Caitlin took all the cards, even the book that they were in and scratched out my name on the inside of the cover. I was furious but when I confronted her she called me a liar and tried to spit on me. I gave up pretty quickly after that.
